No HTML nor Javascript in wiki and forums...

Hello,
Particularly in BSP forums, I am not able to post messages that contain HTML and/or Javascript. I have got a security error I don't have with normal posts...
It seems that the HTML and Javascript code parts are somehow interpreted, which results in an error. For example, one can write:
document.getElementById(<id of button>).click();
which is an invalid Javascript statement, but the same sentence with <id of button> replaced by a real Javascript character string raises an error...
I also tried in the Wiki, but the same error occurs.
Is there any way this can be avoided? Sometimes code samples are clearer than long explanations...
Thanks and regards,
Tanguy

  • Status of Wiki and Forum updates/migration/changes

    Hey all,
    I've spent about two hours e-mailing and PMing various people interested in helping out with various wiki and forum tasks. This thread is an announcement of the current status, with the intent of getting everyone up to date. Its also an invitation to people working independently on things to get in touch with me ([email protected]), because I've found there's some duplicate labour going on out there. Please if you respond to this thread, keep on topic and be serious. Most of the current set up is about technical details; if you're not interested in these, don't post. Suggestions from interested observers can go in other threads (there's a lot to choose from!), I want actual feedback from people that are involved or willing to be involved with this project.
    First, it looks like sometime in the future, we will be migrating the forums to punbb. The details haven't been hashed out yet, but Romashka and cactus have both been working on testing the migration process. Migration seems to be relatively simple, but there are a lot of small details to be worked out. I don't have any specific timeline, but I'm guessing the new forum won't be ready until sometime next year.
    Second, we may be migrating to dokuwiki sometime in the future. I'm not sure when, but it probably won't be until after the forum migration or at the same time. Regardless of whether or not we migrate from mediawiki to dokuwiki, we are planning on integrating the wiki and forum authentication mechanism, so your account on one will also work on the other. (In the long run, I'm praying we can get organized enough to also integrate AUR and flyspray, but that's a vision not even open for discussion yet!).
    Third, we are currently working on cleaning up the current mediawiki. Romashka is working on a new style and template to make the current installation more aesthetically tolerable. Foxbunny is working on the actual wiki texts, category, and language structure. Tardo has some kind of hack to deal with the multi-language issue; I'm not sure if that will be implemented, as I have no information yet on how difficult it is. Someone (possibly me) will also have to update the mediawiki installation from 1.5.whatever to 1.8.latest.
    Chronologically, the cleanup of the current wiki will occur first, in the next few weeks, hopefully. Once we have an idea of how pretty and how organized we can make the existing installation, we will make the final decision on a dokuwiki migration. The integration of punbb and dokuwiki|mediawiki has to happen at about the same time, so the migration will not happen until after the forum migration.
    We've have been considering setting up a mailing list or private forum for discussion of these topics, to restrict discussion to those people who are actually interested in helping out. Because I don't really like the elitist nature of such a move, I'm making this forum the place for open discussion on this topic for now.
    Thanks,

  • Starting point; besides Wiki and Forum.

    Ok so I'm ready to jump head first into linux, ArchLinux will be my first distrubution. I consider myself knowledgeable when it comes to computers, but Linux will be somewhat challenging I admit. My main motivation for learning Linux, is I want to be able to buy a VPN and run my site off it, which means I have to be able to manage every aspect of my VPN from shell (I think that is the term).
    So I was wondering if you guys could help me resource wise as to how I would learn Linux. First of all, is Linux also Unix?
    If so, does this book look like a good resource? http://www.amazon.com/Sams-Teach-Yourse … 672328143/
    I'm looking for a good solid resource on Linux in general. Usually when I learn anything, I grab a strong resource to start with (a book or a video), and then pick up the rest of my knowledge from forums/wiki's/internet/etc. So if you guys could help me with a strong reference, that would be great.
    I already know a good chunk of Vim, if that helps (but not nearly enough, but I can pick that up just looking at documentation). I also use Mac OS X so I do use a good chunk of commands found in Linux (cd, ls, that's it)

    It's not quite accurate to say linux is the same as unix, but knowledge of one tends to transfer pretty closely to another. If you're comfortable using a terminal running your mac you should have a decent start. I haven't seen that book you posted, but as an alternative O'Reilly books tend to be pretty good. I have Linux in a Nutshell which I flipped through quite a bit when I started out.
    Another good resource is  the linux documentation project
    If a main motivation is to be able to run things remotely over the network I'd say priorities would be to become comfortable with bash (the default shell for most linux distros) and editing files from a cli text editor. Knowing terminal commands for your mac and vim are good starts for that.

