NI update service in need of improvement

Today I got a popup window notifying me about critical updates.
Unfortunately the NI Update Service seems not to work.
First, it displays the same patch twice, probably because there is the administrator account and the user account. Stupid enough that the same patch has to be downloaded twice.
Second, chosing 'Select All' and 'Install' makes the update service run again. So I have to choose 'Select All' and 'Install' again.
Now, however, the Service is unable to download updates and one has to browse the NI web site to search for this security patch. I'd suggest to patch the Update Service, too.

As Verne stated, the error Wolfgang experienced is an error with Update Service. We actually have updated Update Service and that is part of the problem described here. This update was never intended to be displayed in Update Service version 1.x. The update is intended to be distributed through Update Service 2.0 only or through web download. The reason for this is because Update Service 1.x cannot handle the logic we are using to distinguish between systems that need the update and systems that do not. Update Service 1.x may show multiple entries for the same update and will not remove these entries after the update has been applied.
Installing the update multiple times, as may have occurred for users who attempted to download the update through Update Service 1.x, will not have any ill concequences. Also, installing the update if your system does not need it will not cause any side effects.
We have temporarily removed the update from our Update Service servers while we resolve this issue. In the meantime, you may download the update from our Drivers & Updates page. This is also where you should download the update from if you do not have Update Service 2.0 (installed with LabWindows/CVI 2010 SP1).

Listen. This service is, has been and seemingly will be: FREE. So while emotions are running on the hot side of the guage, let's remember; it is FREE. Adobe owes no one anything. Now who's to blame, really? We, the people are to blame. Why? Because everyone has been ok with the fact that one company essentially designed and released a technology for streaming from the net. One company. And almost all of us are using this one company's technology to stream; for FREE.
But now we are not ok with it when, after we are prompted to update, we have the issue of it not working? We all never saw the ridiculously high potential for this one company to screw things up, intentionally or otherwise? What the ramifications, that we are now experiencing, might be? Nah, we just took it for granted that we would continue to be served. Well the serve came, everyone. Mistake or otherwise.
It's like this country [US], up until four-years ago. Everyone was either running around with snow shovels and hefty garbage bags to gather all the money they were making or sailing the seas of expectation and an, 'I am out there to get mine' attitude, and then the sh*t hits the fan and now people are complaining? About the very system until four years ago was spoon feeding them poolside with mai-tai's? While it was crushing everyone else in the known world?
No doubt it seems incredulous that a multi-billion dollar company has an IT department that would include in an update, for their own software, that would be inconducive to working. No doubt. But keep in mind: we are all either using browsers by Apple or MS. Anything happens to these browsers, including a virus or anything else that threatens our use of them and...?
So climb off the haughty, 'I deserve' crap and walk on the solid ground of trying to resolve this issue here at Adobe and around the net. If we were to band together, as the 99%, we could solve this, no problem. But then that holds true with resolving this fictitious economic downturn nonsense, that we solidly take for truth at face value, because our mainstream media says so. But no other species on this rock flying through space would know what the f*ck we were talking about.

The Ni Update service does't work, it needs a new version but can't download it.

1-When I start VISAIC.exe in Windows 7, the following error appears: Run Time error R60360 -CRT not initialized.
2-The Ni Update service in MAX does't work, it needs a new version but can't download it.
What can I do ?

Hopefully you won't have to make a trip to the Apple Store.
Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that does not help, restore the software > iTunes: Restoring iOS software

Software Update Service house cleaning

What controls house cleaning for the Software Update Service? If I ask it to stop mirroring updates that have long since been applied, the files still hide in /usr/share/swupd/.
Deselecting the mirroring of an update doesn't help.
The normal house keeping tasks don't seem to clear it out.
I could just navigate to the directory and delete by hand, but that just doesn't seem The MacWay™...

This is probably because you had it set to copy everything automatically in the first place and then you switched that option off. We run into the same problem and, unfortunately, you just have to bear the huge download of the last 4 years worth of Apple updates... Once that has been downloaded SUS will obey new settings. You may need to manually enable the updates if you changed that setting since the download started.
Mind it, since you would have everything there anyway there would be less of an issue leaving on the automatic download option...

Problems with Lion Software Update service

I just recently upgraded our Xserve to Lion server so we could start deploying Lion clients. The upgrade seemed to go fine, but the Software Update service may end up being a deal breaker. I can get Lion clients to connect to the server for updates, that is not a problem. The problem is when Lion client says it needs to download additional software to run a program, in our case a Java runtime environment. When it looks on the software update server it says "The software is currently unavailable, please try again later." If I point it back to Apple it works just fine. We need to have our clients recieving updates locally for bamdwisth reasons, but if they cant get the software that they need then it makes having a local SU server useless. Anyone know how to fix that? And on a side note the new Server app that is supplied with Lion doesn't list SU as a service, and I can't figure out how to add or remove the services. Am I missing something? Thanks.

To access many of the Server Tools in Lion Server you'll have to go to apple's website and download the Server Admin for 10.7 Server. This is the familar to 10.6.x server admin tool that apple does not include as the standard set of tools. Once you download it you'll have access to these additional services via the GUI:

Error while installing the BAM Updater Service in Windows

Hi all,
I am getting an error while installing the BAM updater service in Windows. When i type the "oraclebpmdatawarehouse install " command in the command prompt it gives error as follows:
d:\OraBPMEnterpriseHome\bin>oraclebpmwarehouse install
Installing...
wrapper | OpenSCManager failed - Access is denied. (0x5)
Please can anyone tell me how to get rid of this error.
I have already done everything else like setting the database and other things.

From the error message you specified, I guess you are trying to install MS Office SP2 package. If you are then its not MS Office package its just a Service Pack; something like a patch. You need to install a Full Base package first. Again, as mentioned by Rajiv - refer to MS Support

Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.

