[newbie] How to create a home page with no bottom

Hi, I'm new to Flex and ActionScript. I'm studying a book
both on Flex and ActionScript and I'm trying to get started with my
website. I was able to create the skeleton of it, with an
ApplicationControlBar at the top, a banner component to the right,
etc
Now I wanted the central part of my page to be bottomless,
meaning that I could add content indefinitely and the user could
scroll the content with the mouse wheel. However, the only way I
found so far is to use a text area; the problem is that the
textarea is in the central part of the page, and when the text goes
beyond the height, scroll bars appear on the textarea, which is
horrible. I'd like a similar style as

Can you see that the page is 'scrollable', with the content
in the centre but the scroll bars only at the side? How could I
achieve the same format with Flex 3?

Hi,
Did you try setting textarea's verticalScrollPolicy to
ScrollPolicy.NONE?
The textfield within textarea should handle mouse wheel
scroll now without the scrollbars appearing next to the text area.
If you need to programmatically scroll, just change the
verticalScrollPosition.

You can find in knowledge exchange a script to create an flash file item type. With this installed you can add a flash file to an item region on a page.

How to Create Master Detail Page with Query Region

Hi,
1. I have a requirement that i need to create a Master(Supplier) Detail(Supplier Site) Page with Query Region.
Eg. Supplier A in Australia has Supplier Sites X in Melbourne and Y in Sydney.
      Supplier B in US has Supplier Sites C in New York and D in California.
I need to have Search, based on two fields Supplier Name and Country
Let us assume i am searching with Supplier Name A then the page should be in the below layout
Query Region
Supplier Name : A
Country:
Master
Supplier Name Country
A                     Australia
Detail
Supplier Site City
X                   Melbourne
Y                   Sydney
In detail VO it should allow me to add new sites which means i need to connect this VO to database to insert new records
I have gone few threads and understood that this can be achieved by creating SupplierVO, SupplierSiteVO and a ViewLink.
But when tried i don't know how can i relate my query region with the Suppleir Table(Header Reagin and Table Using Wizard) and Supplier Site Table(Header Region and Table Using Wizard) i am not sure if i am correct or not, please advise
2. Also i need to have a Open button in this page and if click the button it should navigate to some other page.
Please help me how can i achieve this.

Thanks for asking if i have problems publishing a page after I wrote in my first comment that I have my site up and running.
I believe he's telling you to use the same logic that was used to display the error, but instead of displaying an error, display your custom page. I asked if you had trouble publishing the page because I thought that Shane's clarification post was pretty self-explanatory and that was the only thing I could think that you would be having issues with. And I guess your site isn't truly up and running if you wanted to display a custom 404 page and was not able to do so. I would say it was still under construction.

Is it possible to create one home page with links to multiple forms in Adobe Forms Central?

I have several forms that are all related. Is it possible to have one online landing page where I can link to my other forms from?
It would be easier to share one link than multiple.

You could create either a web page of your own to include the links into, or you could create a form that you include the links in - maybe add them as single checkbox fields where the user could check the box stating that they have filled out the related form. There is a "Insert or edit Link" button in the top toolbar when designing a form, select text you would like to represent the link and click the link button to add the URL to a form.
The responses for each form would be connected to those individual forms and would not be presented together. When you recieve responses from the various forms you would not have any built in way to connect the same user to the variuos forms but you could include a "Required" email field in all forms so that you can see who submitted which forms that way.

Yes, it's possible.
First create a folder of bookmarks containing the pages you want to have appear as tabs when you start Safari.
Once you've got that bookmarks folder set up, go into your General Safari preferences. At "New windows open with:" select "Choose tabs folder ..." as per the following screenshot:

Quit and restart Safari. Do the contents of the bookmarks folder open in tabs in a new window?

How do I create a new page with the existing layout of the one I've already created?

Okay, I'm extremely new to DreamWeaver, just an FYI. I've been commisioned to develop a site for a company. There will be like 10 pages total on the site. I've created the home page, and I'm now attempting to make the second one. But I don't know how I can take the basic layout I created in the home page so I can add information for the other pages later. I tried saving as template, but I had to create editable regions and those got in the way. I even tried copying all the code from the original, but then the Spry menus won't work properly. I hope I conveyed my problem correctly. Any assistance will be more than helpful.

