No row count was produced problem

Hi i am using the SQL Server 7 and have the following problem
I am running the following query in SQL server console :
SELECT Price FROM tblPrices WHERE ItemID = 1 AND StartDate =
(SELECT MAX(StartDate) FROM tblPrices WHERE ItemID = 1)
and it gives me a correct result.
When i am using the following code:
private Connection dbCon;
private ResultSet rs;
private Statement s;
s=dbCon.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
rs=s.executeQuery(sql);
i am getting the error "No row count was produced "
i am using jdbs:odbc driver
What is wrong?
Thanks

The error "No row count was produced" normally happens when you run a 'select' query by using
stmt.executeUpdate(sql);
The code you have shown doesn't show that, so it looks like you either have discovered a bug no one else has found or you aren't showing us the statement which is producing the error.

  • "no row count was produced" error using mqsl commands through Access

    "no row count was produced" error using mqsl commands through Microsoft Access. This sql statement works when I use in in the Access program but it does not work when I try and put it through Access using my Java program. Here is the block of code that I have that does the search.
    public static Game searchRecord(String search) throws SQLException{
    String query = "SELECT* " + "FROM gamefields WHERE SKU = '" + search + "' ORDER BY SKU ASC";
    Game lastGame = new Game(gamefields.getString(1),
    gamefields.getString(2),
    gamefields.getString(3),
    gamefields.getString(4),
    gamefields.getString(5),
    gamefields.getString(6),
    gamefields.getString(7),
    gamefields.getDouble(8));
    Statement statement = connection.createStatement(); //Creates connection
    //statment to database
    statement.executeUpdate(query); //Executes the delete query and Updates the database
    statement.close();
    close();
    open();
    return lastGame;

    When you use the code from java, you access access (!) through the ODBC interface. Things can be different in ODBC and Jet. When you use PrepareadStatements, you should be on the save side:
    public static Game searchRecord(String search) throws SQLException
    String query = "SELECT * FROM gamefields WHERE SKU = ? ORDER BY SKU ASC";
    PreparedStatement statement = connection.prepareStatement(query);
    statement.setString(1,  search);
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery(query);
    if(rs.next()
    // if a row retuned extract the details here
    rs.close();
    statement.close();
    return lastGame;
    }

  • Problem w/: Error while getting estimated row count for view

    JDev 10.1.3 - Steps
    1. created a ADF VO w/ one bind variable vNAME.
    2. Created a basic jspx page, use the data control pal. to drop in VO w/ executeparam option. Use the data control pal to drop in VO w/ ADF Read-Only Table w/ select and sort option. Selected all VO columns in table.
    3. Following Error msg occurs when running jspx page -
    oracle.jbo.DMLException: Error while getting estimated row count for view object CategoryView, statement SELECT count(1) FROM (SELECT
    CATEGORY.CATID CATID,
    CATEGORY.NAME NAME,
    CATEGORY.PICTURE PICTURE,
    CATEGORY.ACTIVE ACTIVE
    FROM
    CATEGORY
    WHERE
    (CATEGORY.NAME LIKE UPPER(:vName)||'%')) .
    Tested SQL Statement in SQL Worksheet works ok (with a Value replacing ':vName').
    Can anyone advise - seems to be a straight forward process that is returning this error msg. I have tried variations of the SQL stmt with no luck. The jspx page errors when the ADF Read-Only Table is added.

    I seem 2 have the same error, in a slightly different situation.
    I have a view which subclasses a Entity with a history column 'CreatedOn'. When performing a quick search/filter on this column I get the same error. The ADF app is build on a DB2 database, so no named parameters here. Instead invalid SQL is created when executing the estimated row count. The WHERE clause contains 'CreatedOn = null', should be 'CreatedOn is null'. Furthermore the input of my quick search is not filled in this clause.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • APEX 3.1 Report pagination style limited by max row count

    I am working on an application using APEX 3.1 and am having trouble keeping the report pagination style as a select list when the max row count for the report is greater than 8000. If I use the select list as the pagination method, the first time that the first page is viewed is fine however all subsequent pages begin to use the "next" and "previous" link method of pagination. This is only occurring when the max row count is higher than 8000 and a select list is used for pagination.
    My question is: is the style of pagination, in Oracle APEX (3.1), limited by the potential number of rows returned for the report? If not, is this a bug with my version of Oracle APEX?

    The source of my problem was that the report referenced a page item for the number of rows. That select list referenced a named List of Values (LOV) that limited the number of rows that the report could display. I removed that reference and my problem disappeared!