I have the following scenario for the installation of EPM 2013 environment:
1 Server running Windows 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2
1 Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1, running Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard Initially installed and then migrated to the Enterprise in order to install Project Server 2013), Project Server 2013 and Workflow 1.0 (2013).
After configuring and validating the configuration of Workflow 1.0 by http://server_name.example.com:12291 page and also check the Application Services in Central Administration and receive the Workflow Status = Connected.
Alright, but when I run the SPD 2013 RTM to test the creation of Sharepoint Workflow 2013, I get the following warning:
"Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities."
I've tried:
a. Restart SPD2013;
b. Restart Server 2013 and Sharepoint Workflow 1.0;
c. Reinstall and reconfigure Workflow 1.0
And the message is always displayed, preventing the use of Workflow Sharepoint 2013.
Can anyone help me, I'm in the middle of a deployment to a customer.

Error: Flash Player "Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem ..."

I get the following message as soon as I boot up my PC:
"Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
According to Adobe, this is the first time they've heard of this issue.

Unchecking auto updates does not stop the message for me.
Sorry to hear that too. I actually recommended this to a few friends who were having the same issue, and it worked for them.
But, I'm wondering.... Have you tried disabling the check for updates settings in both the (Window's Control Panel's) Global settings manager and the (online) Global Notifications Settings panel? (That's the one on this page -- http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l ) On that page, click on the "Globe with the Check Mark" tab and make sure that the box is blank.

I will post what I found out myself and it has been now 4 days now since I have had the "FlaahPlayertUpdateService.exe" error pop up.
I'm Betty A Knight, 90-year old retired Mainframe Computer Programmer and retired Independent Internet Contractor for Compuserve and Microsoft (MSN) and also a Beta Tesater for "Windows 95." I received the two or three emails from you and just before I received them, something happened which I will tell you about which I did before I received your emails so that I have not tried them yet but I have not received the "FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe" errors for two days now.
I have been trying to debug this myself just but really only thinking logically.
So, everytime I tried to update the Flash download it would download it but then stop when it hit the install part telling me I had another version of Flash and the install couldn't continue. I searched every way I knew possibly to the find the Flash program that the system claimed I was running. So in trying something else (I have my system set to show "hidden" files and Ia tried this:
C:/Document and Settings/Betty A Knight/Local Settings/Application Data and I found an icon for Flash. The problem is (which happens to the memory of 90-year old people) I can't remember if it was in Local Settings or Application Data but I deleted that Flash icon from which ever place I found it. Then I tried to download a new copy of Flash from your website and it downloaded and finished correctly.
Now for four (4) days, I have not received the "FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe" error. As I said the normal searching for a duplicate Flash turned up nothing. Only looking in the "hidden" files did I find a copy of Flash.
I hope I have written this so that you can understand what I have written. If I start to get this error again then I will follow all of your emails and help to debug for tis error (if it continues). So in essence, I had to find and delete a current version of Flash, install a new one to so far not get this error.

Update Service is not working - T700

Hi,
I recently bought a Sony Ericsson T700 and I am trying to use update service features. I have downloaded the Update Service software from the sony ericsson website. When I am trying to follow the guidelines(Switching off and Restarting the system, connecting the USB cable to the system, and then pressing C and connecting the USB to the mobile), I get an error saying "One of the USB drives has malfunctioned...". I had called up the support team, sent a mail and then as per the instructions, I had uninstalled the software and reinstalled the same and tried the whole process again. Still I keep getting the same error message.
Can you please advise what needs to be done ?
(P.S : There is no problem with the USB cable,as I am able to perform data transfer and other functions).

I mentioned that with respect to the error message you keep getting regarding failure of USB drives when trying to use the Update Service, which you mentioned in your original message.So which successful data transfer were you referring to? And what exactly happened when you tried to update the software over the air?

SEUS update service problem

Hi all,
I have an Xperia X10 on vodafone australia. vodafone only recently released the updates for the x10, so i ran the update service. Only problem is, the update service doesn't work.
I make it to the screen where SEUS has confirmed that my phone needs to be updated, then proceeds to download the new firmware. only problem is, when the download is 500kb away from being completed (147.1 / 147.7 KB), it will stop and do nothing. when i then cancel the update then start it again, it will resume the download for a DIFFERENT SIZED FILE (131.7 mb) which, if i left the update going after it froze, is already half downloaded (implying that it's still downloading something even though it says it's stopped. i've tried restarting my computer, restarting the program, trying the program on another computer, leaving the battery out of my phone for over 30 seconds, everything that a techy would get you to do.
I'm running SEUS on windows 7 64bit, running as admin. i also tried it on a 32bit vista laptop, but i had the same problem.
does anyone else have this problem? can an admin point me in the right direction to fix this? is there anywhere i can download the necessary files and place them in a folder so that SEUS can update from file instead of from download?
i'm really begging for help here, i'm still stuck on R1FA014, the keyboard is starting to give me the sh!ts.

What are the differences between the Caching and the Software Update Services

New to working with OS X Server and am confused about the differences between the Caching Service and the Software Update Service...it seems to me that they overlap in that i) the Caching Service updates OS X software, iOS software and any apps purchased from the app store while ii) the Software Update service updates OS X software.
If the above is correct they why would one run both Services? I would think that one would run the Caching Service and call it a day!
And while on the subject, what about caching and pushing third party apps like MS Office?

The only thing I can think of is if you got a replacement D610 as rumored here:

In that case, you would need the new version of Camera RAW or DNG converter as per Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras .
The other thing to check is if the files open in the Nikon native ViewNX software. If they don't it's time to call the service center.
