Hi Kiran,
You can achieve this by using a calculated attribute.
Define one string variable in the context. In the properties, make the calculatedAttribute true. Two methods will be created automatically.
Go to the get method implementation of the calculated attribute and write the following code.
if(wdContext.nodeXYZ().size()==0)
String date = // populate today's date
return date;
else
return wdContext.currentXYZElement().getRequiredDate();

How can you repair "invalid node structure and invalid b-tree node size"
I have a MacBook Pro 17" and the original install disk is Mac OS 10.4. I have an update 10.6 install CD, but I cannot use it to boot up my computer. My computer had been running on 10.6 when the problem occurred.
It seems my harddrive has crashed. It only boots to apple logo and spins. I have reset the pram. Started up in safe mode with shift pressed down and started up on the start up disk, where I did repair disk and got this "invalid node structure invalid b-tree node size". Then it said repair failed to complete. I tried booting again but it still failed. I thought doing a restore might solve the problem. I have a month old backup with time machine which is on a lacie external drive, but when I try to restore using my original 10.4 install disk, I can only choose the lacie hardrive icon (by dragging) and cannot choose the folder in the backups with the latest backup. When I tried to restore, it says my source is not a valid option. Is this because it is a 10.4 startup disk.
Basically I have two questions: Is there a way to fix my problem without doing a restore and if I have to restore, how do I restore my time machine backup? Will I need to do a reinstall with 10.4 and then update to 10.6?
I really hope to find a way to have my computer back to how it was when it started spinning and if not, at least as it was when I did the latest backup 3 weeks ago.
Please help me!!!
RebeccaYou should be able to boot to the Snow Leopard upgrade disc — you had to do so to install the upgrade in the first place. If you can't boot to it now, either the disc is scratched or dirty or your drive's lens is dirty; for the latter problem, a drive cleaning disc is an inexpensive, frequently-used and often successful remedy, available at any store that sells DVDs.
Because you're running Snow Leopard now, you should repair your hard drive directory using the Snow Leopard version of Disk Utility, not the one on your Tiger installer disc. If you aren't able to do so even after trying to clean your drive, you could buy and use DiskWarrior to rebuiild the damaged HD directory. But DW costs nearly $100, and though it would probably do the trick, that's a bunch of money. You'll have to weigh its cost against the value of the new or changed data on your drive that hasn't been backed up in the last three weeks. If you can get along without that data, then erasing your hard drive and restoring from your last backup is the no-cost, immediate (as opposed to waiting for a DW startup disk to arrive in the mail) solution. -
Displaying data in tableview on click of a tree node
Hi,
I am new to BSP. I created a tree structure having the tablenames as tree nodes, and now if I click on a node I want to display corresponding table data in a tableview. How can I acheive this....??
Thanks in advance,
Ravindra.Hi Ravindra,
You can achieve this by reading the node clicked OnInput Processing and You can assign name of your table in "onNodeClick" attribute .
then onInputprocessing you can read the name of your table from
"event->server_event" .
Check this sample code .

In oracle rac, If user query a select query and in processing data is fetched but in the duration of fetching the particular node is evicted then how failover to another node internally?
The query is re-issued as a flashback query and the client process can continue to fetch from the cursor. This is described in the Net Services Administrators Guide, the section on Transparent Application Failover.

WAD: Size of graphic is too small to display data
Hi BI-Gurus
I get a message showing that the graphic size is not large enough to display data.
I already have a chart item linked to a query which has the same amount of columns as result. This chart/graphic seems to be okay, WAD displays it.
But the other chart/graphic doesn't work although the linked query (it is another one than the first mentioned) have the same amount of columns as result.
Do you have any ideas how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance
Hopp SchwiizHi,
If i am understanding your problem correctly, your size of second chart is too small to display. This you can overcome this problem by changing your webiteam basic settings like width & length. Sometimes, based upon data or the type of chart settings, the second chart area is not enough when compared to first chart.
If your chart is designed through report designer, there you can just change the row & column size of the chart it contained. This you can do by selecting that row/columns and in the left side down bar, you can see the properties to change the width. Remeber, this is only in Report designer.

