No external sound in Windows Vista Ultimate, using Leapord Boot Camp

I'm using a mac pro. I had this problem pre-leopard, and I thought leopard would possibly fix it, but it hasn't. The only sound I get when I'm in Windows comes out of the internal speaker. The externals don't work . But, they do work in OS X, so I know it's not the speakers. I tried re-installing the drivers, and that didn't work.
In device manager, the realtek High Definition Audio device looks to be installed correctly.

And in Vista don't forget to change the audio output in Vista itself.
Go into the control panel and choose the sound panel.
There are 3 tabs with each their audio out, make sure to choose the right audio output one and set it as default.

  • Windows Vista Ultimate installed via Boot Camp?

Can install Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit using the latest version of Boot Camp on OS X Lion 10.7.4, or is it not supported? This article is not clear: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461

You must install Windows 7 if you use OS X Lion or Mountain Lion. You can install Windows Vista, but the drivers aren't compatible with this edition

I am having this same issue. Im not sure if this is the cause but I think this is keeping PowerDVD Ultra 11 from playing back Bluray under Windows 7 / Bootcamp

    Decent prices, there.
Things to note: 32-bit XP only recognizes 3.5 GB RAM.  64-bit XP Home recognizes 16 GB RAM.  64-bit Pro recognizes 192 GB RAM.
If you have Core2Duo or better processor you have 64-bit system.
Darn to heck ... XP is needed.  Sorry.

  • Clone Windows HD to use for Boot Camp

    Hello Apple Forum!
I have a bit of an issue. I have had a laptop where the motherboard has died on me. The harddrive is perfectly fine though. What i want to do is clone the hard drive and have that set as the partition for Boot Camp. Is this possible?
    - First, could I put the hard drive into another laptop to clone it to an external HD? Even though there will be driver issues when I boot up WIndows 7 Pro.
    - Second, once I have the copied image onto my external hard drive, could I clone that to the boot camp partition?
Or, would I need to install a fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro on the Boot Camp, then download Acronis True Image and allow Acronis to handle the disk image on my external hard drive?
    Thanks.

    Moving Windows means
You have retail copy in order to reactivate
    Dell OEM won't work
The motherboard drivers are totally different and can't be uninstalled.
    Clean install is required
I'll leave it to you as to what methods to clone that can restore onto a Mac with hyrid GPT

  • Is Paragon's "HFS+  for Windows" safe to use in Boot Camp Windows &/or Parallel 8 Windows?

Is Paragon's "HFS+ for WIndows" safe to use for read+write access to HFS+ drives when running Windows [8] via Boot Camp?
Drivers that came with Apple Boot Camp (or maybe Parallels [8]) enable "read-only" access to HFS+ formatted drives from Boot Camped Windows, but I want to be able to write to the drives, too.  I'm worrying about whether something in those Apple (or Parallels) drivers for Windows that makes that possible might also conflict with other software like "HFS+ for Windows," maybe even make a risk of corrupting the HFS+ disk (either external or even the OS X boot partition) so badly that everything on it becomes lost.
So I'm looking for people's experiences with using "HFS+ for Windows" with Parallels Desktop [8] for Mac.  Is it safe?
    Thanks.

Thanks, Templeton.  Yes, within OS X using Parallels 8 the integration with the Windows Parallels virtual machine is great.  But once I leave the OS X / Parallels environment the folder sharing access disappears.  So when I Boot Camp to Windows I have no visibility into the OS X partition nor any external HFS+ drives.  (Except for a few specific activities that can only be done in OS X or are best in OS X, I spend almost all my time in Windows, so I usually wouldn't run OS X or Parallels to Windows.)
Thanks GeekBoy.  Paragon HFS sounds risky with Parallels.  I'll be eager for more feedback about risks of using that combo from whomever can offer it.

  • Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit boot camp issues...

