No service in Germany, Italy

Why would anyone sell a phone to someone traveling to a country that doesn't support the signal??? CDMA as compared to GSM. My hat is off to the Boca Rotan store for selling my son a phone that gets no service overseas! WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE??? Call the store for help at 561 482 2258 if you want wrong advice. The" i phone" needs to fix this problem . Do not buy that phone if traveling over seas. Does anyone have a solution to the i phone?

The problem has nothing to do with the iPhone, and it is not Apple's fault whatsoever, Apple never designed or marketed the iPhone to be a global smartphone
Using CDMA was never Apple's decision, and as a matter of fact, the Verizon iPhone 4 is the ONLY iPhone to have a CDMA version, Apple decided to make an iPhone that was designed to operate on Verizon's network, Verizon's network is 100% CDMA (Verizon doesn't support GSM)
That said, Apple doesn't need to "fix" anything, it was your fault for choosing Verizon in the first place without asking first if their network or products work overseas, Verizon does offer global smartphones that have both CDMA and GSM radios in them (The BlackBerry Storm 1 phone in my signature was a global smartphone, and had both CDMA and GSM radios), and even come with a Verizon/Vodafone SIM card made to work with the Vodafone network overseas, the iPhone doesn't have global support, and therefore the CDMA iPhone does not support GSM networks, period
This advice may be late, but you have 2 options
1. Purchase an UNLOCKED GSM (AT&T) iPhone (3G, 3GS, or 4), take the GSM iPhone along with the CDMA iPhone into Verizon and request to have a Vodafone SIM card put onto the account, using your son's number, when in the US, Canada or other country with CDMA network support, use the CDMA iPhone, when in the UK, Germany, Italy or other country that doesn't support CDMA, shut off the CDMA iPhone 4 and turn on the GSM iPhone 4 with Vodafone SIM card, unless I am mistaken, it should automatically connect to the Vodafone network using your son's Verizon number
2. Switch to AT&T and get the iPhone from there, AT&T's iPhones are GSM as AT&T is a GSM network, AT&T's network on the other hand will work overseas, but be aware you will incur roaming charges when your son uses the phone in a different country

Email Push Service for Germany again - time schedule?

It there any infomration at whcih time Apple will support German iOS unsers by email push service again?

This is an interesting question... it's a sad story... push email for iCloud used to work only for about 6 months and now has remained offline for what is soon 1.5 years... unfortunately, Apple thinks the best course of action is to cut the service... this is easy (costs nothing), no need to apologize to users, no need to keep users in the loop etc.

Power Supply is not working in Germany

Hi, I bought long time ago a notebook in USA. When I was back in Germany the notebook didn't charged any more. I asked for support, because of the guarantee, but they said there guarantee is for supplies only six month. I forgot the notebook in the cellar. Now I'm asking myself, if the is a possibility to get a "new" notebook running. I just used the notebook 2 hours. Use of Official Document number in VAT Books for Italy

Dear All,
I would like to share with you a big doubt I have regarding the use of Official Document Number in the VAT Books. This is a requirement for an Italian client.
According to my clients requierement they would like to manage 5 different VAT Books:
1. Sale book (for all finished products sold in Italy, EU and outside EU)
2. Sale book for sundry sales (CAPEX, services, other goods ...)
3. Purchase book (for all the goods bought in Italy and out-side EU and for all the services bought in Italy)
4. EU purchase book (for all the goods and services bought from EU suppliers and for all the services bought from not EU suppliers)
5. EU sale (reverse charge) book (with the same numbers and amounts of the purchase book number 4)
For every VAT Book they want the Officil Document number to be displayed. Not only that, they want the Official Document Number to end in 1 (XXXXXXX1) at the start of every natural Year for EVERY VAT Book, and have sequential numbering with no gaps.
My intention is to use: RFKKITVATM. This is a specific VAT report for Italian Companies. The report selects documents that contain regular VAT and that have been assigned an Official Document number (ODN). You run this report to generate such a list for the current month. It selects documents with an ODN based on the invoice or credit memo posting date. You can create as many layout-variants (one per VAT Book??).
My question is: The VAT Books are based on different VAT Codes. How can we have every single VAT Book to start with an Official Document number ending in 1? The number range will be Document type dependant and not VAT Code dependant.
As per my knowledger, To use Official Document Numbering (ODN) in Italy we have to make a number of settings:
- Activate ODN
- Specify which document types the system is to assign official document numbers to.
- Assign installation-specific function modules to events
- Define Number ranges
Have you faced up a similar requirement? Is this a legal requierement or is my client mixing up with another legal requierement related to this subject: To print a sequential number and the fiscal year on each page of the reportu2019s output list. The System starts the numbering automatically at 1, as it does for each subsequent year.