  • Pagination disappears after setting 'max row count'

    I have a report with app. 4500 records (with the default of 15 lines per page) and a pagination scheme of 'Row Ranges 1-15 16-30 in select list (with pagination)'.
    When running the report, all is working fine and i get the information in the select list '.. of more than 500'.
    Then i inserted some values in the 'max row count'-field:
    a value of 2000: it's working as expected
    a value of 4000 (or more): the pagination disappears and won't be desplayed :-(
    Any ideas, what i have done wrong?
    Thanks
    Rainer

    Hi
    This problem - select list dissapearing when > 32k still persists in Version 3.
    A neat workaround is to use a page item to set the number of rows disaplyed.
    Where there is a large number of rows in the table and the max rows is also large, simply set the page item value for the number of rows to a larger value say 200 - then - if the select list now becomes less than 32K the select list will be shown.
    It's a matter of balancing the number of rows shown on the page with the total number of rows in the table / max rows combination.
    It's not perfect but it works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamically set maximum row count in Interactive Report

    Hi,
    Has anyone worked out a way of dynamically setting (e.g. via select list) the maximum row count value for an Interactive Report, taking into account issues with order by when the report is filtered. I'm aware of solutions like this: http://www.talkapex.com/2010/10/apex-reports-no-limit-downloads.html but as far as I can tell this doesn't work when the report is filtered and the IR is rewritten in the background. Data sets then become unreliable because they are reordered.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    You can do that with javascript
    gReport.search('SEARCH',100)the 100 you can replace for any number you like.I have a report with filter,sorting and groups and it is gives no problem there.
    any number means any number but not higher than the number you set at Maximum Rows Per Page.
    You probably can mix the solution from Martin and the above code.

  • Unable to get the row count of supplier site for each supplier

    Hi,
    In the sourcing module, suppliers page is having an advanced table in which there is a field 'supplier' and another filed 'supplier sites' (supplier field is of type picklist).Now, how can i get the count of 'supplier sites' for each supplier???

    Hi sumit,
    Thanks for the reply, can u please help in writing the code to loop through the VO...
    I was trying to get the first row and then finding the count of supplier sites, but in each iteration of for loop(for each row) i am getting the same count value for each and every row...
    Code :
    int j=vo.getrowcount();//count of no. of rows
    for (int i=0;i<j;i++)
    row=(xxVORowImpl)rowsetiterator.getRowAtRangeIndex(1);
    int a=am.getSupplierSitesVO.getRowCount();//this is the view object in the pick list
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this,"value of   a is :"+a,1);
    this code is giving row count of last row of supplier.
    How to get the count for each and every row of supplier sites ?
    Thanks.

  • There was a problem reading this document (109) on Japanese PC

    We have an app written with Delphi 2006 and using Rave Reports to generate PDFs.  A Japanese user of our software cannot open the PDFs (with Acrobat reader) our software produces when they run our software on a Japanese version of Windows (probably Win7). I have the same problem if I try to open the same PDF (which they have sent us) with Acrobat reader on an English-language Win XP machine :
    There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document (109)..
    Ctrl-OK produces "object label badly formatted"
    PDF files produced on English installations of our software read fine on our PCs and on the Japanese user's PC
    Does anyone have any idea where this error is coming from?
    Thanks,
    Ross

    Hi Pat,
    Thanks for looking at this.
    Yes, there are almost certainly Japanese characters.  If you look at the second (readable) version I sent you can see where part of the date has been rendered incorrectly - this is because they have their regional settings arranged so that the Japanese year character is used, and the version of Delphi we use doesn't support those multibyte characters.
    It seems unreasonable for Acrobat Reader to choke on this however.
    Here'a binary dump of the relevant part of the file

    Despite my advice of some of the many faults I have experienced with Acrobat XI Pro, Adobe support has never asked me to provide a 'Systems Report' which is available under the 'Help' tab.
    This report indicates:

    Acrobat XI Pro system requirements include
    1024x768 screen resolution and
    Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, or 10; Firefox Extended Support Release; Chrome
    Well my OQO report above includes

       Screen Height: 480
    and leaves blank
    Default Browser:
    (actually Firefox 17.0.1)
    Yet 'Firefox Extended Support Release' is described by
    Mozilla:
    'Who is it not for?
    Individual users who always want the latest features, performance enhancements and technologies in their browser without waiting for them to become available in ESR several development cycles later.'

