No email recipient selection when sending an alarm notification in iCal

Hi! I apologize if this question has been previously asked within this forum but a user here in the office is experiencing a particular problem with email alarm notifications in iCal 3.0.8.
This particular user is using version 3.0.8 of iCal and has imported several different calendars from past users in the office. I do know we've had some trouble with different versions of iCal not working together, which might be part of this problem, but here's what we're experiencing:
Although this user has a vast address book, there is only one lone email recipient that pops up under the "email" list when editing an event - it's my particular email address, as I'm in everyone's address book as the IT contact and usually key in my information as the contact whenever I'm installing OS X on a particular machine.
We have tried manipulating entries in all of the previously defined calendar(s) in addition to setting up a brand new calendar file. Regardless, this single email address is the only one that's available for selection.
I have further tried deleting the .plist file associated with iCal and have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application without any luck.
Before I do a clean install of the OS on this machine, does anyone have any advice? Many thanks!

Greetings,
Sounds more like an addressbook issue to me.
What happens in a new user account on the same computer?

  • Email sigs missing when sending from Aperture

I've noticed that when I email a photo from Aperture, it opens a message from my default mail account but removes the signature file and sets the drop-down to "none."
Anyone else notice this problem, and anyone have a work-around. Not a big deal, but a pain to remember to ad that back in each time.
    Dave

Easily resolved, I think. Click on the Customize Icon in a New Message (will be at the bottom left of the headers) and add the Signature pop-up menu to the New Message screen (will then appear at the bottom right of the Headers when chosen. Then when Email is selected in Aperture, the Signature will wink away, but can be put back by selecting in this Pop-up menu.
But the Signature can be a bad idea, as for some recipients it may cause the attachments to appear embedded -- most likely for those recipients using Outlook or Outlook Express. I always click on Format in the menubar of any message composed from Aperture, and choose Make Plain Text before sending for this same issue. This is probably why Aperture's Email function defaults to no signature.

  • IOS 7.0.3 Email missing Text when sending photos by email

    Hello,
I have recognized, that when sending a photo by email since ios 7.0 all text which is typed underneath the photo is not displayed by the revicer in his Email.
    Also my signatures are missing.
When I check my outbox the Text is displayed correctly under the photos.
Before iOS 7, I had never such problems.
Does anyone else have theese problems?
    Thanks for any hints.
    Regards
    Dominik

That doesn't work for me. First off, to reduce confusion, in iOS 7, it's General > Touch ID & Passcode > Reply with Message: On.
I've had this turned on since I got my 5S, but the Reply with Message function only appears for about a fifth of the phone calls I receive. I rarely see it. In each case, I have good cell reception, and it has nothing to do with who's calling, since I sometimes see it and sometimes don't for the same person. Another iOS 7 bug, I'm sure.

  • Wrong SMTP server got selected when sending email

For a Gmail account I set the outgoing mail server the smtp.gmail.com and checked the "only use this server" box.
Yet if I look at the full headers for an email I just sent it used a non-Gmail SMTP server from another account to send the email! This is confusing, and could potentially be embarrassing.
Anybody know what might be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I wouldn't give in too early. Easy for me to say. Persistence often pays off. Mvks is a wondrous beast. It seems o learn about your preferences as you try. If smtp continues to fail, rather than dump Mail, you could buy your own smtp server at outbound.mailhop.org. Google will find it. That works with any mail client anywhere.
    Too early?
I've been in Mail h*ll ever since upgrading to Mavericks! I've been through 3 versions of the Mavericks Mail app so far. I've been nothing but persistent - and neglecting real work just to do beta testing for Apple.
Mailplane right now is working fantastically well. And with all the keyboard shortcuts for labeling, filing and navigation I'm going zip zip zip through this morning's mailbox at a rate I never was able to before in Mail.
I'm plain tired of fussing with it. I just want my mail to be reliable!

  • How to set email "from" address when sending photo

when I send photos from my iPhone people respond to the wrong address. This just started. How do I switch the FROM address to the correct email address.

The From address you want has to be your default account - you can set this in the Mail settings.

  • PSE 8 No Email Program Error When Sending an Email

    Hi Everyone,
I have a student who has a pretty new computer running Win 7 with PSE 8. She has set up her email sharing with Adobe Services and has received/entered the verification code. However, when trying to send an email, she gets the following error message as soon as she hits Send.
"There is no e-mail program associated to perform the requested action.  Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Running PSE 8 as an administrator does not correct the problem. I thought that when you are using Adobe Email Service, you did not need an email program, like OL or Microsoft Mail. ??
    TIA Don S.

