No graphics environment

I'm running the apache module on OS X using MAMP. I get the
following error when I try to embed a PNG for use in a stylesheet.
An error occured on the server. Server error is: 'Error
occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.lang.InternalError: An error occurred because there is no
graphics environment available. Please set the headless-server
setting in the Flex configuration file to true.'
I've tried adding
<headless-server>true</headless-server> to the compiler
node of flex-config.xml but I get the same error.
Any ideas what to try next?

Nirav,
Have you checked the IGS (Internet Graphics Services)?

Gilson

  • Solaris 10 Sparc not rebooting in graphical environment

    I've installed Solaris 10 on Sparc. When I reboot the system it only boots into character login prompt. I then logged in and cd /usr/dt and executed dtlogin which enabled me to bring up the graphical environment. This is a brand new install on some old hard drives.
    When I installed 9 last week on this same machive, but different harddrive, the graphical login always came up.
    What have I done or doing wrong. I installed solaris 10 for sparc and chose automatic reboot after installation so there weren't any other questions that I may have missed during the install.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    It is working now - I ran sysid-unconfig, rebooted, re-entered all the info and it rebooted and came up to the login screen.

  • [SOLVED] Graphical environment won't boot up after today's update.

    Hi
    I've performed a -Syu today morning and so far I haven't been able to get my graphical environment (gnome 3) up.
    The update didn't seem to be faulty, no unusual messages caught my eye. Here's a complete list of packages that were upgraded (from pacman.log)
    - shared-color-profiles removed
    - upgraded colord (1.0.6-1 -> 1.2.0-1)
    - upgraded gtk3 (3.12.1-1 -> 3.12.1-2)
    - upgraded colord-gtk (0.1.25-1 -> 0.1.25-2)
    - upgraded cronie (1.4.11-1 -> 1.4.11-2)
    - upgraded elfutils (0.158-1 -> 0.158-2)
    During the next bootup, when the information 'reached target graphical interface' appeared, I got some screen blinking and this:
    "[drm:hsw_unclaimed_reg_clear] *ERROR* Unknown unclaimed register before writing to 4a000
    This error message and the blinking appears about 8 times, then the process just hangs.
    I have tried downgrading each of the aforementioned packages, but it didn't help. There's a bunch of diagnostic stuff coming out of pacman on every operation though:
    http://ix.io/bZg
    The first kind of error message, by the glib-2.0 files is Polish for 'file is empty or only contains spaces'; the other kind, by the ldconfig lines, means 'file empty, left unchecked'.
    For good measure, here's my entire dmesg output. It seems to contain a bit more information about the unclaimed register error at the end.

    Please assist me in getting this fixed.

    No, I don't have nouveau-dri installed. It might be the kernel driver. Messages from 'nouveau' have been appearing ever since I've installed the system actually, and I've learned to ignore them, but they did initially make me raise an eyebrow. Anyway, everything was fine and dandy for about 4 months now, until this morning's update, when the packages mentioned in my initial post were installed.
    As for the second matter, see my initial post:
    The first kind of error message, by the glib-2.0 files is Polish for 'file is empty or only contains spaces'; the other kind, by the ldconfig lines, means 'file empty, left unchecked'.
    The one you're asking about is the second ('file is empty, it has not been checked')
    I'm now in the process of locating and reinstalling the packages to which these files belong. I've already handled the QT libs (I think) and I'm going to try to handle the others:
    all in the lib32 folder:
    - libelf.so and .so.1 and -0.158.so
    - libdw.so and .so.1 and -0.158.so
    - libasm.so and .so.1 and -0.158.so
    - liblcms2.so and .so.2 and .so.2.0.6
    I have no knowledge of how these affect the bootup of Gnome however...
    edit:
    I have successfully reinstalled the following packages:
    lib32-lcms2
    lib32-elfutils
    lib32-qt4
    rebooting...
    ...and still just a mouse cursor over the bootup log...
    The last line of dmsg says:
    systemd-journald[204] Failed to write entry (26 items, 170304121 bytes) despite vacuuming, ignoring: Argument list too long
    is there a way to get a hold of what can't be written in there? I don't know where else to look for information on what's wrong.
    There's also this in the journalctl (both the last one and the previous one I pasted). The problem _is_  Gnome rendering nothing but a cursor, so perhaps this could be of use...
    kwi 29 19:59:18 wapiti gnome-session[465]: (gnome-shell:500): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchscreen' is not installed
    kwi 29 19:59:18 wapiti kernel: traps: gnome-shell[500] trap int3 ip:7fb603707993 sp:7fff2a1a55f0 error:0
    I have pursued that trail. Indeed, it turned out that my gnome-settings-manager package was completely broken. Its configuration files were empty (the ones in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas), as was /var/lib/pacman/local/gnome-settings-daemon-3.12.1-2/files file.
    I have performed a pacman -S --force gnome-settings-daemon and I'm no longer writing from my girlfriend's PC
    I have a follow-up question to the more knowledgable - how and why can a package become corrupted like this??
    My Gnome booted up, however it works pretty damn choppy. It's as fast as normal, but there are no animations. Also, there are frequent glitches before a window is rendered. Part of the screen becomes all scrambled for a moment before the window appears.
    I'll try to look for reasons on my own, but I'd still appreciate advice on debugging my glitchy Gnome and explanations as to why gnome-settings-daemon had basically wiped itself out...
    Ok, on a final note in this topic: the glitches were fixed by force reinstalling xf86-video-intel and intel-dri.

