No any response with clicking address bar, not to a specific url.

- "enter key" is okay
- i set google.cn as homepage of firefox
- it really worked days ago
- already tried to restart computer as well as firefox browser
- IE browser works as expected
- tried searching the issue via internet, some Q&A are talking the same, but none of them has certain workaround
- although i detected webpage directly from browser 'History', issue persists, none of them could be opened
- my firefox ver is 10.0 almost the latest one.

I figured it out: Changing the default page in the "PUBLIC" user profile.

  • Open Browser with No Address Bar from Java

    How to open a IE Browser from Java with no address bar, tool bar etc ?
    I am able to open browser like the listed code, but the requirement for me is it has to open with no "Address Bar", buttons.
    I know we can do that in "Javascript" but how to or is there a way to do that in java/swing.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    String WIN_FLAG = "url.dll,FileProtocolHandler";
    String WIN_PATH = "rundll32";
    String url = "www.google.com"
    String cmd = WIN_PATH + " " + WIN_FLAG + " " + url;
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec( cmd );

    Use javascript for this. I would do it this way....
    You can decide with JS if you want tot hide so elements from your browser. Should not be very difficult to implement

  • How can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???

    how can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???
    they are on top, which puts the address bar at a variable position depending on how many tab rows exist - makes a moving target for navigating to across my dual 24 inch screens
    I tried your "solution" using about:config and setting browser.tab.on.top or whatever to false, but that had NO effect
    Maybe because TabMixPlus is installed?
    It does allow putting the tabs all the way at the bottom, but I don't like that either.
    PLEASE, give me the address bar at TOP with tabs under that!!!
    Also, I don't want FlashGot to be at the right of the address bar!!!

    why should we use yet another add on to get the tabs back at the bottom? Big mistake.
    Moreover, why make FF look more like Chrome? If I wanted Chrome, i would have installed it long time ago.
    FF 29.0 is NOT an improvement.
    Nasty piece of mud.

  • Opening a Browser Window with no Address Bar

    Hello All,
    I am working on an application which needs to open a new browser window. I need to hide the URL from the user.
    Right now, I can open the window with no toolbar or address bar with the following command:
    String cmd = "cmd.exe /c start javascript:window.open('http://www.google.ca','main','menubar=0,location=0,toolbar=0,personalbar=0,status=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=yes')";
    However, this first opens up a blank window and then the window with no address bar. If I make the command:
    String cmd = "cmd.exe /c start javascript:window.open('http://www.google.ca','main','menubar=0,location=0,toolbar=0,personalbar=0,status=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=yes';window.close();)";
    then the user is asked if they wish to close the first blank window.
    Does anyone know how to open a new browser window via the command line without the annoying extra window?

    It works with the following command but the new browser window isn't in "focus".
    cmd.exe /c start javascript:window.open('http://www.google.ca','main','menubar=0,location=0,toolbar=0,personalbar=0,status=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=yes');window.opener=top;window.close();

  • Resetting / Removing Old URLs From Address Bar When Manually Typing In URLs

    How do you Reset / Remove Old URLs From Address Bar When Manually Typing In URLs. You know, when you start to tpye in www. and about 2000 URLs visted in your life, and past life, appear in a list. It's annoying as all heck, and since it's in alphabetical order it's always throwing in the first one in the list... 1800flowers in my case. Isn't there a way to reset this or something? Or better, to turn it off? I've already tried emptying cache and clearing history. I also removed the .plist files as well. What would happen if I did a reinstall of Safari?

    Hello Jonny Apple Seed
    The way to clear the address bar is to reset Safari, under Safari menu,
    this will also clear,
    "Resetting Safari clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries.
    In addition, any open windows are closed and a new window opens. The new window has a new history for the Back and Forward buttons and the SnapBack buttons". From Safari Help
    A reinstalled Safari will just come to be the same, after a while. Not worth it in my opinion. The address bar will not be completely empty.
    Hth some.

    In my MacBook Pro(10.7.5), finder is crashing after logging in. Even in safari address bar, TextEdit not accepting any text means when type something not showing up and also i am unable operate any thing from keyboard. Plz help me…..

    One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
    Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

  • Has anyone had any issue with opening a new tab and the address bar not connecting to websites in 33.1.1?

