Non creatable class

Hi guys and gals,
I have a tangle of a mess here!  Let me start from the beginning.  I have a typelib on my computer called "xTInstrument component library version 1.0"  I opened the .dll containing the typelib in OLE/VIEW and discovered that the classes I need to use are "non-createable" coclasses mixed in with interfaces.  For example, the class I want to use is called "Electron Beam" and it has a property called "HV" which has a method called "SetTargetValue"  So I dropped an "Automation Open" vi on the block diagram and wired it all up.  When I go to run the program I get the following error "Class not registered in Test.vi"  To find out what dlls Labview was calling, I used Process Monitor and watched what it was looking for.  I found and registered all the dlls using "regsvr32.exe dll."  Now this is where it gets wierd.  After registering the dlls, the program still tripped the "Class not registered in Test.vi" error, so I decided to use Process Monitor to check what CLSID were being called.  I then searched my registry for the CLSID my LabVIEW program was calling.  I found all the CLSIDs except the ones from the non-creatable classes.  Is there anyway in LabVIEW to call these "non-creatable" classes?

Hi shivels,
I did some research into non-creatable classes and this is what I found out.  A non-creatable class (Microsoft terms them "PublicNotCreatable") is available externally but cannot be instantiated externally.  Instead, the object is instantiated indirectly though fucntions, such as a Get function.  The reasoning that I can see is that there may be dependencies on other objects so the order in which the objects are instantiated is important.  By making a class PublicNotCreatable, the developer can force the user to programmatically construct the objects through calling a Get method.
 I did uncover a Microsoft bug report regarding PublicNonCreatable classes:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244544.
Also, here is Microsoft's definitionhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa242107%28VS.60%29.aspx)
PublicNotCreatable means that other applications can use objects
of this class only if your component creates the objects first. Other
applications cannot use the CreateObject function or the New operator
to create objects from the class.
What I suspect in your situation is that the Electron Beam may be a PublicNotCreatable class object, so a get function would be required.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • "Abstract" method in a non-abstract class

    Hi all.
    I have a class "SuperClass" from which other class are extended...
    I'd like to "force" some methods (method1(), method2, ...) to be implemented in the inherited classes.
    I know I can accomplish this just implementing the superclass method body in order to throw an exception when it's directly called:
    void method1(){
    throw new UnsupportedOperationException();
    }...but I was wondering if there's another (better) way...
    It's like I would like to declare some abstract methods in a non-abstract class...
    Any ideas?

    The superclass just models the information held by
    the subclasses.
    The information is taken from the database, by
    accessing the proper table (one for each subclass).??
    What do you mean by "models the information"?
    You should use inheritance (of implementation) only when the class satisfies the following criteria:
    1) "Is a special kind of," not "is a role played by a";
    2) Never needs to transmute to be an object in some other class;
    3) Extends rather than overrides or nullifies superclass;
    4) Does not subclass what is merely a utility class (useful functionality you'd like to reuse); and
    5) Within PD: expresses special kinds of roles, transactions, or things.
    Why are you trying to force these mystery methodsfrom the superclass?
    It's not mandatory for me to do it... I 'd see it
    just like a further way to check that the subclasses
    implements these methods, as they have to do.That's not a good idea. If the superclass has no relation to the database, it shouldn't contain methods (abstract or otherwise) related to database transactions.
    The subclasses are the classes that handle db
    transaction.
    They are designed as a binding to a db table.And how is the superclass designed to handle db transactions? My guess (based on your description) is that it isn't. That should tell you right away that the subclasses should not extend your superclass.

  • Access a mc or textfeild from a non document class.

    Hey all.
    This use to be simple in as2, but seems to allude me from as3.  It used to be simple to access an object you put on the stage like a mc or dynamic text field by simply using _root.instanceName ect.  Now I see references to making references to the Stage and such like:
    private var stage:Stage;
    stage = stageRef;
    and I am still confused.
    What I have going on is, I have placed a movieclip on the stage in Flash and gave it an instance name of Cell_mc.
    I have a cusom class that extends MovieClip with the following imports
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.EventDispatcher;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.events.TimerEvent;
    import flash.utils.Timer;
    This Class is tied to a set of MovieClips in my Library.
    I have a listener: this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,pickUp);
    And a function:
    private function pickUp(event:MouseEvent):void
                      this.startDrag();
                      _interval = new Timer(100);
                      _interval.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,onInterval);
                      _interval.start();
    And

                      //Set up hit test
                      this.hitArea(Cell_mc)
                            trace("hit");
    I get the following error whenever I try to access an object I placed on the stage from anywhere other than the document class:
    1120: Access of undefined property Cell_mc.
    How do I access the cell_mc that is already on the stage from this non-document class?
    Thanks guys.