  • Thank You Arch Wiki And Forums!

    In under an hour, I had a working Arch system up and running, along side of my main Kubuntu and windows installations.  I consider my linux skills to be very novice, and I did this with no problems and I understood the entire processs.  I want to formally thank you all for the guides and information herer that have helped me do this flawlessly.  Now comes the fun part of configuring and building my system!  One more Kubuntu user on the way out!

    Oh well, who cares. Welcome, everyone! (And welcome, Peasantoid )
    When a new user posts to say thank you instead of "Arch is run by retarded monkeys", it's nice to have it's own thread.
    You're right, of course.

  • Passing parameters to Flash from HTML or JavaScript

    Hi. How do I pass paramaters to a Flash movie without using
    the "../name.swf?param=value" syntax. I have a Flash menu that
    jumps to a certain keyframe depending on the value specified inline
    with the .swf address, which corresponds to the page being viewed.
    The only problem is that, when another page is loaded, the menu
    flickers and reloads because it's not cached: the browser thinks
    it's another file when in fact it's just a different address
    telling it where to go in the movie to update the menu for the
    current page.
    Any ideas how to do this with either HTML or JavaScript? Help
    and suggestions are truly appreciated!

    The other method for doing this is using the Flashvars param.
    You can read about it in the LiveDocs here:
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flash/8/main/00001206.html
    Don't know if it will solve your problem, but it is the other
    of the two main ways of passing in variables.
    Good luck!

  • Importing HTML with Javascript

    Hi folks,
    I have multiple (but simple) HTML forms that need to be imported as they are. Basically, I want to avoid the work of editing each button's Javascript manually in Acrobat, so I have the form ready in HTML with some JavaScript. Each form button has an onClick event calling the function below. The form works well in a browser, but, unfortunately, when I try to import it, the Javascript embedded in the page header disappears and the buttons do not work as programmed.
    Is there anyway to import the HTML *WITH* the Javascript?
    Here is the embedded Javascript code (pretty simple):
    <head>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function DisplayCost(){
    var numPass = 0;
    var numTIDS = 0;
    var numExp = 0;
    var amtPass = 0;
    var amtTIDS = 0;
    var amtExp = 0;
    var amtTotal = 0;
    for(j=1; j <= 4; j++)
    tester = document.batch.elements["a" + j];
    exp_tester = document.batch.elements["b" + j];
    for( i = 0; i < tester.length; i++ ){
      if( tester[i].checked == true ){
    //   alert(tester[i].value)
       if(tester[i].value == "35") { numPass += 1; amtPass += parseInt(tester[i].value);
                if (exp_tester.checked == true) { numExp += 1; amtExp += parseInt(exp_tester.value);}}
       if(tester[i].value == "55") { numTIDS += 1; amtTIDS += parseInt(tester[i].value);
    if (exp_tester.checked == true) { numExp += 1; amtExp += parseInt(exp_tester.value);}}
       if(tester[i].value == "0") {exp_tester.checked=false}
    if(document.getElementByName('numPass') != null) { document.getElementByName('numPass').value = numPass;
           document.getElementByName('amtPass').value = amtPass; }
    if(document.getElementByName('numTIDS') != null) { document.getElementByName('numTIDS').value = numTIDS;
           document.getElementByName('amtTIDS').value = amtTIDS;}
    document.getElementByName('numExp').value = numExp;
    document.getElementByName('amtExp').value = amtExp;
    document.getElementByName('amtTotal').value = amtPass + amtTIDS + amtExp;
    </script>
    </head>
    Any help wuld be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    CodeChaser

