NI USB CAN 8473 with real time engine

i am using NI USB CAN 8473, its driver version 2.5.2 and labview 8.2. I havle all these installed in one laptop and i am able to send and receive can messages. Now i built the .exe of the same vi and trying to run it another laptop which doesn't have Labview installed in it. But i have installed run time for 8.2 and same NI-USB-CAN driver 2.5.2
But still it is not working in the second laptop. Can any one support me for the same...

Hi Manhesh,
I think you meant to say, "Does the USB CAN 8473 work with the LabVIEW Run Time Engine?" LabVIEW Real-Time Module and Engine are not the same thing as the LabVIEW Run-Time. (Just a side note that the USB CAN devices do NOT work on LabVIEW Real-Time OSes).
Can you tell us a little more on how it is not working? Is the executable loading, but you don't see CAN traffic? Is this your LabVIEW VI that you builting into an EXE, or an example? Does an example CAN program from the example finder built into an EXE work OK? Do other LabVIEW built EXE work OK? Does your USB CAN device show in MAX?

My executable compiled with Real Time Engine 5.1.1 in App Builder gives error when trying to run in App Builder with RTE 6.1

Hello. I built an executable using App Builder in LV 5.1.1 and now, years later, I am trying to run it in LV 6.1 but I get an error stating a requirement for Run Time Engine version 5.1.1. To be able to run this, must I install the older version of Run Time Engine? If so, where can I find the older version? Do I have to install the older version of LabVIEW to get the RTE? Will having both versions on my pc be a problem?
I assume that once I am able to run the exe, that I will be able to recompile with the newer version of the RTE using App Builder. Is this correct?
I have been away from LabVIEW for several years and am a bit rusty on these details that I once knew. Any help is appreciated.

The version of the run-time engine must match the version of LabVIEW that was used to create the executable. You can get any version of the run-time engine you want here. The only way to create a version 6.1 exe is to re-build it from the source code with diagrams. An exe has no block diagram so it cannot be converted to a newer version.

LabView 8 and Mac --- no more reliance on Real-Time engine?

Does Labview 8.0 for Mac now support data acquisition WITHOUT having to export code via the Real Time engine? I've been using Labview 7.0 with E-series DAQ boards on Mac G4s, but have had to boot the mac in OS 9 for proper function of Labview with the DAQ boards. I would LOVE IT if I could now perform data acquition via OS 10.4 with my boards!

You can definitely use NI data acquisition devices with Mac OS X and
not rely on the real time cross-compiler. In January 2005, NI
released NI-DAQmx Base for Mac OS X. It currently supports about
80 plug-in DAQ devices, including M Series and the low-cost USB
devices, and development is similar to using NI-DAQmx.

Also, you may want to check out the new LabVIEW tools for Tiger on
ni.com/mac. NI create a widget for viewing VIs, Automator

RMAN in active data guard with real time apply ON without a catalog DB

I would like to know whether I can take RMAN backups (both level 0 & incremental) in active data guard with real time apply ON without a catalog database. version is 11.2.0.3.2. Will it make difference in the control file of standby syncing with primary? Can I use these backups on primary to restore and recover the database(including control file backup)?

B2MML with real time data

I want some B2mml files with real time data.
So exact( maintenance infromation and Production) B2MML that is coming from MIS.

Hi, Ramshanker.
In the cases where the plant system is directly delivering B2MML documents (such as with certain products from Wonderware, Siemens, and some others), using the data in xMII is quite straightforward.
1) If the B2MML message is not "standard" B2MML (be aware that very few plant vendors use the baseline standard - most have a number of specific extensions), you can add the vendors' schemas or B2MML example documents to xMII by adding them to a ReferenceDocument folder on the server.
2) In xMII BLS, create a transaction (let's assume you called it B2MMLHandler) with one input parameter, of type "XML" (let's assume you called it "B2MMLDocument"). Add a "ReferenceSchema" or "ReferenceDocument" action, and configure it to load the vendor's B2MML format. Use the "assign reference document" menu option to assign this format to the transaction input.
3) You can now use the B2MML document to perform analytics or to map from the B2MML document into any RFC or BAPI calls or ESA service calls from within BLS.
4) The plant system system should "post" the XML data to an xMII transaction using the "Runner" URL as in:
http://<yourserver>/Lighthammer/Runner?Transaction=B2MMLHandler&InputParameter=B2MMLDocument
Of course, if the MES system isn't capable of posting the documents and they are available on the file system, you can use the xMII file actions (or remote file access via FTP) to access and load the B2MML documents, perhaps at a scheduled interval.

[Solved] QJackCtl won't start in with real time.

