NI-Scope NI 5102 Timeout

I am using a NI-Scope card NI5102 to aquire pulses, and therfore using edge
trigger. I periods were ther are no pulses I want to acuire the noise. This
can be done by changing the triggering mode by the software, an it works
fine. The problem is the transition from edge triggering to direct trigering
takes to long time 2,5seconds. When in edge triggering mode I use the status
VI to check if the aquisition has finished and it seems that this VI waits
in 2,5 seconds before it return a status when there is no trigger. Can this
wait/timeout be set?? I am using IVI drivers and I do not find were to set
timeout values!

Hey guang,
The examples are located in C:\Program Files\IVI\Drivers\niScope\Examples\VisualBasic. If you do not have these, download and install the newest ni-Scope driver (2.7) from the website and look again.
look here for newest driver:

  • Using tektronix scope results in timeout error?

    I am measuring on channel 1 and gives the command curve? to send the curvedata to Labview. when I want to switch the scope to channel 2 and give command curve again for sending the channel 2 curvedata to Labview I get a timeouterror in instrumentI/O assistant. very strange I think? Why is it working on channel one but not when I switch channel(from the program)?

    It's related to another post:

    A large file upload cause the web server crashing, could it be something to do with timeout value?
    Can you please advise some configurations in this scope?

    What timeout value are you referring to? Anyway, any timeout settings that you define should not result in a crash.

  • Is there a bug with stateful WebServices in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 ?

    Hi
    I created an ultra simple JAX-RPC Webservice from the following class using the JDeveloper WebService Wizard:
    class myWebService
      private static int SessionId;
      public myWebService() {SessionId++;}
      public int getSessionID() {return SessionId;}
    } I declared this WebService as Stateful with Session Scope. The Timeout is 600s;
    Running this WebService in JDeveloper 10.1.3 (using the generated HTML-Testinterface) I see that "getSessionID" returns the same ID on each invocation. Obviously state is managed correctly.
    However, running the same WebService in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 I see that "getSessionID" returns a different ID on each invocation. Obviously state has been lost.
    Is this a bug in JDeveloper?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How I break while loop activity in BPEL process

    Hi Guys,
    I want to do a polling action in my bpel process, I put in the polling code in while activity ,
    I try two way to do the break :
    1. use the Flow activity , one sequence for while loop activity , one sequence for timeout flow , put waiting activity in it ,config timeout ... but Flow activity complete only when all branch complete . so it seems there is no way to break Flow from one branch.
    2.use onalarm branch of scope ... put while activity code in a scope activity , create onalarm branch for this scope ,config the timeout time ... but onalarm branch can't bypass the scope sequence...
    Any advice ?
    Thanks
    Kevin
    Edited by: kyi on Oct 29, 2009 1:01 PM

    The on-alarm branch of the scope should work.
    Maybe not so neat but you could try to do a scope with a flow within that. Put in one of the flow-branches a wait. After the wait throw an exception.
    You can catch that exception in a catch branch of the surrounding scope.

    Hi,
    I keep getting a timeout error (-1073807339) when I run the "wait for operation complete" sub-VI that comes with the tektronix DPO4000 series oscilloscope driver. I'm using a DPO4054 scope. The error out source is the VISA Read STB command, but I can't figure out what's wrong. Has anyone else encountered this error? Please help!

  • Acquire Signal with NI-SCOPE 5102

    Hello. i'm a beginner in LabView. I have to acquire signal from a NI-Scope 5102 and I have absolutely no idea how to do that in LabView, I instaled the drivers but in my computer I don't have the acquisition boards. I tried to see the examples and I can´t find nothing that can possibly help me. I need a step-by-step explanation of what to do.

    FilipeV wrote:
    All right I will tell you what I have to do. In college we built a printed circuit board that produces a triangular and square signal. In the second part of the work we have to build a virtual instrument capable of selecting only of both signal or both of them at the same time, display in a graph the selected signal and saving the values in a file. The signals generated in the circuit will be read with a NI-Scope 5102. If you wanted to do this what would you do?
    I will see the examples and try to understand what I should do.
    I only had one lesson of LabView and we didn't do anything like this. We only worked with some waves and learned to control the frequency and other parameters, and to view the waves on a graph. That's why I'm so confused with this.
    I'd cheat.  You haven't been properly trained with the tool.
    Use Signal Express Set up measurement step and data logging.  Configure the OI with a boxes for chanel selection. test it.  Generate LabVIEW code
    The context aware help you'll have in SE will probably teach you a bit about scopes too.
    (I can't believe I just said that but if the profs won't teach the tools that only leaves bad practices to get'r'done) Don't think that your programming that way though

