Nokia 822

I just started using the Nokia Lumia 822, within two days it started to lock up and would not come out of the sleep mode. I had to reboot the phone by removing the battery and replacing it, three times now. What would cause this problem or am I doing something incorrectly?

The Nokia Lumia 822 has MANY issues!!!!  I have been dealing with IT for almost 2 months trying to get my Nokia to send texts and they tell me to do a work around by shutting the phone down and turn it back on, yeah like i want to do that every time!!!  I am getting no where with Verizon on this issue!!  This phone is garbage!!! And Verizon is no help!

  • Loss of emails on Nokia 822 when I open outlook on...

Hi Everyone, I know this is likely a real simple fix, but I cannot find the answer after a long search. My phone is the new Nokia 822 with the windows 8 o/s
I have a pop 3 account linked to my phone as well as my computer running outlook 2007. My computer is off all day, and my phone is on. I can receive e-mail on the phone durring the day, but in the evening, as soon as I open outlook, the mail will be removed from the phone. I really need to have my e-mails available all the time on both systems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    David

You're either deleting mail on the computer which will also delete it from the server and this from the phone or you have outlook set up to remove mail from the server when it has fetched the mail.

  • Nokia Suite and Nokia 822 Compatibility

Will Nokia Suite support the Nokia 822 phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No, it will not, and will not in the future. Nokia Suite is only for the Nokia phones that are not Windows Phone handsets.
There is a Windows Phone app in Windows 8 in the Store, and available for download for Windows 7 also. The Zune software is for older WP 7.5 devices and not WP8 devices.

  • Nokia 822 Calendar / E-mail Linking

Can someone tell me how I link the Nokia 822's Calendar to an e-mail account I have on my phone, and my WIN 7 PC?  I want to be able to update the Calendar on the phone or PC and have them synch.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

if you are using outlook on your win7 pc, and you have your live account on your device, go to:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=24677
this will download and install a Hotmail/Outlook sync connector. it will allow you to sync your mobile devices with your outlook as if it was an exchange account. this would include your email, calendar and contacts.
before you do this, you will of course have to have a live/Hotmail/outlook.com email account.
after installation on your pc, you will be asked for the Hotmail account login info.
then it should auto-link to your device.
this of course only works for live/Hotmail/outlook.com email addresses, but that doesn't mean you have to use that email on your phone. just use it to sync your contacts and calendar and use that as the default on your device.
    hope that helps.

  • Nokia 822 receving group text from an I phone?

Everyone in my office has an iphone including my boss.  When he sends out a group text I do not recive it because I have a Nokia 822 Windows phone.   Im affraid he is going to make me switch to an iPhone if i do not resolve the issue.  I have already stopped into the Verizon branch where i bought it and they suggest that i make sure he has I messenging turned off.  Still Dosnt work.  Stopped back in the branch and they informed me that It cannot be done.  Does anyone have a Answer to this.  Is this True am i going to have to suffer with an Iphone because my boss has one?

What is he using to send group text? If it is a standard group text, you should be able to receive the message. If he is using iMessage, obviously you won't receive it and there is no work around for that.

  • Which account should I use to set up Nokia 822 and...

Thank you in advance for your help.
I recently bought the Lumia 822 and set it up under my personal outlook.com account.  I also have two Microsoft 365 Exchange accounts which I synchronized to the phone, in addition to a few gmail accounts used for different purposes.
I had no problem importing contacts using the Nokia data transfer from my iPhone 4, but had trouble with importing and continuing to syncrhonize the calendar.  With the iPhone, my calendar and contacts were continuously syncrhonized with Outlook 2010 on my PC via iCloud and I could add appointments either place.  With the Lumia, my calendar is not being syncrhonized on my macbook (using Office for Mac 2011) or iCal.  I'm wondering if the problem there is that outlook.com accounts can only be added to the Mac as pop3 accounts, rather than exchange.  Because of the inability to sync those accounts with my mac or iPad, I'm thinking I should reset my phone and use my business account as my Nokia/Microsoft account, since it is an exchange account through Microsoft 365.  Do you think that would work?  I didn't want to do that originally because my 365 account is a yearly license and expensive and I might choose not to renew one year and then be faced with losing everything I've put on my phone.  Any ideas how I should set up my phone so that it syncs with all devices the way the iPhone did?  I had an iphone weekly calendar app which allowed me to add appointments as work, home, for my son, etc.  Very helpful.  I'd like to be able to keep the same categories.
Another problem - all of my contacts are listed under People on the phone, but most of them are not accessible in my car.  How can voice dial not access all my contacts?  Or do you think that is a car issue and I should try to import my contacts again?
Finally, any idea where I can buy a  second battery?  The battery life is very poor (might because I have so many email accounts, but most of them are set to either check manually or every two hours), despite my having read and followed the suggestions in this forum.
FYI, there are so many things I love about the phone - spellcheck almost as good as the BlackBerry, a screen I can see easily, the ablity to use it with gloves on, the microsd card (still, I wish it came as a 32gb phone), the replaceable battery.
Thanks again for your help.  I'm thinking I set my phone up wrong and that I should start with scratch using one of my other accounts.  Ideally, I'd like to keep it under my outlook.com account, but not if I can't synchronize the calendar, etc.

When it rejects your email is it telling you that a snapfish account may exist? If so you may have to go to snapfish.com, and do a forgot password with that email. After that try logging in to eprintcenter with that information.

  • Nokia 822 ERROR: Unable to find bootable option.