Hey all,
I'm having a problem with QJackCtl, I got my version from Extra. The problem is that for some reason Jack won't start in real time mode using QJackCtl. Real Time is checked and marked under the set-up tab, but that little piece of info doesn't seem to make it to jackd. If I start Jack through CLI it works with real time, but not from the GUI.
I figured this out by starting JACK from the command line and then starting QJack. When I would do that it would be running in real time just without the rest of my settings (buffer,periods,sampling rate, etc). So in my head there's an issue with QJackCtl. I've tried to find a solution, but I can't seem to find one. This isn't the first time I've set JACK up on a system, but this is the first time I've had this problem.
The rest of the system is set up and ready to go. Rt Kernel, limits.conf and all other tuning is done.
Is there something I missed when setting this piece of software up? Any ideas?

Okay, so right after I posted this I got a crazy idea. When you enter setup in qjackctl on the first page there's a box for server path. The path defaults to "jackd". On that line I added "--realtime", so it looked like a basic CLI start-up of JACK and now it works!
So, if anyone else has this problem go to the Setup tab, in the setup window on the line that says Server Path it should look like this:
jackd --realtime
It worked for me and I hope it helps somebody else out.

Which volume? Assuming you're on the most common usecase (single hw audio device) then whatever command line you use (amixer for example) it'll work fine, it'll control the volume of the device rather than the pulseaudio plugin (so other playing apps get affected as well, which is probably what you want). The 'global' volume so to speak.
For multiple hw audio devices it gets tricky though.

I must create a program only with Labwindows/CVI with an USB CAN 8473s that could display a XY graph with the information that my canbox will read. But I don't know if it's feasible because of the incompatibility within Frame API functions and Channel API functions? Is there a possibility to do that program with Labwindows with NI functions or others functions?

Apple TV streams content and is not a replacement for cable or satellite. You can stream real time tv if it is on the Internet through airplay mirror, but you need a Mac Book Pro early 2011 or later and OS X 8 ML and yours looks to be 2010. There is an app called airparrot that can do the job, but it mirrors your computer screen so unless you get it on there it does not to real time tv.
Another app, filmon, does have some live tv from several countries and can airplay from an ipad or ipod touch to apple TV. It is a free app and free for standard definition but a subscription for the HD.

The term "+real-time+" has a very specific meaning in Information Technology. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_computing for the basic details.
Oracle RAC is not a real-time database.. and nor does the "real-time knowledge" make much sense IMO...
Always difficult to get to grips with the nuances of the English language where it is your 2nd or even 3rd language. But it is important that we speak the same language and understand the same terms and concepts, in Information Technology.

NI USB CAN 8473 write single frame and log all frame of network with read notification on the same port

I am trying to code an application which:
- Write sometime (button click) a frame on a CAN network
- Log all frame of CAN NETWORK
My hardware is NI USB 8473 (1 port).
1/ After reading NI help about CAN APIs, I think it is not possible to do "log all CAN frame" with Channel API because I need to install a asynchronous callback to read all message, and this functionality is only present in frame API.
Anyone can confirm?

I have tried "CAN Receive with Notification" example delivered with NI-CAN driver, configured on virtual CAN256.
I start other sample program to generate some frame on virtual CAN257, no problem, everything is working.
So, i have tried to modify "CAN Receive with Notification" to add write function. I have mixed this source with "Transmit Receive same Port" sample (which works fine alone on CAN256).
My program is running, but nothing appens when I click on WRITE button.
I suppose some attribute are not confired, but which one.
Anyone can help? (source of my modified sample is joined to this post).

I'm a little puzzled by your question.
If I understood well, you just want to receive every frame reaching the port and sometime write something through the port. Am I correct ?
You are right when you state that the NI USB 8473 can only work with frame API. However, if the operation you want to make is the one I discribed above, I can't see where you encounter a difficulty.
Indeed, for such a case, the example you mentionned in your post is perfectly suited. "Transmit Receive same Port" allows you to receive the frames reaching the port and write we needed too.
I think this example shoudl do the trick.
Or have you a more specific application in mind ?

Error 53 PID Autotune with Real-time fieldpoint control

Hi!
I cannot perform the autotuning PID parameters in fieldpoint cFP-2000 (Real-time control).
It gives me the error 53 as you see in the attachment file. It seems to be because of the autotune wizard vi...???
How can i solve this problem?

Hello,
LabVIEW RT does not currently support the autotuning feature, because the procedure invokes a wizard that requires user interaction. LabVIEW RT does not support this type of user interface. This wizard is tightly integrated with the PID function itself and would require significant redesign to work in LabVIEW RT.
It is the autotuning VI itself that is not compatible with LabVIEW RT. You can use the "PID Autotuning.vi" as long as you are not targeted to your RT engine. Run your VI in development mode with the "PID Autotuning.vi" in your code. After you receive your tuned gain settings, replace the autotuning vi with the normal "PID.vi" and use your tuned gains for the inputs. You can now target to your RT engine with tuned gains.
