No return in JS when accessing an applet in loading process

When I try to access a property or a method of an applet which is
not completely loaded by the plug-in, my javascript instruction
never returns. Not even an exception or a null. The CPU is 100% busy
with the netscape.exe for ever. When I close the browser, I get a
Dr. Watson.
Context :
Netscape 6.2, plug-in 1.3.1 or
Netscape 7.0, plug-in 1.4.0
My purpose is to call the applet just after everything is put in place:
the applet is loaded, ready is work and laid out on screen. So I do
the call on the BODY onload event. It's fine with NN4.7 or IE5.5 and
their internal JVM because when the event fires, the applet is ready.
The problem is with the plug-in. I know that the onload event fires
as soon as the HTML is ready, independently from the applet which is
taken in charge by the plug-in. The availability of the applet takes
some time because it comes from a signed Jar from a protected area of
the web server. So you have to walk through two additional steps:
authentify yourself with the server (first popup) and grant session
privileges to the applet code (second popup). During this time, onload
has been executed. I know I have to check if the applet is up and if
not try again later with a setTimeout().
But how to check the readiness of the applet? When I try to read
whatever from it too soon, the code will never return !
To demonstrate the no-return, just put an alert and wait for the applet
to be loaded and fully active. Then you can have a return from it.
Don't forget: because of the user prompts (authentication and grant),
I can't determine a time to delay the check.

I am having a very similar problem in Netscape 6.2 or later. (It never occurs in Internet Explorer) The applet can contain a few or many (in the 1000's) of applet parameters.
I am following the same pattern to determine when the applet is loaded (by referencing a flag that is set to true through the applet), which seems pretty standard. The applet is loaded, and the flag is set, but when I begin to process the parameters, the first parameter that is examined is returned as null, even though it is included as an applet parameter in the HTML file that is generated. FYI the first parameter processed is the last one included in the source file. The worst part about this error is that the error seems random. Sometimes it works; other times it doesn't.
Has anybody ever seen documentation as to how the parameters are loaded into memory, i.e. in what order? Does anybody know the algorithm used by the runtime system to find a parameter when a call to getParameter() is made?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Under Mac OS X 10.4.x, I don't recall having any problems accessing web content in ~/Sites.
After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5.1, Apache returns a 403 status when using a URL in the following form: http://spielzeit.hasental.com/~mcc/weather.
Using the Search function, I found a discussion indicating that the problem was a permissions problem, e.g. other needed execute permissions. I changed the Sites directory permissions from 744 to 755. Still no joy.
The apache2 error_log contains a "client denied by server configuration: /Users/mcc/Sites/" entry.
As this a "standard" feature of Mac OS X that is enabled via System Preferences, I would have assumed that enabling web access under Sharing that Apache server was configured to allow access.
What changes are needed to the conf files to enable user directories?

Found the answer: Another Mac OS X 10.5 upgrade bug. The upgrade script failed to copy /etc/httpd/users/*.conf to /etc/apache2/extras/.
Copying the directory eliminates the server configuration error and allows web content in ~/Sites to be accessed.

I have just upgraded from apex 4.1 to apex 4.2. Everything is fine except for this error that I get when I try to access Instance Setting on the Admin App (localhost/apex/apex_admin)

we are already aware of that problem, although it is not yet present on our Known Issues webpage. The reason for this error is that the new installation overwrites an instance-wide encryption key. Values in the instance preferences that were encrypted with the old value (the SMTP password and the wallet password) are invalid after the upgrade and decryption causes this error. As a work around, you can use the apex_instance_admin package to overwrite the invalid passwords.
The following code shows how decryption throws ORA-28817:

HFM: How to restrict user to generate reports when there is a data load process going on?

