No TimesTen tab in New/Select Database Connection dialog

SQL Developer 1.5.1.54.40
Tools/Preferences/Extensions/TimesTen is 1.5.1.1.2.
Java 1.6.0_07
The help says there should be a TimesTen tab in addition to the Oracle and Access tabs, but there is not.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm having exactly the same problem.
SQL Developer version 1.5.1 Build MAIN-5440
TimesTen Release 7.0.5.0.0
Windows XP
Times Ten Data Manager service is up and running, I can connect to TT databases using ttisql utility and everything works fine. The "About->Extensions" shows Oracle SQL Developer Extension oracle.sqldeveloper.timesten 1.5.1.1.2 Loaded. CLASSPATH=c:\TimesTen\tt70_32\lib\ttjdbc5.jar is added to the class path.
Unfortunately, the TimesTen tab is not visible in the New Connection wizzard, and adding TimesTen JDBC driver by hand brings it up, but the tab is useless and every attempt to define the connection to a TT database results in the same error as in the previous post.
I'd appreciate any help.
Mikolaj Morzy
UPDATE
Stupid me, when running SQL Developer from Launchy or TotalCommander the DOS session was not reading the environment correctly. I was looking at Start->Run->Cmd environment (with CLASSPATH set correctly), but running SQL Developer from TotalCommander and Launchy.

    Hi,
You don't say if you actually have a local database installed. If not, you need too. If you already do, then the most common case is Oracle 10g or 11g Express Edition. In that case the default SID is XE, as noted in the following similar thread:
Re: Connecting to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition
If you need to install a database, you can get 10g or 11g XE here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/express-edition/downloads/index.html
The 10g XE release has a smaller memory and disk footprint if that makes a difference to you.

  • Gridbag layout error at "new/select database connection" frame

    Hi,
I'm running SQLDev at Win XP sp 2.
When I expands the "new/select database connection" frame it behaves really strange and the top left pane becomes smaller instead of bigger! :-) This makes it impossible to see and reach all connection settings.
Just a GUI-bugg - but annoying and probably one of first experiencies new users will have of SQLDev...
best regards and keep up the good work

  • Cant see SQL Server tab on the New/Select Database Connection

    Hi All,
I cant see the SQL Server tab in the new database connection window. I have added the SQL Server jdbc driver using the Tools->Preferences->Third Party JDBC Driver, but all I can see are the the Oracle and the Access tabs.
    I am using version 1.5.4.
    Any pointers is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
I have SQL Developer Version 1.5.4 Build MAIN-5940.
I downloaded JTDS from SQL Developer Migration page and unzipped.
I added the driver in SQL Developer through tool/perference/database/third party vendor
I still cannot see SQL Server tab.
What else do I need to do to see the tab?
    Thanks.

  • Database connection dialog no longer available

I want to add a connection to the connections in SQL Developer. However I cannot as I cannot access the database connection dialog.
I tried in different ways :
    - plus sign above the connections
    - editing an existing connection
    - menu option : editing - properties when standing on a connection
    - menu option : file - new and choose for new database connection
I do not get an error when clicking on these options. I just does not start any action.
When starting up SQL developer I see this in the log pane : "Exception firing addinsLoaded to oracle.jdevimpl.vcs.VCSManagerImpl$6@7d91275b"
    Maybe this error is related?
I know as a workaround you can import a connection from an XML file. Tried that, it works, I see an extra connection in the list but I do not manage to use it to connect to the database.
Would be great to access the database connection dialog.

The specific error you have listed is related to versioning support - do you use this? If not, then I would suggest switching off versioning support in the preferences (Tools > Preferences > Extensions) and trying again.
If that doesn't work, the error you list has been reported (along with a number of other errors, which you may or may not be getting) in Start-up error "DatabaseConnections has no JNDI context so cannot list ..." - do you have an ssoShell.exe running? If so, does killing it help SQL Developer?

  • Database connection dailog opens with missing fields

    Greetings all,
I have one user who has a couple reports that do not display all the fields in the database connection dialog box when she attempts to refresh the data in a report.
Normally this dialog box opens with the Datasource, UserID (of the last person who saved data with the report) and Database prefilled, so only the Password needs to be completed or the UserID changed.
For her (and this is only happening on a couple reports), only the Datasource text box is visible. The datasource is correctly filled in but in order to see the other fields, she needs to click the next button and then click back. Then all three fields - UserID, Password and Database need to be entered.
This only started in the past couple months and so far is only occuring with 2 reports, both new. Other new reports are acting normally.
We are using Crystal Reports XI with the latest service packs. Our reports are in a shared folder on the network. So far I have not been able to duplicate this behavior on anyone else' machine.
Any idea's on what might be causing this or how to correct it?
    TIA,
    Bob

I would check that persons database client and/or version of MDAC. May also be a permission issue on tables.

  • Error in Oracle Lite Database connection

    Hi,
I have installed the Oracle Application server 10.1.3.1.0 on my laptop (basic installation).
I tried to define a database connection in the JDeveloper connection navigator to the Oracle lite database. When I test the connection I got an error:
    "Internal Error:Invalid Connect String".
I have defined in the connection tab of the Edit database connection in the following way:
    Driver class: oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver
    Library: OLite
    Classpath: C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\lib\olite40.jar
    URL: jdbc:polite4@localhost:100:orabpel
Could anyone tell me which user and password I should define for the oracle lite database which is delivered with Oracle Application server 10.1.3.1.0?

