Nook HD+ issues

I just bought a Nook HD+ on Thursday and can not get Adobe Flash Player installed. Help!

It appears for the standard way you must use it like an eReader for Adobe DRM books;
authorize the Nook via ADE,
download them to ADE then transfer them.
See http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-get-adobe-digital-editions-and-overdrive-fo.h tml
You may be able to download other eReader apps such as Bluefire, Aldiko or Overdrive, which can be authorized directly from within the app.
Quite a few people have had authorization issues with Aldiko and Overdrive.

  • Outgoing mail on Nook Tablet issues

My wife's new Nook tablet receives emails through the nook email app fine but she cannot send. We have Yahoo Verizon and I've tried port 25, 587 and one other I spotted in another post. Just get a Connection Error.  Also her deleted mails just sit in her Trash.
Any ideas? I can't find another Nook Tablet mention.
    Thanks

  • Ipad2 and Nook app issues

Why do I have to log out of my nook app every time I purchase a new book, then have to RE-download every book in my library? Am I asking too much to make this simple?

Ask the people who make the Nook app.

  • Problems after re-authorizing

After re-authorizing ADE 2.0 (after re-installing Win7) I have no problems with newly downloaded content.
But I have two problems with ebooks previously downloaded:
    1. A book I finished reading cannot be returned to the Overdrive supported library. It says that the authorization is wrong.
    2. A book I downloaded from the Overdrive library on an unauthorized version won't copy to my Nook. It says I don't have authorization for the device. Newly downloaded content copies to the Nook without issue. I tried removing it from the library then deleting the book from the My Digital Editions folder and then re-downloading it from Overdrive. Overdrive won't let me download it saying it was previously loaned under a different authorization.
Are there any remedies for these? The two books are going to sit until my loan period expires. So everyone suffers.
I thought re-authorizing made everything the same? Apparently not. If not, what use is it? I'm sure that others have need to reinstall Window from time to time, either due to crashes, a new PC, etc. If these things happen while ebooks are on loan and re-authorization doesn't make everything the same then those books are useless.
Can someone explain how all this works? Are the authorizations in the ebook files or elsewhere?  Does Overdrive record the PC authorization when a book is loaned? I'll be contacting my library's help desk about the Overdrive issue.
    Thank you.

Library loans usually follow this script:
You go onto the library's website, and log in with your user ID and
    password.
You find an ebook that you want to read, and mark it on the library site so
that they 'loan' it to you.  Your user ID, date of loan and date due to be
'returned' are appended to the ebook.
The library software then sends a small file to your computer, and attempts
to activate ADE.  If it's successful, you'll get a screen asking you to
'OPEN' or 'SAVE' the ebook on your computer.
You choose one of the options, ADE opens and acts according to your
choice.  If your choice is 'OPEN', then the ebook will open in Reading
mode, but won't be saved to the library.  If you choose 'SAVE', ADE will
put the ebook into your library, but won't open it.
What gets messed up is on your computer.  If you have registered with
Adobe, and downloaded ADE with your Adobe ID, then ADE will be 'keyed in'
on that ID, and will use it when processing ebooks that you download.  If
you have registered your ereader with its parent site, then the ereader can
be used with ADE.  It helps a LOT if your ereader is registered with your
    Adobe ID.
If you've manipulated an ebook with an unregistered copy of DE, then you're
going to have issues related to authorization.  And that becomes even worse
    with loaned library ebooks.
There's no easy way out.  ADE keeps track of stuff it works on and uses
your ID to do that.  If you haven't authorized ADE with your Adobe ID, then
whatever ID has been used is used to track the stuff.  That could be the
one from the library or possibly the one from your ereader, depending on
    how you've done this.  It's a mess.
There are instructions in the ADE help file on how to do this the right
way, but they may not help you now.....

  • DRM issue on Nook HD+

I need help with DRM issue on Nook HD+. I have read and tried to use Digital Editions.  Books a million sold me the Nook and sent instructions on how to install on my Ereader.