Hi Experts,
I want to get some idea on how we can restrict one user of generating report when another user is loading the data for the same entity, assuming both the users were at different location and there is no communication between them.
i am dealing same kind of problem in HFM. we have many users created, some users will be loading the data using FDMEE while some users will be generating the reports. the problem arises when one user is loading the data for a particular entity and at the same time another generates the report for the same entity. this shows wrong data in the reports as the data's were not updated.
please suggest how we can come out of this problem.

I thought for a while that I could solve the problem creating a parameter in the main report and casting the first argument of my subreportprocesssing event handler to LocalReport and setting the parameter using the SetParameters method of the LocalReport
object indicating when there was data to show or not. But this doesn't worked , the parameter value remains the same when I use it in expressions to change the visibility property of my subreports.

I'd like to know what happens when a signed applet is loaded in a page with the Java Plug-in. What methods are called, in which order, what happens when the user denies the applet, etc.

Display of certificate when accessing a signed applet

I have a signed applet which obviously displays a Certificate whenever it is Accessed.Now i would like the certificate to be displayed only once ie. ONLY when the applet is accessed for the first time and the user accepts(trusts) the certificate.The next time the user access the applet i do
not want the certificate to be displayed again as he has already accepted (trusted)the certificate.
is there a way to do this?

i have done a system copy from production server into quality server. quality was scrapped and freshly installed with SAP then used the DB flush method to carry out the system copy. i had to change the DBS_ORA_SCHEMA in environment variables to SAP<SOURCE SID> from SAPSR3. the sap version is ECC6.0,DB is ORACLE10.2 on WIN NT.

SP 2010 - Getting "An unexpected error has occurred. " message when accessing Sharepoint site after windows update - Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi,
I am new to SP 2010. I have installed Share point 2010 server (trial version) on my Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop by following the below link.

Everything went fine and was able to see the new sharepoint site after completing configuration wizard. SP2010 Central Admin also worked fine.
However, after windows update, sharepoint site is not working. I was able to see the site working for more than a day before windows update. SP2010 Central Admin is still working. Executed "PSCONFIG" after
update but still no good.
I saw a warning "The Security Token Service is not available" in Central Admin and did some research to fix the issue but nothing worked.

Internal error when accessing a table -

Hi,
The program which is running as background was running for last 1 year, last two days the RFC call in the program is dumping.
In DUMP its showing Internal error when accessing a table
Error : DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
I checed the size of the table its quite huge for the application.
So there is no issue with table.
Please advise what causes these sort of error.
System is ECC 6.0
With SQL server 8.0

Missing version field in response from server when accessing resource

I have a problem to use the version option of the webstart. All files are included into a war file (created with jar cvf xx.war *). This file is in the webapps folder of the Tomcat 5. The jar files from the dev. kit (jnlp-servlet.jar, jaxp.jar, parser.jar are in the WEB-INF/lib folder).
Every time I get the same message:

The log file (jnlpdownloadservlet.log) would show the calls for the jar files if the servlet is called for the jar files (did you correct the url mapping ?). Here are a few lines from a log file

I put my problems down to my application server (Orion) as other people seem to have this working. The deployment in Orion keeps the original timestamps of the jars, so I explicitly set the timestamps in my build so that the unchanged jars do not have to be downloaded all the time. This is not really a good solution, so maybe someone else can give further advice.

RMI protocol over JRMP transport error when accessing Discoverer Plus

Hi,
I just upgraded my Discoverer to 9.0.2.54.01. I can successfully access my Discoverer Viewer Workbooks but not my Discoverer Plus. When I try to access Plus, Applet will be started, and then it will prompt the RMI protocol error:
Attempt 1. RMI protocol over JRMP transport: Connection refused to host: 127.0.0.1; nested exception is:*
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect*
Attempt 2. RMI protocol over http transport : Unable to attach to existing session.*
I used browsers Mozilla3.0.5 and IE7.

Hi Andy
It could be a Java incompatibility issue. On one of your client machines try removing Java altogether and then reconnecting to Discoverer Plus. The server should send down a new, clean version of the Java.

To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.