My 822 now says, "ERROR: Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shut down."
This occurred earlier today immediately upon installing a Verizon update. The phone worked perfectly before the update.
What is going on? I certainly am not going to accept responsibility for this failure, or replacing this phone.
Before you ask, the phone is in perfect condition otherwise. Never dropped. Never seen even a drop of water (or any other liquid).
One thing peculiar I did notice was that the update took over an hour to download, which seems like quite a long time considering data transfer rates.
    So, what can be done?
    To recap:
    1) My phone worked perfectly. It was in perfect condition.
    2) An update was installed (which Verizon recommended (and I'd go as far as to say forced))
    3) Now the phone is completely inoperable, only giving the error message listed above.
    Help please?

Hi Joel, the sim card has been removed and reinstalled multiple times with no effect. And yes, only the the original Verizon software was on the device. To be clear, the phone was attempting to install a Verizon-forced update when it died. I would rather have not had the update because the phone was working perfectly, but Verizon does not give the option to decline updates, only delay them. It should be noted that with the help of Verizon associate (Lovesa) the Nokia Software Recovery Tool was attempted, but even that did nothing.
I have now done at least 8 hours of research on this and it is obvious this is a widespread and known issue with the 822. There appears to be absolutely nothing that can be done to revive the phone at this point. After viewing literally hundreds of posts on the "unable to find bootable option" error no one has found a fix. This issue is well documented.
Why Verizon would force an update that ruins users phones is beyond me. And to take no responsibility is, in my view (and most likely the law's view), criminal. To be completely honest and forthright, I am so upset about this situation Verizon is now losing a 15 year loyal customer.

  • Nokia 822 ERROR: Unable to find boot option

My 822 says "Error: Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shut down"
This happened last night after installing a Verizon update.  The phone worked prior to the update.  The phone quit working solely because of the update from Verizon.  What can be done to fix the phone?

        bjurstrs,
I am so sorry to hear that your device is no longer working after the update. Thanks for trying a factory reset. We should look into replacement options. Please private message us so we can review your account.

  • Nokia 822 People 'Listing' Issue

I am trying to sort my contacts in 'People' by Last Name, First without success. I have selected both  'Sort by Last Name', and 'Display names by Last, First' and the list still displays as 'First, Last'.  I double-checked my entries to make sure they are correct (i.e. Last name is in fact in last name field). Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I was able to 'fix' the issue by using Verizon's Backup Assistant Pro to back up my phone's contacts (PEOPLE) and then selecting each entry to be sorted 'Last Name , First Name' . This corrected the entries in the Backup Assistant app which then synced with my phone - correcting the entries on the phone. Thanks Verizon for a good tool. Consider this issue closed.

  • Nokia 822 dead

I need to know what I can do about my phone dying for no reason. Yesterday I was listening to music in my car and suddenly the phone froze then shut down. It would not turn on with a soft start, battery removal, or hard start. All that would happen is it would buzz then show the Microsoft cube. Once that shows it shuts off again. I then went to a  Verizon store for support. I explained the situation and I kept being asked repeatedly if I dropped it on the floor or in water. I started to get annoyed having to keep answering that question, since I had not. The worker Ted had no idea, he called Tech support and they seem to have no idea what is wrong with the phone. So what happens next...
My phone is one week past warranty and I do not have insurance, so Ted handed me my phone and said we don't know what's wrong with it.
Yep that was it, he actually believed that was an acceptable end of customer service. That is unacceptable. I have been with Verizon for a little short of TEN YEARS, I expect better customer service and at very least some type of solution to this phone problem. I understand that I don't have insurance but after doing a little research I find that the phone shutting off an freezing has been a problem with this phone. I am trying to understand how am I now responsible for a product that was defective from the beginning? If I bought a car and two years later the company discovers a defect, they send me a letter to have it checked out, and not at my expense.
One of the other workers even asked Ted if there was anything they could do since it had only been a week since my warranty was up, Ted ignored him. Not a good moment. The bad customer service continues on but I could be typing all day.
I would really like a response back, maybe there is a fix or solution to this problem. The experience I had yesterday made me tell the workers there that once my contract is up, I will be leaving Verizon.

I'm sorry about  your customer service experience MsgtP. You're right, you should be presented with options for your issue. Although, we are unable to replace the phone out of warranty we have other options. Since you performed all the steps for trouble-shooting that we would perform, the next best step is to replace the device. Since you're not eligible to upgrade or have insurance and you're not eligible to upgrade you can purchase a device with this program http://vz.to/16vfYHl . You can also buy a phone at full retail price. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns and thanks for being a long time customer.

  • Windows Live E-mail as Tile on Nokia 822?

Can someone please tell me how to create a Tile for my Live e-mail account?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have you added that e-mail account in your settings?  If you have look at the last paragraph, if not here is some direction:
    go to your Settings
    select "email+accounts"
    select "add an account"
Choose an account to add.  If you migrated your Live account to Outlook.com then choose "Outlook".  If not and you don't see what you need then choose "other account" and enter the email address and password.
Once you have added an account it should automatically get pinned to your start screen.  If for some reason it hasn't, from the start screen you can swipe left to see all apps.  Your new e-mail tile should be on there and you can pin it to the start screen.
I hope that helps.  I was able to get my hotmail account to work with Outlook which then allows me to sync email, contacts, calendar, and tasks with my phone.

  • 822 No Grey Wireless Charging Cover, only Black an...

Love my Grey Lumia 822. Was a little disappointed that the Wireless Charging Cover (which did not come with my phone), allows the device to use the Qi wireless charging pads only come in Black and White.  I got black, and now my phone is two-toned.  It is still a sharp looking phone, but would really like to have a Wireless Charging Cover in Grey.
Just a word of warning to any of you out there who have the grey phone.

Where did you buy it? I'm dissapointed, I was told before I bought the plate that the HTC and the nokia 822 both had the back included, and now my charging pad doesn't work. I can't find where to buy the dang thing. It sucks that they aren't clear about it. I guess they did trick me into buying it
