Newsfeed error

been struggling with the dist. cache and appfabric - but all is up and running now
But still I don't see any newsfeed - when I try to add a status message from the Portal I get this:
The operation failed because an internal error occurred. Internal type name: Microsoft.Office.Server.Microfeed.MicrofeedException. Internal error code 14
that's according to this
http://www.dotnetspark.com/kb/6127-internal-error-codes-sharepoint-2013-microfeed.aspx
Invalid_Content_Null_Or_Empty
- but how do I resolve this error?
- the UPSA - is this causing this error or?
The newsfeed isn't showing on the Mysite WebApplication as well...
In the event log I see
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID eeb8b69ff0426) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry.
but a Get-Cachehost says both is UP ?  and the caching services is running - so what's going on?

Hi,
From the error message, I'd suggest you restart the app fabric service and test the issue again:
Restart-Service AppFabricCachingService
If the issue persists, please refer to the article below and reprovision the Distributed Cache Service using these steps:
1.Run the PowerShell command to stop Distributed Cache Service on all the SharePoint servers one by one.
Stop-SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance -Graceful
2.Remove the Distributed Cache Service instance from all the SharePoint  servers one by one.
Remove-SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance
3.Run the PSCONFIG wizard on all the SharePoint servers
4.Add the Distributed Cache Service instance back to the SharePoint servers
Add-SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance

  • Newsfeed error - The operation failed because the server could not access the distributed cache.

    Recently installed SharePoint 2013 RTM, on the newsfeed page an error is displayed, and no entries display in the following or everyone tabs.
    "The operation failed because the server could not access the distributed cache."
    Reading through various posts, I've checked:
    - Activity feeds and mentions tabs are working as expected.
    - User Profile Service is operational and syncing as expected
    - Search is operational and indexing as expected
    - The farm was installed based on the autospinstaller scripts.
    - Don't believe this to be a permissions issue, during testing added accounts to the admin group to verify
    Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks.
    The full error message and trace logs is as follows.

  • NewsFeed Error on MySite.

    We migrated MySite from 2010 to 2013.
    1. We did backup and restored Profile DB on 2013 Server from 2010
    2. Creatd new (User Profile Service Application) but using same restored Profile DB.
    3. We can see the old profiles but unable to update the News Feed...getting errors.
    Getting massage
    We're almost ready!
    Any suggestion if we are missing something.

    Hi  ,
    SharePoint 2013 makes use of distributed cache to cache newsfeeds, microblogging, conversations, security trimming, OneNote client access, and even keeps the FedAuth cookie for claims based authentication
    on the server side.
    All Activities are written to the Distributed Cache. The microblog features and feeds rely on the Distributed Cache to store data for very fast retrieval across all entities. Feeds mainly Rely on the following
    two Caches from Distributed Cache service: Feed Cache and Last Modified Time Cache.
    If the activity is a user activity or site activity, the activity is saved to the My Sites content database; If the activity is a site feed activity, the activity is saved in the team sites content database.
    Tags and document activities are not saved to content databases. So individual My Site Newsfeed backup is not supported OOB, custom solution needs to be performed for getting My Site Newsfeed from feed cache.
    Also make sure following timer jobs ran successfully:
    1.User Profile service application name - User Profile to SharePoint Quick Synchronization
    2.User
    Profile service application name - Feed Cache Repopulation
    3.User
    Profile service application name - Activity Feed Job

  • Hashtags error out in Newsfeed

    I'm not sure what the issue is, but when adding a hashtag to the newsfeed, it errors out with a correlation ID. I have checked ULS but have not been able to find the ID at all. Permissions on UPA and the servers seem to be good. Distibuted cache is good
    as well. We are running on Feb2015CU.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    This is a new installation. We are using SAML authentication, with a third party SSO provider, Ping Federate. I do not think that this was an issue prior to turning on SAML auth.
    Here is a link to a similar thread:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/t/140799.aspx
    Upon looking further, I'm not sure it's a correlation ID, but rather the ID of the newsfeed item?