  • Can't access non ejb classes from JSP - NoClassDefFound error

              Hi,
              I have one session ejb which has a method returning a collection of non ejb class objects (say of Class 'Foo').
              The method signature is like :
              "Collection getFinacialData() throws RemoteException"
              It is working fine with normal java clients. Now when I run this from a JSP it gives a "NoClassDefFoundError". I kept class 'Foo' and the remote interface of the session bean in the same package and also in the same ejb jar file. Also I am running JSP and ejb in same WL server(ver 5.1, SP8 on solaris). What I have done is only deployed the bean jar file. Do I need to do anything more?
              thanks in advance.

    I ran into a similar problem. I solved it by putting the client classes for
              accessing my EJB in the WebLogic POST_CLASSPATH in the startWebLogic script
              file:
              set POST_CLASSPATH=d:\weblogic\myserver\myClient.jar

  • What is inserting the following code onto pages " div id="bikatoc" style="display: none;" a class="control" Close /a div class="toc" ul li class="toc-h2

    I am doing web development and when working with the wordpress dashboard tiny mce, each time I hit the update button the following piece of code is inserted into the page I am working on.

    Something is scanning the h1-h6 tags and creating a table of contents and inserting it into the page. This also happens when I use firebug on other random pages while using firefox.
    I have tried several other browsers to determine if this is a wordpress issue, but this only happens in firefox. It also only happens when I make changes with firebug in firefox. Using firebug lite in chrome did not cause this problem.
    I have been looking all over to figure out what is going on and why the is happening. It is making development near impossible and is forcing me to use a different browser (which I don't enjoy at all)
    Any help you can give me would be wonderful.
    Thank you for your help

    Is it always hidden with display:none?
    One standard diagnostic step is to try Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on.
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
    If the inserts stop, this points to an add-on as the problem. Figuring out which one it is would be the next step. (If the TOC is always hidden, perhaps it is something SEO-related.)

  • Retrieve ServletContext from non-servlet class

    A servlet calls a method which is located in another class which is not a servlet. Within this method of the non-servlet class, i need to access the ServletContext of the servlet that has called the method. What i am currently doing is simply passing the ServletContext as a parameter to the method.
    I would like to avoid passing the ServletContext all the time, so i'm wondering if it's possible, from the non-servlet class, to retrieve the ServletContext of the servlet which has called the method of the non-servlet class.

    Thanks J-Fine, that's a smart suggestion. BTW in the meantime i figured out that passing the ServletContext is not that bad idea, after all it reflects the structure of the app. However if i'll change my mind again i'll do like you suggested.

  • Add non-servlet class to Tomcat

    Hi,
    does anyone know, what I have to do, to be able
    to use a simple non-servlet class file in my
    jsp-pages.
    e.g.
    MyClass.class
    In my jsp page:
    <%
    MyClass m = new MyClass( );
    %>
    I was told that I simply have to put it in the
    web-inf/classes directory, but that doesn't seem
    to work ...
    Any help would be appreciated! Thanx. chris

    You need to use the "import" statement or else use the full class name. Also, some servers don't handle the default package well so you may want to try placing the class in a package.
    e.g. if class is mypackage.MyClass, it is placed in web-inf/classes/mypackage/MyClass.class
    In the JSP, code:
    <%@ page import="mypackage.MyClass" %>
    <%
    MyClass m = new MyClass();
    %>or you could use "useBean" to avoid scriptlets.