    I think ever since we moved to v33, I've been having an irritating issue that whenever I open a new tab that isn't connected to a website yet and try to enter a website address, it won't connect to ANY website. Doesn't matter if I hit Enter to try to make it go, doesn't matter if I click the right-pointing arrow button to make it go, doesn't work. I can go into a tab already connected to a website, type in a new website there and it'll create a new tab and take me to the new website, but not if I use new tab button.
    Anyone else had this issue? Any fixes?

    Sorry, that didn't help as I'm able to connect to websites, just not in a particular way.
    For instance, I am able to type in and connect to websites IF the tab is already in use with a website (i.e. if I were to type "yahoo.com" in the address bar of this tab FF would open a new tab and take me to yahoo.com) but not when it is a completely new tab.

  • [SOLVED] FF 4.0 beta 11 total failure : blank page, no bookmark, address bar not responding, etc.

    I had no problem with 4.0 betas, up to 10.
    Update to 4.0/11 this morning, and suddenly nothing is working
    - blank page
    - all bookmarks lost (from Bookmarks menu)
    - impossible to connect to any url: actually, nothing happens after entering an address, address bar non responsive.
    - two (Windows) title bars, each one coming with its working system menu.
    I see two title bar (the blue bar with min/max/close buttons at the right)
    The top one is a regular one, with "Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 11" displayed at the left
    The second one hold a new Firefox yellow button at the left, with a down arrow opening a all-in-one menu.
    Under this second title bar, a menu bar holds the regular menu items (File/Edit/View/History/Bookmarks/Tools/Help)
    This Bookmarks menu is void of bookmarks. But they are not lost, they are in the Firefox/Bookmarks menu.
    The address bar is not responsive.
    Nothing works, basically.
    Until one page finally loads !
    The Firefox Help page, for example, always seems to load. Bookmarked pages can also be loaded from the Firefox/Bookmarks menu (but only with right click/open in new tab; direct click doesn's work)...
    Anyhow, after a first successful load, things get better : address bar becomes responsive again, bookmarks now fill the regular Bookmarks menu, etc.
    The thing that still doesn't work : clicking the back button on the address bar, or typing alt-left, or right-click/back, or History/Back (grayed)... no way whatsoever to play history(-1).

    Fixed with Firebug 1.7x.0a11 !

  • ATTENTION MOZILLA DEVELOPERS!!!! I have had numerous issues all occuring within 24-48 hours,The latest is location/address bar not working completely! Who has solutions and fixes that actually work???

    Windows 7 32bit Firefox 3.6.1.1 .... I really liked Firefox until recently!!!!
    I'm not even going to explain all the problems I have had in the last 2 days, but i will tell you i have read so many forums and have done A LOT of fixing, 8 hours worth!! So before someone suggests for me to try a common fix I have done almost all things like. <br />
    Disable extensions<br />
    Disabled/Remove add ons<br />
    Tried all in safe mode<br />
    Deleted files in Firefox Profile<br />
    Renamed files in Firefox Profile<br />
    I have done almost everything except remove Firefox and use a different browser. <br />
    What gets me most is this site (Mozilla support) is the least helpful!! i have found solutions that worked off of Non Mozilla forums!!<br />
    Ok here goes...... <br /> 1. Auto complete works in location/address bar, when I click ENTER on keyboard or click the blue arrow in address bar NOTHING HAPPENS!!! I can go to bookmarks click on one and it will go right to the page! It's like the address bar is dead! <br />2. I have NO search engines in the search bar located right next to address bar, the only solution I found for that called for typing commands in the address bar, which i can do but it wont do anything!!!<br />
    Please keep in mind I did a full Google search on these problems and have found that a lot of people have the same issues regardless of Firefox versions or Operating systems!! <br />
    This is my last attempt to get accurate and proven solutions/fixes to these problems before I wash my hands of Mozilla, I'm sure someone will tell me to just do it!!!<br />
    I am hoping to get knowledgeable responses to this post!!
    THANKS,
    Robert
    I just found out this: Posted November 3, 2010 8:12:18 PM PDT:
    When I go to Firefox profiles folder i have 3 different profiles all with default at the end!!! Which one do i rename and wgich do I delete? See issues just keep getting stickier a more complicated!!!
    Thanks,
    Robert

    You can locate the current [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] this way:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Open Containing folder
    If the 11.01 & 11.02 are empty backups then make sure that create a backup of the other .json backups elsewhere as soon as possible to avoid losing backups that may still work.
    The other profiles appear to have older bookmarks. You can check the file compatibility.ini in a profile to see which version of Firefox last used that profile.
    A possibility is to create a fourth profile to test each of the JSON backups and check which bookmarks they store. If you open that profile with the -no-remote switch then you can copy and paste bookmarks from one profile (instance) to another profile. Both profiles need to be open at the same time to do that.