No, I never did get an answer.
To be honest I cannot remember if my student resolved their problem. I have never had that specific error message, and the last time I checked PSE 8 was emailing fine. HOWEVER, just yesterday, the only way I could send email from within PSE 7 was to not include any names from the PSE Contact list. This always caused PSE 7 to crash for both OL and Adobe Email Service, Photo Mail or Attachments. I have not checked PSE 8 yet.
I found out about the PSE 7 problem from a friend using OL. For her, it was working but all of a sudden, began to crash PSE 7.
Does anyone know if PSE 7/8 connects with Adobe while emailing, even if OL is used as the email client?
    Don S.

  • Is it possible to mark an email as important when sending it?

Sometimes i need to send an email that is marked as important. Is it posible to do this with the mail programme of mac?
Also it is possible to get a delivered notification or a read notification?
Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

Yes. In the lower right corner of the header area of a new e-mail message, change the "!" icon to "!! - High Priority".
Also it is possible to get a delivered notification or a read notification?
No. Other e-mail systems have this feature but it is not reliable. It is better to not know and know you don't know rather than think your e-mail hasn't been read when it has.

    ACTIVATING FACETIME AND IMESSAGES
Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS.  Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages.  If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)).  Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation.  If that does not fix things read the following articles:

  • Emails are lost when sending interrupted by bad connection

I have a problem with iOS5.1 on iPad 2 where Gmail emails that are sent generate an error "connection problem" and then the email just disappears. It is not saved to drafts (although there is sometimes an early draft that does not include the reams that I had typed just before sending), and there does not appear to be an outbox. This is a major problem. Has anyone else come across this problem and does anyone know how to retrieve these lost emails or how to avoid this problem?

I have 3 Yahoo! e-mail accounts and 1 gmail account that I use regularly. For all my e-list emails, I use only one of the Yahoo! accounts, yet Thunderbird attempts to send all my e-list replies from the gmail account. I can't figure out how to control/change this.

  • Can You set a Default Email Address when sending Emails

I have multiple email accounts set up. When I compose a new message, it always uses the send address of the message that is selected in the open window. Is there anyway to set a particular address as default or better yet don't pick an address and force me to select one from the pull down list?
    Doug Eaton

    Hello Doug.
Copied from Setting the account your email is sent from.
If you have set up multiple accounts in Mail, when you create a new message, the account the message is sent from is the one associated with the currently selected mailbox. If the current mailbox is listed in the On My Mac section of the mailbox list and is not associated with any particular account, then your message is sent from the first account listed in the Accounts pane of Mail Preferences.
You can select a different account to use to send the mail.
To send a message from a different account, choose the account from the Account pop-up menu when you're composing the message.
To change the order in which accounts are listed in the mailbox list, drag the account names into the order you want. You can also rearrange the account order in the Accounts pane of Mail Preferences.
Tiger Mail includes a default email account selection when selecting New to compose a new message regardless which mailbox is currently selected.

  • When sending a PDF form by email, is there a way to make a button into a drop-down to select multiple email addresses?

Basically, I'm wanting to have multiple recipients set up within a button, so I can pick and choose who and when I send the form to. I can only seem to get it to either send to only one email address, or to send to multiple email addresses all at one time, without the option to select a recipient upon pressing the button.
If anyone could help, I'd be really grateful.
    Many thanks in advance.
    James

First of all, a drop-down menu doesn't allow for multiple item selection. You'll need a list-box field for that.
Once you have that set up you can use the value(s) selected in this field as the recipients of the email.

  • When sending an email to multiply recipiants, using address autocompletion, all the address boxes convert to the name in the first box

I use Thunderbird for my email. When sending an email to multiple recipients, I use autocompletion from my local address book. When I select an additional recipient, the name initially appears correctly in the address box. Each time I drop down to add another recipient, the names in each box all revert to the name in the first box. I've used Thunderbird for 2 years and this just started today. Also, the cursor and names in the address box appear now in red instead of black. Hopefully you can solve this problem.
    Thank you,
    bradoc

There are some evil bugs in the current version of Thunderbird. You may find it works better if you click with the mouse, or move down with the arrow keys and click or use tab. IIRC, there's an issue with use of the Enter key. Or maybe the other way round ; please experiment. It's one of those frustrating bugs that seems to affect everyone but me.
You can download older versions here:
    https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/
I believe 31.2.0 is free of this particular issue. 24.6 seems to be a popular choice for those who dislike recent changes in the Composition window UI.

  • How do I select a sender when replying/forwarding email on z10?

    Current setup:
I have a Gmail and two other accounts. All mail from two other accounts is forwarded to Gmail.
I set up all three accounts on Z10.
When composing a new email, I can select any of the three accounts as a sender.
When replying to / forwarding a message, the sender is always set as Gmail, regardless of which address the message was sent to.
    Question:
Is there any way to select a sender for reply/forwarded message on Z10 from the list of email accounts?
Please do not offer to switch off forwarding; I am not going to check three emails on other computers I use to work with emails.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Currently, you can't change the sender when replying or forwarding. It will use whatever account the mail came from on the device.
