No hdmi picture

We just purchased 2 new Envy H8-1437c PCs and the both are having the same issue where we can't get a picture through HDMI.  They both work with the monitors if we use VGA cables (the pc came with a DVI>VGA adapter).  We have two different monitors with both HDMI and VGA options.  When the computers are first turned on with HDMI, we can see the HP logo but then it disappears and they stay dark.  We've tried different HDMI cables, different monitors including our home TV's, without any luck.
It's odd that we have 2 brand new PC's with the same issue.  Is there some sort of switch that needs to be enabled to allow the HDMI to work?  I've looked through the BIOS and found one option for display and have played with that without success.  Either I'm completely missing something, or these two are bad, or there is an issue with the line.  I've checked the support site to see if there were any updates to address this but didn't see anything.  We've contacted HP support without resolution.
Before we return these, does anyone have any ideas what I could try?

As an FYI, we just replaced one of the two from the store it was purchased from and it worked without any issues.  I guess we hit the statistical anomoly of having 2 machines with the same failure.  Oh well.  Problem solved and we move on.    Thanks again.

I have media live barebone with XP Pro SP2 and everything is working fine except there is no signal from HDMI after standby. I have Philips 26PF4310 connected via HDMI-DVI cable. I have installed drivers from MSI site (Updated 2007-03-08). Computer must be restarted so that picture comes visible again. Does anyone got solution to this problem?

  • HT1551 No HDMI picture Unless I power Apple TV off/on

Just bought Apple TV and it works fine, however if I switch my TV over to a differnt HDMI channel, say my PVR on HDMI1 and then switch back to Apple TV on HDMI2 I get a "No Signal" message.
The only was I can get Apple TV to display again is to power it off and on again.
I don't want to have to do this every time I use it, any suggestions please?

What types of signal does it support, is it widescreen and does it support 720p.

  • No sound over HDMI, picture works fine but in sound manager tells me HDMI not connected

    Hi There
I have a tm2 1050ez and am experiencing problems with my HDMI port.
When I connect it the display automatically gets duplicated and everything works fine, but when I try to play a movie with vlc for example I do not get any sound through the TV, only on the tablet.
Of course I went into the sound manager because I suspected that you must tell the tm2 where to play the sound, but to my surpise it said that the HDMI cable was not connected?
I therefore could not make any changes to the default output device...
Even in the IDT application wants to tell me that the HDMI cable is not connected. I have plugged and unplugged it several times to no avail.
I hope someone can help me on the above, I already searched the net for several hours but havn't seen a similar problem, with the most problems it does show the cable as conneted..
    Thanks in advance!

  • HDMI On Mac Mini Late 2012: Problem with hardware?

Just converted from PC to Mac.
Purchased latest mac mini (Late 2012 version)
Have tried several monitors through HDMI port and each time the picture quality is poor with very bad text resolution.
Have tried HDMI to HDMI  and also tried HDMI to DVI adaptor.
This is with full 1080p 27 inch samsung monitor and HP 2010i monitor.
Is there a problem with the HDMI port on this new mac mini?
The monitors I have are fine and are crystal sharp when connected to PC.
Many thanks if you can answer this

OK. So I have now tried LG 27 Inch E2742 Monitor as follows:
    1) Mini display to DVI-D : Picture good with decent text resolution
    2) HDMI-HDMI: Picture poor with poor colour and text resolution. This is not a calibration issue.
The samsung monitor 27 inch series 3 also has poor picture and colour and text resolution with HDMI-HDMI. Again this is not a calibration issue. It does not have a DVI-D input to test the minidisplay port.
So it seems the HDMI port is not working properly but the minidisplay one is ok as I suspected.
From reading the other threads it seems this is a common problem including those people that have taken their minis back for an exchange and experienced same problem.
Is there likely to be a software update to resolve this?

  • Mac mini: Samsung 27 inch series 3 monitor problem.

Connecting HDMI(mini) to HDMI(Monitor) leads to poor text resolution (blurry difficult to read). Monitor only has HDMI or VGA. Will mindisplay to vga adaptor work and give a clear picture?
Have tried PC to moitor through VGA and gives clear perfect picture.
Answer would be most grateful as otherwise mac is much better than PC in all other aspects and would not wish to go back to PC

  • Cannot get new Mac Mini to detect TV

I've just got a new Mac Mini which I wanted to connect to my TV via HDMI. I used to use my Macbook to connect to it using mini DVI to HDMI and it worked fine but the Mac Mini doesn't detect it at all. I've tried changing the resolution and various other things but no luck. Any ideas how to get it working?