    As it has already been said, there are fundamental differences between HTML "documents" and PDF documents. This also applies to JavaScript. Acrobat JavaScript and web browser JavaScript have things in common, and that is called the "Core" (get Flanagan's JavaScript, the Definitve Guide, published by O'Reilly, and you will see very clearly what objects etc. are relevant, and what not. Also, the document object model in PDF and in HTML are fundamentally different. And the field events are fundamentally different as well (as there is no onClick event in PDF, but mouseUp is used for clicking.
    What you can do, if you develop both, HTML forms and PDF forms, is to separate everything user interface-related from the raw (core) functions. The core functions can be used in either place, if their arguments are neutral, and you define them accordingly in your respective documents.
    You also can create your HTML form, and then get it into Acrobat, using WebCapture. The fields will be created, as well as labels etc. You will nevertheless rename your fields, in order to make them usable. Adding JavaScript to the appropriate events will be rather simple and straightforward.
    It would really be worthwile to have a closer look at the Acrobat JavaScript documentation (which is part of the Acrobat (X) SDK, downloadable from the Adobe website.
    For heavy duty application, you might look at a rather high-end forms design tool, OneForm Plus by Amgraf, which does create PDF forms and HTML forms from the same document, and is pretty good when it comes to the look of the forms. It also creates back-end code which is used to process submitted data. It is then also possible to have hybrid workflows when data gets displayed in PDF, and in HTML in the subsequent step and vice versa.
    Hope this can help.

  • Documentation for oracle webcenter wiki and blog server 10.1.3.2.0

    Hi
    Can anyone tell me where I can get the documentation for oracle webcenter wiki and blog server 10.1.3.2.0. I am specifically interested in this version and not the latest version Oracle® WebCenter Wiki and Blog Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.4.0) because I have heard the older version provided out of the box portlets for creation of blogs.
    Since we want blogs very fast, I want documentation of this older version.
    Can anyone point them out to me as soon as possible please

    You can find the demo portlets here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/owcs_10132_demos.html#wiki_blog_disc_samples
    I do not believe there were any portlets provided with the earlier release.
    Anyway what i think is it should not take you more than a few hours to integrate blogging functionality if you are using the Connection & Task flows provided by WebCenter.

  • Information on the wiki and blog functionnality into Portal NW2004s

    Hello everybody,
    i have done some research on the portal but i didn't find any good information on the wiki or the blog functionnality for the portal. I have installed EP NW2004s and i want to implement these possibility on it.
    So can you help to find how i can do that.
    - Does SAP have already developped a solution for the wiki and the blog for the portal and then where can i find it if it's the case?
    - If no solution are developped by SAP, what kind of software can i use to add it to my portal. I heard somme possibility on the forum like Twiki or JSPWiki but i don't know both.
    Please help me?
    Thanks

    Hi Jerome,
    SAP is stearing towards something that they call "Corporate Workspace" or st like that, where they will include all those nice features.
    So far, they are not available as I know.
    If you want to import a custom wiki, try JSPWIki. They have a ProviderAPI that capsulates the Wiki from the persistance, so it should be easy to build a KM Provider that matches the Repository-API.
    I wont go with TWIKI, since though possible, you will mix PERL and Java on the NW.

    I am experiencing the exact same conditions.  Looking at the access.log on WLS shows -
         "GET /WCWikiBlog/portlet/WCWikis/mode/ HTTP/1.1 500 1935".
    The line in the stack trace -
         "at com.plumtree.portlet.servlet.BaseServlet.getPortletMode(BaseServlet.java:173)"
    suggests that there should be an additional path descriptor specified as "edit/view/help" appended to the GET string.
    One of the gatewayed URL's that may correspond to the GET string above shows -
         "/WCWikiBlog/pt_action?javax.portlet.PT_PORTLET_NAME_KEY=WCWikis&javax.portlet.mode=view&wiki_page=Documentation"
    This appears to specify the portlet mode quite plainly.  And, I can't request the pt_action directly because it complains about not being gatewayed.  Also, pt_action maps to a plumtree ActionServlet, so I can't see the code.  Is there a parameter "name" that is incorrect?
    We are using ALUI 6.5 MP1.  Any possible compatibility issues?

  • JSON from HTML embed Javascript to AS

    Hi,
    I know how to get JSON working if loading from external file
    by using LoadVars.
    But i don't know how to get JSON from the HTML embed
    Javascript and get to work in flash?
    I have tried different ways and search at google about
    related cases but nothing found yet.
    Can somebody help me?
    that's the code that i have used:

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    Well, as near as I can tell the "do javascript" will in no way, shape or form pass info back out to Applescript from Bridge, and I need to grab the long user name from system info there.
    To be honest, I was just trying to do a nice elegant dialog box with Bridge because Illustrator CS2 didn't know Script UI and I thought since everyone has CS3 Bridge on their machines already... But I've settled for 3 Applescript dialogs instead, so the fight is over.
    1.5 days tinkering with JS. 1.5 hours recoding in AS. Whee...
