Next week option.

Hi all,
A small project that I have made needs to show data from a
database per week.
I know how to show the stuff from the database, so this is no
problem, but I'm lost with how to get the needed days per week.
What I'm after is a way to get the date of the 1st day of the
week (starting with Monday) and the last day of that week (Sunday),
and this for the complete month (and if needed the beginning of the
next month incase the month does not end on Sunday)
Anyone here who might have info / demo code on how to do
this?

Ical moving item in week view to next week view - can you drag it

i like to drag items not completed from a week view to the next week view, but as with Office 2007 you cant just drag the event from the week view to the months calendar view on the side and drop it into a new date.
I know if you use month view, it make is easy but month view is my least preferred display option, also in month view, to drag to the next month is no possible.
I wonder what is a quickstep to do this, it must be annoying for others

Try using (⌘+C) and then (⌘+V). That action retains the event in the original, while also placing a duplicate in the new location.
If you want to remove the event from the original time, use (⌘+X), then (⌘+V) in the new time frame.

Cannot turn on "Show the day of the week" option in Date & Time

OS X Lion turns "Show the day of the week" option off each time I open that preference pane and after every reboot. My region in Formats tab of Language & Text preference pane is set to "Russia (Russian)". I've noticed that the problem doesn't appear when region is set to US (I didn't try others). Is there any known workaround, except changing my region preference?

And I have a workaround, until Фззду fixes it finally:
1) Go to the ~/Library/Preferences, locate a file named com.apple.menuextra.clock.plist, open it with Plist editor (comes with XCode) or just with TextEdit.
2) There's DateFormat key in it, change it to "EEE H:mm", save the file.
3) Now Cmd-I (right click - Get info) on that file in Finder, and check option named "Locked" ("Защита").
System Preferences' Date & Time pane sets the aforementioned DateFormat to "ccc H:mm" when you tick the "Show the day of the week" option, while in Russian locale. And in English it becomes "EEE H:mm". The problem is that Sys.pref and even SystemUIServer (that shows the menu) processes somehow do not like the former value and erase it. After every relaunch of SystemUIServer (after reboot or being killed) tries to change "EEE" to "ccc" again (which would be cleared to nothing next time), that is why you have to lock the plist file.

How to drag drop a calendar item to a time in next week ?

creating a event through a big menu is fine ... but a very elegant and quick way is to select the cells and write the event. similarly, drag-drop a event is super easy way to re-schedule an event to another time. when i have 20-30 events to re-schedule from current to next week, drag-drop is best.
however, i am unable to do that. when i drag drop, i cant drop it to next week (i am using weekly view to be able to select any time of destination day for drop - the bi-weekly or monthly views don't allow choice of destination time)
this could be implemented in two ways :
1. in current weekly view, if the drag crosses the boundary, calendar shifts to the next (or previous) week. and then i drop the event.
2. there can be a option to see upto 2 weeks in columns just like 1 week view. i understand that the columns will be too tight but the fullscreen option makes it very usable.
or, you can suggest your own work-around.

instead of using target, try using currentTarget...

ICan't ReInstall my computer please help. need to use Mac for school next week

I use my Mac for School and stuff happened.
Long story short.
1) I tried to reset my Mac Book Pro computer and I did.( by pressing option key and go to disk utility and erase tab and erase)
2) then I know I was supposed to go to Reinstall OS X Lion and I did but I quit. (took 10 hrs and plus my internet is bad and couldn't DL the other stuff)
3) I remembered that I had a recovery disk. so I inserted it and I went to the disk utility, dragged the Macintosh HD to the restore tab, destination, and it copied my recovery disk data? to my Machintosh HD and the name of it changed to Mac OS X Base System ( the name of my recovery disk)
4) and I tried to restart, shut down my computer, it sends me to the same Mac OS Utilities. Again.
5) so I went to Reinstall Mac OS Lion, agreed, and the download destination usually should be the Macintosh HD ( for me its Mac OS X Base System right now) but it said it is locked (because I'm dumb) and i can't install it now.
6) i don't know what to do now because this is not my computer that I'm sending this support from. and I can't use my original Mac Book. what should I do?
AND I NEED TO USE THE MAC NEXT WEEK FOR SCHOOL.

For those who wonder why I wanted to reset/restore my MacBook Pro or, want to hear the long story:
I play League of Legends, Steam, Osu! on my Mac and it took alot of capacity (or space).
And League of Legends has thisthing called "Item sets" that when you save it, it doesnt save it in the client (or app), it saves the "item sets" data in your computer (took alot of capacity/space)
Not just that, and I had iPhoto but when i downloaded iLife to my mac, and after that, it said my iPhoto is damaged and it can't open.
And summer ended, my parents said If I fail my 11th grade, they are going to kick me out so I told them I'm going to reset my Mac to factory settings and get a fresh start, well this happened.

hi there! I got it back to work by buying the USB version of Mac OS X Lion 10.7
and since my internet connections are kinda bad, I'm not able to download and update it to 10.7.5.
but anyways I got it back to work.
All I can say is I suggest you to buy the USB version of Mac OS X Lion 10.7 from amazon or apple store.

