Nikon D800 thetering with LR 4.x?

will LR4.1 support thetering with Nikon D800 - or when will ist be able?

Same here. If you save as "Lossless Compressed" from Capture NX, Adobe software (LR 4.3, DNG Converter, and Photoshop CS5 for me) shows the corrupt preview you described or says "There was an error working with the photo." Regular compressed is fine; Lossless is the problem.
Unfortunately, CNX bakes in the lossless compressed format, and you cannot re-save in another format (uncompressed, or just plain compressed). See screenshot. Do you have backups? Alternatively, save a TIFF.
Every other raw converter I can find (on Mac) reads these files just fine, so I think it's an Adobe issue rather than an actually corrupt file.

  • Unable to open Raw files from Nikon D800 in Photoshop CC [was:raw updates with creative cloud?]

i have a d800, bridge or photoshop do not seem to support the raw files, i am using CC and bridge will not bring up the thumbnails and photoshop will not open the files at all, can anyone help?

[Moved from Cloud forum to Camera Raw forum]
    ACR = Adobe Camera Raw.
ACR is the plugin used by Photoshop to read and process Raw files from cameras. It must be updated every time a new camera comes on to the market.
The Nikon D800 has been fully supported since ACR7.1
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
ACR7.1 is compatible with Photoshop CS6 and later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
So, if you are in fact using Photoshop CC, there should be no reason that Raw files cannot be opened.
    In Photoshop, click:
Windows: Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
Mac: Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
    Which version number is shown?
Are you using Nikon transfer software to get the Raw files from your camera to your computer?

  • Nikon D800 raw files taken with Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card got corrupted. Able to preview them in Lightroom4.4 Library, but not able to import or transfer the files from card to computer. Any ideas on how to save images from Library Window in Lig

Hi, I have shot few pictures on 31st December night in RAW mode using Nikon D800 and Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card. It looks like card got some memory errors so not able to transfer the files from Card to computer. However I am able to view the pics thru Lightroom ver 4.4 Library, but when I tried to import them, it gives me an error stating that file can't be read.
Is there a way to save the pics from Library window in lightroom overcoming the card read errors ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi SSPRENGEL,
Thank you for your response. Here is the error message I am receiving, I tried with various destination folders in the computer but it still gives the same error:. Just to let you know, I am able to import pictures into these folders from other memory cards.
I am able to finally at least extract the jpgs using the option suggested by elie-d

  • I have iphoto '08 version with an imac osx 10.5.8. It will not read my RAW files  from my Nikon D800 - a very new model. How can I get it to read my RAW files?

my somewhat old imac osx 10.5.8 with iphoto '08 will not read my RAW files from my new Nikon D800 camera - a new model on the market( 5 months or so). How can I get iphoto to read my RAW  files?

iPhoto 08 would not read RAW files from that new a camera. You need to upgrade so you can get more up-to-date version of OS X and iPhoto. Another possiblity is see if iPhoto 11 will run on 10.5.8, if so you should update. You can also attempt to run Software Update and see if it finds a newer release of iPhoto 08 that supports newer RAW formats.

  • Lightroom 4 tethering unusable with Nikon D800

I am on LR 4.4 using Nikon D800E.
I had been using LR tethered with some intermittent locking issues since LR 3 with my Nikon D300.
About 4 months ago, I purchased a Nikon D800E and started to use it tethered (as I had done with the D300) with LR 4.
It would lock up consistently and I would have to reboot the computer to regain functionality. This would happen so many times during a shoot, that tethering just became unusable.
After much testing, It turns out that the problem occurs when the camera's buffer reaches zero. LR consistently is unable to recover from this zero condition. Periodically it will allow one more shot after a bit (as if it tried to recover), but the shot in LR has an esclamation mark by it as damaged data. And at that point it will never recover without a complete computer reboot.
I'm shooting with a team in studio - I can't have LR be this flakey - It is not acceptable to not be able to reach a zero buffer condition while shooting (I'm using Profoto and it can recycle faster than the camera can send to LR). It is not usable in its current state tethered with a Nikon D800. Just not usable.
I had to switch to using Nikon's Camera Control 2 (which functions perfectly and never has trouble recovering from a zero buffer condition), until Adobe can fix this significant bug.
Come on Adobe - Fix your software so it functions.
P.S. I also noticed that conveniently Adobe removed the functionality of their report a bug link.

After exhaustive testing (including trialing Phase One's Capture One Pro 7), it appears to be a bug in Adobe's SDK used in both LR4 and Capture One Pro 7.
    Here is the results:
Well this has been over a month of testing.
The problem is that the D800(E) can't recover from a zero buffer condition when shooting tethered with LightRoom 4 or Phase One's Capture One Pro 7.
It recovers just fine when using Nikon's own Camera Control Pro 2.
This started when I moved from the Nikon d300 which I had been shooting tethered with LR4 just fine, to the D800E. If I shot faster than the buffer and got the buffer down to zero, the next shot would produce a digitally corrupted image and then stop functioning. The buffer would not free up. It would take a reboot of the software to get it working again. Sometimes just turning the camera off and on would get things working again.
I was sure it was Lightroom, as I had tethering instability with earlier versions of LR. So I switched to using Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2 to tether and the problem went away. So I was sure it was LR. I also posted within the LR forums and another user experienced the exact same issue.
Today, I installed Phase One's Capture One Pro 7 software ( lists the D800E as supported for tethering - confirmed with a phone call to Phase One ).
Exact same issue. Exactly the same.
So, tomorrow I'm contacting Nikon because I'm thinking it has to be their SDK that they're providing to both Adobe and Phase One.
Oh and I also upgraded to the just released Nikon D800 firmware - no change.
If it's their SDK it means there's little chance of a solution in the near future, because first waiting for them to fix it and then waiting for the vendors to upgrade to the newest SDK release.
So apparently the ONLY way to tether with the D800 is Nikon's own tethering software, which although the tethering is reliable and fast, the viewing, etc is tedious at best.