    The proprietary nvidia driver will require configuration. Follow the suggestion in the Beginners' Guide and use nouveau first (it has a section with instructions for nvidia cards), so you don't need a /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Once you get it working, you can switch to the closed source driver if you still want to.
    Just start back at this step:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … _Install_X.
    You should remove the 'nvidia' package and reboot first to make sure the module isn't loaded and nouveau is loaded (the kernel module doesn't need to be installed, it will just load when you reboot).
    Then, you just need xorg and xf86-video-nouveau, along with mesa and nouveau-dri if you want 3d. If you've made an xorg.conf, delete it, and just use the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf that the guide tells you to make.
    Switch to your regular user, make sure there's no .xinitrc, and startx will work fine.
    I started from this step and when a typed
    startx
    i got the
    no screens found
    error :(:(:(
    edit: now i noticed: how do i remove the nvidia package?

  • Networking in a graphics environment

    I have five Macs, G4's and G5's, all running OSX 10.4.11 - Five graphic designers, who back up their work on a Mac XServer 10.4.11
    Designer A backs up his job to the XServer, then Designer B needs to edit it, so she attempts to transfer it from the XServer.
    Permission denied for only some of the files, not all.
    My question is: What is the proper way to network these Macs in this kind of environment. We need to share things all the time.
    Do I create a group? So far, they have to log on to each other as "Guests" and can utilize the Public>Drop Box directory.
    I created a Group, but when files are pulled off of the XServer, the Group permissions reverts back to the individual owner.
    Thank you for any insights...

    Sure:Group is good.
    Make sure all the users are in that group, make sure they all log on with their names (not as Guest), ensure that the sharepoint has propagated permissions when you first set it up.
    Are you using ACL, do you know?
    If you are still having problems after that, then it may be helpful if you post the actual permissions for users and group for a file.

  • [SOLVED]Graphical environment doesn't start on boot

    Hi,
    I've tried to change default boot target to graphical, but it doesn't work. I use grub so I tried to edit
    /etc/default/grub
    GRUB_DEFAULT=2
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet systemd.unit=graphical.target"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
    It didn't change anything, so I tried to use
    systemctl set-default -f graphical.target
    But it's not working either. What am I doing wrong? Or what am I missing?
    I know that simple workaround is starting X after log in to console, but I don't want this.

    Do you want to draw the map in the program or do you want to load an alleady drawn map.
    If you draw it in the program, what is the shape of the countries, if it is a simple shap then in is simple if it looks like a real map then you have a lot of work because you need to hold an array of pixels for each country.
    Give me more info and i will try to help.(you can email)

  • 10.6.8 Causes New Problem with Mixed Graphics Hardware Environment - Suggestions?

    Hi. After installing the latest Mac OS update (10.6.8), I can no longer boot my 5,1 Mac Pro into its Mac OS partition.  An undefined display (and graphics card) now seems to be used as default, rather than the supported display/hardware, so I cannot interact with the user interface.  I simply have an inoperable blue screen on the correct display. I have 2 graphics cards in my Mac Pro: a supported GT120 (solely for the purpose of booting/using Mac OS), and an unsupported HD6970 (used extensively for Windows 7 3D gaming, in Slot 1).  Until this latest OS release, I could successfully boot and use my computer in both Mac OS and Windows environments.  I encountered other problems because of this mixed graphics environment, like an inability to put the system to sleep without having the Mac Pro PCI fan unnecessarily ramp up to full speed after waking - but it would always work correctly when first booted.  (I have contacted Apple Support about this sleep issue, but they do not support my configuration.) Does any boot command exist to force the use of the supported graphics card?  Or, do kext files exist to enable the Mac OS to at least recognize (not use) the 6970 card? With the 6970 removed, I have no problems booting the Mac OS, but I do NOT want to remove my hardware card every time I want to shift to the Mac OS.  Do anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for the suggestions.
    First, I cannot swap graphic cards in PCI slots, because the 6970 only operates correctly in slot 1 (the high-speed graphics slot).  I may have to revert to the prior OS release, but what about next month, with Lion?
    I am familiar with Netkas.org (I will probably try it or Groths.org next, thanks).  One of my previous graphics cards was a flashed 4970.  I do not have access to the prelease Lion kext files that he suggests using.  Full flash support does not appear to yet exist for the 6970, much less the HD 6990 or GTX 590 that it appears I may need next.
    Ideally, the Mac Pro firmware should ignore any attempted bus communication with an unrecognized PCI card.  Currently, it appears that the unsupported 6970 can cause boot or run-time problems (I also have occasional freezes during Mac OS hardware interaction like writing a file to disk).  Note that I have never had any problems arising from my unsupported Windows 5.1 PCI sound card, however.

