No Sound in cs4?

Hello,
I just got Cs4 and opened a file that I created in Flash 8.
all of the sounds are called with
actionscript..sndAudioIntro.attachSound("intro");
sndAudioIntro.start();
But when I publish my movie there is no sound.
I have the file set as an as2 file.
I can hear the file when I play it in the library. If I check
the sound properties on the time line to "Event" then the sound
file plays twice.
Has anyone else run into this problem???
if I export it from flash 8 everything works fine.

I'm now also experiencing this problem and have the latest version of CS4 with current updates. The problem occurs when the Sync field of a sound is set to Stop, this causes the sound to be ignored when the SWF is built, they can't be played programatically as they haven't been embedded.
It's simple to recreate, just create a new AS2 FLA, import a sound to the library, drop it into the first frame of the timeline and select Stop from the Synch drop-down. Use a largeish sound so the generated SWF has a noticeable change in size.
I'm currently working on a legacy AS2 project and have failed to find a workaround for this problem, my only option at the moment is to downgrade to CS3.

you can use the bitmapdata class to determine the color characteristics of an particular pixel or group of pixels. and you can use sound class'es sampledataevent to generate sounds in cs4.

Free Scores do not download or play in soundbooth CS4

So I just purchased adobe soundbooth cs4 and to my dismay none of the free scores work at all. There are quite a few listed, but every single time I click play nothing happens. If i click download, nothing happens either. I can go to the score bundles and play a few of them. But all of the score bundles have subitems under their respective catagories.   The free scores have no subitems. I was promised access to online score content when I purchased this and have no such access.
PLEASE HELP!

I suppose you have already tried this, open Sound Booth (CS4 for me) > window>checkmark "scores". New tab on top left is now available next to "files" tab labled "scores". This should show you a list of installed scores, 2 come with SB. To add more simply click on the folder icon labeled "import scores" on the bottom side of scores tab. navigate to the zipped score file you downloaded and open.   You should see it listed in scores tab now. double click to play or click on arrow icon on bottom of tab to add to multitrack. You can now delete your zipped file you downloaded or archive it as SB saves the scores elsewhere after import.

I used firefox to download and I run "no scripts" addon which had to be set to allow downloads from adobe before I could download.

CS 4 Playback

New system - Quad Core processor, 4 GB RAM, Win XP SP 2, dual monitor. Editing with very high quality XDCAM footage - 1920 x 1080i. Audio plays back smoothly in CS3, but lots of choppy sound in CS4. Same files, same footage, same hardware. Any possible solutions?

No audio in mulit-camera editing

PLEASE can somebody help me?
I keep losing sound in CS4 multicam editing in two ways:
1) This has only happened once, I sync all my video/audio in a sequence, start a new 'multicam' sequence, sound works fine but as soon as I click Clip/multi-camera/enable the sound disappears. I HAVE CHECKED that the correct audio stream is selected in my original timeline however the sound wont play?! But if I Un-enable the multicam, the sound comes back
2) This happens a lot. As I'm editing in multi-camera editing after a while and a number of cuts/edits, the sound just stops at that edit onwards. So for instance I'm editing a 10 min piece with 20 plus cuts from one camera to another then at a certain point I make a cut to a camera and the sound stops from that point on.
Pleae can someone help, I cannot find any answers anywhere online.

I too am having the sound problem. The audio just disappears after making several camera switching edits. If you hit "undo" the sound will come back at that point but if you once again try to make a camera switch, the sound will be gone again at that edit point forward. It doesn't matter which camera you select after that...the audio will be gone. This has happened to me on two projects. What I did to work around it was to place the same multicamera sequence on the timeline again following the point where the sound disappears. I then edit the added sequence so that it starts at the point where I lost the sound. You can now edit this sequence and select among cameras and the sound will stay. But this time consuming and I shouldn't have to do this. Is it related to the number of camera edits that you put in a sequence?

Adobe Media Encoder CS4 converted FLV files have sound but no picture

It would be great if anyone can help - I am using the latest trial version of Flash CS4. I have used the Media Encoder to convert mpg4 files to FLV however the resultant files play with sound but no picture - just a black screen. Is there a solution to this issue?

Does Riva FLV encoder needs any extra codec? I am using Moyea Flash Video MX 6. It do not need any extra code. It needs in the former versions but in version 6 it can convert nearly any video format now.

I have a QuickTime movie that has both audio and video components. It plays just fine in the Finder and QuickTime Player. I’m trying to convert it to Flash video for posting as a streaming file to our Web server. I’m new to Flash, and this is a bit of an experiment, so it’s quite possible I am going about it all the wrong way, but whenever I use the Adobe Media Encoder to convert the MOV file (51.8 MB, 1152×648 frame, PCM stereo audio, H.264 MPEG-3 codec) to F4V for insertion into Flash and eventual generation of a SWF file, all I get out of the encoder is a video. The video claims to have AAC-encoded stereo sound, but nothing plays.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could be doing wrong or what’s not happening properly? I’ve applied all available patches to all CS4 applications. The movie was originally exported from Keynote, if that makes any difference.

No Sound - Adobe Media Encoder CS4

Hello,
I have been trying to convert an MPEG file to F4V using Adobe Media Encoder CS4.
However, no matter what parameters i choose on the encoding, it will always generate a F4V file with no sound.
I also updated all the CS4 package to the latest version; doesn't seem to helped a bit.
Any ideas?