  • Page can't be displayed Error when click on Sharepoint 2103 Sites, Onedrive, Newsfeed Tab

    Ok I created a web called "sharepointstest.com", well that didn't work out well so I removed it from central administration and created a new one called "test.mydomain.com" and that is working and I was able to create some site collections.
    Now here is the problem. When I'm in one of my test.mydomain.com/sites/blog and when I click on any of the tabs on the top of the page, such as Newsfeed, onedrive, sites it loads a page that cannot be displayed and the URL is "sharepointest.com"
    which was the first site.
    Not sure why it's linked to an old webapp or how to change this, any ideas?

    HI,News feed, one drive are belongs to the My site.Please check the configuration of My site settings whether you have configured My site with the OLd URL.please check the Below Screens for the details.

  • Facebook V 3.3.0.11 newsfeed only loads when Wi-Fi connection active - get error 2001 when using cellular connection

    There are a number of very recent posts regarding a Facebook error "Facebook returned an unknown error 2001" when trying to dispaly or refresh the news feed.
    For about the past 18 hours I have been experiencing the same issue; other Facebook functions (view own profile, view friends list, view photos, ...) work fine.
    What I have noticed, though, is that FB functions as expected (i.e. news feed refreshes normally) when using a Wi-Fi connection. As soon as I disconnect from Wi-Fi and connect via a mobile connection, the problem returns.
    My wife's identical phone has also been experincing this problem since yesterday.
    Both phones are Blackberry 9700 Bold, with OS 6.0 bundle1879.
    My location is Cape Town, South Africa.

    When you get to a wifi location it should work. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

  • My Sites error - 403 and "We're almost ready!" plaguing web application

    On an in-house managed farm, a My Site web application has been created per the instructions provided from
    Microsoft. The web application uses the managed path "personal" at the root of
    http://mysites.  The initial "We're almost ready!" screen when accessing a social feature like
    Newsfeed was anticipated.  However, in attempting to update the My Site content (i.e. profile information, newsfeed settings), the user is presented with a 403 Forbidden page - "The website declined to show this page".
    In ULS, this is made abundantly clear as well in the following logs:

    Initial troubleshooting sources have included:
    Bernando Nguyen's
    post
    Praveen's TechNet
    blog
    SharePoint Brian's suggestion to re-run the Product & Config wizard here
    Troubleshooting efforts so far in addition to the sources quoted above:
    Checking account permissions (obvious, with an "access denied" message) for UPA, Metadata and Workflow service accounts
    Creating a special permission policy for the web application to allow "Everyone" to create subsites
    Checking SQL rights for SA's and their respective DB's
    Started IIS application pool "SecurityTokenServiceApplicationPool" (it was stopped initially)
    ANY help in further troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated.  I have already re-created the web application multiple times with the same results each time.  Thank you.
    Eric

    I re-created the web application again.  What's the definition of insanity?  Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?  Well, in this case I actually did get a different result.  At least this time there
    wasn't a 403 error, but a 404!  Success!
    In any case, I used a load balancer for this farm and re-mapped the bindings in IIS to point to that IP.  Lo and behold, we have lift off!  Everything is working, even the social features.  All it took was me talking to myself in a forum and
    doing repetitive tasks expecting different results... oh, hang on, there's a nice gentleman in a white coat here to take me some place nice.  Thank you!

    What i am thinking, its more Browser related issue....i would try to close the all open sessions of browser and then try it, also try to clear the browser cache and try again.

    For my currrent client I  set up a development intranet which had the seperate web apps for the main portal and mysites. Test users were able to follow documents, sites without any problems.  Before go live I was asked to accomodate a requirement
    where there is only one web application (don't ask!)  effectivley http://myintranet
    so mysites sits under http://myintranet/mysites .   I  made the appropriate changes to my AutoSPInstaller scritpt and al appearedd l good : services , Service appplications, mysites are all started.  I am using
    the two app pool accounts  one for the portal and one for mysites.
    A quick look at the the releated threads on this forum indicated permssions could be DB permissions  related tho I  am not seeing anything in ULS to strongly point to this
    $webApp = Get-SPWebApplication http://myintranet
    $webApp.GrantAccessToProcessIdentity("mydomain\SP_ProfilesAppPool")
    - checked and SPAcess Data is given to the mysites app pool accout to the portal web app .
    I am seeing some odd errors in ULS
    Ignoring the space ' critical' warning which I have flagged up to Ops and  I doubt is my real problem.  The errors I see that are related are :