  • Previous unanswered Hot deploy of non EJB, non JSP classes

              Subject to my last post I've since seen my questions has appeared twice on this
              newsgroup, March 2001, and Nov 2000 and no responses to it those times. Aren't
              there BEA engineers reading this newsgroup who would know the answer to that question?
              http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=weblogic.developer.interest.jsp&item=3776&utag=
              http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=weblogic.developer.interest.jsp&item=5171&utag=

              Firstly I already did call BEA support before coming here, this is my last resort.
              I can't get a definitive answer from support. They were the ones that actually
              suggested to me that I post here in the first place. I did search the BEA edocs
              and couldn't find anything on it.
              Secondly, I am using WL 6.1 SP1, and in the thread just beneath this one, which
              I referred to directly in my opening post on this thread, I do mention this in
              the opening paragraph, in fact I give considerable detail.
              Thirdly, I never implied there was an onus on any BEA engineer to answer anything
              here. What I did mean was that given that they do read these posts and they do
              answer posts, I was merely a bit concerned that as I'm third person to ask, it
              would be strange to still get no response given that they answer other questions.
              I mean if they don't know, then who does? It's a real simple yes/no answer, it
              would take 5 seconds.

  • Custom non-PersistenceCapable classes used as keys in Maps and/or SortedMaps?

    Hi all,
    I need to support custom non-PC classes as keys in SortedMaps. It takes
    custom coding to the Kodo API right now, and before embarking down that
    road, I wondered if anyone out there has already done this and is willing
    to share that code.
    Thanks!
    --matthew

    Matthew-
    Can you just make the key implement Serializable and store it as a blob
    (which means that you will not be able to query against it), or do you
    have other restrictions?

  • Non serializable class in biztalk

    Is it possible to have a non serializable class in a biztalk application?
    Christiane

    Hi Christiane,
    Yes, it can be used in orchestration but in an atomic scope only.
    Steps to call a Non-Serializable .NET Helper Class inside an Expression Shape(The DLL that contains the class must be strongly signed and placed in the GAC):
     1.Add a reference to that class.
     2.Add an Atomic scope.
     3.Create an Orchestration variable of that class inside the scope.
     4.Create an instance on that object inside the scope.
     5.Call the method.

  • Question about access non-public class from other package.

    Hi, everyone!
    Suppose class A and class B are in the same java file of package pkg1
    -- A.java. So, A is a public class and B is a non-public class.
    If I want to access class B from another class class C and class
    C is in package pkg2. When compiling, an error occurs indicating
    that class B is not visible to class C.
    So, If I defined serveral classes in one java file and I want to
    access every class from other package. How should I do?
    (I think in one java file, there should be only one public class and
    only the public class can be accessed from other package.)
    Thanks in advance,
    George

    So, If I defined serveral classes in one java file and
    I want to
    access every class from other package. How should I
    do? As you already seem to know, there is at most one public class allowed per source file (at least, with javac and most popular compilers). So if you want more than one public class, you will need to use more than one file...

  • Read web.xml from a non-servlet class

    Hi all, I need to read the web.xml file fron a standard class in a web project.
    I know how to do it from a servlet or a jsp page, but is it possible to do from a non-servlet class?
    Thank you,
    Gabriele

    It's a XML file. So best approach would be to use some Java-XML API to parse the XML file into useable nodes. E.g. JAXP, DOM4J, JXPath, etc.

  • Display from non-MIDlet class?

    Display from non-MIDlet class?
    I havel a method in my main MIDlet that flashes up a message as an Alert:
    public void doAlert(String sAlertText) {
           Alert alSending;
           alSending = new Alert(null, sAlertText, null, AlertType.INFO);
           alSending.setTimeout(3000);
            m_display.setCurrent(alSending);
        }m_display is declared and instantiated in the main MIDlet:
    public class Boss extends MIDlet implements CommandListener {
            public static Display m_display;
            public Boss() {       /** Constructor*/
                    m_display = Display.getDisplay( this );
    }Now when I try to call this from another class:
         new Boss().doAlert("Eat lead, Bambi!");I get: "SecurityException: Application not authorized to access the restricted API". The same happens if I try to use a reference to a MIDlet, rather than to a Display. Apparently, you can't instantiate a MIDlet from with another MIDlet / class.
    So, how do you obtain a reference to the currently-running MIDlet or its Display from a different class?

    Thanks for your reply, but i finally solved it. I found a way of getting a reference to my MIDlet, so i had the control of its display.
    Maybe it could be a good idea having some classes to write to the cellular's screen without being a MIDlet, like System.out.* classes in traditional Java.
    See you.
    David.