Encore Timeline Audio Sound Vanishes from Dynamic Link to PPro CS4

Problem: Encore Timeline Audio Sound Vanishes from Dynamic Link to PPro CS4
I have several several PPro CS 4 projects each with a couple sequences.
In Encore CS4, I make dynamic links to the sequences using
Adobe Dynamic Link | Import Premiere Pro Sequence ...
In Encore, I create the Timelines for the Sequences from the dynamic links.
In the Encore Timeline for each sequence, each Timeline initially plays the video and audio correctly.
However, should I make any minor edits in Premiere (via edit original in Encore) like changing a title's text and re-rendering the PPro sequence, the Encore Timeline plays the video fine, but there is no audio (the audio track is there, but no audio sound occurs). The Encore dynamic link is untranscoded.
The following do not make the Encore Timeline audio track audible.
Update markers from source.
Clean database button for PPro and Encore.
Deleting the media Cache and Media Cache Files folders.
Deleting the Encore Cache folder.
The only way which seems to fix the audio is to delete the Encore Timeline and generate a new Timeline from the dynamic link. Of course, this means relinking the end actions for the buttons and timelines which is a pain and defeats the purpose of using dynamic links.
I have been using dynamic links without audio problems for quite awhile without a problem. Now this problem appears in many projects. Thanks in advance.

I cannot directly answer, but here's some info.
From a variety of users comments, and my limited experience with CS4 and significant experience wiht CS5, there were improvements in CS5.
The number one issue when users find no audio in DL situations is not waiting for conforming. Look at the progress bar and wait till done.
You are more likely to see DL audio problems using files in Premeire that are not as easy for Encore (e.g. mp3).

Unfortunately, you have posted to the Premiere forum. This is for the precursor to PrPro, which has its own forum. I'm sure that Jeff, or Curt will move this over to that forum.
Now, there are two places that one would set the FPS. The first will be in the Sequence Preset. If one chooses a Desktop Preset, they can then change nearly all of the settings. What is the FPS in your Sequence?
Next, when doing Exports to many formats, one can also set the FPS. What was chosen in your case.

CS4 - problem with sound

I have Adobe Premiere PRO CS4. Everything is OK, bud when I capture video trought 1394 sound track is after about 40 seconds off.
I use JVC HD 7 camcoder and if I do it in Avid Liquid everything works. Does anyone know where is problem?

The line is a flat one. But, like I said, it is only for the imported media and when I open the project back. If I import my sequence (from the other project) and play it, it'll be fine... until I close and open the saved project again...
As for importing, I always do "Import" then "Selected Sequences Only" (or something like that).
If I wanna play the sequence (project 1) that I imported in project 2, after opening the project 2, even the sequence taken individually is not working (for the sound only).
Curiously, the sounds that I put yesterday that I did NOT imported from another project is just working fine.
Not sure if it was clear English isn't my first language and writing a problem isn't as clear as seeing it hehe.

That's the reason I'm looking for a good stable sound-module (FireWire) to work with Premiere Pro
and AE.

No Audio in the timeline and no sound as well using CS4

We have installed CS4 Premiere Pro. When we imported a video clip, there was an error message "audio conforming error". the image part showed up but there was nothing (no sound, no wave length on the timeline). We can work on this video file on CS3 version on the other computer. Please help.

It has been suggested by several, that the workaround that you mention, no longer works with CS4. I do not have it, so I cannot check the validity of those suggestions.
Still, when faced with material that proves problematic for PrPro (any version) to handle, one can most often find a way to convert that material to something that WILL work better. Sometimes there is a quality hit, but this has often taken place BEFORE the conversion.
To borrow on Harm's example and to paraphrase, if faced with the prospect of trying to drive a screw with a hammer, if one replaces the screw with a nail, things will likely go much more smoothly. Now, in so doing, the connection made with the nail will likely not be a good, or as strong, as with the screw, but will often work. That's what the conversion does.
The Premiere-wiki has many good suggestions for conversion techniques and programs. There is even one for Converting AC3 Audio.

Strange sound/sync problem after encoding in CS4

Hi guys and gals, wonder if anyone can help me out on this one?
I'm running PPro CS4 on a purpose-built matrox rtx2 system, working mostly from DVCAM.
I've done a complete edit, cutting various interview soundbites over music to make a testimonial montage. After doing the complete audio mix, everything sounds fine and dandy when I preview it after rendering. The problem occurs when I output the film using AME to a variety of different formats. Where previously I had precise edits on the timeline, the audio cuts sound to be a couple of frames out. For example, one cut occurs just after the line 'ideal product for our needs' and sounds exactly as it should on the timeline, but on the outputted file it sounds like he says 'ideal product for our nee...'
Same thing occasionally happens on music mixes, when I cut to the beat to use different sections of the backing track and crossfade through, it sounds fine on the timeline but then after I output the file then cuts the sound off the beat and the music sounds like it goes slightly out of time on the transition.
I've even tried rendering it out as a wav file, but that doesn't work either.
Is it something I'm doing wrong? I've checked and it's all 48k sound (and if it was a sample rate issue I assume it would appear on the timeline as well). Or is it another to add to the long list of problems we've had with the matrox setup?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Could it be that the preview of the timeline is inaccurate as opposed to the outputted file?
Let's check this out. First, is there a red line above your Clips in the Timeline, just below the Timeline Ruler? If so, hit Enter to Render those Clips for smoothest playback. Note: Audio can need Rendering too. Does this help?
If not, set the WAB (Work Area Bar) over a small section of the Timeline, though one that exhibits the OOS issue. Export to your desired format/CODEC and test. Do you get OOS in the Export?
