No Nokia support for my E7 in Paraguay

The microUSB port of my E7 was failing a long time. Now that it got worst I send it to repair.
They will charge me US$ 113 to repair it. They also will replace the camera cover that fell before.
What shocked me was the disclaimer: They will only give 90% of certainty that the phone will work after they try to fix it. There is 10% of probability that the phone wont start again and in that case they wont charge nothing.
I bought a Nokia from the official reseler in Paraguay because I thought that if I got any problem it could be solved by the tech support. I feel disappointed.
How much Nokia Care charges for fixing the microUSB port when warranty expired in your country?
Do you have a similar disclaimer in your country?
Greetings from Paraguay.
Claudio Bogado Pompa.

Yesterday I went to the service office to get my phone back.
First I waited 15 minutes to receive my phone. I was shocked when they bring me my phone with the back cover black since my E7 is aluminum. They told me they could not found a aluminum cover. I asked to put back the old back cover because is simply horrible the combination.
Do Nokia teach its resellers to ask the customer before do such a thing?
They told me to wait 25 minutes to get my phone back.
After 1 and a half hours later they bring me the phone. I was going to pay the repair when I realized that the flash led was missing. That really got into my nerves.
They ask me to wait again for that to be fixed.
With nearly 2 hours waiting I left very angry.
It will be nice that Nokia improve the training of resellers on how to repair its products and also keep a stock of parts.
Greetings from Paraguay.

  • Nokia support for MONOSPACE font

    Nokia support for MONOSPACE font
    hi,
Perhaps Im going mad but my Nokia 60series emulator and 7650 device doesnt seem to support a font with face: MONOSPACE.
setting a font to MONOSPACE in the default WTK emulator correctly spaces all characters equally. However when I run my code on a Nokia emulator or device, the spaces of characters are unequal and their widths remain unchanged from the SYSTEM face settings.
If anyone can help with a solution or explanation, pleeezzzz
    thanks in advance,
    Larry

Not every device has every type of font. When you ask for a specific font, and the font doesn't exist then the system will find the best match for it.
The only way to be sure you have a monospace font on every device is that you include that font yourself, and draw your own characters using drawImage() with that font.

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.
    http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9803/nokiapcsyncsd3.jpg
I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.

  • No A2DP support for Nokia N80!

I just wonder why Nokia can't add support for A2DP in the new firmware for Nokia N80ie cellphone. =(
I just uppdatet my phone in hope of getting somewhere, but it was pointless.
It would be pretty nice if i could use my N80 as a real media centre with my Jabra BT 620s bluetooth headset but no way.
I am just intrested why not, i have read som discussions in this forum and other N phones did get their uppdates with A2DP support . Or am i wrong. Am i doing somethig wrong and cant get this to work?

A2DP and AVRCP does not require additional hardware for bluetooth 1.2 and above. It is based purely on software simulation.
Nokia can support A2DP in nokia n80. but battery could be an issue. Initial prototype of N80 had bluetooth 2 but then it was downgraded to 1.2 !!!

    Dear Nokia Careline,
The "No Return Policy" already be used here. Seem that I have no choice to go for other alternatives. Maybe I have to file the case to our local authority i.e. Tribunal Court Claim to exercise my consumer right here.
Perhaps, further blogs at Nokia discussion column, facebook, twitter might help to let others understand more about so-called Nokia Careline entertain their loyal customer.
If you insist your stand there, then I am always ready to go for my alternatives.
I won't let go unless you could satisfy me.

    Dear Mr. X,
    We appreciate your prompt reply.
We will be noting for concern as a feedback. However, please be informed Mr. Tan that Nokia has noted in the box regarding the said case.
The outage experienced by our sub-supplier was quite unexpected. Typically, the lead time for components such as this one is fairly long, and one cannot react to sudden changes at short notice. We value our relationship with our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and know that our sub-supplier is doing everything in their power to remedy the situation and return to regular supply.
The lack of TV out should not affect any other device functionalities besides that you will not be able to show/transmit pictures or video to external monitor/screen.
As Nokia does not have a replacement policy, we suggest to check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding exchanges.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Dear NOKIA CARELINE,
Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they  buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.
    Regards,

    Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
    Greetings!
In response to your inquiry, please be informed Mr. Tan that due to a component shortage, a limited number of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has been manufactured without the TV-out functionality. It is possible that you have one of these devices. In that case, the sales package should have a sticker on the package and a leaflet inside the package that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Therefore we have labeled the affected sales packages with a sticker and included a leflet that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
The new batch of phones should have the feature back. As this matter is clearly stated in the sales package, it is not possible to return to Nokia. However, you may check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding the return of the unit in exchange for a version that has the TV-out feature. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

  • Indian languages support for Nokia 701

How to read different Indian languages in Nokia 701, egg like Hindi or Malayalam etc. Especially in Social or other multimedia's. Now it comes as boxes. Do we need to download any software application from nokia or third party.

Feature phones like Nokia 2700, C3 00 etc can show all Indian languages including Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, etc even though with no support for typing all languages.
Nokia 701 being a smartphone, when it was released was not supporting even Hindi language, later after software update phone supported Hindi.
It would be better to support all India languages like as feature phones does. It is cool to read news websites in our native language.
Please provide this feature in fp2.

  • With Nokia mfg closing down, anymore support for e...