Am facing an issue when implementing the ODN solution for Italy. I cannot replicate the ODN in field BKPF-XBLNR_ALT when posting Invoice via MIRO.
1. I have Defined a Document Class per VAT Book
2. I have Assign a Document Class to Document Types (in my example Document Type "RE" to Document class "43". And select "Generate Official Document Number, with date control".
3. I have mantained Number ranges
4. I have Assign the Number ranges to Document Class.
5. In order to transfer the ODN from Billing docs to Accounting docs I have entered the Document Type "RV" at Billing Document Type level.
It all works as expected except for the Accounting documents coming from Logistic Invoice verification - MIRO transaction. Document Type "RE" is used for posting but my field BKPF-XBLNR on Accounting document remains blank.
Is there any additional step am missing?

U.S. Military stationed in Germany

I am a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and have recently been stationed in Germany. I currently have a subscription for an online number, as well as SkypeOut to call phones in North America. I would like to have basically this same combination of service in Germany. Which services would I need to subscripe to in order to get this and is there a SkypeOut-like service for Germany that includes unlimited usage for calling landlines and mobile phones?
Also, I noticed that, in order to get an Online Number in Germany, I need to apply with a physical address. I currently have a tentative address for on-post housing, but it may change, as I do not move into this unit for about 30 days. Is it possible to use my APO Post Office Box for this address?

1) US to German (Shucko - spelling?) type power plug adapter. This is simply the adapter to convert a US cable to fit the german plug like a typical travel apdater.
2) A new D-type power cable.
Either option will do just fine.

Moving To Germany...what to do with my iPhone?

I was going to purchase an iPhone for the first time this weekend but I just found out I'm going to move to Germany at the end of the year. I would like to get it now and be able to use it over there. I've heard a lot about unlocking the phone but once you do that the apps don't work or you can't use certain things on the phone (features that are the reason you buy the phone in the first place.) I still want to buy the phone this weekend but what can I do about service in Germany? Will AT&T unlock the phone if I have government travel orders so I can use it on T-mobile over there and will I be able to use all the features?

Although AT&T will unlock certain carrier locked phones when requested by a subscriber during the contract period or after the contract has expired, AT&T is not obligated to do so by law. AT&T will do this with some phones, but not all, and the iPhone is not one of them.
This is up to AT&T, not Apple. The same applies to any cell phone manufacturer in regards to a phone sold as carrier locked.
The iPhone is sold as carrier locked with a designated carrier in Germany also, which I believe is with T-Mobile there. Not sure if T-Mobile unlocks iPhones in Germany either.
This can be different for some, but I don't know anyone who uses the same cell phone for 3 years or longer.

We are moving to Germany - Is it better to buy a IPhone in the US or in Germany? The cost is much more in Germany. What is the best way to have a IPhone in Germany? Contract with phone?

If you buy the iphone in the U.S., you will not be able to get warranty service in Germany as the warranty is only good in the U.S.

Poor Apple Service

My Mac book pro is just one year and one week old! It as a fault which shows a gey strip arount one inch wide on the side of the screen. I took this in to the apple store in Hamburg Germany where I was very inpolitely told that the warranty had run out. They then did some quick drop thing whereby I would be informed of the status inside 24 hours. I can no longer get any information have not been informed of the status and keep getting moved from one call centre to the other with massive waiting time. Does anybody else out there no how to get decent service from Apple or will this comment be deleted before it gets aired ??????

