Non syncing WMA files.

I have been sucessfully downloading WMA files from my library up until now, when I updated to IOS5
My music library will still sync but the library books will not convert anymore.  They appear to be converting
with message confirming this but only appear as radom numbers in the books tab on the summary page.
I get a message when you click the warning triangle by your device on the i-Tunes page
"some of the items in the i-Tunes library were not copied to the ipod "lyn" because they cannot be played on
this ipod"
they could until yesterday.   Can anyone help.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you but I am experiencing the same problem. As soon as I try to add a file to the library it crashes. That is why I hate upgrading an old version that is working fine but I had to because of video.

  • Possible to convert DRM protected WMA files to mp3?

I've been attempting to find a relatively simple way of converting DRM-protected WMA files to mp3 using my Mac and can't seem to find anything. Surely somebody must have figured this out by now. I can convert non-DRM WMA files to mp3 using EasyWMA, but this does not work for WMA files with DRM protection.
I want to purchase songs from the 7digital store that are in the WMA format and have DRM protection, convert them to MP3 on my iMac, and then import them into iTunes. Seems like it shouldn't be that hard.
    Any suggestions?

iTunes Windows will convert non-DRM tunes into .mp3. If you have iTS purchases that have DRM you can burn them to an audio format CD as AIFF file format.
Check the terms of use and see what your options are for converting them to another format. With iTunes the path is to burn an audio CD. See if that is possible with the wma DRM.
Likely in your case you are trying to crack DRM outside the original terms of use when you purchased the tunes.

  • HT203128 I have wma files in my Finder. iTunes will not import them. Why?

I have wma music files in my Finder (imported from a windows computer via Dropbox). I would like to import them into my iTunes on my Macbook. Is this possible?

As Jim notes, if you have access to iTunes for Windows, it can convert them into AAC or MP3, and then you can use the resulting files on your Mac.
Alternatively, you can use a 3rd party Mac-compatible conversion program.  The most popular is EasyWMA.
Note that the above two approaches only work on non-protected WMA files.  If your files are protected, the only option is to use a Windows machine to burn them to audio CD, and then rip the CD on your Mac.

  • Can not find WMA files in iTunes, for borrowing library books with Overdrive Media Console

I have borrowed audiobooks from the library, using iTunes and Overdrive Media Console for years.  some months ago, I was suddenly unable to.  thought it was my old computer, so bought a new one.  took weeks to be able to get an upgrade from Windows, and when I was finally able to thought my troubles were over.
but, no,  now the Overdrive Media says it can not connect to iTunes.  someone at Overdrive said iTunes had to be the default player for WMA files, but I can not figure out how to make that happen, since there is nothing that looks like 'WMA files' anywhere on my computer.  any advice?  I can't afford to purchase audiobooks, and I really miss being able to borrow from the library.  this new computer has Windows 8 OS

There is a OneClickdigital ereader available in the App Store. Download that to your iPod to read pdfs and books from the library. And you might need to download the OneClickdigital eaudio player to listen to audiobooks from the library. Once both are downloaded sync you iPod again to transfer them.

  • AppleTV not showing non-synced content since upgrade to iTunes 8.1.0.52

Prior to upgrading to 8.1, my non-synced content showed on my AppleTV (when iTunes was open on my computer). Following the upgrade, the only content showing on the AppleTV is content that is synced to it.
iTunes can see the AppleTV and I can sync content to it. Under "Settings" for the AppleTV I have "Custom Sync" selected and the "Show only synced content on my AppleTV" box is not checked.
Any ideas how I can get non-synced content to show again in the AppleTV?

That's exactly what I did, it took ~20sec to complete the "apply to enclosed items" command (there was heavy disk access), but it does not improve. The permissions stay the same for the files/folders in question. It's very odd, have a look at the screenshot:
Some folders have correct permissions, others (to which I have no access through iTunes) show "admin" twice as the only user who is allowed to write. Repair permission does not help. I have hundreds of files/folders where permissions are wrong, only since the upgrade recently.

  • Zen Micro - copying WMA files with DRM using WM

I have Windows 98SE and Windows Media Player 9. I was wondering, if I get a Zen Micro, will I be able to use WMP 9 to copy DRM-protected WMA files to my device, or do I have to use the Creative software? I read in another post something about the 2.x branch of the firmware being needed for Plays For Sure compatibility -- does this mean I would need this firmware to use WMP? Does the 2.x firmware have the fixes for the battery drain problem, etc.
One more question. With my Muvo TX FM, Windows Explorer recognizes it as a removable dri've, and I can drag-and-drop non-DRM MP3s directly to it. Is this possible with the Zen Micro?
    Thanks,
    Huck

Think I will wait until they get it fixed.

  • Using WMA files with Mac OS 9

I've come across a bunch of WMA format files. I tried to open them with every tool I have (lots). But none would.
What app do you suggest for opening/converting WMA files?
    Gary

I actually had a copy of Windows Media Player on my computer. So I gave it a try.
It let me select a WMA file from its "Open File" dialog box but when I selected the WMA file, I got an error saying
"The channel does not support the stream format"
    and would not proceed.
So I guess I'm still looking.

  • WMA files won't go on itunes

    Hi,
I have all my videos in WMA format and it says on the itunes help thing that WMA files will work on it. But every time I try to drag the files onto it it wont even show them on there and just freezes or doesn't do anything. I looked on the properties and nothing seems different from the couple that would work on it, but now none of the videos will work anymore. which is very irritating.
    Any ideas? Thanks

What would you recommend me using? I tried the factory format one but it started randomly looking through my files and my Kaspersky anti-virus didn't like that too much. (As in it deleted it, quarantined everything it touched, and overly destroyed it got to love Kaspersky)
And on the itunes help it says you don't need to, but thats funny because WMA files don't seem to work on it. And online on help websites it says you don't need to.
    Thanks
    EDIT:
now it won't even let me add a couple videos off my youtube account. They are MP4's and it still won't let them work on it.