You can probably transfer files by 'sideloading'.
Make sure the reader program on the Nook is registered with the same Adobe ID as you ADE on the PC.
If you can't get that to work, try downloading the Bluefire app to the Nook and registering that with your Adobe ID.
Use ADE to download the files and arrange the DRM aspects (getting the .acsm file initally then downloading the appropriate DRM .epub file).
Use a file manager (such as Windows explorer) to copy the .epb files from the PC to the Nook.
You should then be able to read them on the Nook using the reader program or Bluefire as in steps 1/2.
If the books are not DRM, no need to use ADE (though you can if you like).  Just get the books by whatever means onto the PC and copy them to the Nook.
You may find Calibre and excellent program to help download/manage/transfer to Nook non-DRM books .
If the books are library books, you can install the Overdrive app on the Nook.  That app will let you borrow, download and read library books directly on the Nook without needing a PC/Mac at all.

  • Help with the error message that ADE is not allowed to copy a book onto my Nook. I have tried authorizing and unauthorizing many times--at wits end with this issue.

Help with the error message that ADE is not allowed to copy a book onto my Nook. I have tried authorizing and unauthorizing many times--at wits end with this issue.

I too am having the same problem. I have a new hard drive that was imaged from the old one and I'm trying to side load a book to my Nook Simple Touch.. I first installed ADE 4 then borrowed and downloaded a book from Overdrive. I tried a few times to delete and reauthorize both the computer and the Nook and each time I get an authorization error when I try to side load the book. I then found on the Nook forum that the Simple Touch and ADE 4 don't get along. So I uninstalled ADE 4 and installed ADE 3.
I then followed this recommended procedure found on the forum: I deleted the Digital Editions folder from my Nook, launched ADE 3 and authorized the computer, then connected the Nook. For a few seconds, hovering the mouse over the setting icon for the Nook displayed everything on the context menu grayed out. But then it showed the context menu and I was able to display the Nook's authorization, which was the same as the computer's. Still get the same error side loading the book. Deleting and reauthorizing doesn't help.  And the Digital Editions folder is still missing from the Nook.

  • Issue loading books onto a Nook.

I've used Adobe Digital Editions for quite some time with no problems on my Nook. This is the first time I've encountered this problem. When I purchased a book on the Kobo website and attempted to download it this popped-up: Error getting license - License server communication problem. Hope someone can help with this one. Thanks!

  • I can no longer read any material in nook for mac. I have a macbook pro running lion. I used to be able to but something changed and i can no longer read it. any help?

I have nook for mac loaded on my macbook pro. When I try to open a book or magazine nothing happens. I`ve downloaded the nook program twice thinking it was a bad download but to no avail. Any help?

I found the following suggested fix, posted by a user on Barnes & Noble's site:
    1. Create a folder in your Applications folder, call it: NOOKforMac
Once you've done this, copy the Nook app to this folder. This should allow the app to run on the 1st or possibly second attempt to launch it.
    2. Once you're done using the app always quit it by clicking on the X (red in some cases) button of the application window (upper left hand corner)
This seems to have resolved the issue and my guess is that somehow the .dmg volume path is somewhere hard coded in the app configuration.

  • Nook not recognized on desktop

After loading Lion, my destop can't detect my nook when usb-d.  I can't drag and drop my public library books int.o Adobe Digital Editions.  I took the nook down and rebooted it completey, but the macbookpro still doesn't see it on the desktop, nor can I find it in the "Finder"  I deleted the Adobe and redownloaded it, but that didn't seem to do anything either.

Hey guys, I recommend anyone experiencing this issue to check this thread out, it may help you for now, until they get a proper driver software release, but in the mean time we should also keep reminding them is their duty to provide full support for both architectures.
To be honest, RIM has disappointed me big time, It is not like we got the smartphones for free, we paid $$$ for them and got them only because we needed something to help us be more productive, not something that just keeps putting obstacles and impairing our productivity.
Well, I think I've learned my lesson, and regret my choice , but wait...  next time I'm getting an IPhone!!!.
Hope this helps  with your problem (at least for now).

  • Nook simple touch

i have nook simple touch activated and connected to pc, when i open adobe, it shows the nook and my library books, but if i click/drag book to nook, it shows the red no symbol, and will not tranfer  the book, how do i fix it, or get the book onto my nook?