  • Output pulse with NI-Scope only, on 5102 PFI line

    The NI-Scope documentation briefly mentions a "Configure Digital Output" function, but it is not clear exactly what this does, and what parameters are available (e.g., pulse width, polarity, stand-off, etc...), or if it merely "configures", and another function is needed to actually generate the pulse.
    Programming in VB, with NI-Scope, for the 5102, what NI-Scope function(s) would I call to initiate an output pulse on a PFI line? What parameters of the pulse can be controlled?
    Thank you, Ed More

    Hello Ed,
    You need to use functions in NI-DAQ in either LabVIEW or ComponentWorks to do this. There are some examples and a knowlegdebase article that describe this.
    Here are the links:

    If the links do not work, go to developer zone and search on 5102 and pfi to find the examples and go to support and search in knowledgebase on 5102 and pfi for t

  • Labview example for data capture using 5102 scope card

    How can I program a Labview Vi to control, and capture a waveform using the 5102 scope card. I need to be able to set it up to continually capture a waveform (Channel 1 and Channel 2) when triggered on a rising edge of channel 1 and then store the data on disk automatically, then wait for the next trigger.
    Any help or tips as to how I could do it would be helpful.

  • Why is it that I can't do a continuous streaming to disk with a 5102 scope card (PCI) when I can do it with a DAQ Card of much lower specs (my requirement is for small sampling rates only)?

    I am told that the 5102 Card (PCI) does not support continuous streaming of data to the hard disk. My application requires only very low sampling rates. If I can do it with a low spec DAQ Card using LabView why can't I do it with this card?

    Hello,
    The PCI-5102 is a high-speed digitizer card that has a slightly different architecture than the DAQ cards and was not built with the ability to stream data to the PC. However if you are sampling at low rates you can still acquire up to 16 million samples, which is done by using dma to tranfer data from the onboard memory on the 5102 to the PC memory. However, you will not be able to save the data to disk until the acquisition is complete.
    Another option would be to purchase either a DAQ card or a PCI-5112. Both boards can continuously stream data to the host PC and you should not run into any PCI bus limitations if you are stream to disk at relativiely slower rates.

  • AT-5102 scope card

    because of hardware failure, trying to get my old
    AT-5102(ISA)cca to work in the short term, Have back reved LV to 5.1 loaded 6.1 NI-DAC, reprogrammed code under 5.1 platform. Code shows no error. Problem is the system (instrument wizard) does not see the cca. Do I need a driver? any ideas why I cann't get the thing to work. Platform is win 98.

    The AT-5102 card is supported by NI-DAQ 6.1. You are using the correct driver, but it may have been installed incorrectly. Please try reinstalling the driver.

    hi
    this can be done using a simple "Servlet Filters" which will check whether the user session is valid or not. so for every connect to the server the filter runs and redirects to the login page if the session has expired. here you can configure your filter to be activated for every URL or a patterns of urls.
    u need servlet2.3 supported server for this.
    hope this helps

    I have an business j2ee application run on oc4j. When the session timeout declared on the web.xml expire, i want to redirect automaticaly the user to my login.jsp to force him to reconnect. I try j_security_chek, but i want to restart the business application at the top and not to the page which are request. Somebody know who i can do this mechanism. I try too special tag in jsp, this run very good but i have to repeate this call on every page. I look for an other simply mechanism to that

  • How to set session timeout per user

    Hi,
    Ho do I set the session timeout per User in the
    Application.cfm File??
    I tried using
    <cfif SESSION.UID EQ 1>
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    sessiontimeout="#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,20,0)#">
    </cfelse>
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    sessiontimeout="#CreateTimeSpan(1,0,0,0)#">
    </cfif>
    But this didnt work because the cfapplication seems to have
    to be at the top before I call the variable SESSION.UID which
    I set on my login page..
    Someone know how to do this??
    Regards
    Martin