Am using an N8 and very interested to get the N9 later, but just before purchase, read news about the last mfg closing down. Will there be anymore support for Nokia phones, and how long will the support last? Or, should we start switching to other brands?

Note also that the support provided by Nokia for a particular phonemodel does not require that there is a factory still manufacturing that model. In other words, spare parts can be provided, as well as software updates and support, without factories churning out new units.
And while Nokia has closed a couple of factories, the company still has serveral that are operational all over the world, and for which no plans for closing has been announced.

  • Flash lite 2.x support for nokia n80?

I downloaded and installed the Flash Lite 2.1 standalone
player for the Nokia N80 from this page:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flashlite2%5F1%5Fsymbian%5Fdownload
I am able to run Flash Lite 1.1 SWFs fine but get
"installation not supported" for 2.x SIS files and "unable to open.
file corrupted" messages for 2.x SWFs. These files run fine on my
    Nokia 6682 handset.
Is 2.0 or 2.1 supported for the N80? I noticed that it
doesn't appear to be through the Adobe Device Central CS3 but the
Flash Lite Player download page implies that it is.
    Thanks.

Just tried installing Flash Lite 2.1 Standalone Player S60
V2.0 FP2 and S60 V2.0 FP3 and was not allowed to install either on
the handset so I think the one I downloaded and installed is
correct. Flash Lite Player 2 is not installed on this phone.
Any other possible reason why the Flash Lite apps won't run?
Does the phone need a firmware or other update? Also, I am by
sending the SWFs via bluetooth as SMS messages--that shouldn't
matter, should it? Or do I need to go the long route by
    transferring it via usb?

  • Continued support for Nokia?

Im in the market for a new phone and while i was browsing some stores i notcied that for example the Nokia 720 had "discontinued" as warehouse-status.
What does this imply? That if i buy one that the support will drop within weeks? I know that Nokia sold their phone-part of the company to Microsoft so i guess this is an effect of that?
Really turns me off from buying a nokia phone since it was the one i was most interested in. Does anyone know more about this?

Support for the 720 has not been discontinued and it's still on sale in many countries so it's probably just the stores in your country that are stopping selling it.
The 720 runs Windows Phone 8 and it will continue to get new software updates along with all other WP8 devices. It will also have a full valid warranty if bought from a reputable retailer.
Also this is not at all connected to Microsofts planned purchase of Nokia's devices devision. Even if that goes through support for existing models will continue and all warranties will be honoured.

It is more likley they're saying which phones are getting N-Gage support, rather then saying which ones are not. That leaves us wondering forever
A full list of future planned N-Gage support for all phones would be nice, rather then the "coming soon" ones. Just to make sure if it will ever happen to E71 (and other models ofc).

Are you talking about purchasing full-length movies for download?  Here's one site: Amazon.com - you have to download their PC software downloader/player first, and then transfer movies to your 5800.  To get started, go to their download page for Video on demand.
Buy or find free movies, download using the Unbox Video Player, and then transfer to your 5800 XpressMusic.  For help on transferring videos, go here.
BTW, this information is from the promotion that I received when I purchased my 5800 earlier this year - there was an offer for US$50  in free movie downloads with purchase.

  • My Nokia 6681 is not supporting for PC Suite SMS/M...

How can I access my "Nokia 6681" PC Suite support for SMS / MMS. Totally dissapoint in this regards. Please help. Raaj. Bangalore.

After researching this phone on the website, discussions with customer service, a call to the flagship store, and even trying a bootleg (LG) micro cable with no success, I relented and went to the flagship store in NYC to purchase the $30.00 CA-101.  Fortunately the sales assoc. attempted to connect a cable to my phone to confirm that it would work. It did not. Ironically, the results were similar to the results I got with the LG cable, it would charge but it wouldn't communicate.
Fit to be tied, I called the Nokia support line from the store.  After at least 30 minutes I was told that the PC Suite version available on the Nokia website is not compatible with the 1606 and that a version that is compatible is forthcoming but they don't yet have a release date.
I'm still in shock in that page 18 of the user guide that (a) comes with the phone and (b) is also on the Nokia website, specifically says that "You can transfer data between your device and a compatible PC by using a CA-101 USB data cable."
    It couldn't be any clearer.
How does Nokia reconcile sending the phone to market if one of the "Main features" isn't available?

  • A2DP Support for Nokia ASHA

I am so disappointed by the recent Nokia ASHA phones with keypads (non-touchscreens). I could not believe that none of these phones supported A2dp, and what's baffling is that most websites and blog sites would say that these phones would have A2DP support, but it really does not have. I have a Philips SHB 9100 bluetooth stereo headset, and it's disappointing that I wasted money in buying these two phones below:
    1. I bought Nokia 112. It's a great small classic phone that is not fancy looking. It has bluetooth 2.1, edge, and dual sim. But even though it has bluetooth, it doesn't support A2dp. I sold Nokia 112 for 40% less it's original price, even though I bought it on the same day.
    2. . I then bought NOKIA ASHA 206, hoping that this will have A2dp, but it doesn't have! I'm surprised. So I sold it too.
    3. I decided to check on Nokia Asha 202 before buying it, but I'm surprised it also doesn't have A2dp.
Are there still basic phones out there that support A2dp? I have a Nokia Xpress Music 5320, it's small and it has A2dp!

    The Nokia 301 supports A2DP 1.2