    (I did not bother installing plug-ins and deactivated installation before removal of program.)
    With 5 installs producing the same error reports, I am convinced Acrobat XI Pro won't work for me on my computers and have little confidence of useful support from Adobe.
    THERE ARE SO MANY GLARING PROBLEMS WITH MY INSTALLATIONS WITH THE SUPPORT DESK'S RESPOSES UNHELPFUL AND UNINFORMED. I REALLY DON'T ENJOY DOING ADOBE'S QUALITY CONTROL FOR THEM FOR FREE, BUT I CONTINUE TO POST HERE IN THE HOPE THAT SOMEONE WITH REAL AUTHORITY WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE NOTICE AND ARANGE A FIX OF THE PROBLEMS.

    Further I found that the problem is with the setting of the second parameter in the statement. Is there different way how to set the second parameter if union is used?

    Use code tags when you post code.
    I wrote and tested in MS Access following query and all it is working well. You mean it works in MS Access. Not that it works in java.

    "(ParameterGroupMember INNER JOIN ApplicationReadsParameter ON " +I STRONGLY suggest that rather than putting spaces at the end of each part put it at the beginning. It makes it much easier to get it right.
    I also suggest formatting the code. There are various ways.
            // Wrong
            String sql = "select x, y z "
                             + "from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + "where t1.tim=idt.tim "
                             +  "and t1.book = idt.book";
            // Right (spaces) - one way to format
            String sql = "select"
                             + "         x, y z"
                             + " from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + " where"
                             + "          t1.tim=idt.tim"
                             + "          and t1.book = idt.book";Your code is in fact missing a space. No idea if that is a problem or not.
    Remove the semicolon from the end.
    PRINT the sql before you use it, copy/paste and use that string in MS Access (replace the ?) to see if it work.
    Further I found that the problem is with the setting of the second parameter in the statement. Is there different way how to set the second parameter if union is used?The MS Access ODBC driver isn't really great for actually reporting errors correctly. So usually any error means something is wrong and it is up to you to figure out the exact problem.

  • Row Count mismatch in a table

    Hi,
    I am having a table and if i do count(*) , the total rows are coming 36882, but if i take export backup or select * from table, it is showing 7225. Any help to trace out the problem is highly appreciated. I am using oracle 9.2.0.4 in aix 5.3
    Regards
    Sridhar

    Is the "table" being selected from and rows counted, an actual table? Confirm using ALL_OBJECTS. What is the table type? Hash?
    s. I have counted in the actual table only. From all_objects, the object type is TABLE.
    Is FGAC (Fine Grain Access Control) used? Have you tried the select count or export from the SYS schema (exempt from FGAC)? Have you looked at the execution plans?
    No FGAC is used in that table. Export taken from sys also. Then also the same problem.Execution plan has been verified.
    If full table scan is performed, then less number of rows are returned. If the index hint is used and give count(*) or select * from table_name, all rows are returned.
    What happens when a CTAS is done against this table - what is the rowcount of the new table?
    if we give select * from alone then 7000+ rows alone created in new table.
    If index hint is used for ctas, then all the rows nearly 38000 rows are created in the new table.
    There are numerous sanity checks to do, before "accusing" a table of showing incorrect and buggy row count totals
    - All levels of trouble shooting has been already done and no use. This is the second time, i am facing this problem.
    Hence raised the issue and requested help from others.

  • How to change color of rows count dispalyed while debugging ssis packages

    Hello,
    in visual 2013 ssdt version I have row count displayed in white color on pale background: bit.ly/1oWP1Cm
    I'd like to have it in black. I know it should be changeable in Options -> Fonts and Colors, but what option should I change from myriads available?
    Thank you in advance.

    My colleague had the same issue in that we couldn't see the numbers.  We couldn't figure out why we couldn't see the numbers and the design screen was white.  It looked like the numbers were displaying in white over the connections lines.  So
    we changed the color scheme to light and the numbers appeared in black.  WHen we switched the color scheme back to dark, the canvas turned dark and the text was in white.
    So there must be a bug when selecting the color scheme on the first run of Visual Studio 2013 in that it doesn't set the correct canvas color for the SSIS designer.  Luckily toggling the color scheme resolves the issue.

  • Cursor ORDER BY Clause Changing Row Count In BULK COLLECT ... FOR LOOP?

    Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 running on Windows Server 2003
    Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 running on Windows 2000
    I have some PL/SQL code that's intended to update a column in a table based on a lookup from another table. I started out by testing it with the UPDATE statement commented out, just visually inspecting the DBMS_OUTPUT results to see if it was sane. During this testing I added/changed the cursor ORDER BY clause to make it easier to read the output, and saw some strange results. I've run the code 3 times with:
    1. no ORDER BY clause
    2. ORDER BY with two columns (neither indexed)
    3. ORDER BY with one column (not indexed)
    and get three different "rows updated" counts - in fact, when using the ORDER BY clauses it appears that the code is processing more rows than without either ORDER BY clause. I'm wondering why adding / changing an ORDER BY <non-indexed column> clause in a cursor would affect the row count?
    The code structure is:
    TYPE my_Table_t IS TABLE OF table1%ROWTYPE ;
    my_Table my_Table_t ;
    CURSOR my_Cursor IS SELECT * FROM table1 ; -- initial case - no ORDER BY clause
    -- ORDER BY table1.column1, table1.column2 ; -- neither column indexed
    -- ORDER BY table1.column2 ; -- column not indexed
    my_Loop_Count NUMBER := 0 ;
    OPEN my_Cursor ;
    LOOP
    FETCH my_Cursor BULK COLLECT INTO my_Table LIMIT 100 ;
    EXIT WHEN my_Table.COUNT = 0 ;
    FOR i IN 1..my_Table.COUNT LOOP
    my_New_Value := <call a pkg.funct to retrieve expected value from another table> ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value IS NULL ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value = <an undesirable value> ;
    IF my_New_Value <> my_Table(i).column3 THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE( 'Changing ' || my_Table(i).column3 || ' to ' || my_New_Value ) ;
    UPDATE table1 SET column3 = my_New_Value WHERE column_pk = my_Table(i).column_pk ;
    my_Loop_Count := my_Loop_Count + 1 ;
    END IF ;
    END LOOP ;
    COMMIT ;
    END LOOP ;
    CLOSE my_Cursor ;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE( 'Processed ' || my_Loop_Count || ' Rows ' ) ;

    Hello (and welcome),
    Your handling the inner cursor exit control is suspect, which will result in (seemingly) erratic record counts.
    Instead of:
    LOOP
    FETCH my_Cursor BULK COLLECT INTO my_Table LIMIT 100 ;
    EXIT WHEN my_Table.COUNT = 0 ;
    FOR i IN 1..my_Table.COUNT LOOP
    my_New_Value := <call a pkg.funct to retrieve expected value from another table> ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value IS NULL ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value = <an undesirable value> ;
    IF my_New_Value my_Table(i).column3 THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE( 'Changing ' || my_Table(i).column3 || ' to ' || my_New_Value ) ;
    UPDATE table1 SET column3 = my_New_Value WHERE column_pk = my_Table(i).column_pk ;
    my_Loop_Count := my_Loop_Count + 1 ;
    END IF ;
    END LOOP ;
    COMMIT ;
    END LOOP ;Try this:
    LOOP
    FETCH my_Cursor BULK COLLECT INTO my_Table LIMIT 100 ;
    FOR i IN 1..my_Table.COUNT LOOP
    my_New_Value := <call a pkg.funct to retrieve expected value from another table> ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value IS NULL ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value = <an undesirable value> ;
    IF my_New_Value my_Table(i).column3 THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE( 'Changing ' || my_Table(i).column3 || ' to ' || my_New_Value ) ;
    UPDATE table1 SET column3 = my_New_Value WHERE column_pk = my_Table(i).column_pk ;
    my_Loop_Count := my_Loop_Count + 1 ;
    END IF ;
    EXIT WHEN my_Cursor%NOTFOUND;
    END LOOP ;
    END LOOP ;
    COMMIT ;Which also takes the COMMIT outside of the LOOP -- try to never have a COMMIT inside of any LOOP.
    Additionally, not too sure about these:
    my_New_Value := <call a pkg.funct to retrieve expected value from another table> ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value IS NULL ;
    EXIT WHEN my_New_Value = <an undesirable value> ;Any one of those EXITs will bypass your my_Loop_Count increment.

  • IB Section Index Row Count option

    I was wondering what the option "Section Index Row Count" in Interface Builder does?
    There's no option to tell IB how many sections there are in a UITableViewController and I thought that was the purpose of the methods numberOfSectionsInTableView and numberOfRowsInSection.
    I'm new to iPhone programming but it seems to ignore whatever you set in IB and uses the methods defined in UITableViewController

    I haven't read your code, but can make a guess at what's going wrong. Checkboxes do behave in a weird manner depending upon whether you have selected one or many.
    Assuming this is the statement where you are generating the checkbox :
    <input type="checkbox" name="checkBoxName" value="<%= someValue %>">
    What you could do is read the checked checkBoxes in an array :
    String[] values = request.getParameterValues("checkBoxName");
    int sizeOfValues = values.length;
    Then use the sizeOfValues to perform your delete action :
    if (sizeOfValues==1)
         performDelete();
    else
         for (int i=0; i<sizeOfValues(); i++)
              performDelete();
    Hope this technique works.