JTree: Problems updating the nodes size
Hi,
I'm trying to update the content of a JTree and I wonder how it
really works, since the paint() method doesn't seem to call the
renderer.
My situation: Imagine a JPanel splited in two by a JSplitPane. In
the left is the tree. Each node in the tree shows two panels, one
aligned to the left, and another to the right. I need that the panel
containing the two use all the available space in the left part of the
Split panel.
My solution: I pass the left JPanel to the tree renderer, so that
it can get the width from it (inside the
getTreeCellRendererComponent()) to build the return JPanel with the
correct size. My logic is that since each time you move the JSplitPane
the JTree paint() method is invoked the renderer can return the
correct JPanel with the correct size that will be painted then in the
screen.
My problem: Doens't work. When I render the tree, the renderer is
invoked, but it doesn't change its size (I can change the color based on the width, but not the node size). Only when I collapse & expand a node, it correctly takes into account the .setPreferredSize() and returns the JPanel with the correct size.
The only way I found to update the tree involves to catch the
JSplitPane event and call updateUI() in the tree, something that, I
think, it's certainly not the correct way to do it.
Any explanation of why this doesn't work would be really great. Any
pointer to a web resource explaining in deep how Swing components work (specially the JTree) would be a godsend.
Thanks,

Display data in pop-up graph window
I am trying to display data continuously in a pop up chart. When I press a button the chart should pop up and show all the previous values as well as those being continuously generated. If possible I want to do this without using local or global variables. This question was asked before too at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=315949&query.id=9049787#M315949 but I was unable to understand the proposed solution. I am a civil engineer, meaning it will be difficult for me to understand advanced concepts and at times even simple concepts related to computer programming. I have attached two VIs just to illustrate what I am trying to do.

As for the Untitled06, when I was trying them in my computer I had named it "Untitled06" but when uploading to this

What I was asking is, if it was possible to
acquire data using one VI and show any temporary graph/chart in a
separate subvi. I did it like attached. Seems like it will work for me.
smercurio_fc Thanks regarding the t0. I changed that in this version. Shipped LV examples haven't been a lot of help to me. Most of the time I cannot relate them to what I want to do. I generally prefer to use this forum.
Any other (obviously better) solutions? then please do let me know. The only requirement is that chart should appear in a separate VI, it is just a temporary chart and I do not want it to take up space in my main VI front panel.

Display Data on waveform chart or XY graph over a long period of time
Display Data on waveform chart or XY graph over a long period of time
Can anyone help?
I am acquiring data from an Ni DAQ card with the following parameters - sample rate = 12800, number of samples = 4096. I want to extract order information so as to track changes in the amplitudes of certain frequency harmonics. So I use the sound and vibration toolkit to extract this information as shown in the attached Vi. I will like to plot the resulting amplitudes against real-time starting at the time the Vi was run. I really want the display to show these changes over long periods (eg. days, months and even years).
Problem.
I have tried to plot the Y component of the resulting magnitude for a given order on a waveform chart. My choice of the waveform chart is because I also want to display alarm limits (using the mask and limit vi) (I can't have these lines displayed on an XY graph plot). I tried adjusting the scale offset using the property node and setting the offset to current time. However, the display on the X-axis can only show a span of 2 minutes as will be seen when you run the attached vi. I want the time display on the x-axis to be over a period of days, months and even years. Is there a way to set the maximum scale on the x-axis to be say a year or so in future.
I really want the display to be like the one in in the second attachment.
Attached is a sample VI created using an Ni USB 9234 DAQ card. Any card will do but I am only getting the signal from one channel for this example
I will appreciate any help that can be given to me.
Thanks

