No connection left in WebLogic database pool

Hi,
We have a J2EE business web application that runs in WebLogic. We noticed in application log files errors messages that seems like  "No resource available in db pool", it means all the connection objects (to Oracle database) are used. Then the application is unstable and unseable.
I think the maximum number of  connections configured in Weblogic pool has been reached due to an increase of users and activity. But when the workload decreases the application is still out of service. It seems connections objects are not relased to the pool. What can be the explanation for this issue ? Normally it is managed by the container (EJB3 for the business tier).
Once the limit of the pool is reached it is necessary to restart the server to solve this kind of error ?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
First:
I guess you should check with your DBA about how many allowed concurrent session of the data base connection for your user. After this, check your data source file configuration according it.
Second:
I guess you should check if your application open another session connection with data base.
e.g.
- Another file configuration opens connection without to watch and lookup your configuration in data source file;
- Another code opens JDBC directly without to watch and lookup your configuration in data source file.

  • Harry Potter and the lost Weblogic-database connection

    Hi All,
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but here goes...
I'm working with Weblogic, connecting to an Oracle database on a rather unstable network. From time to time, the connection to the database is lost, and at the moment, this means having to restart weblogic.
Is there any way to configure weblogic to automatically reconnect to a database if the connection is lost and then restoired?
Thanks in advance for your help.

you should have a connection pool setup in weblogic and if the connection is bad, you return gracefully from that method/class, then when you try again you'll acquire a fresh connection
but you absolutely SHOULD NOT have to restart the server for this
even if the db server goes down and gets rebooted you shouldn't have to restart weblogic

  • Monitor database connections in a database pool

    Hi,
Do you know how I can monitor database connections in a database pool.. ? I am using Jboss container.
The purpose is to monitor connections that are closed and refresh them.
    Thanks,

There a firewall.. across which my application makes connections to the database.. the firewall times out due to the inactivity. and my application dies.
I was thinking may be I could check for the database connections in a pool and then one that is not being used for a long time .. close it and again refresh the connection.

  • Connection Pool using weblogic.jdbc.pool.Driver

I am trying to use connection pooling in my JSP data access classes (which

  • Installing JDBC driver to connect to Oracle 8i Database from Weblogic 10.3

I want to connect to Oracle 8i database from weblogic 10.3 application server. I found a classes12. zip file on Oracle.com to use as driver for the same.
I am also connecting Oracle 9i database from the app server. Now if i replace the classes12. jar from the lib folder won't it disallow me to connect to the Oracle 9i database.
2ndly the claases12.zip file i found from the site is for jdk 1.2 will it create any problems. Please let me know
Kindly let me know what is the standard procedure to install a new driver in Weblogic 10.3.

I tried to install weblogic 10.3 using jdk 1.5.07 but. it is not supported. Moreover from the sites also i found that it's only the application wars and ears compiled in jdk 1.5 need not be recompiled in 1.6. But no reference of jdk 1.5 is there.
I tried to use thin client from the code and connect to Oracle 7i
    i got the following exception.

  • Connection to Oracle 10g database failing

Not sure if I should post this here or on another newsgroup, but I am having a problem trying to connect, using WebLogic Server 9.2, to an Oracle 10g database (10.2.0.2), that has been upgraded from Oracle 9i.
I can connect to the same database using WebLogic 7.0.2, and I can also connect using WebLogic Server 9.2 to an Oracle 9i database.
I keep getting the 'Authentication denied: Boot identity is not valid' error, but I know that the username/password I am using in the boot.properties file is valid, because I have connected to the same database using WebLogic Server 7.0.2.
I suspect that the error could be with the drivers I am using, but I have checked and I have the latest oracle jar file in the WL_HOME/server/lib directory.
I did previously have a version of WebLogic 7.0.2 on the machine but this was deleted.
On the database in question the listener logs show that a connection was established, but that's it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database

No data is available because your P6 user name is not valid for connecting to the reporting database
I am getting above error in the following environment:
P6 running on wls instance 1.
BI Publisger running on wls instance 2
    MS SQL server 2005
Note that the error appears when I clink on the 'Reports' tab in P6. My admin user on P6 has access to report/analyser modules.
To connect P6 to BI Publisher I am using 'PxRptUser' in the P6 configuration for Bi Publisher. I know as well that the WSDL URL is correct and I can test this in SoapUI tool.
In BI publisher I have created the PMDB data source using PxRprUser, and the test of this connection works.
(Because the report samples come with Oracle flavoured SQL that SQL server does not like, I have configured BI Publisher so I have just a single report left that sources it data from an xml file. This works in BI Publisher. It also helps me in that I do not need to add 'WHERE' clauses and parameters required for SQL server?)
Furthermore, using a DB tool, I can connect to my SQL server using PxRPTUser.
So why do I get the error above?
I picked up somewhere that I should not be adding users to BI Publisher. Funny enough, testing the 'login' method the BI Publisher exposes through its WSDL (as above) I noticed I HAD to create the user PxRptUser in BI publisher application itself (on top of PxRptUser in database) for the login web service to work with PxRptUser
That did not solve the connection between P6 and BI Publisher though. What am I missing ...

