No internet access even though connected!?

I have a new iMac 17" Intel (new to Mac's as well) but I can't connect to the internet.
My adsl provider is Tiscali and they use dynamic IP address which I believe makes things trickier. I've got a D-link DSL-300t router to connect via Ethernet.
After much head banging I think I have the router configured correctly. I plug in a web page and it goes part way there( eg. in google the search line comes us occasionally but the rest of the page doesn't load.)
The ADSL light on the router blinks nearly all the time although occasionally it stays solid.
Is this a line problem or is there an issue with the router or the Mac.
Any ideas would be greatfully recieved

the dynamic or 'server assigned' ip is not a problem
some people have found that the dns server addresses ( you entered these in the router setup?) must also be entered in system preferences-network-ethernet-tcp/ip- DNS servers ( even though it says optional)
is there a 'test connection' facility in your router setup? - if so, use this & report any errors that this shows.

Try rebooting the ipad by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.

Internet stops working even though connected?

So I've been having this problem for about a week or so now...my internet will be fine and connected and then suddenly it stops working even though it still says it's connected to the network. Then I just turn my airport off and then back on and it works again. It only happens on my computer, all the other computers/laptops in the house are working fine...any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it???

Behind the router you access the internet through Local Ares Connections, So Internet gateway is not needed to go online. About access computers through LAN make sure you have enabled File and Printer Sharing and Setup the computer names and Gateway properly.

Windows 7 desktop and laptop browsers stopped working even though connected to internet

I have Fios connection for more that a year and I have ActionTec router. Yesterday 2 of windows 7 devices stopped working on the browsers . None of the browsers IE, Chrome, Firefox work on these machines.
I know the internet is connected as I can see ip addresses using ipconfig and use ftp to remote machines. I also see downloads for autoupdates are working as network panels show downloads going on.
I have Kaspersky and it shows no virs activity.
On network panel it shows devices are connected to the router. I also tried wired connection but browsers on win 7 are not working.
I have tried winsock reset, ipconfig /renew and netip reset as some of users have sggested. I have also tried sing 8.8.8.8 with 8.8.4.4 but still same issue.

I'd go into internet options and under connections tab and check if a proxy was added.
commonplace now a days for malware and virus's to add proxy settings that divert your traffic, and unintended consequence is that you lose your connection when they are done siphoning whatever it was they were trying to get.
With a proxy server configured, you will still be able to ping outbound, and tcp udb functions will work fine like downloads and ftp, and torrents, but anything that requires a domain may get invalid responses when their server goes offline.

JDBC messages processed even though connection was down

We have an XI to JDBC flow.
A couple of days ago the database to which the JDBC connection goes was down, but all messages that the system tried to send to this database appear as processed in SXMB_MONI. Only the acknowledgement contains following error:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:as400://192.168.197.10:446/WMSLIB': SQLException: The application requester cannot establish the connection. (connect timed out)
This is very annoying since we can't reprocess the messages with status "processed", even though they are not processed at all.
Any ideas?

Above error message comes when your JDBC channel trying to connect to Data base,but connection not established ,because Connection was down.
in this case none of the messages will be processed.

Mac G5 Airport "NO internet Access" but is connected to WRT54G network

I have read thru prior threads and nothing has worked. I have connected to the internet once. I have upgraded the firmware to the wrt54. I have tried both PPPoe and DCHP to connect as well as using the built in ethernet. Why will it connect to the network but have no internet access?
The network status on my G5 says "Airport connected and You have internet access through Airport. But when I try through Safari, the screen comes up "no internet connection". Currently my wrt54 is 192.168.2.1 and I have set the security to allow access to the router. Can someone layout what my mac and router settings should be, If they are working for them? After trying somemany different things, I worry that I am not trying the right sequence of settings anymore. Help!

I have upgraded my router firmware to the latest, at least what is available here at linksys. The airport does retrieve the address from the router, but no go. Should it be set to PPPoe or not? If it isn't. it doesn't look for the host. When its off, the network status says connected to the linksys network, internet access through Airport, but still no Safari. I don't understand, if it is connected to the network, what is preventing it from connecting to the internet, which is available on the router? My DHCP server is enabled, I have changed the address to 192.168.2.1, 50 clients, but there are no DNS static address'. Should I input some DNS Address? My router is connected to a DSL modem and hardwired to a PC through the net connection. This is how I access the router. Whoops gotta get to work...........

WRT54G - no internet via wireless, though connection is established

Hello, I have run out of ideas for getting my wireless to work and I need help.
I am trying to setup my WRT54G v2 router to transmit my Verizon ADSL internet connection and for my laptop to have wireless internet.
Currently, the internet works if I connect straight to the Verizon (Westell) modem to my laptop. Internet also works when I connect from the Verizon (Westell) modem to the WRT54G and connect to the laptop with a CABLE.
However, If I unlpug the direct internet connection to my laptop, and try to surf the net wirelessly then my laptop will find the wireless network, and my laptop will be connected to the wireless connection on the WRT54G, however, it will not pull up any web pages... seemingly, the router and laptop have established a connection but no information is going between them that's of use to me...
I have updated the firmware and reset the modem. I've switched the LAN IP address to 192.168.2.1. Does anyone know why my wireless connection isn't working? How do I get it so that I can get on the internet with my laptop on a wireless connection, and not just the hard line? I really am at a loss, please help. THANK YOU!!!

Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
- Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If you are getting Ip - 192.168.1.X ...change the LAN Ip to 192.168.2.1 ....Power cycle for 3-4 minutes ...
Try going online
If still not working ...use Internet Connection type as PPPOE .... Use Username & Password provided by Service Provider ....
Click save settings....
Look for WAN IP address again under status page ....

Error: synced with another library even though connected to same computer

Hi Guys,
Annoying problem that has just happened since upgrade to i-tunes 7.x.
Intermittently my shuffle looses its affinity to my i-tunes library, i-tunes is now asking me to erase and sync even though my shuffle has not been sleeping around with other USB ports.
this is now the 2nd time this has happened and I am not looking forward to setting up all my songs again.
Been in IT for years but this is my first time with trying to enjoy some IT.

Question: I am able to access internet on domain controller cum server 2008. But on client computer display yellow symbol on lan icon and no internet access ping win2k8 successful.
ping win2k8.mhpd.com successful. ping 8.8.8.8 or ping google.com request time out.

Hi haresh,
First, the network is overlapped on your computer.
Second, AD DS is not recommended to be installed on a multihomed computer.
Both of these will cause conmunication issues.
You may need to re-plan your network.

No Internet Even Though Connected to Home WiFi

I have a new 3GS iPhone and can connect to my wireless network at home, but get no internet on Safari on the iPhone. My Linksys wireless router shows the iPhone's ip address, all the settings on the iPhone seem correct. All other wireless devices can connect and use the internet. I have tried everything, resetting the router, forgetting the network on the iPhone and then re-setting it. Does anyone have an ideas? Again, I "get" the wireless icon on my homescreen, the home network is found and "checked" on the iPhone, but no connectivity to websites. Please help!>!>!>!>

The easiest way to fix your app problems is to use your computer and iTunes. Download the updated apps and sync. All fixed. Do that first and then we will work on your Wifi problem.