Real-Time Graph Display.vi 170 KB
Sampe screen1.doc 37 KBLong term testing can be tricky- and we'l get into that later. Lets start with the basics that you have wrong.
The vi as you have constructed it has only one memory element, the chart history length (default is 1024.)
You can change the number of points the Chart will remember by Right-clicking the chart an select Chart History Length from the menu.
But for a long term test - and one where you want to REMEMBER the first value you need a memeory element that is independant of the application. Your PC WILL loose power or need to be rebooted eventually. Heck it might even need to be replaced! you really need to store your data in a file. Preferablly in a file that is backed-up on a regular basis so you don't lose every point of data if the PC dies. It realy hurts when you have to restart a 2yr test because you've lost the 18months of data you collected.
For an application like this I would seperate my "collection" and "Evaluation" operations.
Have one vi that takes the reading and writes it to a file at a configurable rate You may want 1reading per minute for seveal days then 1 per hour for a few weeks- then maybe only once or twice a week for the next couple of years since you are looking for LONG TERM stability. having too much data to evaluate can take a lot of digging to find the few things that interest you (but always take more that you think you need)
Have another utility that COPIES the files, reads them and displays the data you are interested in that day. The data you want to look at won't change over time HOWEVER, you WILL want to analize it in different ways depending on what the data trends look like. Having seperate routines for collection and display allows you to update the display style and analisys without even stopping the collection vi (much less editing the vi)

How to display data in table with dynamic rows, section wise in a page.
Hello all,
I work on report creation in BI Publisher where I need to display data from xml in a table in pdf format. The output page is divided into two vertical sections , containing tables, with exactly same columns on left and right sections. The number of rows in table depends on the output of the fetching query. The page is to be populated in such a way that, at first, the left table is populated, then the next rows fill up the table on the right section of the page, if more rows are left, they fill up the tables on next page[first the left table, and then the right one, in a similar fashion as in page 1]
On a bird's eye view, the data needs to be simply mapped to a table, with dynamic number of rows, and so can span number of pages depending on size of data. On a implementation level, I am stuck in getting the left section of the page populated first, then the right section[in place of the right page], and then the next page.
Please guide me if someone has any idea in getting this achieved.
Thanks in advance. Thanks for the response...
I am able to get the desired functionality. I just need the tables to be inside a bigger table, that also has a dividing line between the two columns. This is was is intended in the req. provided to me. The column formatting option provides me a line ,but that is not further modifiable .Please help me in getting a perpendicular line between the two columns, which I need to be of a specified width and color. -
How can I read and display data with OR without recording at the same time?
Hi all,
This forum has been of much help to me, but I have a rather specific question I can't seem to find an answer to. I am new to LabView, educating myself with tutorials, trial and error, and this forum.
Attached is what I have so far. I would like to read data (three voltages) and write it to an excel file. As written below, it will do nothing until I click the "Record" button, when it then takes data, displays it on the gauges and waveform chart, and writes it to a file. What I would like it to do is display the data at all times, and record when I click the record button (while still displaying data being read). I have tried to do this by moving the DAQ Assistant VI, gauges, and waveform graph outside of the loops, but when I do this, it will read until I press record, and then it simply records whatever value it's stuck on. Sorry for the long post, thanks for any help.

Record and Write to File 2.vi 332 KBSorry, I don't have any DAQ installed, so I won't comment on the DAQ parts.
First of all, Your VI will do nothing until you (1) first set the record button to ON and (2) press the start button in the tool bar. It almost seems that you are using the "continuous run" button. (Don't! That's not its purpose. Basically, it automatically restarts the program whenever it finishes). A toplevel VI should never stop during normal operation, so place a big while loop around all code and create a wait state that does nothing until you tell it to acquire.
You don't need the inner while loop, simply place your code inside the big while loop (and accumulate your array data in an initialized shift register if really needed. Currently you do at the inner loop boundary for some reason). You have a big problem that the array can grow without bounds unless you clear the accumulated data once in a while or place it in a FIFO buffer of limited size. If you let ot grow forever like you do now, the program might run out of resources at one point in the future.
Since you are appending to your file, maybe yo don't need any shift register, just use the data points of the current iteration. Place your save operations in a case structure and keep appending the new data to your file only if the case is true.
It is also very inefficient to use highlevel file IO here, because each instance opens and closes the file. I recommend to open the file once outside the loop, then use low level IO to append, and close the file once the big loop is done.

Problem with chart displaying data correctly
I have created a bar chart that displays data for each day of the month. The majority of the time this chart displays the information corrrectly. However now and again the bars of the chart appear much larger than they should meaning that instead of showing 30 or 31 seperate bars it can only display half that amount due to the increased size of the bars. If you display the same chart again then the problem will often disappear.
I am using Coldfusion MX 7 version 7.0.2 Enterprise Edition. Ihave installed all the latest updates up to Cumulative Hot Fix 3.Hi,,
I have checked that the data being passed is correct and it seems to be. Chart code below.