  • Web Part Error in Sandbox solution

    Hi, I used the following code for "ADD POST IN NEWSFEED USING C#" in sandbox solution 2013.
                        string serverUrl = "http://sanchit:5097/";
                        string accountName = @"tafecorp\spservices";
                       SocialDataItem userMentionLink = new SocialDataItem
                            ItemType = SocialDataItemType.User,
                            AccountName = accountName
                        SocialPostCreationData postCreationData = new SocialPostCreationData();
                        postCreationData.ContentText = "{0} does great work!";
                        postCreationData.ContentItems = new SocialDataItem[1] { userMentionLink, };
                        try
                            ClientContext clientContext = new ClientContext(serverUrl);
                            SocialFeedManager feedManager = new SocialFeedManager(clientContext);
                            feedManager.CreatePost(null, postCreationData);
                            clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
                            lblReport.Text = "The post was published";
                        catch (Exception ex)
                            lblReport.Text = ex.ToString();
    When i run the code the following error comes.  How to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.
    Web Part Error: Unhandled exception was thrown by the sandboxed code wrapper's Execute method in the partial trust app domain: An unexpected error has occurred. Correlation ID: 5f639c9c-7639-50f3-7dce-34ae387d3ed0.

    Well it's taken a few days but I've finally managed to work this one out however it did involve me having to dissect the whole project and reintroduce each piece one at a time.
    A few issues were causing it:-
    1) I had set one of the projects "Include Assembly in Package" property to false.
    2) A static method was making a call to an SPList which turned an empty (null) value. Added a value to that item and the error disappeared.
    3) I'd declared a variable as being of type double and set its default value as 0.
    Now why the system couldn't have told me that's what the problems were rather than throwing this generic error is a different story! It would have saved me many an hour of confusion.

  • 500 internal error in one WFE

    I have SharePoint farm with 3 WFE. Site gives 500 error wheneve it hits one of the WFEs. Strange part is same site will load with Newsfeed, skydrive and sites at top once and again will not have those features if you open up from the other browser and eventually
    it will get 500 error. While tracing the logs i found it was giving 500 error in one of the WFE.
    I even deleted the web application and recreated it. It is just happening in this web application.
    The error is :
     Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+Trident/6.0;+SLCC2;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.5.30729;+.NET+CLR+3.0.30729;+Media+Center+PC+6.0;+InfoPath.3;+.NET4.0C;+.NET4.0E;+MS-RTC+LM+8;+MS-RTC+LM+8)
    - 500 0 0 1638
    What does this mean?

    Found out the error. While doing configuration change for FBA, wrong web.config file was used in STS token. That made it give 500  internal server error.

  • Error handling with CFFEED?

    Hello, does anyone have a suggestion on handling errors from
    CFFEED reads?
    I'm reading an ATOM RSS feed from another site, but if there
    is ever an issue with that remote site, it would prevent my page
    from loading.
    If, for example, the RSS feed wasn't available, I would get
    an "Unable to read the source URL" error page.
    What I would like to have happen would be the page to
    continue processing, and instead of displaying the <CFOUTPUT
    query = "myQuery">, instead display something like "There was a
    problem with the newsfeed".
    Is there any way to ignore a "fatal error" from a CF tag, and
    just move on with processing the rest of the page?
    The code I've used here is Adobe's example for the CFFEED
    tag. The RSS URL I'm testing with is:
    http://feeds.emsresponder.com/emsresponderrss/top_ems_news
    Thanks in advance!
    -Ian in Los Angeles

    Use CFTRY and CFCATCH as suggested above. These tags can be
    used around pretty much any potentially problematic code.
    A good idea might be to put a CFMAIL tag in the CFCATCH which
    will notify you if something is wrong - although, this depends on
    how many people you'll have viewing the page, because you could end
    up getting a lot of emails - I'm sure there must be a better
    solution somewhere though, just an idea really.