    Martin,
    Your code example cannot work because the "session" scope
    doesn't exist until your application scope is defined. So you have
    to handle this manually. Here's how you can get it done. First,
    define your application to the maximum sessiontimeout you want to
    have.
    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="appControl" SESSIONMANAGEMENT="Yes"
    SESSIONTIMEOUT="#CreateTimeSpan(1,0,0,0)#">
    Then, I don't know how you are doing your login
    authentication but when you have authenticated the user, you need
    to define the userid and the most recent activity in the session.
    Also determine your timeout value based on the userid. See example:
    <CFIF IS_AUTHENTICATED>
    <CFSET session.user.uid = form.userid>
    <CFSET session.user.most_recent_activity = now()>
    <CFIF session.user.id eq 1>
    <CFSET session.user.timeout_mins = 20>
    <CFELSE>
    <CFSET session.user.timeout_mins = 1440>
    </CFIF>
    </CFIF>
    Now, all you have to do is check whether the user has been
    idle for too long and kill the session by purging all session
    variables. For example:
    <!--- if user id is defined, this means user is logged in
    --->
    <CFIF structKeyExists(session, "user") and
    structKeyExists(session.user, "id")>
    <!--- check if timeout has expired --->
    <CFIF datediff("n", session.user.most_recent_activity,
    now()) gt session.user.timeout_mins>
    <!--- timeout has expired, kill the session and log the
    user out --->
    <CFSET StructClear(session)>
    <!--- insert your logout code here --->
    <CFELSE>
    <!--- user hasn't timed out, so reset the most recent
    activity to now --->
    <CFSET session.user.most_recent_activity = now()>
    </CFIF>
    </CFIF>

  • Adding a timeout to Auto Complete doesn't work for IE

    We implemented our own declarative auto complete component. So we're manually handling KeyUp and KeyDown.
    One thing that we need to do is to add a timeout so that when the user is typing, we don't fire the bean code to do the query on every key pressed, but only do it after say half a second. That way if the user is intending to type 3 keys, we only need to fire our query once, where realHandleKeyUpOnSuggestField is the function that calls the query among other things.
    This is called from our ClientListener
    function handleKeyUpOnSuggestField(evt) {
        var realHandleKeyUpOnSuggestField = function () {
            // start the popup aligned to the component that launched it
            var inputField = evt.getSource();
            var suggestPopup = inputField.findComponent("suggestPopup");
            //   var suggestTable = inputField.findComponent("suggestTable");
            //don't open when user "tabs" into field
            var valueStr = inputField.getSubmittedValue();
            // Special characters coming from scanner. Don't popup if that's the case.
            if (suggestPopup.isShowing() == false && evt.getKeyCode() != AdfKeyStroke.TAB_KEY) {
                //hints = {align:AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_AFTER_START, alignId:evt.getSource().getClientId()+"::content"};
                var alignTo = inputField.getClientId() + "::content";
                var hints = {
                    align : AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_AFTER_START, alignId : alignTo
                suggestPopup.show(hints);
                //disable popup hide to avoid popup to flicker on
                //key press
                suggestPopup.hide = function () {
            //suppress server access for the following keys
            //for better performance
            if (evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.ARROWLEFT_KEY || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.ARROWRIGHT_KEY || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.ARROWLEFT_KEY || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.SHIFT_MASK || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.END_KEY || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.ALT_KEY || evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.HOME_KEY) {
                return false;
            if (evt.getKeyCode() == AdfKeyStroke.ESC_KEY) {
                hidePopup(evt);
                return false;
                // query suggest list on the server
                AdfCustomEvent.queue(suggestPopup, "suggestServerListener",
                // Send single parameter
                    filterString : valueStr
    true);
        var inputField = evt.getSource();
        if (window["timer" + inputField.getClientId()]) {
            window.clearTimeout(window["timer" + inputField.getClientId()]);
        window["timer" + inputField.getClientId()] = window.setTimeout(realHandleKeyUpOnSuggestField, 500);
    }This works fine in FireFox and Safari and Chrome, but not in IE.

    When I debugged through, it seems like the event's getKeyCode() doesn't exist. I'm assuming it's something to do with scope for IE working different than FireFox.
    I realize this is more JavaScript question, but I'm wondering if anyone got something like that to work on ADF. As far as I know, there's no other way besides using JavaScript and IE doesn't seem handle scoping very well. I can't use a global parameter because I'm using this in a component and you can have multiple components in a page.

    Clicking the link to the .PDF launches the file in a browser (same gimped toolbar for both IE 8 and Firefox). When I right-click the .PDF toolbar in-browser, I have access to the following toolbars:
    File
    Find
    Page Display
    Page Navigation
    Select and Zoom
    Tasks
    I don't see anything for Commenting / Annotation.
