NEWBIE HELP - Supress Header with Formula using Parameter

Hi,
I am new to CR10, and I am working with it and C#.
I have a report that lists all calls made to a motor vehicle registry agent office after the office is selected from a dropdown on a webpage. I have been asked to make an enhancement whereby the user can select All from a dropdown menu and the report will show all calls for all registry offices. I can do that much and get it to group by the registry agent.
The problem is the header which currently has the Reg. Office Name, Address, City listed on it. If the user now selects All from the dropdown, I just want it to display text "All Registry Offices". Otherwise, I want the name etc...of the registry office selected. I was trying to add a parameter in the code saying if all offices are selected:
objReport.SetParameterValue("AllAgents", 1);
and then in the report, I added a parameter called AllAgents (it showed up in my parameter list). Then I right clicked by the left side of the header, selected Section Expert -> the formula button by Suppressed and typed in this formula:
if {?AllAgents} = "1" then trueelse false
Then when I saved everything, ran the app and try to view the report I get this error:
Server Error in '/src' Application. -
The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

I can see when I go to where the pdf is generated that the pdf was never created. I am lost and stressed out a little bit by this.

Need Help with Formula using SQL maybe

I need help! I work with Crystal reports XI and usually manage just fine with the Formula editor but his one I think will require some SQL and I am not good at that.
We are running SQL 2000 I think (Enterprise Manager 8.0) Our sales people schedule activities and enter notes for customer accounts. Each is stored in a separate table. I need to find activities that are scheduled 240 days into the future and show the most recent note that goes with the account for which that activity is scheduled.
The two tables, Activities and History, share the an accountID field in common that links them to the correct customer account.   I want to look at dates in the Startdate.Activities field more than 240 days in the future and show the most recent note from the History table where the accountid's match. I figure my query will contain a join on AccountID.Activities and AccountID.History used with Max(completedate.History) but I do not understand how to word it.
I would like to perform all this in crystal if possible. I humbly request your help.

You SQL would look something like this...

This method assumes that the History table has a HistoryID that increments up automatically each time a new comment is added... So a comment made today would always have a higher HistoryID that one made yesterday.
If I'm wrong and there is no HistoryID or the HistoryID doesn't increment in a chronological fashion, it can still be done but the code is a bit more complex.

I am using reports 6i with OAS9i .
I am not able to execute a report with a parameterform .
When I press (Submit Query) ,The report always gives the error of cannot contact CGI.

To display the parameter for when deploying a report to the web, you need to include the following item on the url:
&paramform=html
so your url would look like: http://myserver/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?server=Rep60_xyz&report=mydep.rdf&userid=scott/tiger@orcl&destype=cache&desformat=HTMLCSS&paramform=html

Help..problems with connection using Skype

Hi, I have BT broadband option1 which I must say is very stable and generally fast enough for what I require. However when I use Skype the video is very blocky and freezes sometimes, audio is fine. Skype reports that my connection is bad and suggests I turn off video but my son and Grandson live in Australia so Skype is an essential application for me and the wife. I have tried another computer which behaves exactly the same so I am guessing it is my Broadband or Home Network. I changed the BT Home hub 2 for a new Netgear N150 to see if that improved it but alas no. I have port forwarded the Skype port to the computer but that has not helped either.
The connection speeds reported by BT speed test and Netgear are 448 upstream and 7616 downstream..
Is there anything wrong with my broadband connection or does anybody know how I can improve the skype video

Speaking from my experience as Jolly mentioned I was the other guy with the same problem. I could just not work out why I was getting a report from Skype all the time that my connection was not suitable for good video and to just use voice. My upload is the same as yours and is definitely sufficient for video.
I have a BT Home Hub 1 and after getting pretty fed up I just decided to do a Factory Reset and luckily it worked. You may want to revert back your your BT Box and do a reset just to see if it works because that's what I did.
As for port forwarding you should not have to do that as Skype and probably your router is UPnP ( Universal Plug and Play ) which does the port forwarding for you automatically.
Try looking in the logs of your router to see if anything stands out as been wrong.
In Skype you can get connection details from it. While you are doing a video call if you go to the top of the program and click on ‘Call’ and then ‘Call Technical Info’ and left click and copy what is in that screen and post it in here. From there we can tell what speed you are uploading.
If it seems that you are uploading OK it may be the other ends download speed as that can also effect the connection between you and them.

Newbie Help - 5th gen with no stuff!

Hello all - I recently got a 5th gen iPod from a friend that owed me $$ and all i got was the unit (black/silver - 30GB). Besides a charger, headphones, etc - what do I need to join the revolution? I am totally new to this but feel that this iPod is the bees knees. Any help with software, connections, videos, etc? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping a newbie out!

Well the main thing you need, besides headphones, is a dock cable to plug the iPod into your computer. You can then put stuff on the iPod with that cable and the cable also charges the iPod from the USB port.
One nice product out there is Griffin's Powerblock which can be seen here...

$30 and can be bought at places like Best Buy. The nice thing about this is that not only is it a charger that plugs into the wall and gives you a standard USB port to charge your iPod and any other USB chargable devices without needing a computer (great for traveling), Griffin was even kind enough to include an iPod USB Dock cable that you need anyway.
In the meantime, if you haven't already, download and install iTunes on your computer and start importing your CD library into it.

Hi. I have created a JNI application that uses C to call Java. Now, I am trying to create the .dll for windows. I am using VS C++ compiler. My program compiles; however, it doesn't seem to start the JVM. I am not sure how to pass the arguments in VS C++ while builiding and running. Please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks. I apologize for not being clear. I have created the dll file and an application that links to that dll and executes the code. It creates the .exe file and when I execute it, it goes through the sample() function that just prints "Hello", and then it goes through the startJVM() function where the JVM is intended to start; however, the status of JVM is returning -1. It's not able to start JVM. I have included the path for the jvm.dll and jvm.lib. But, still won't work. Please reply with suggestions/comments. Thanks again.