Assuming that you have got the computer activated and the books downloaded to the computer:
The Nook may have got half activated.  In that case, deactivate it using ctrl-shift-E while in Library view ADE with the Nook plugged in.
Then restart ADE (maybe not needed) and try to activate the Nook again.
If it is the computer that won't activate, similar story.
Use ctrl-shift-D in ADE library view to deactivate the computer.  Restart ADE and reactivate the computer.
If you still have issues, try using the older more reliable ADE 1.7.2 instead.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • I successfully downloaded an EPUB book, but it won't let me read it on my NOOK, why?

I borrowed a book from my library's online eBook selection and successfully got it to ADE. After that I finally got it to my NOOK. Then when I opened it it said: Error Dialog User not activated. Is it because either my computer or NOOK is not authorized? If so I already authorized by computer and I'm not sure about my NOOK but it does show up in ADE. Please help!

If that doesn't work , try this (it has a few more extra steps)
    1) plug in your nook via USB and delete the digital editions folders.
    2) properly eject and unplug your nook from your computer.
    3) uninstall ADE and then reinstall ADE from the website (surprise! there is a 2.0 version out there...this is the underlying issue, i think)
    4) delete any library books from ADE but don't return them (right click on the books and say remove from library  don't use the return feature.  if you return them, you'll have to reborrow.  deleting them doesn't do anything except dissassociate them from ADE. i read somwhere that the next step wipes out the lending info from ADE, so i did this just in case that meant it would return my items.  this step may be entirely unnecessary, but better safe than sorry).
    5) once you open the new version of ADE, hit control+shift+d.  it will ask you if you want to erase your previous authorization FOR YOUR COMPUTER. you do, so say yes.  once you remove your previous authorization for your computer, then go to help...authorize computer.  put in your adobeID information.  this will reauthorize your computer to use ADE.
    6) plug in your nook via USB.  once you see it appear in the ADE bookshelves, clik on the little gear icon (settings) and click on authorizedevice.  it'll reauthorize your nook with the new nook software version andthe new ADE software version.
    7) redownload your library books (if you followed step 4) and transfer them to your nook as usual.

  • Program crashes when I try to load EPUB/ASCM ebook file or transfer the file to Nook ereader.

I recently checked out an ebook from my library's OverDrive and downloaded the EPub file to my Mac OS 10.10.1 computer. File downloaded to computer without incident, showing up as a acsm file in my Downloads folder. But when I attempt to open the file in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2 in order to transfer it to my Nook ereader, a message comes up saying it is fulfilling (similar to normal) but then the program crashes.
    I get this error message:
    (Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more
detailed information and send a report to Apple.
With buttons that say: Ignore    Report     Reopen)
Then when I reopen Adobe Digital Editions, it appears as thought the file is in the Adobe Digital Editions browser, but if I click on it to open it or try and transfer it to my Nook ereader device the program crashes again. (Same error message)
I've tried erasing the file and redownloading the ebook from Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox and the same thing happens. I've also tried restarting my computer and looking for updates to resolve the issue (there were none). I've used this program before with no issues, so this problem is new. I've also tried opening other files since, they most of those seem to open as well.I've used this program before with no issues, so this problem is new.
Running out of ideas. Please help!

Mike, that worked -- I think! I couldn't change the printer without a document open, but while I was in the File menu, I noticed the "Browse in Bridge" command, and it occurred to me that I hadn't tried opening a file from Bridge. It opened first to the templates, and I realized I had not tried opening a template. So I did, that worked, and I changed the printer from where it was set (Adobe pdf) to my regular printer. Now I can create new files, and all files seem to open without a problem. Thanks!

  • I have 2 devices, and I inadvertently set up a new account on one.  Now I can't download books that are on my Nook to my Android G3 and vice versa.  I can't remember the login for the nook.  How can I change it?

I inadvertently set up a new account on an android and it doesn't match the ID for a Nook.  I cannot share library books between the devices, and I can't remember the login I used for the nook.  The nook books appear on my bookshelf from the library, but when I try to download to my android, it won't allow it as it is set up as a different account.  The library can't help me and Barnes & Noble can't help me.  I need support from Adobe to fix my login.
