check the ps -ef | grep pmon
then you need to set up enviornment and . oraenv on unix and set oracle_sid on windows and then try to sqlplus

  • Why are there two ns-httpd processes running for one instance of iws 6

    Hi all,
    I'm used to iWS 4.x where there's only one watchdog and one ns-httpd process running for any given install of iWS. Now in iWS 6.x I noticed there are two processes for the admin server and two processes for the actual single web server instance, along with two watchdogs.
    What are the extra web server instances doing? I noticed that there is a 'parent' relationship with the pid's, so I guess one is spawning the other, but why? If it's to have persistent state over restart, isn't that what uxwdog is for?
    Thanks in advance,

  • LMS 3.2 discovery process runs for ever

    Dear friends,
    I am having a problem with discovery on Ciscoworks LMS 3.2. The discovery process runs eternally and does not discover any devices.
    Here are the individual device versions:
    Name   Version   Size   Status   Expiration Date
    1. CM 5.2 300 Purchased Never
    2. DFM 3.2 300 Purchased Never
    3. HUM 1.0 100 Evaluation Sun Jul 26 12:18:01 GMT+03:00 2009
    4. IPM 4.2 300 Purchased Never
    5. RME 4.3 300 Purchased Never
    6. VNM 1.0 Unlimited Purchased Never
    Please find enclosed the csdiscovery.log which indicates the following error
    1000 [main] DEBUG com.cisco.nm.csdiscovery.CSDiscoveryManager  - FATAL: Exception occured in the start discovery Exception occured during start of discovery in CS.
    Reason : failed to initialize DiscoveryController
    I am also enclosing the CSDiscovery-config.xml under the config directory and the specific job as well.
    ngdiscovery.log shows 0 bytes. I am not sure if it is to be populated only when we initiate some debugging?
    Thanks a lot
    Gautam

    It seems you're missing some critical files.  Under NMSROOT/conf/csdiscovery, you should have the following zip files:
    SharedDiscoveryAUS.zipSharedDiscoveryCluster.zipSharedDiscoveryGeneral.zipSharedDiscoveryIGX.zip
    The casusers group should have full control on all four files.  If these files really are missing, you will need to contact TAC to get new ones, or you will need to reinstall Common Services.

  • How to find the process running for a specific cube on WINDOWS?

    Hi,
    how do we find the process of a cube and kill it if the server is a win 2003 server...
    when i go to the task manaer and search I only see then as esssvr ? but how do I match them to the specif cubes??
    in UNIX we can see them clearly as they have the cube name along with the pid and evertything else...
    please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    you actually have to go into the Essbase server log. When the application starts its pid is put in the log. I don't remember the mesage number, but it's in the log somewhere around a message started. Make sure you get the last started pid for an application. since the log can be for a long period, the application could have started multiple times

    Hi All,
    I installed CE 7.2 from SDN. But when i start the server, it displays "Some processes running" for server1 in MMC . When i access the server through internet explorer, i get ICM running but no server connected error.
    I installed the server on WIndows XP. I could not any more errors apart from some messages in MMC about "OS Collector not running"..
    Any ideas?

    Hi Arul,
    Are you able to resolve the issue and work with CE7.2 succesfully?Share the solution

  • Firefox stops playing sound, closing Firefox leaves straggling processes running, kill those and sound returns, how to fix?

    Firefox 3.6.8 just now on Ubuntu 9.10, but happens on 8.04-10.04 Ubuntu with related older Firefox versions.
    Problem is probably related to Youtube/Flash problems, but something gets stuck in Firefox. I can close the main instance of Firefox, but looking in 'top' I can still find processes running for Firefox (sometimes if I try to restart Firefox I will get a note that Firefox is already running). If I kill those 'runaway processes' then restart Firefox I have Youtube/etc sound back.
    When this happens all programs on the computer cannot produce sound. When processes killed then sound works all around.

    I was able to fix this problem on my computer in Windows 7. Try going to start/control panel/programs and then uninstall the flash plugin -
    then start browser again go to a flash video and when prompted install plugin again.
    This worked well for me let me know how everyone else makes out.