    Whats up guys?
    So here is my problem:
I installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my macbook. The install went great and everything works like a charm except my headphone jack is red, and i have no audio, and no wifi. I installed 3.0 drivers from my Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard disc, and updated to 3.1, and it seems the update fails. This is the third day i have been trying to fix this, and i cant find anything. Apple doesn't even know what to do! I have tried DLing realtek drivers, nvidia drivers, intel chipset drivers, EVERYTHING! I don't know what to do, but i need windows for my new job! Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Josh

Yeah i have done that a couple of times. When i navigate through the disk it doesn't even let me run setup.exe, so i installed from bootcamp64.msi. Then after 3.0 installs, i try to update to 3.1 and after the nvidia install, it just quits. When i use my version tracker it says that boot camp is in version 3.0, and it shows an update for 3.1 in software update. Now when i go to uninstall programs, it shows boot camp 3.1 is installed.
As far as the audio, i have tried that as well. If i manually put a driver into that device, it fails on every reboot. It only shows working on Microsoft High Deff Audio Drivers( and it actually dosnt even work, it just glows red on my head phone jack.)
    Im stumped.

  • Installing Windows 7 Without Using The Boot Camp Installer (MacBook Pro)

I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but I was able to install Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro just using the Windows 7 install disk.
I restarted with the windows CD in, and when the screen said press any key to boot from CD, I pressed the space bar. When it got to the part to select the installation drive, I went into advanced and removed all the partitions and formatted the whole thing. There was a small system partition the cannot be deleted (probably reserved for the system). I was able to install Windows 7 and use the whole drive for it.
After running Windows 7, I was still able to install the Boot Camp Control Panel to set the keyboard, track pad, sound, and all the other funtions. If I tell it to reboot to the Apple OS, it just reboots to Window 7 with no problems.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool and might be helpful for people who want to run only Widows 7 on their MacBook Pro.
CAUTION... DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

People have been using Mac as Windows-only.
On Mac Pro, with 4 internal drives, it is normal to not use anything other than the Windows DVD and install onto a dedicated drive, same as you did, only change it from GPT to MBR first.
    There is no risk.
(Well, some feel that someone might 'need' OS X to do something like a firmware update I guess.)

  • Please Help! Problems with Windows Vista 32-bit on Boot Camp (Wireless/Etc)

We recently purchased a new aluminum Mac Book (13 inch) with Leopard (10.5.4). I attempted to install Boot Camp and Windows Vista 32-bit. I can successfully alternate between both operating systems with no problems. However, I am having 2 problems:
    1) I cannot connect to wireless internet. No connections will even show up when I attempt to connect, its almost as if an adapter hasn't been installed.
    2) I cannot set up the trackpad to do right click.
I've read articles everywhere and nothing has helped. Can anybody please help me??? Any support/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    - Pierce

    dpierceNKC:
    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
It appears that you may not have installed the boot camp drivers. Boot into Windows and insert your Leopard installation disk in the CD/DVD drive. This should automatically begin installation of the necessary drivers. Reboot the computer when instructed and all the hardware should work as designed.
The right click is accomplished by placing two fingers on the trackpad and then depressing the trackpad button. This should also work after the drivers are installed as instructed above.

  • Can I run a Free version of Windows (Vista, XP, 7) through Boot Camp

I want to take some online training for Visio and MS Project but need the programs on my computer for the classes. Instead of buying all of them, I would like to download free trail versions of Viso and Project and run them through a free trial version of Windows XP, Visa, or 7 via Boot Camp.
Any ideas whether it will work, recommendations, pitfalls?
    Thanks
    Scott

Will it be pretty straight forward to uninstall the MS software after is expires?
MS uninstall is pretty straightforward. Just use the Programs Control Panel. But you wouldn't be able to reinstall the trials without completely reloading Windows. (Windows remembers the date the trial originally started.) Virtualization options like Parallels and Fusion are good tools (I use Fusion daily) but the additional learning curve for virtualization may or may not be something you want to deal with right now since you're trying to learn something else. But virtualization has advantages if you do much non-video work in Windows, so is something to keep in mind in the future. (e.g.: no need to reboot to use Windows or OSX.) Parallels and Fusion have trial versions so you can test the waters when you're ready.
Obviously I am a novice to Boot Camp and my biggest priority is to not mess up the Mac side when I am doing this.
Even if you use Boot Camp, just run Boot Camp Assistant after you're done to remove the Boot Camp partition. You will then have your Mac back to it's pre-Windows configuration.