    Hi,
Did you start the SOA suite on your workstation?
If so, can you reach the BPEL Console
if so, check via Enterprise Manager the connect string in the OC4J instance of BPEL (oc4j_soa -> administartion -> JDBC > conenctions, or data-sources.xml)
Copy the connect string into your OLite config if it works

  • Create database connection with Mysql

    Hi, all:
inside JDeveloper, i try to create a database connection for Mysql (third party
JDBC driver). I input all needed parameters into
JDeveloper database connection dialog, and test connection, the error message
says 'Unable to find driver org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver". The jar file contains driver
is listed in system classpath, and Mysql and MM-Mysql JDBC driver are tested with
other applications and there is no problem.
So, what i should do to create such a connection ??
Any help will be appreciated. thank you in advance.

The connectio URL could look like this:
(leave the User-, Password-, and Role-fields, in the tab before, empty)
    Java Class Name: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test?ultradevhack=true&?user=myuser&?password=mypassword

  • Steps to change universe database connection from SQL server to Oracle 10

    Hi,
we are moving from sql server to Oracle 10.Please let me know the steps and various parameters I should consider while changing universe database connection from SQL server to Oracle 10.
Following are the steps which I assumed :
    1.     create a new Oracle database connection or edit the existing connection to point to Oracle server
    2.     Need to check sql for each object, having integrity check for universe will solve the purpose of parsing each object
    3.     Exporting the universe after integrity check
    4.     Report data testing
Let me know if I miss on any steps. Also what all factors I need to consider while moving to Oracle for eg: what @ custom sql, what @ table names, what @ LOV etc.
    Kindly reply

    Thanks Abhijeet and Shreyash,
I will follow the steps you have suggested.
Actually I was searching for this on net and got to know that with Oracle database connection, theres lot of stuff needs to take care of in terms of custom sql and LOV and in our case,we have lot of custom sql for each object in the universe so just wanted to confirm.
I will do the changes and let you guys know in case theres any isuue specifically to Oracle.

  • How to create database connection and how to call it using Java

    Hi,
Good day! I'd like to know how I can create a db connection in JDev, then use this connection to retrieve data using a Java Class? I've seen using New Gallery > Database Connection. But I'm not sure how I can access this connection using Java and display some output from the retrieved records.
    Any steps/tutorial link is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
If you need to access the connection in the entity object then refer http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/bcadvgen.htm#BABEIFAI i.e in MODEL.
But if you want to access connection in ViewController part of application then you need to do it manually. For this i am giving you my code for reference.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • When the time of database connection got ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID

Test failed: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

The error means it is connecting to a server with Oracle on it but it does not know of a database with the SID you have supplied.
You say "Test failed" - are you talking about the Create Database Connection dialog?
If so then check the values in the Host Name and SID boxes. If you have a DBA then verify these are the correct values (also check the listener port with him/her, normally 1521).
Is your SID just a single word or with dots e.g. of the form mydb.mycompany.world? If the latter then try using the Service Name rather than the SID.

  • 4.0EA3 missing "Oracle" in Connections dialog

I use SQL Developer on a Windows 7 machine.  I always install to a folder "C:\Program Files\Oracle\SQL Developer\".  When I update to a new version, I rename the folder for the existing version from "SQL Developer" to something like "SQL Developer 4.0.0.12" and name the folder for the new versin "SQL Developer".  This way, I keep an old version if I want it for anything and my desktop shortcuts are automatically pointing to the new version.
Well, this time, when I installed 4.0EA3 I found I could not connect to any DB.  The "Oracle" tab was missing in the connections dialog.  I only had "Access" and "JBDC".  Well, I finally realized, that this was only an issue when I saved the new version to the folder with the same name that the old version had.  If I run it from a folder called "SQL Developer 4.0.0.13" it works fine.  This hasn't been an issue with any prior version.
I tried not importing the settings from the prior version, but I still have the same issue.  The "Oracle" tab is missing.
So, is there something I need to do to make 4.0EA3 work in a folder with the same name as the prior version had?

Sorry, I may not have been clear.  I did remove the existing directly entirely before doing the install.  That is, I renamed that directory. Then created a new directory with the same name. So, both version should are still distinct.
If the folder is called "SQL Developer", I don't have the "Oracle" tab.  If I rename the folder to something else, then run SQL Developer, the "Oracle" tab is present.  If I then change the folder name back, the tab is again gone.  The contents of the folder rename unchanged each time I try this.

  • Creating new Data Source Error - Database connection Failed

Successfully installed and configured 11.1.1.3.0. Planning and Essbase dev.
Went to Workspace > Administer > Classing Planning Administration > Manage Data Sources > Create Data Source.
Entered all info about the application database , etc. Getting error "The database connection failed" (I was able to connect with no problem during the install)
SQL server 2005 is on the same physical server.
The diagnostic tool shows database connection passed for planning. A new database was created for the new application.
The server event viewer shows these errors.
"Login failed for user 'xxx-hyperion'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."

The Group Policy client-side extension Group Policy Services failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Datasource for the application.
I have created a sql db for this planning application (my datasource). See my first message for more details.
When you create a new planning application, you need to associate it with a data source. Since this is a new install, I don't have any data sources available yet.
So, "To create, edit or delete data sources, click Manage Data Source."
This page lets you validate your connection to the database and essbase server. My essbase server connection validates! The database connection does not validate after I enter all the relevant information.

    @http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27086_02/help/oracle.eclipse.tools.common.doc/html/install.html#install_oepe

"You can install OEPE using any of the following ways:
Download, and then unzip OEPE plugins directly into the Eclipse dropins folder and restart Eclipse."
This is what I have done,
then when I create a new database connection, and I press the button "test connection" i got a pop up saying "Ping failed" giving details:

The documentation is out of date. The unzip to dropins method is no longer supported. The OEPE zip you downloaded is actually an archived repository. You can follow the instruction for installing using Eclipse Update Manager and point to the downloaded zip instead of the online repository.
I will follow up to get the docs updated.