    I am trying to upgrade EPM 8.9(8.49.23) to EPM 9.1 (8.53.08). During dataconversion step the AE process finished succssfully in few seconds. When i see the log it says "There are no conversions to run for upgrade path PF89 (18028,10003)". Please let me know why it didnt do any conversion. Am i missing something?

    yes, that app engine didnt inserted any rows. So now when i tried to drill down i found that there was no data in the "new demo" database on table UPG_DATACONV. That is the reason for all this.
    When i applied required for upgrade patch in demo it said couple of patch already exists so those update i skipped. Now when i check upd877654 has a step which imports the data in this table. my change assistant told that the update is already available in my demo so i skipped. Now i am not sure what to do.
    I tried reimporting the data and running the analyzer again. But worried that there can be any issues due to this.

  • How to kill Forms Runaway Process using 95% CPU and running for 2 hours.

    We had a situation at E-Business Suite customer (using Oracle VM server) where some of Form processes were not being cleared by form timeout settings automatically.
    Also when user exits the form session from front end, the linux form process (PID) and DB session did not exit properly, so they got hung.
    They were spiking CPU and memory usage and causing e-business suite to perform slowely and ultimately causing VM host to reboot the production VM guest (running on Linux).
    We could see the form processes (PIDs) using almost 100% cpu with "top" command and running for a long time.
    Also we verified those Form Sessions did not exist in the application itself.
    ie. Using from Grid Control -> OAM-> Site Map -> Monitoring (tab) -> "Form Sessions".
    It means that we could safely kill that form process from Linux using "kill -9 <PID>" command.
    But that required a continuous monitoring and manual DBA intervention as customer is 24x7 customer.
    So, I wrote a shell script to do the following;
    •     Cron job runs every half an hour 7 days a week which calls this shell script.
    •     Shell script runs and tries to find "top two" f60webmx processes (form sessions) using over 95% cpu with 2 minutes interval.
    •     If no process is found or CPU% is less than 95%, it exits and does nothing.
    •     If top process is found, it searches for its DB session using apps login (with hidden apps password file - /home/applmgr/.pwd).
    a.     If DB session is NOT found (which means form process is hung), it kills the process from unix and emails results to <[email protected]>
    b.     If DB session is found, it waits for 2 hours so that form process times automatically via form session timeout setting.
    It also emails the SQL to check the DB session for that form process.
    c.     If DB session is found and it does not timeout after 2 hours,
    it kills the process from unix (which in turn kills the DB session). Output is emailed.
    This are the files required for this;
    1. Cron job which calls the shell script looks like this;
    # Kill form runaway process, using over 95% cpu having no DB session or DB session for > 2hrs
    00,30 * * * * /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh 2>&1
    2. SQL that this script calls is /home/applmgr/frm_runaway.sql and looks like;
    set head off
    set verify off
    set feedback off
    set pagesize 0
    define form_client_PID = &1
    select count(*) from v$session s , v$process p, FND_FORM_SESSIONS_V f where S.AUDSID=f.audsid and p.addr=s.paddr and s.process='&form_client_PID';
    3. Actual shell script is /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh and looks like;
    # Author : Amandeep Singh
    # Description : Kills runaway form processes using more than 95% cpu
    # and Form Session with no DB session or DB session > 2hrs

    If you have the same problem with some other unix and DB processes, the script can be easily modified and used.
    But use this with thorough testing first (by commenting out <kill -9 $PID1> lines.
    Good luck.

    Hi i have 50 infoobjects as part of my aggregates and in that 10 infoobjects have received changes in masterdata.so in my process chain the Attribute change run in running for a long time.can i kill the job and repeat the same.

    Hi,
    I believe this would be your Prod system, so don't just cancel it but look at the job log. If it is still processing then don't kill it and wait for the change run to complete but if you can see that nothing is happening and it is stuck for a long time then you can go ahead and cancel it.
    But please be sure, as these kind of jobs can create problems if you cancel them in the middle of a job.

  • Can't get Firefox to load at all after trying fixes from support web site. Have checked for lock file, processes running, reboot, reinstall. NO JOY.

    I'm running Vista for operating system on an HP laptop that's about 2 years old. I've installed all current updates.
    I've always used Firefox. It started crashing and creating processes but not launching. Went to support and scoped it out -- there was a lock file my profile directory. I deleted it, and Firefox started loading.
    Used it a few times -- closed the app each time on exist as per suggestions on support site info. One time -- back to square one, wouldn't load, just created a process. Reboot, ending process, checking for lock file, reinstalling -- all unsucessful.