  • Search and Address bar not working.

    Hello, I have this problem were whenever I try to type in something into the search or addresys bars, nothing happens. It's like the enter key isn't working. There is not usual picture next to the search bar (the one that shows you what search engine you're using. If it's google it shows a "g" next to the bar). Instead there is just a picture of a blank page as a placeholder. When I try to go in and add a new search engine by managing the search engine list, there is no option to add a new search engine. I have already tried going into the firefox folder on my computer and deleted the formhistory.sqlite file that is the supposed problem. No avail. I have even gone so far to delete and reinstall firefox to my computer. Well, that didn't work either. So I waited until the next update to see if my problem would be fixed THEN. I am currently on firefox 19.0, which is, as of writing, the most current version. I have tried restarting firefox with all addons removed. And for good measure, I deleted anything that ended with ".sqlite" in my firefox folder. I have tried to get the the about:config menu but do not know how considering how my address bar refuses to search. The greatest thing is that my address bar can still remember all the sites I've typed into it before, but for some unknown reason, cannot take me to any of them! I really don't know what to do next. I can only suppose that I could try completely deleting everything firefox has stored on my computer, as I don't know if just uninstalling the program actually did that. Other then my search bar problem, firefox has been acting fairly normally besides a few minor hiccups here and there. I am trying to remember if I downloaded anything before my search bar problems started or not, but it is always a possibility. I did download the firefox beta for windows 8 metro mode but I can't remember if that was before or after firefox started acting up. It's possible considering that softonic thought they were being really nice by including fbdownloader for free with my firefox metro browser. I am now no longer using softonic ever again. But that's all the evidence I can think up right off the tip of my head. Sorry if this was kinda long, and if any of my description isn't clear or make sense please ask and I can try to verify. Also, if I haven't said this already, my search bar is only not working in firefox. Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari are all working fine. Just my luck, I guess. If anyone could help me out, I'd be much obliged. Not being able to use the address bar has been really inefficient. Thank you.

    This is the solution I got:
    on:
    ;-please follow these steps:
    1. Enter about:config in the Firefox location bar and press Enter.
    You should see a warning that making changes to the Firefox configuration can be potentially harmful to Firefox's integrity. Click the I'll be careful, I promise button to continue.
    2 In the Search box at the top, enter keyword as the search term. You should see a few remaining items, one of these is keyword.URL. It should be bold.
    3 Right-click on the keyword.URL setting and select MODIFY from the dropdown menu.
    enter your favorite search engine
    In my case
    I entered
    https://www.google.com/search?q=
    And that was a super fix
    for more cool stuffs like [http://example.com website Alexa ranking ]

  • Firefox opens up with no address bar,bookmarks,etc. It also starts up as a white screen slowly turning black.

    As my title suggests every time I open up my firefox the address bar and all doesn't appear on the top along with it starts off white followed by a small black square until the entire area of the browser is blackened.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-to-use-full-screen
    If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br>Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.
    You can use one of these to set which toolbars to show.
    *Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
    *View > Toolbars (press F10 to show the Menu bar)
    *Right-click empty toolbar area

  • If you view Firefox in full screen can you get favourite toolbar to appear with the address bar?

    When you put Firefox in full screen all the toolbars disappear. When you hover over the top of the screen the address bar and 'open tabs' bar appear. Is it possible to get the favourites toolbar to appear as well?
    If not is there any other way to access favourites without having to close Firefox?

    You can also toggle that setting if you hover the mouse to the top and right click a toolbar to open the toolbar context menu: Hide Toolbars.
    That won't show the bookmarks toolbar AFAIK even if it is selected. You can access the bookmarks via the Bookmarks menu button if you place that button on a visible Navigation Toolbar or Tab bar.
    Add code to userChrome.css below the @namespace line to make the Bookmarks toolbar visible in full screen mode.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/userChrome.css
    <pre><nowiki>@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