Install the recent EFI firmware update for your mini that was just released. It should be available through software update. Do one power cycle of your mini after this firmware update.
Power your mini off. Power on the TV and switch to the specific HDMI port connected to your mini. Now, power on the mini. See if this TV first scenario and the firmware update resolve your TV detection and HDMI picture.

  • Imac to AV receiver configuration question.

I recently upgraded my AV receiver from a really old old Yamaha 530 to Yamaha RV 375. This one has nice shiny HDMI connections.
The problem is that my iMac (Early 2010) doesn't output audio through the minidisplay HDMI connection. Earlier I was routing the HDMI (picture only) directly into TV and using Airfoil to push audio through Airport Express to the AV receiver.
Now my TV has only one HDMI input which I have connected to the AV reciever. How can I get video and audio out of my iMac without having to switch cables every time I change devices?

Check the owner's manual for your RX-V375.  Page 24 describes how to tie an HDMI video input to the AV5 or Audio 1-2 inputs.

  • LCD Monitor Recommendations

As prices fall, I'd like to buy an LCD monitor and reclaim some desk space occupied by my Sony Trintron 19" CRT monitor these many years.
What are some of the better brands/models for editing (FCE)? I think a 20" or more would give me greater screen real estate, and what about brands? Some online research indicate the Dells are considered pretty good, and so are the Samsungs.
What are some brand and model preferences from this forum, and why?
    Thanks,
and Happy New Year to all
    Keith

Been using a pair of Dell 2408's for the last 6 months.
Stable color. I'm using a Spyder2Pro for calibration and they both show exactly the same colors.
Lots of connection possibilities. Work in portrait mode if you'd like.
Work with the MXO as a calibrated HD monitor.
Major complaint is I can't drive the monitors with DVI and have a HDMI picture within a picture. It has to be component. Otherwise - no complaints.

  • QIP6200 Default Settings Reset

Have a QIP6200 HDTV FIOS set top box. Prior to last upgrade with power off you would press 'menu' and get the internal set top box menu including one to reset the box. With the last upgrade, the standby mode uses the Menu button to wake up the box. I have a Tivo Series 2 connected the the S-Video and Sony LCD to the HDMI. Not seeing HDMI picture but the channel number 'flashes' when I select the HDMI on the TV which shows the TV and box are talking to each other. All has been fine, working for last few years in this configuartion, something changed.  Any ideas of how I can reset the QIP6200 back to factory defaults?

I would suggest one last thing before you call or re-cable. Every once in a while, maybe once every 3 months, I lose the picture on my HDMI connection. When I do, it generally won't come back until I pull the power from the STB, wait 15 or 20 seconds, and plug it back in. That has always gotten the HDMI output to work again for me. I think it would be worth a try if you have not already done that..... __________________________________

  • HP x2301 no signal detected?

Okay, so here's my setup. I've got two computers with me; one, a desktop PC I built (nVidia GTX 670 graphics) and two, a macbook pro ''13.
My desktop is set up with dual monitors, both 1080p; one an Asus and the other the problematic x2301. They are connected directly to the GTX 670 with a DVI and HDMI cable respectively. They both worked absolutely fine until this morning.
I dual boot Mac OSX 10.8 and Windows 8 on my desktop, and this morning when I tried my newly installed Windows 8 the x2301 suddenly decided to turn black. The computer still thinks its plugged in though and it recognizes it in the displays preference pane, but the monitor itself is black and says no signal is coming in from the HDMI. When I tried to switch them around, as in HDMI into the Asus and DVI into the HP, the Asus had a fuzzy image and the display settings had changed. When it was set to the native 1080p, the image wasn't perfectly aligned onto the screen and it was dizzying to look at. The HP showed nothing. When I plugged both the HDMI and the DVI cables into the Asus, I could cycle between HDMI and DVI and get both pictures (the only thing was the HDMI picture was fuzzy again).
The only thing that could be wrong I thought was the hardware in the monitor itself. I broke out the Macbook and plugged in a VGA cable into it, and lo and behold a picture was shown on the HP. It was set to 1920*1080 at 60Hz but there was oddly some black space (about a centimeter) at either side of the picture. The image itself was clear though; it didn't seem as if it had been compressed.
By the way, I tried all of these tests on Mac and Windows on the desktop. Neither would recognize the HP. Even when the Asus was disconnected and the HP solely connected by either DVI or HDMI the BIOS wouldn't show onto the HP.
Taking all of this into account, it means that:
    1. The graphics card is fine, as an image was displayed on the Asus and just not on the HP,
    2. Both the HDMI and DVI cables are fine, as they can both be connected to the Asus.
    3. The HP doesn't seem to be totally broken, as the macbook can show a picture on it.
What's up with the monitor? I have no clue what could be wrong because the HP does detect VGA and it was working absolutely fine not five hours ago. The desktop PC is totally fine too — I'm typing this post on it using the Asus monitor. Should I send in the HP to a technician? I tried to reset it to factory settings using its OSD, but no luck.
What about the fact that the HDMI signal is fuzzy on the Asus? That has absolutely nothing to do with the HP — after all, the HP is disconnected!
This is making me tear my hair out!
Apologies for the tortuous post, I will clarify if need be.