Newbie Help - Tab Canvas with Multiple Pages, Arrow to Navigate between

Hi All,
I am developing my first form. It is a page that requires several pages. I have created a tab canvas and put the pages on (there are 10 pages). When i run the form, i can see the first 4 page headers, and cannot see the other headers. Is there a way to have a arrow at the top so i can click on it to move the display so i can see the other pages?
How would this normally be done? What i am after is a similar multi page navigation to that in the assignment screen, or any oracle screen with several pages.

If i press F2, a list of all of the pages appear, but i do not get any arrows.
I have a single tab canvas with 10 pages on it. The pages fit on the canvas, but not on the display window. Do i need to modify the canvas in any way to get the navigation arrows to display?

Newbie - Help needed starting with Threads

I have a class which extends thread and all it does is displays its name and then goes to sleep. So, I have this in my run method:

Also it is better for MyClass to implement Runnable rather than extending Thread. It is always better to implement Runnable than extend Thread.

Distribution and collection wizard problem with formulas

Hi gurus,
I've an input schedule I want to distribute through the distribution wizard, this input schedule, has some rows where the user should enter data and some rows with formula using the data the user filled before.
When I collect the data I notice that the wizard only collect the user entered and remain untouched the data from the formulas.
If i enter the data in the input schedule directly (without using the distribution wizard) it works and the system send to the database the data I entered and the data from the formulas.
I activated the parameter REFRESH_CACHE_BEFORE_COLLECT, but it doesn't make any difference.
Any idea.

Pass the field catalog with the additional parameter (ls_fcat-edit = 'X'.).
for F4 help if the data element have the search help it automatically will come. other wise include the additional parameter in the field catalog (ls_fcat-F4AVAILABL = 'X')

JSF Newbie: help with forms & drop-downs

I've managed to get a few simple things working with JSF using Netbeans & Visual Web pack. This is pretty sexy stuff for a grizzled old perl programmer. However, there are still a few things I'm having trouble getting through my thick head -- maybe some kind soul could point me in the right direction.
I would like to have a couple of cascading data-bound drop-downs: dd1 provides a selection list for dd2, and the combination of dd1 and dd2, when selected, provides enough data to populate a webuijsf:table.
The desired behaviour is that a change in dd1 repopulates the selection list for dd2 and furthermore, repopulates the table based on the selected value in dd1 plus the first value in the selection list of dd2. A change of selection in dd2 repopulates the table accordingly.
My prerender() for the page checks if dd1.getSelected == null, and if so, sets the cursor to the first row in the bound data provider. Furthermore, it primes the rowset for dd2 with some rows from dd2's data provider based on the values in the first row for dd1.
The first time through, everything is peachy: dd1 has the appropriate selection list, as does dd2. my webuijsf:table also has the appropriate rows (selected in the prerender()).
My problem seems to be that when a new value is selected in dd2, dd1.getSelected == null at the next prerender(). This, of course, re-primes dd2, wiping out its selection.
So, obviously, I don't really understand what I'm doing well enough to see how to do this. The visual web pack tutorials, where I started, really don't provide adequate explanation of what's going on, and the chapter on JSF in the J2EE tutorial is still a little abstract for me.
I would be forever indebted if somebody could please provide a pointer to a resource (preferably something a perl programmer can afford ;-) that could help me understand, in concrete terms, how a form, and the elements on the form (and their events), are processed.
Also, and as an aside, am I alone in thinking the whole Java thing is tremendously complex? I'm not talking about the Java language, which I find pretty intuitive, but the zillions of J* stuff around it, which seems somewhat dense. I really do want to learn this stuff, but it's pretty bewildering!

Normally I would tell you to inject the PersonController bean into the PersonSelectionListener bean as a managed property. Then drill into the bean to get the data you need.
However, in this case you are dealing with a value change listener. Value change events are fired at the end of the Process Validations phase, before the Update Model Values phase. So in this case, the PersonController bean will not contain the selected person from the request. This is not a problem however, since the new value is passed via the ValueChangeEvent object.

NEWB HELP! How do I write Formula for Sales Tax and Gratuity items

Sorry for the bonehead question, but I'm not much good with spreadsheets and we're trying to find out if we can afford to get MARRIED. In numbers '08, I'm using the "new from template chooser" item called "event planner".
So far, it's adapting nicely to our needs, BUT some items incur sales tax, others do not. Some items involve a gratuity, others do not.
I understand the idea of adding an E column with the basic formula =D*7.25% or an F column with =D*20%
but that would add tax to EVERYTHING - question is this
If I add two columns of checkboxes, one for YES TAX, one for YES GRATUITY
how would I write the formula to say "If E is checked, then multiply D by 7.25%; if F is checked, then multiply D by 20%; add these two numbers together and put them in column G; if neither box is checked, put the value of D into G"
then I could SUM column G (???)

This formula will work (long form):
=IF(AND(B2=TRUE,C2=TRUE),A20.0725A2+0.2*A2,IF(B2=TRUE,A2+0.0725*A2,IF(C2=TRUE,A20.2A2,A2)))
and can be simplified to:
=IF(AND(B2=TRUE,C2=TRUE),1.275A2,IF(B2=TRUE,1.0725*A2,IF(C2=TRUE,1.2A2,A2)))
I would point out, however, that tax rates and tip amounts tend to change. So instead of putting constant values in the formula, you may wish to replace them with cell references to the tax and tip rate values. Then should these values change, you need to change them in only one place rather than all your formulas.