I select the images I want uploaded, NEF files, click the "IMPORT" button, process bar comes up and shows work in progress, but no progress. after about 2 minutes, dialogue box appears with message: "unable to import because the following files are unreadable: NEFxxxx, etc."

Why not use Lightroom 4 instead?
I mean, assuming you can get it running fast enough, you'll usually get better results with PV2012 - right? And in the cases where you prefer PV2010 (if there are any), it's there too...

  • With new version of Lightroom 5, I cannot import files from Nikon D800

    Hello-
I am having a ton of problems with Lightroom ever since I downloaded the latest version of Lightroom 5. Anyone else? I cannot open my catalog which I keep on an external drive but even more troubling, my files from my Nikon D800 and D700 will not import. Any ideas? I didn't have these problems before I "upgraded". Thank you.

"Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported bc they could not be read. (1)"
This is after just trying to import one but I get the same message when I try to import more than one. Thanks for any ideas.

  • Why won't my Adopbe Photoshop Elements 9 recognize RAW photos taken with a Nikon D800?

I've just taken 35 photos with a brand new Nikon D800.  Some were taken in FX format and others in DX format but all are RAW.  I moved them to a file on an exterior drive and then tried to place them into Elements 9, just as I have been doing since I started using Elements 9.  All other photos in Elements 9 are from a Nikon D5000 and D7000.  The message Elements is giving me is that the files are broken.  Is this camera too new for Elements 9 and do I have to upgrade?  I don't have the cash to upgrade to CS4, 5 or 6 and I'm not interested in Elements 10 right now.  If an upgrade is required I just may start using Nikon ViewNX 2 that came with the camera.  Any and all suggestions/answers/ideas are greatly appreciated!

The D800 is a recent camera.
You would need to use PSE10 to have the correct ACR version.
With PSE9, either you can use your Nikon software to convert to an image file like Tiff or jpeg.
Or you could use the free Adobe dngconverter software to batch convert your NEF files to the Adobe DNG raw format, which PSE9 can read.

Would like to purchase PSE 12 to process Camera Raw files for the following cameras: Nikon D800, Nikon DF, Canon G9 and Pentax K-3 does the Raw Converter that comes with  PSE 12 when purchased recognize  the cameras listed in the question or do I need to download  the camera Raw Version 8.3 ?

While the G9 RAW files can be read by Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom, these file are unsupported at this time. Here is a link to Adobe's latest list of cameras that are supported and this list came out yesterday http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
I have not done a comparison between Lightroom and Canon's software but others have and say that Canon's software is clearly better. I am sure when Adobe updates their software again to include the G9 it will be a very good RAW converter as it is will most other cameras.

  • Nikon D800 Definitely NOT Supported in ACR RC 6.7 or in Photoshop CS6 beta with ACR 7

It's been my experience that I am unable to view RAW images shot by my new Nikon D800 with ACR 6.7 installed, or with Photoshop CS 6 beta which includes an ACR 7 plug-in. This is true whether I'm shooting in Live View or not.
Anyone else having difficulty with RAW images shot by the Nikon D800?

I use Nikon Transfer in conjunction with a card reader to transfer these files to my desktop, either Windows 7 Ultimate or Mac Lion, latest version.
These NEF files are seen in Windows Explorer as thumbnail images, but do not open up in Photoshop or Bridge or Camera Raw. If I right-click on the Explorer thumbnail and request it to open with Photoshop 5.1, it produces the error messaqge: "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw."
My Camera Raw version in "Help" "About Plug-ins" is 6.7.0.319
As I've said, the only time I've been able to open my NEF files in Camera Raw and Photoshop was when I used Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2(This software allows me to shoot my camera from software on a computer), in which, as the shots are exposed, they are automatically transferred to my laptop where Camera Control resides. That laptop runs Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit. The two desktops run 64-bit versions of Windows and Mac Lion, respectively.
To add to the confusion, I downloaded a trial version of PhaseOne's CaptureOne which is described as updated to handle D800 NEFs, but no go for me.
I just tried a shot with my Win 7 Desktop, which also has Camera Control Pro 2 on it, the files are automatically downloaded to my Users/My Pictures folder, and the NEF opens up in Camera Raw, and then in Photoshop when I request it. This works whether I shoot in "live View" or not.
    Any thoughts?

  • TA27468 Problem importing pictures with a Nikon D800 into a MacbookPro Retina

I have this problem with a Nikon D800 when importing into a MacbookPro Retina ... I have enough free space, I can always import a batch of files from 10-100 (varying randomly), then get this "unreadable file" error message. Very frustrating.

What version of iPhoto? Importing Raws? Jpegs?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • My camera Nikon D800 don't work with Mac Book Pro retina... Why ?

Somebody Know why my digital reflex Nikon d800 don't work with Mac Book Pro retina ?

I shoot tethered which requires that the D800 be recognized by the laptop.
However, I just figured it out. Nikon changed their USB protocol so that the D800 doesn't show up as a mass storage device.  That said, the d800 IS recognized by image capture and be computer in general, just not like previous Nikon dSLRs.  If you're tethering via Lightroom make sure the Nikon tethering plugin is enabled (which it may not be if you previously shot tethered with Canon).