Contact HP and arrange to send it in for warranty service.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Bad Picture Quality On SD Channels With HDMI And Panasonic VIERA 720p LCD HDTV

I just bought a new Panasonic VIERA 32" 16:9 8ms 720p LCD HDTV TC-L32X1 for my in-laws when they finally had Verizon FIOS brought into their neighborhood last month.
Install was by the Verizon tech using the HDMI cable I also had shipped to them.
The HD channels quality is excellent, but the SD quality is smeared -- almost looks like an impressionist painting.
It is not the TV -- the TV menus are crystal clear, as are the HD channels.
And, it is not just the broadcast HD -- the DVR box menus are also smeared when viewing as SD channel, as is the guide and the pop up channel info.
We've tried all the settings on the TV -- Zoom, 4:3, etc.
The other TV (an older CRT) actually has better SD quality than the Panasonic.
My research indicates we're not the only ones on FIOS with this problem. Someone suggested using the component hookup rather than HDMI?
Other say that IMG 1.7 is supposed to solve the problem, that the SD quality was fine before IMG 1.6.
    Any suggestions, solutions, or updates?
    The picture is virtually unwatchable.
    Thank you!

Joe01880 - Being a new customer as of last October, I have never seen anything other than IMG 1.6.  My understanding from other posts is that before IMG 1.6, the SD PQ on an HD box was just fine.  I'm not sure what the complaints/gripes/begs were for IMG 1.6 but it seems to me that, if Verizon knows what changes were made, it should be straightforward to determine which changes caused a deterioration of the PQ.  I think it's been at least 6 months since the first complaints of poor PQ, so I don't really see how anyone can claim that Verizon is in danger of "rushing" an update to address this problem.  I also don't think that a forum topic, no matter how much it complains or gripes, will cause Verizon to rush.  I am much more worried that during a large portion of my 2 year contract that the issue won't be addressed at all, so I'm happy to add my voice to those complaining."

  • Mini display port to HDMI - negative picture issue

I bought a new Macbook Pro 13,3 inch laptop last week and added a 120 GB ssd and 8 GB of RAM. I'm loving it!
Something I'm not loving however is the issue with the Mini Display Port / Thunderbolt when connecting with a MDP-HDMI adaptor. I watch a lot of movies and so hooking the computer up to my Sony BRAVIA 46 inch TV is quite important. Everytime I do the picture and sound are great! For about 5 minutes... then the picture goes "negative" you know that turqoise look?? Like a negative image. The sound is still there, the picture is just affected. To remedy I have to turn the tv off and restart the movie. Very annoying doing this ever 4-5 minutes!!
Is there a fix of some sort? Apple should really release an update for this.
    Thanks!

sounds more like a hardware failure.
Try a different monitor to see if the problem persists, in which case that would point to a bad video card... or try a different source with your monitor(another computer), and if the problem persists, that would indicate a problem with the monitor

what do i need to connect my mac book pro to the tv with the mac's thunderbolt port to hdmi? I have the newest macbook pro. I'm wanting to have the best picture I can get from my 1080p tv. thanks

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.
Thank everybody, especialy Zyriab, ne was the closest.
    High regards to everybody

  • I am trying to connect my mac book pro to the tv via a mini display port and a hdmi cable, the only picture that is on the tv screen is the background picture on my computer, any suggestions?

I am trying to connect my mac book pro to the tv via a mini displayport to a hdmi cable, the only picture on the tv screen is the background picture of my mbp, does anyone know what I need to connect to my samsung tv ?

Hi there. I also bought an iWires mini Display port to HDMI cable and have an LG LED/LCD TV. I plugged it in to my MB Pro and followed the very small writing that came in the package and got both audio and video going. You need to change the audio settings from within System Preferences on your Mac to select your TV as the audio output.
My concern is the data latency - do you experience a delay between moving your mouse on the MBPro and the TV displaying the movement? It is only a fraction of a second, but certainly enough to be annoying, especially in a cable as expensive as the iWire.