Hello, one of our customers just encountered an execution error in a vi running under LabVIEW 6.1, which doesn't exist under LabVIEW 5.1 or 6.01. I have a simple vi that has two encapsulated For Loops. Two string arrays go in, one goes out of the outer loop. Inside the outer loop the first array is indexed. The string which results from this indexing is compared with all other strings from the second string array in the inner loop. If it matches one of the strings of the second array, it is not outputted, otherwise this string goes through the inner For Loop to the output of the inner loop and from there to the output of the outer loop. The count
terminal of the outer/inner loop is connected to the Array Size of the first/second string array. If the second array is empty, that means that the element in test from the first arry cannot match anything from the second array, so the element in test is send to the output of the inner loop and from there to the output of the outer loop. This works fine in LabVIEW 5.1 and 6.01, but NOT in LabVIEW 6.1. In LabVIEW 6.1 the inner loop is never executed if the count value is zero (which is correct), but the data line running through the loop is not executed either, which is different to what LabVIEW 5.1 and 6.01 do. There, the input string is sent to the output of the inner loop correctly even if the loop counter is zero. The solution is easy - I just have to connect the output of the outer loop to the data line BEFORE it enters the inner loop. But: I don't know if this is a LabVIEW 6.1 bug or if it is supposed to be a feature, but it brings some incompatibility in programming between the
different LabVIEW versions.
Best regards,
GabsiHi,
When a for-loop runs zero times, all outputs are 'undefined' (and should
be).
Besides, how would LV know what the output of a not executed routine should
be?
It might be handled differently in LV5 and LV6, which is unfortunate. In
both cases, the result is undefined.
It's not a bug. It's just something that should be avoided in any LV
version.
> The solution is easy - I just have to connect the
> output of the outer loop to the data line BEFORE it enters the inner

In some cases this does the trick. But if the data is changed in the inner
loop, this will effect the results if the N is not zero.
Technically, I think the output in this construction is also 'undefined'.
But LV handles this as expected / desired.
Another solution is to use a shift register. If N is zero, the input is
directly passed through to the output.
Regards,
Wiebe.

Want to display data in receipt form in Smartforms
Hi friends,
I want to display data in receipt form in smartforms....Format is given below:
Name : [fieldname1]
number : [fieldname2] country code : [fieldname3]
n so on....It should display 1 record on one page and so on.......how can i go about it....
Regards,
VijayaHi Vijaya,
First, you need to design the lay-out for your pages.
Say for example in your case you take a window XYZ (variable type) to print:-
Name : fieldname1
number : fieldname2 country code : fieldname3
Now you have some amount of data for this detail.
Say you print this data in a table.
After the last node for printing data, insert a command line under the last node (in main area of the table control).
And on the next page use the same MAIN window (or use next page of PAGE1 as PAGE1).
In other way, if you are printing a single record on a page.
Then this can be done by simply taking a loop statement in the main window of the page followed by text-fields (from internal_table into work_area).
Under the loop statement, in these text-fields you can simply print your data (using the work area) :-
Detail 1 : &wa-field_name&
and so on....
After the last detail (node), insert a command line and write 'NEW-PAGE'.
This will break your control on to next page and eventually one records will be printed on a single page.
Hope this solves your problem.
Thanks & Regards.

How to change font while displaying data through an ALV table in WDA?
Hi all,
I am displaying data through and ALV table. Now I want to change the FONT only for few rows. Is this possible?
If so then do the needful to me..
Thanks & Regards,
Yugesh A.I believe as you have found 'LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE' would only work with the classic dynpro (SAPGUI based) version of the ALV.
You won't be able to control the font the same way in the WDA version of the ALV. You will need to create a custom cell editor for the column(s) in question. You can then bind context attributes to the properties of the cell editor. You will need extra attributes in your bound context to control these settings on the row level. Also you will be restricted by the changing the DESIGN property. This means only the values allowed for the DESIGN of the particluar UI element. For a TextView that wouldn't be the font directly (the font of course comes from the Theme).