  • Handling WMA files on n

I download wma files to my MuVo N200 and although all the files appear on my explorer window, only certain files can be accessed on the device... the rest are just skipped over. All files were sync'd using Windows Media Player v9 and I can even play the files on my PC from the device explorer window. What gives?

also if you are using the shuffle feature, and have a lot of songs in different folders, many folders will be skipped for a long time, as I think there is something wrong with the n200 shuffle feature.
if you wanna listen to those songs in the folder, you have to access the folder directly and play the songs from there.

  • How to convert wma files for iTunes

I will appreciate any help from anyone who shows me how to play wma audio files in Itunes. I do not want to use an outside non-Apple  audio video converter. The quick time program plays the audio file but I do not know how to bring it in the Itunes Library.
    Thank you

    Converting WMA Files
In iTunes for Windows, you can convert your unprotected WMA files to AAC files (or whatever file format is chosen in the Importing pane of iTunes Preferences) without changing the original WMA file. Simply drag the WMA files into your library in iTunes and iTunes does the grunt work, converting them for you. Windows Media Player 9 or later must be installed to convert unprotected WMA files. Protected WMA files cannot be converted.

  • .wma file crashing finder

I can't open or even navigate to a .wma audio file without my finder crashing. I managed to almost get the Get Info to work, and it was halfway through opening the info before the finder froze, and crashed again.
Currently, my finder is non-existent, but Safari still works. I found a similar thread on Apple Discussions (where it was suggested that the Get Info be opened and "Open with" changed to Quicktime.
This is so weird. Not a biggie, but if there's some reason for this happening, I'd love to know why!
Edit: An online convertor doesn't even work, it can't seem to see the .wma file. So weird, I question Microsoft's conniving little schemes.

If EasyWMA converter doesn't work, it probably is a newer version, or has DRM applied to it, preventing conversion.

offer some other compatibility, but for everything else you have to install Windows on your Mac*:

  • WMA Files on Nano?

I was wondering if it was possible to use WMA files on the nano and how i put individual songs onto nano without syncing.
    Ty for the help

I was wondering if it was possible to use WMA files
on the nano and how i put individual songs onto nano
    without syncing.
nano doesn't support "WMA" files...Here's what it supports:
    http://support.apple.com/specs/ipod/iPodnano_secondgeneration.html
    AAC (16 to 320 Kbps),
    Protected AAC (from iTunes Store),
    MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps),
    MP3 VBR,
    Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4),
    Apple Lossless,
    AIFF, and
    WAV
Your second question: you set, in iTunes, to "manually manage music"

  • Importing WMA files from an Olympus Voice Recorder

I am considering the purchase of a digital voice recorder, possibly one of the inexpensive WMA recorders from Olympus.
I would like to be able to import the voice recording files onto my Mac, possibly for editing them in Garage Band. I may make podcasts or other voice-message multi-media projects out of the recordings.
I heard in another forum that the WMA files may be problematic to import onto my Mac. Does anyone know what the issues are? What are the possible fixes? Any freeware that can convert these kinds of files to something useful on the Mac?
A couple of possibilities I'm looking at for handheld voice recorders:
Olympus VN-6200 PC (nice deal on this model on the web)
    http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1459
Olympus DS-40 (I found a nice deal on this one as well)
    http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1277
    Thanks in advance,
    --WA

The primary issue is that Mac OS X does not natively support WMA, so you will have to convert the WMA files to another format before they can be played. Possibilities for conversion include EasyWMA or QuickTime Player and the Flip4Mac import codec (not the free version).
I'm not aware of any freeware for Mac that can convert WMA, though I can't say that none exists.

  • Unsuccessful at taking wma file and converting for DVD playback

So my wife made a slideshow using Microsoft Movie maker. This program only will save the project for playback on your computer or emailing. So we ended up with a wma file. I took this into Premier Pro then exported to the encoder. I picked NTSC high quality and MPG2-DVD format. I picked dvd for multriplexing although I don't know what that does, I took the mpg quality slider from 4 to 5, and finally changed the audio to dolby digital. I end up with 4 files one is an m2v which I try and burn to dvd using the window burn dvd window but it will only play via my computer DVD drive.

    Steve,
It sounds like Windows Movie Maker Live was used. The regular WMM will Export to DV-AVI Type I, which will Import into PrPro much better.
I would recommend converting the WMA/WMV to DV-AVI, and Importing that into a DV NTSC (if you are in NTSC-land) Project.
Then, you would use Encore to do the DVD authoring. There are several ways to get the material on your Sequence into Encore. ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) is probably the easiest way to do this.
What is your exact workflow from PrPro, into Encore?
What brand of blank media are you burning the DVD to?
This ARTICLE will give you some tips.
Good luck, and let us know a bit more,
    Hunt
PS - Multiplexing is the function of combining the Audio and the Video into one file. There are usually two choices, "None" and then often "DVD." For None, you will get two separate files - one for the Audio and one for the Video. With "DVD" you should get a muxed (combined) file. Actually, the separate Audio and Video is the preferred way, if one is doing an Export from PrPro, and then an Import to Encore. One would Import the Video into Encore as a Timeline, and the Audio as an Asset. In Encore, just drag the Audio file from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place.