I know here in the States if that happened to me I would be on the phone to Apple Customer Service before the dust had time to settle.
I would find it most amazing if there is not an Apple Customer Service in Germany where you can escalate your problem to for service.
So far I have never had the need to do this with Apple but if I feel I am getting less then ideal service, I love asking the most obnoxious person who waited on me to provide me with the number of their customer service. If they refuse I immediately go to the store manager and turn them in to him. Then ask him for the same information. If I manage to get that far with this, I always get results. Usually it is the manager of the store who doesn't want me talking to corporate who fixes the problem immediately.

As far as I know only the Nokia Lumia 800 will be sold in the Netherlands this year.
Same goes for Spain, Italy, Germany, UK and France
As far as I have heard Nokia Lumia 710 will only be sold in Russia for now.
Then later on also in Asia before the end of the year

HT5071 EPUB converter other than Calibre?

I want to get my work published on iBook but I'm having difficulties in delivering my package on iTunes Producer since it's not accepting the epub file I used from Calibre. The original file is PDF and I've converted it to EPUB on Calibre. I've read that the EPUB format from Calibre is not compatible with iBooks as you can see I'm getting 3 errors:
1. Apple's web service opration was not successful
2. Unable to authenticate the package: Clouds_2004.itmsp
3. ERROR ITMS-9000: "Clouds_2004.epub: resource OPS/Fonts/EmbedFont.ttf is missing" at Book (MZltmspBookPackage)
Can anyone suggest an alternative converter or how to work around it?

Terms to be agreed when creating a Paid Books Account and submitting an iBook to the iBookstore

Hi there everyone
I'm advising a client on the range of terms to be agreed when its creates an iBook using iBooks Author and then submits the iBook for publication on the iBookstore (using a Paid Books Account, not a Free Books Account).
From what I can glean from various sources, it seems the client needs to agree to:
the iBooks Author 2.0 License Agreement, when downloading the iBooks Author app from the AppStore;
the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement (when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect); and
the iTunes Connect Terms of Service when downloading iTunes Producer (the separate app through which one publishes an iBook to the iBookStore).
There are two things I'm not sure about though. The reason for my lack of certainty is that I don't have a US Tax ID and so cannot replicate the Paid Books Account sign-up process to the stage where I'd have to agree to the various terms and conditions. My questions, please, are:
Am I correct in thinking that a person is required, when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect, to agree to the "eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement"?
If so, can anyone email me please ([email protected]) or provide a link to the latest version of the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement? (I've seen a version online (http://outskirtspress.com/iBookStore_v3.pdf) but don't know whether it's the latest version; I'm thinking it's probably not).
When signing up for a Paid Books Account, is one also required to agree to the "PHG Terms and Conditions" and the "Publisher Program Terms and Conditions" that are attached to them, or is that optional?

Any documents/agreements are obtained as part of a contract and not allowed to be distributed in an otherwise uncontrolled manner, which if done, could violate the agreement/contract.
You need to participate in the process to:
1. Access the latest, binding versions of all agreements/contracts
2. Possess a tax id/SSN to sign up.
If you have questions about the process, you should contact Apple directly.

How do you fix 'unable to upgrade from version 0'?

I have been working on 6 ibooks over the past year, documenting a lot of stuff for user manuals for our school. The ibooks were all created in iBA version 1.0, but are not published - we only use them internally so we just use the previews.
I gave up trying to upgrade my 1.0 iBooks, it takes too long to 'optimize' the files when I try to open them in 2.0. I have read all the issues with iBA 2.0, but decided to download 2.0 on another computer and wabt to try to re-write all my old 1.0 manuals (I have all the files that went into them).
However, when I double-click to open the 2.0, nothing happens. So I go to 'File' and select 'New from Template Chooser'. I then get the window with all the new templates, including the portrait ones. When I select any template, say the 5th one for example, I get the prompt "The document 'Textbook 05.ibatemplate' could not be upgraded. Unable to upgrade from version 0". This happens for every template. I don't understand. I downloaded the 2.0 from the app store onto a 'clean' computer. Yes, it has Lion on it and all the spec requirements to run iBA. Can anyone help me with what to do next?