    Brian
    Below is from using a SIP build.  It does offer G722, but it's way down on the list so it's never used...
    m=audio 32678 RTP/AVP 0 8 18 102 9 116 101
    a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000
    a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000
    a=rtpmap:18 G729/8000
    a=fmtp:18 annexb=no
    a=rtpmap:102 L16/16000
    a=rtpmap:9 G722/8000
    a=rtpmap:116 iLBC/8000
    a=fmtp:116 mode=20
    a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000
    Taking Sreekanth's suggestion to try a Skinny build, I get the following when I make a call.  It offers codecs in the order I SET THEM AND ONLY THE CODECS I SET!  YAY!
    m=audio 19374 RTP/AVP 9 0 101
    a=rtpmap:9 G722/8000
    a=fmtp:9 bitrate=64
    a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000
    a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000
    Using a Skinny build on the phones also solved other issues.  The phones use G711 when the whole path supports G711 and G722 when the whole path supports G722.  It doesn't always use G722 and rely on transcoding for the call paths that can't use it.  It's fantastic..  The phones also receive the QoS tagging that I set and that seems to result in better audio quality than on the SIP builds, which never did get those settings.  Finally, it even solved a slow Exchange 2013 answer issue I have been experiencing for quite some time.  I practically fell out of my chair when I saw everything that was fixed just by switching...
    Cisco, PLEASE FIX YOUR SIP BUILDS!  It's insane how the SCCP builds work perfectly and the SIP builds don't, especially with how much these phones cost..  I was thinking of possibly acquiring some 9951s, which are SIP only.  I'm a little leery about that at this point.  If they have the same kinds of issues as the SIP builds for the 7975g, there's no SCCP alternative to use..
    Sreekanth
    Thank you for suggesting a Skinny build..  That was about the only thing I didn't try.  I am happy beyond belief that this is working so well now, even though the SIP builds should be just as well developed as the SCCP ones.

  • ABAP process job ( BI_PROCESS_ABAP ) in process chain running for long time

    Dear Experts,
    We have an ABAP process job  BI_PROCESS_ABAP  in a process chain. This job is running for a very long time than previous run time.
    Recently we had an ORACLE database upgrade from 9.2 to 10g.
    From the very next day , we are having this problem.
    And also previously this process-chain was under control of BASIS guys . they were using a tool called CRONACLE to schedule it. At the time of upgrade this tool was crashed and they asked us to schedule it in BW system instead.
    Underlying program is using two custom tables.
    one is having both primary & secondary indexes but the other table is having only primary index.
    I am not sure whether we have secondary indexes on other table prior to upgrade or not.
    Where must be the problem?...
    At the time of upgrade BASIS has re-organized the table space along with database upgrade.
    please help me...
    Regards,
    SRIKANTH

    Please ask yr basis consultant to check the system parms.
    Below i have listed down SAP recommneded system parms .
    abap/heap_area_total 4000000000
    abap/heap_area_dia 2000000000
    abap/heap_area_nondia 2000000000
    Also check in SM37 if any other jobs are running for long time, peventing the your job running.
    Check the SM12 for locks or SM58

    Hi,
    I have a process chain for the master data ( ATTR, TEXT and HIER),I want a Hierarchy/attribute change run like a last process in my chain and actives all the InfoObject and Hierarchy.
    How can I carry out the structural changes for all InfoObject in a process chain?
    Thanks!

    yes but it requests me a variant. then a layout "execute infopackage", then the attr change doesn´t have Object.
    I don´t know what I do?

    If you use process chains, the automatically integrated processes are ignored and have to
    be implemented using the process chain. If you schedule a specific process in a chain,
    you support the automatic insertion of additional, relevant standard processes with the
    consideration of such automatic actions.
    For example, if you have selected the processing types Only PSA and Subsequently in
    Data Targets in the InfoPackage from the tabstrip Processing, and you are using this
    InfoPackage in a process chain, then the further processing into the data target does not
    automatically happen. Instead, it only happens if the process Update PSA is scheduled in
    the respective process chain after the loading process. Thus, the process chain
    maintenance supports the automation in this case. In this way, you generate a process
    variant for updating from the PSA in the chain when inserting the loading process with the
    process types Only PSA and Subsequently in Data Targets automatically into a chain.
    Well i am talking about 30B Version
    Regards,
    Mohan.

    I have Lookout 6.5 running with Windows 7, the process has been running for about 2 months with no problems, but today the Citadel stopped working!
    How could this have happened and what can I do to get it running again?

    Didnt realize there was a response, late getting back to you.
    Save your process files outside of the NI progam directory (you should have external backups already right ).  THey should not be deleted.
    Any customizations to the lookout.ini and lookout.sec file may be lost.