  • No sound in windows vista ultimate 64

Hi ... I have the X-FI xtremegamer fatality pro series soundcard. I've installed the driver fine but I get no sound whatsoever from any of the output from the card. I have tried everything from disabling onboard to using headphones to test to moving the card to the pci slot. Evertime I tried something I always reinstall vista just incase. This is getting really frustrating for me. So please anyone help me, really desperate. System config below: Core 2 duo E6600Adata 2x GB kitP5B Deluxe Wifi/AP Bios 226XFX 8800 GTX2 x 320 Seagate Dri'veBenQ DVD-RW Dri'veLogitech G7Logitech G Help please!

thanks for replying..... I'm using the latest driver from the site X.0004 for the x-fi xtremegamer fatality pro. The Sound card is detected just fine. The card shows up correctly, but its just that there are no sound coming out from any of the line out. If I play an mp3 or a movie, I can see that the bar is moving under "Sound" in control panel. I've tested it using headphones etc. The card itself is fine because I tested it on windows xp, well the store where I bought it from did. So its not a hardware problem.

  • Windows installer can't detect boot camp partition

    Hello,
I recently bought my first iMac and I am trying to install Windows 8.1 using the Boot Camp Assistant. I have rebooted the Mac into the Windows installer program and made it to the screen titled "Where do you want to install Windows?" However, the Boot Camp partition I thought I created earlier is not showing on the list of available drives. I have tried hitting the Refresh button several times.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

I haven't really kept up lately but the only thing I see missing in your information is you didn't say if you had Formatted the Boot Camp partitiion to NTFS. The last I looked into Boot Camp that was one of the mandatory things you had to do in order for the installer to "see" the partition.
You end up formating it twice.
The original format when you make the Windows partition should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" it's done by the Mac (BootCamp) then when your booted from the Windows installer you then have to format it again with the NTFS format. And of course it has to be on an internal drive. And a full install disk not an upgrade disk. Boot Camp 5?
Take a gander at the instructions again and see if you might have missed a step?
Hope it helped, at least I bumped ya up.......

  • Bootcamp: Sound not working on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Hello everyone, I've got quite an unsual problem (whell at least I think anyway). On my iMac (Mid 2008, 2.4Ghz C2D, 2GB ram, 2400XT), I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I've been using the sound out of the speakers, until now when I decided to connect some extenal speakers. I have the bootcamp drivers installed (from Snow Leopard DVD). When I plugged the headphone jack into the headphone socket on the back, I noticed that the sound was still coming out of the speakers, so I opened the preferences and it showed that I had something plugged into the line-in jack- which I didn't! I removed the headphone jack from the headphone socket and plugged it into the line-in. Nothing changed in the preferences. So basically, Windows thinks the line-out port is line-in! I would appreciate some help with this issue, not sure how common it is!
    Thanks :-)

Hi I'm not sure if this is going to help but have you got the service pack 1 installed on your laptop as when I installed it on my desktop the first time it caused blue screen errors and gave me loads of problems including error messages that seemed to come up with every application I opened and an annoying driver IQRL equal or less than but couldn't work out why and then in the end I had so many problems I had to totally reformat my desktop and I removed my XP scanner and webcam(both had vista drivers) and when I reinstalled the service pack 1 it was fine, so do you by any chance have anything attached to your laptop that was XP and has vista drivers as these seemed to be what was causing my errors.
Also a question about your graphic card drivers, I've got the same laptop as you and was looking for the graphic card driver updates and couldn't find them anywhere on the site, where did you find yours? I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit , my model number is A200-28P(PSAE6) and I'd love to know if there is a newer graphics card driver but can't find it on the knowledge base so the fact you've updated yours would you mind pointing a new user in the right direction :-)
    Thanks,

  • Will Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade using Win 7 Enterprise Upgrade

My pc is currently running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit.  It was running 64 bit originally, but because of certain business applications that only ran on 32 bit, we had to downgrade to 32 bit.  By the time they got the programs updated, it was
too late (cost and time-wise) to return to 64 bit version.
I recently purchased Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit, because a Microsoft technical support person told me that Enterprise would be the upgrade to use.  When I recently read "Windows 7 Upgrade Paths" it appears this is not the case.  Will
I be able to upgrade from Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Enterprise, as I was advised?  If not, then Microsoft just cost me a lot of money!!
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hello Dave,
Based on my research, Windows Vista Ultimate can’t upgrade to Windows 7 enterprise.
For more information, please take a look at the following article about Windows 7 upgrade path.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579(v=ws.10).aspx
Windows Vista Ultimate can only upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
Please contact the support to check if you can return the Windows 7 enterprise. For more information about return, please take a look at the following article.
