Not able to use EXPLAIN PLAN in Toad

hi,
I am not able to use Explain Plan in Toad. The error it gives is the table PLAN_TABLE doesn't exit.
But after seeing this error I did run the script "UTLXPLAN.sql" in order to create the plan_table table.
After installing the above table I am not able to use EXPLAIN_PLAN from toad, Its giving same error Table PLAN_TABLE doesn't exit though i created it successfully in the proper schema.

SQL> select owner from dba_tables where table_name='PLAN_TABLE';
before using toad ,first u should connect to sqlplus by that user and issue
SET AUTOTRACE ON.

I refer Plan_table table to see the details of the plan. Please guide me regarding which columns of the Plan_table should be considered while modifying the query for optimization. Some people say, 'Time' column should be considered, some say 'Bytes' etc. Some suggest on minimizing the full table scans, while some people say that I should minimize the total no. operations (less no. of rows should be displayed in Plan_table). As per an experienced friend of mine, full table scans should be reduced (for e.g. if there are 5 full table scans in the plan, then try to reduce them to less than 5. ). However, if I consider any full table scan operation in the plan_table, its shows value of 'time' column as only 1 which is very very less. Does this mean the full scan is actually taking very less time?? If yes, then this means full table scans are very fast in my case and no need to work on them. Some articles suggest that plan shown by 'Explain Plan' command is not necessarily followed while executing the query. So what should I look for then? How can i paste the explain plan from toad..

How to enable Explain plan in TOAD

Hi,
I am using toad version 8.6.1.Whenever i login as my userid and run a sql stmnt i am trying to get explain plan from toad explain plan button.But it's not showing anything some times it says insuffcient privileges.I created synonym called plan_table which is based on actual plan_table.But no luck.Can you pls help me how to enable explain plan in toad

Anand,
in earlier versions of Toad you could use the notoad.sql or toadprep.sql to create the required tables.
In your version it is probably already has been replaced by menu option Tools->Server Side Object Wizard.
Toad does not use the plan_table - it creates it's own set of tables including the table for the explain plan.

Hi,
on 11.2.0.3 , I use the following to verify the Explain Plan used for an executed query.
SELECT * FROM
TABLE(DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_AWR('<sql_id>','<plan_hash>'));
For example
SELECT * FROM TABLE(DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_AWR('cx8m90z5n57g1','3867296312'));
The problem is that it does not bring always back a result to display . Every now and then it does not find any Explain Plan. Why ?
Any other way that let to find Used Explain Plan for sure ?

Because the statemen didn't qualify according to the thresholds of thw AWR or was already removed from the AWR.

Cpu time is not getting displayed in explain plan

I am trying to analyze one query using explain plan .like below
1) explain plan for

But i am getting only following columns in result .

In Oracle 9i CPU costing is disabled by default, you need to gather WORKLOAD system statistics to enable the CPU costing.
In 10g CPU costing is enabled by default and uses default NOWORKLOAD system statistics if no WORKLOAD system statistics have been gathered. It can only be disabled by setting an undocumented parameter or by changing the OPTIMIZER_FEATURES_ENABLE parameter back to 9i compatibility.
You can check the status of your system statistics by running the following query in SQL*Plus:

I am quite new to use explain plan in oracle.
I want to know what are the important factors that we should emphasize to optimize a SQL query.

If I had to identify key SQL tuning factors to look for in relation to an explain plan I would say that number one is to verify that the plan is driving on the right tables in the proper order.
Second looking at the SQL make sure it is not written in such a manner as to disable the use of available indexes such as when a trunc is done on an indexed date column so it can be compared equal to another date when a >= date value of midnight and < midnight of first day not desired could be used instead enabling use of the index on the date column by the optimizer. Implicit conversions of join column data types can also disable use of an index.
Third, if the CBO is doing something other than what you expected do not just assume it is wrong. Try to figure out why it is doing what it is doing and then try to determine if it is right or wrong. I have caught people trying to tune SQL because they knew the plan was wrong, but did not actually test it before spending a lot of time to develop a different path that ran slower than the optimzer plan.

After checking your PIN number, it shows you do not have a BlackBerry® data plan with your network service provider. This is required to use Google® Talk. Contact your network service provider to add a plan.

Not able to use GoogleTalk via WiFi

I am using BB-9320 since last 2 weeks.
But I am not able to use GoogleTalk via WiFi.
Since I don't want to connect my phone via service provider, so I have keep "data services" option off.
I am able to use internet and all other apps via WiFi, but just 1 app that is not running is "GoogleTalk"!!
I am not able to log in on GoogleTalk. It displays error that, "Data Service Unavailable".
What should I do?
Is there any other way to use GoogleTalk??

In order to use Google Talk you require a data plan through your wireless service provider. You can see the system requirements for Google Talk at the below link.

Curretly, there is an iCloud blackout. It started this morning around 2AM California time (Pacific), 5AM New York (Eastern). A lot of people have been having issues all day, including me. No iCloud services are online. Even Find My iPhone is down.

I bought new i phone 5 3 days back, after that asked for new update which is 6.1.4, after updating my iphone i am not able to use cellular data services. I called up data provider, they says its the problem with new software update. There is no option add

Well, everything that you have bought with her Apple ID prior to getting your own Apple ID is forever hers. Apple will not transfer content from one ID to another. But in the case of the Mac, contact iTunes Customer Service and request that they send your issue to the Account Security Team and ask that the Mac be released form your mother's account so you may register it with your account.
