Not able to attach .zip files in mails in latest safari on yosemite

Safari in yosemite is not taking the .zip / .numbers / .xls files for attachment. Giving empty file error.

Hi ..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click:  Remove All Website Data
No open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Not able to unarchive .zip files

I can't unzip .zip archives after the last updates. seems strange when all worked well before the update and the updates only effected iTunes and Quicktime. I reintstalled the system and had the same problems.. unarchiving starts and locks up when using the finder and when using Stuffit expander.
    I'm using OSX 10.3.9
any ideas how to fix this?

    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Geidden
    Welcome to Discussions.
The file you are trying to unzip may be corrupted.
Can you unzip something else that has unzipped in the past?
It is a good idea to run Repair Permissions before and after an update. You could run Repair Permissions now.
Open Stuffit Expander , found in Applications/Utilities and in the menubar, iSupport, select Check for Updates. I am not sure what the latest version is for 10.3.9, but perhaps it needs to be newer to match your other updates.
But, it is likely a bad zip file that is causing this.
If you are familiar with Terminal you could create a zipfile and then see if Stuffit will unzip it. If you are not familiar with terminal, than I may rue that suggestion

  • Cant attach zipped file

With the guidence of Matt Broughton, my project is screeds ahead of where it was yesterday, but!, as thier always is, ive got one last snag,
File zips up great, but I cant figure how to select it to attach to my mail.
Can select the origional file but all combinations ive tried result in the zipped file not attaching to the out going mail. Ive left the script.
    Any help appreciated.
    --ZIP ME UP--
    on clicked theObject
if name of theObject is "zip" then
set fileChoice to choose file without invisibles
set fileChoice2 to quoted form of POSIX path of ¬
    fileChoice as string
set zipFile to (fileChoice & ".zip") as string
set zipFile to quoted form of POSIX path of ¬
    zipFile as string
    do shell script ¬
    "/usr/bin/ditto -c -k -rsrc " & fileChoice2 & " " & zipFile
    end if
    --ATTACH ZIPPED FILE TO MAIL--
    set theAttachments to (fileChoice)
    tell application "Mail"
    activate
    set newMessage to make new outgoing message with properties {content:return & "Attachment: " & return}
    tell newMessage
    set visible to true
    tell content
if ((count of item of theAttachments) > 0) then
    repeat with theAttachment in theAttachments
make new attachment with properties {file name:((theAttachment as text) as alias)} at after the last paragraph
    end repeat
    end if
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    end clicked
    Budgie

    Budgie,
    I missed the curly brackets.
    It should be: set theAttachments to {(fileChoice & ".zip") as string}
    repeat with theAttachment in theAttachments
make new attachment with properties {file name:((theAttachment as text) as >alias)} at after the last paragraph
The reason for that is theAttachments need to be a list, without the curly bracets theAttachments is a string.
    repeat with theAttachment in theAttachments
Therefore, theAttachment (in theAttachments) is/are letters in theAttachments. The file you select started with M.

  • Not able to send pdf file as attachment in my apple mail.

Hi, I was easily able to attach pdf files to my apple mail.  infact I could just open a pdf file and then send it as attachment in the email earlier. but after downloading and upgrading to os X Mountain lion, I am neither being able to attach and send pdf files in my apple mail, nor can I send PDF file as an attachment.
Is there any issue with OS X Mountain Lion.
Issue 1.  I compose Email , then click attach > Browse > select pdf file > click attach > it shows in my Email body either as an icon or as first page of the pdf document > I send it. >>> But when the receipient opens the Email, that pdf attachment is missing. In fact When I put a cc to my self and I open the Email, the attachment is mssing in the incoming E amil.
Issue 2. I open the PDF document > Click on File > send as attachment in E-Mail > on right, a menu appears where I select the File and click attach> I get a message
The SendMail doesnot know how to talk to your default mail client. Please select a different mail application to use. Attaching a screen shot.
I never had these issues earlier with my Lion OS . but since the time I have upgraded to mountain Lion OS, I am having these issues.
Are these the Mountain Lion issues, how to fix these please.

I believe, the software team forgot to put a button for send or share as an attachment to preview.

    Hi Jameel,
Please be clear, I understand that you are using Content Server right?
OK, then have you defined Content Repository?
    Follow the Steps below:
    1. Goto "OAC0" & Create your own Content Repository  like say (Z_Jameel_CS)
    give the proper description,
Document Area as "DMS Document Management System"
    Storage Type - > 04HTTP Content Server
    Protocol--> -
Version no --->0046/0047 ( whatever you are using)
    HTTP Server -
    > (Your content server ip address eg: 139.100.31.311)
    PortNumber--->(ex 1088)
    HTTP Script--> ContentServer/ContentServer.dll
    2.  Click on "CS Admin" Content Server Administration.
Ask your Basis guy to give you the User ID and Password for the Content Server
    go to "Certificate" Tab,
you can see your Content Repository created  Click on the "Mail" icon to get the Certificate.
then just check in the Settings & Statics tabs that all information has come or not.
    3.
    Then Define Content Category.TCode "OACT"
You need to create a New Category say Z_JAM
    Document Area--> DMS
Content Repository---> (mention what you created earlier i.e. Z_Jameel_CS)
then click on the next icon what you see next this field.
everything from this Content Repostory will be Copied.
Then checkIn your documents in the Content category defined.

You cannot attach them in a mail.
    But, you can do this.
    1. Go to the document.
    2. Tap on share button.
    3. There should be an option "Mail"
    4. Tap on it and attach.
    Note:
    1. If you are checking your mail in browswer - this does not work.
    2. You cannot attach it to the mail you are currently composing.

  • I was sent an email which I thought was legit . I opened an attachment (zip file) but nothing in it. I phoned the bank to double check, and of course the email was bogus. How can I tell whether my macbook air version X.9.4 has a virus or not.

I was sent an email which I thought was legit . I opened an attachment (zip file) but nothing in it. I phoned the bank to double check, and of course the email was bogus. How can I tell whether my macbook air version now has a virus?

No Mac viruses are propagated through email.
Be vigilant for suspicious activity as you normally should be, but do not download or install some "anti-virus" utility in an effort to fix a problem that does not exist. That's a well-worn path to certain misery.

  • No longer able to attach .jpg images in Mail...

I'm having problems attaching .jpg images in Mail. This problem started two or three days ago. I can attach .zip files, but I'm unable to attach .pdf or .jpg files. I have not tried other formats, as these are the two most common formats used.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Cheers. -m

There was a discussion posted on this a while back:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1545970&start=0&tstart=0
I get this problem on my PPC, but not my Intel machine. Instead of using Server Admin, best to set this value (maxAttachmentSize) in the /etc/wikid/wikid.conf file. The value in Server Admin will still show '0', but I was still able to attach files up to the size I specified in the wikid.conf file.