Calendar: Can you add an event for just 'NEXT' week?

Often I'll need to repeat an event next week at the same time.
In iOS calendar, there are options to repeat an event Every Day, Week, 2 weeks, month and year.
I would like to repeat an event Next Week
Is there no way to simply way to do this without having to re-input the information?
I'd love to simply cut and paste if possible.

Maybe I'm just blind, but I don't see any option showing 'end repeat'.
Frankly, I don't even see the option that would allow me to select 'next week'
All I see is the option with the word EVERY day, week, etc...

I am trying to use Find My Phone for people to follow me on the NYC Marathon next week. Is there a way to set up a temporary User ID and Password to give out to people for this purpose? I would obviously want to delete that log in info after the race.

New York Runners has an app that is specially designed to do exactly that. It's (or will be) available in the App Store.

You might also look at apps like RunMeter. It will let you send updates by email, Facebook or Twitter. Glympse is another app that, though not designed specifically for runners, might also be useful.

Drag meeting to next week

OK, here's something that should be totally simple: Drag a meeting into next week (when looking at the week view in iCal).
Evidently, Apple has not implemented active borders so that when you drag something to the edge of the window it scrolls the contents of the window underneath.
Of course, lots of other Apple (and other vendor) apps do this. So much for a consistent GUI.
Anyone?

Testing this on the Calendar.app in OSX 10.8.2, it works as you would expect. Drag the event to the edge of the calendar view and hold it there and the view scrolls to the following week.
I can't test in OSX 10.7 right now.

Month View - always show next week, even if in next month

Is there a way to always show the next week in Month view?
i.e. I'd always like to see Next week, even if it's in the next month.
e.g. June ends Saturday 30th, but I cannot see Next Week unless I skip to next month.

This drives me nuts, too. Hopefully someone has a solution!

2 weeks option in the Calendar view in SharePoint

A client of mine asked for it, and although I looked for it over several search engines, I never found anything...
The Calendar view in SharePoint give three options : Day Week, Month.
My client asked if there is a possibility to have a "2 Weeks" option, similar to the Week (optionally with the ability to decide whether to show week-end days on not).

If you want to view two weeks, you can use month view. It includes two weeks view.
Or you can use two calendars, each calendar show one week.

I am travelling to the Philippines next week and I have been told my iphone and ipad chargers will work with the 220v there. Do I need to be concerned and buy any type of converter?

I am traveling to the Philippines next week and am confused on whether I need to buy a converter to be able to charge my Iphone (and Ipad). I was told I did not as the chargers were universal and automatically converted anywhere from 100 to 240v depending on what you plug into.
I would just like some more confirmations if any one has traveled internationally.

No, but most international airports I have been to have convenience stores that sell the plug adapters. And there are always other shops with the adapters so it is easy to get exactly what you need after you get there.

Travel to UK with iPhone next week. A few questions if you please!

My daughter is going to visit the UK next week. She will be bringing her iPhone. I have bought her a plug adapter that does not convert voltage because it is my understanding that the Apple adaptor will take 220 fine. Also, the data roaming has been turned off. She has been told not to try to use the internet unless she has WIFI access. I will call ATT on Monday to buy international calling, which brings the roaming charges down a little, but not much.
Now the questions: Will the phone work in the UK reliably? How the heck do you dial an american phone number from the UK Let's say you want to dial 714-555-1212 from the UK, what prefixes are needed when you dial. I don't want her to place her calls with operator assistance! Any other comments would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

When you put numbers in a mobile phone, it's always best to enter internationally formatted numbers.
For the US, that's +1 714 555 1212 for the number you mentioned, or for a UK number such as 01312 345678, it'd be +44 1312 345 678 (leave out the first '0'). Obviously, +1 is the US country code, +44 is the UK. Check out this wikipedia link for other countries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listof_international_callprefixes
The iPhone - even the US iPhone, works fine in the UK, as it's a GSM phone (the technology used for pretty much every country's predominant cell networks except the US). Mine's been without issue.
One thing that nobody thinks of, but everyone could possibly need - emergency services. It's a common misconception in the UK that 911 works, but it will not. Remember to use 999, or the European-wide (and world wide for GSM phones) 112
Oh yeah, and last but not least, visit Scotland, especially the highlands.

Date Picker with Previous and Next Year Options

Hi All,
I am implementing a date picker in my application which is tied to an attribute of type PA0001-BEGDA. Date Picker as such works fine but navigating to previous year and Next year options are not available. User has to go month by month to different years if they have to navigate.
Is this the normal behavior of the Date Picker or am I missing something else to get the previous and Next year icons in the Date Picker.

hmm..I tried using the select options and it did give the same date picker with the previous and Next navigation icons...The only problem with the select options is that its a single field which has the range and can accept multiple values too...
I tried to figure out how the date picker that we use in the custom application and the one in Select Options differ but no luck...Does this ring any bell?
