  • Thanks bschauwe, but more questions on your post...

    You said in a helpful reply to my post:
    public class TestDataObject {
    public void setX(int val) {
    this.x = val;
    public int getX() {
    return this.x;
    }Your native methods take one of these objects as a parameter, or return one of these objects.
    public class Test {
    public native void setTestData(TestDataObject obj);
    public native TestDataObject getTestData();
    }The TestDataObject constructor, getter, and setter methods can all be invoked with JNI (C)
    code. In other words, to return the test data, you
    o use JNI to call the TestDataObject constructor.
    o Use JNI to call the setters to fill in the data.
    o Return the reference to the TestDataObject.
    I was curious bout the use JNI to call the TestDataObject constructor. Im not sure what u meant, I know there was a JNI call that could be done from C that was titled: Invoking a Java Method. IS that what you meant? like Native access to an objects own methods?
    If so I can check that chapter out in the book, if not then im still lost (as most this new JNI stuff is all greek to me)
    This is what i was starting to write before I realized I might be wrong in interpreting what you said:
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_AbfaRegion_setJSource
      (JNIEnv *env, jobject thisObj, jobject actualObj)
         jclass clazz = env->GetObjectClass(actualObj);
         jfieldID fid= env->GetFieldID(clazz, "height", "I");
         env->SetIntField(actualObj, fid, myValFromStruct);
    }Here i was explciting trying to set private members of the JSource class, thats not what u meant really is it?
    Thanks for any help again,
    Shane

    Let's assume you create a java class called TestDataObject. You define a constructor, a couple of getters, and a couple of setters.
    Using TestDataObject content in a JNI routine: You pass a TestDataObject to your native routine as a parameter. In the C code, you use JNI functions to invoke the (java) methods on the java object, getting back data types like jint, jlong, jstring, ....
    Using TestDataObject to pass back results from a JNI routine: In the C code, you use JNI functions to invoke the (java) methods of a TestDataObject. But wait! First you use JNI functions to create a new TestDataObject! In other words, JNI helps you invoke the constructor method.
    A C function can invoke java methods using JNI calls in roughly the following sequence:
    o Call a JNI function to get a reference to the class - a kind of "type" record. FindClass or GetObjectClass.
    o Call a JNI function to get the ID of the method you want to invoke: GetMethodID (class is a parameter)
    o Call a JNI function to invoke the method. CallxxxMethod (class and method ID are parameters to this function. If you are not calling a constructor or a static method, then instead of the class, pass an object pointer.)
    Finally: You can do what your code shows - shove data right into private data members of java classes. I choose instead to invoke getters and setters.

I don't think it's really necessary to force everyone to quote post. I don't know if that is actually feasible to code in, but it's an idea.Only going on anecdotal data here, but my observation has been that more often people do not quote (for whatever reason, but mostly I think it is that quoting is a bit unintuitive) when they should than the reverse.Most forum systems have a reply button and a quote button. • How To Add A Signature To Your Posts

    A signature is a great way to personalize your posts. You can add a brief details about your products or just a personal tagline to distinguish your posts.
    Creating or editing your signature is very easy. This is how you do it:
    1. Log into the Forum.
    2. Now, at the right pane, below your user name, click on My Account.
    3. You will land on the Personal Profile tab, under Personal Information.
    5. Scroll down to the text box named Signature.
    6. Now, enter your preferred text in the signature.
    Your signature should be brief and should not contain any inappropriate content. For example, you can put any simple text as the signature.
    Or, you can use a HTML code to color or design your signature accordingly. You can even add small pictures using HTML code.
    7. Once done, scroll down and click on the  button.
    Now, all your new and existing posts will have the signature at the bottom. If you want to make more changes, perform the same steps again.
    Happy posting!

  • HTML Editor and reply to discussion post

    Hello,
    I am using Discussion Group provided by KM. In a discussion, when I reply to a post, the HTML Editor is opened. In the HTML Editor, not all the functions are available. The Editing functions (display, cut, copy, paste) and some of the Formatting functions are displayed. Other functions such as Inserting Objects (Insert image from KM, Insert link from KM, ...) are NOT available.
    Is it possible to make these "missing" functions available ?
    Thank you.

    Hello Amit,
    Thank you for your reply.
    The HTML Editor is set correctly. I checked with the KM explorer. When I used the menu New - HTML File..., the HTML Editor is opened with all the functions (including the Inserting Objects and Tables functions) .
    Is there any other configuration that I need to check?
    Regards.

  • Can't find "Quote Original" button for Reply to a Post

    When I went to reply to a post I wanted to use the same quoting format that I saw others had used. So I went to "Help & Terms of Use" to learn how to do this. The info given is: "If you want to quote specific text from the original message, click Quote Original to add all the text from the original message to the Message box." I could see no such button. So I replied without using the desired format and at the same time asked the person I was replying to about this. That person's reply back was: There's a '"' icon in the compose window when you type a reply. If I'm doing a lot of quotes (as I did here) I use that, then edit out the bits I don't want. Otherwise I copy and paste the text and add a > before the line to get it to appear in the special format.
    I'm still mystified! I see no such button, icon or anything about "Quote Original" in the "Reply", "Compose" window. I also tried adding a > before the line, but nothing happened.
    I was originally attempting this using the Firefox browser. To make sure the problem was not a Firefox glitch, I switched to Safari, with the same result.
    How is "Quote Original" done? Where is that button?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks, Limnos (again!!). I wonder why the Help info doesn't just say what you now did. .... Click on the " in the formatting panel just above the compose window (rather than click on "Quote Original").
    I do though feel a little stupid for not having clicked on everything that could possibly be clicked on. I'm now wondering what I was thinking those " marks could possibly be for since I do have the " key on my keyboard if I want to quote a phrase that I'm typing. I just was thinking that all those formatting items are for the typing of my reply and I didn't hold my cursor over each for the info box to appear. Oh well, thankfully, all my present posts are now solved. Thanks to you again Limnos.

  • You have included content in your post that is not permitted.

    I posted a question in the discussion and replied the response "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." I re-read my post. There was no swear word, no questions about doing anything illegal or violation any TOS, and no link that could cause a problem. So I started editing my post and I found the guilty word: "Streaming" and "Live" together (let's see if it goes through in this post).
    My suggestion is, instead of giving a broad statement, to actually list the words that are not permitted. This will save us time trying to figure out what offended the automated censor.

    Yep. That's the way of the world.
    I still think the filters could be more friendly. Taking, for example, the user's posting history into account.
    I would agree, but Jive, the software that these forums run on, may not allow that sort of flexibility. Or Apple Legal may not allow that sort of flexibility.

  • Why do I get: "An error occurred while trying to submit your post. Please try again."

    Hi, I get this error: "An error occurred while trying to submit your post. Please try again." when trying to reply to a post. Just started today. How can I resolve this?

    There are certain words and phrases which are banned because of spammers: if you inadvertently include one of these you usually get the message that you have included content which is not allowed.
    I've had the 'an error occurred' message several times; in each case I've copied the post, clicked the 'Cancel' button, waited a few seconds than then replied again, pasting in the text, and it's worked. It appears to be juste a server glitch.