There are basicly two methods, firstly the template method you have already tried, and secondly the "includes" method. Some people use one or the other, some people mix the two. I use only the includes method.
The includes method can be done in several ways. The PHP language has it's own method of doing includes. That's what I ususally use. You can also use the SHTML method. With the SHTML method, the material you wish to include is put in a normal HTML file, then in the file where the include will be put, it is done like this:

. . .and the pages/files must have the shtml suffix, not html. That informs the server that yo are using server script in the file.
I don't use Spry menus (or spry anything) so I can't suggest a reason you encountered a problem with it.

Why do you find it impossible to Copy and Paste?
Copy and paste is the method but you can make it easier on you by first group all objects. Arrange > Group
There are several ways to copy and paste
1. the "normal" one
2. Cmd + D to duplicate
3. Alt/Opt + drag
When you have two card select both and do the copy and paste again and you have 4 cards. Repeat this and you have 8 cards. Add two more cards and you are done.

How do you create a home page named index.htm

I created a basic test website using Site Builder. It said that the url for the website was http://mysite.verizon.net/vzer####/ instead of http://mysite.verizon.net/myusername/ , which is what the Help led me to expect. When I try to go to http://mysite.verizon.net/myusername/, it tells me that "This home page is under construction! ".
The help site tells me that I should "name their home page index.htm ". How do I go about doing this. I don't mind getting rid of the current webpage I created, as it is only a test one (how do I do this?)
If you can either answer these 2 questions re the name of my webpage, and, more importantly, how to name my home page index.htm, or direct me to where the answers may be found, I'd appreciate it.
By the way, even though I signed on as "bearsfolks", the site insists on calling me "turner111", which is another user id I had created as I was having trouble signing on under "bearsfolks"!

OK. This is weird--but I should be used to that, and just grateful that it seems to work (for now).
What I had done is FTPd some image files to my site using Filezilla, but when I had tried to access them, I was unsuccessful. I am almost sure that I used the same url (and variations of it) as you suggested, namely, http://mysite.verizon.net/username/filename , and it either did not work, or gave me the "Page under construction", or, in some cases asked me for my username and password.
But, when I did it this time, it worked. So I probably had something off, but I can now do what I want.
By the way, if you'll permit another question, while on the site-builder site, it said that there was a "Web Photo Manager", and said that "To download the Web Photo Manager: Open the Site Builder application and go to the All My Sites page. Click on the Web Photo Manager link (listed under Advanced Building Tools )." I can't find it--would you happen to know where it is?
In any case, thanks a lot for all your help--it solved my problem.

How to set multiple home pages, the option is gone (replaced my hard drive and had to reinstall firefox) This version seems to only offer tabs, not pages?

My old version of Firefox had the option for me to set multiple home pages. My hard drive recently failed and had to be replaced, so I had to install the newest version of Firefox. The only option I see when I go to tools, options, general is to set the one home page. (and maybe tabs) I would like to open several of the same pages every time I open my Firefox. Does anyone know how to get this back, or which version had this feature so I can downgrade to that particular version?
Also, I was wondering if there is a way to get the bookmarks I had on the old version back. I think they are lost forever, but if anyone knows, I would be thankful. I do still have the old hard drive, but the way it failed was actually when you tried to open any browser, the hard drive would go and blue screen, this is why the old hard drive had to be replaced. Thanks. :)

So you mean you want to open new windows with the same page when you open Firefox?

As for recovering your bookmarks, you can try to plug that hard drive into a working computer, and then read [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] to copy your bookmarks from it. However, if it is failing you may not be able to do that.

What is the best qay to create a simple page with three textbox fields

I try to create a Portal page for Password change.
At first look, I taught that to create that basic page will be easy as one, two , three.
Unfortunately not.
I need to create three textbox and include pl/sql validation agains our BD.
I usually work with a form base on procedure whose contain htp.package procedure
to create a portal page when that form is called. (Base on the way where Portal manage his own change password page.)
I try to get a better design of the page.
Where I get all the information about that package ? I want to center the page.
Oh yeah, I'm a newbie in html.

Hi,
You could create a FORM with non base table fields. You could then validate the values on SUBMIT (say through a button) and then do whatever processing,redirection needs to be done.
Or
you could create a DYNAMIC PAGE with all html fields and proper alignments etc and on form submit do the relevant processing.