  • Graphical keyboard-driven applications

    It appears to me that there are only two types of applications one can choose from: command line applications (either mimicking graphical user interfaces with curses or with a pure text interface) or GUI applications with the typical widgets: menus, bars, buttons and so on. In many GUI applications the keyboard support is tantamount to providing a few shortcuts to menu items. This is why I often prefer programs that were designed for the command line.
    Being a fan of neat font-rendering and typography, though, I dislike being forced to make a decision: either it is { non-proportional fonts + proper typography } OR { keyboard-driven interface + usability }.
    I dislike using mutt for email, because I cannot stand looking at terminus / envy code r / inconsolata (you name it) when reading long paragraphs. A graphical email client, on the other hand side, typically reduces the reading pane, because of all the information it wants to put in plain sight of the user: menus, directories, this'n'that.
    Do you know of applications that attempt to combine the benefits of both worlds? Like an email client with a modal keyboard-driven interface, showing only the text of the currently selected email in a user-specified font? With its settings tucked away in a configuration file? Without menus and the typical GUI-clutter?
    I don't want to reinvent the tricycle (again and for no reason).
    Is there anyone else who feels the same and would like to see something like this being developed? (The answer to this question might motivate me enough to actually work on something like this.)
    Anyways, I'm looking forward to your input.

    tvale wrote:I suppose it would be neat to develop a full suite of applications.
    Yes, that'd be lovely.
    What I would wish to escape from is the console font in keyboard-driven interfaces. Does an application running in a graphical environment really need to use these ASCII-artsy dashes instead of, well, simple lines? I see that this makes sense on a pure ASCII terminal, but this abuse of special characters to mimic user interface separators is what makes these keyboard-driven interfaces look more geeky or nostalgic than they need to be (or rather: than I would wish them to be).
    Example:
    the "-- INSERT --" indicator or the progress bar in vimperator/pterodactyl; I don't enjoy working with vim because of its looks; copying the terminal-look when the actual goal is to re-implement the modal interface seems to be beside the point.
    These thoughts lay dormant in the back of my head until I (again) watched the ad for Enso (http://www.humanized.com/). I always wanted to control my computer via some kind of universal command line interface (like an advanced dmenu). The actual text interface could be implemented there; compliant software would simply expose a socket to write to (similar to how the uzbl core works).
    A program would thus be reduced to offering controllers and views; the interface could be implemented externally or internally as the traditional array of widgets (menu bars, status bars, you name it...).
    Wouldn't that be ... unixy in some sense?
    (NOTE: I'm only dreaming. Feel free to either join me or wake me up.)
    EDIT: replace the concept of sockets with dbus and this might actually work. Will have to play a little with dbus to see if I can inch my way towards realization of this idea.

  • Graphical login as root [rant]

    I've read several reviews of Linux distributions oriented towards new users, and I'm a bit shocked by what I've seen. Apparently a lot of them log you into a graphical environment on first boot - as root.
    Now, starting as root on a command line is one thing, but root in a GUI is bloody insane. The sheer stupidity of this absolutely stuns me. X should not be run as root, and environments like KDE should definitely not be run as root. It's insecure and there is no reason for it. It's easy enough to create a default account for first login, isn't it? Well, then why don't installers for GUI-centric distros do that? It's the most basic principle of UNIX security: if it can be done as a user, don't do it as root!

  • Graphics does not start unless I chmod a=rwx /run/user/0

    Hello, I boot Arch Linux 2014.04.01 x86_64 Live CD, do
    pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit i3 xf86-input-synaptics xf86-video-modesetting
    useradd someuser ; mkdir -p /home/someuser ; chown someuser:someuser /home/someuser
    su someuser ; cd /home/someuser
    and put i3 in .xinitrc as per the wiki.
    I run startx as someuser, but the graphic environment will not start, and in Xorg's log I read it cannot write in /run/user/0, check permission. Then I do ''chmod a=rwx /run/user/0'', and startx works.
    This additional step is not mentioned in the wiki. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Thanks,

    Where did you get this idea?  This is the problem.
    Follow the wiki
    Also, you realize everything you are installing and doing only remains in memory.  Why are you installing all these packages?  Are you going to repeat this installation and user creation at every reboot?
    EDIT: something else is wrong too - but until you fix the above, it will be hard to know if it is a separate cause, or an indirect effect.  /run/user/0 should not be relevant, but /run/user/1000 should be used.  I suspect your method of starting X is logging out of the 'su'ed user and is dropping back to the root login that it is under.  You'll likely need to change tty's to log in as your user - on a normal system you could log out of the root session and back in as your user - but on the iso I think autologin for root is set on tty1.  Of course you could disable this too.