Thought I found something but can't repliacte, som issue is still there:
Had a look at the wls instance logs where BI publisher is running, and the error I get is:
    111111_023646955][][ERROR] javax.naming.NamingException: Unresolved naming: cn=admin, dc=user, dc=users, dc=principals at [cn=admin]
That user, admin, is the one I have used to access P6. Why is this passed on to BI Publisher? I thought the idea was that the PxRptUser set in BI Publisher configurations in P6 would be used?

  • Can Oracle 7i and 8i be connected from Oracle 9i database

I want to know if i can do the following. That means is it possible in production scenario. If yes then how and will it affect the performance to a great extend.
We are now upgrading the application server to weblogic 10.3 . But this server supports only Oracle 9i and above. But we have two more data server which are Oracle 8i and Oracle 7i. These databases will be upgraded later on but not now. So the problem is i can not connect to these Oracle database versions if i use Weblogic 10.3. So i wanted to know if there is any possibility of connecting the application server to a intermideate Oracle 9i database which will act as a bridge from Application server to Oracle 7i and 8i. Can Oracle 9i connect to Oracle 7i and 8i. If yes then how. You can provide me online references if any.
Thanks in advance. Waiting for your reply.

The connection what you are refering is from a normal pc to Oracle 7i or 8i database. But i want to connect from Oracle 9i to Oracle 8iWhen connecting from one db to another (via a db_link) the 'calling' db is just another client to the 'called' db. if you can connect to 7.x (there was no 7i) with a 9.x sqlplus, then you should be able to connect with a 9.x database. At a previous job, we did something similar to get an app compiled against 8.1 to use a 10.2 database - set up a 9.2 intermediary that had nothing but db_links and synonyms pointing on to the 10g.
However, I wouldn't bet the company on making your scenario work. You really should upgrade your databases first.

    Hi,
Refer the following document which describes "Use SAP J2EE Database Pooling Service"
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/webas/stu/use sap j2ee database pooling service
This will help you in adding a new driver, creating a new datasource and accessing the same.

  • Questions about database pooling....

Hi everyone, I'm not new to java programming but I am looking to polish up my skills. I have read sooo many articles and am still confused so please be patient with me. Java has a way of adding new acronyms everytime I turn around - its very hard to keep up with...
I am using Netbeans 5 with Tomcat 5.5.9 bundled.
I am connecting to a postgresql database (version 8.1).
I would like to implement some type of jdbc connection pooling. Everything I have read, even on the tomcat website is confusing and seems to be a "best effort" type of situation - none gauranteeing correctness or reliability or replicability between what others may experience and what I might.
I looked into a pure java solution such as DbConnectionBroker but I get confused as to how this "pooling" is effected by servlet lifecycles. I have read and read and still do not understand the necessary concepts.
If I have a login servlet that makes a single query to the database, how long does that instance of the servlet stay loaded into memory? If it is dropped out of memory right away it seems there is no benefit of using the connectionBroker? (since each time someone visits the login servlet it would have to recreate the login servlet and broker object??)
Is the broker object kept in memory somewhere with connections open after the servlet stops executing? How can other servlets access that same broker object without creating a new one of their own??
I guess it comes down to really not understanding the persistence of how things are loaded and kept in memory. If this is a question for the Tomcat people I do apologize :/ It just seems these forums are by far and away the best place for any type of java help :)

A servlet has nothing to do with it.
A servlet uses a pooled instance. It is the pooled instance, not the servlet which is cached. At least in terms of discussing db connection pools.
A cache means that it remains in memory. If the cache isn't kept in memory then keeping a cache is pointless.
I guess it comes down to really not understanding
the persistence of how things are loaded and kept in memory.More of a basic java question than anything else.
The GC will collect reference which are no longer active sometime after they become not active. Thus a local reference can be collected after the method exits. But a static will not be collected until the class is (not instances of the class, but the class itself.) That won't happen until the class loader that loaded the class is collected.

WilsonFrom what sort of code you you want to connect? Do read our onlinedocumentation
on connection pools. You can tell our pool system what JDBC driver youwant to use,
and the arguments it needs, and then we'll make a pool of connections
    for
    you. You should
start out with the simple JDBC driver examples.
