Not able to use forms migration assistant

I have installed 10g database and dev suite 10g. Previous version of forms was 6i (client/server architecture). I have downloaded forms migration assitant 9.0.2; they are jar files. I dont know how to use migration assitant (jar files) to convert my forms to 10g. I have used java command to execute it, i have also double clicked on jar files but it says "invalid or corrupted jarfile". Tried in script, didnt worked too. When i download forms assistant it was in zip file and when i extract it, it becomes 5 directories named (Actions,Components,Dialogs,locks and Queries and two files named install1.jar and products.jar. I checked all files inside these directories but no file worked. I searched on web that how to make jar files executable and did that but i got the same message "invalid or corrupted jarfile".
Please guide me where can i found migration assitant v10.1.2 (i already searched web but cant find it). and how to use it? If anybody have it please send me link or file (as its size is very small).

Using Forms Migration Assistant

I have been migrating a application server from forms 6i to 10g (10.1.2.0.2) using Forms Migration Assistant (FRMPLSQLCONV) tool.
First of all, I have converted .pll files, and It has been converted right.
Then It has been compiled and right.
But when I try to convert a form (.fmb files) in a different path from libraries (.pll files) and It didn't work.
I have changed REGEDIT (FORM_PATH), DEFAULT.ENV file (FORM_PATH), FORMSWEB.CFG file in the WORKING-DIRECTORY and It doesn't work.
Could you help me?
I have an idea. Compiling directly in 10g . It is possible?These .fmb files it didn't converted.

Is it possible to use the migration assistant to transfer only some documents and data? For example, I was to transfer my music, but not my word documents. There doesn't seem to be any options to customise what you are transferring - its all or nothing

Yes, that's why I recommend one have more than TimeMachine as a backup because if certain files or folders are corrupted on the TM drive, your not logging into your migrated user account or not be able to transfer it what so ever.
Then it's a REAL PAIN and costs $99 to bit read the TM drive to get the files out, then it's mess to go through and sort all the empty placeholders from the real files as TM doesn't save duplicates in each state, just uses the previous state's copy if there are no changes.
If you create the same named user account on the new machine, and simply transfer files via a USB thumb drive and place say music contents into the Music folder, then it will work too.
Look into making clones of your boot drive, the benefit here is it's bootable, you can access the drive directly to pick and choose files, run the computer just like before etc.

Hello, I need help with my macbook pro.
It looks like I cannot install anything anymore. Everytime I try to install a new software, I simply get stuck during the installation type process. I put in my password, it does accept it, but it does not go any further.
I tried to reset the password, put no password, repair the permissions, the disk but nothing will do. I nearly got stuck with the log in screen but finally succeeded in disabling it.
So I thought I might try to create a new account but I cannot click the lock to make changes. It simply refuses to react.
I am now thinking about using the migration assistant to save all my settings, data and so fourth, but again I get stuck when I have to type in my password. It accepts it but nothing happens...
I guess it has something to do with the authorization process, but can't find anything on the internet about it... Can you help me out?

First, backup your system. Next, reboot your system, press/hold the COMMAND-R keys to boot into the Recovery HD. Select 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. If you purchased Lion as an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the reinstall process will install Lion 10.7.3. If your system came preinstalled with Lion, you might still get Lion 10.7.2. Both installs are a total install of the OS. None of your apps or data will be impacted. Just the OS. -
I just bought a new iMac and used the Migration Assistant to transfer my files. Initially, all was working, but now a week later, I get the message that the application manager is missing, and I cannot get Photoshop and InDesign to launch. For my personal use, I did not a need to join Creative Cloud. Have you any suggestions for a work-around?

I recently used the migration assistant on my old macbook air to transfer my data to my new macbook pro, yet it seems that my music and Films have not fully transferred over. i have used macs for a while now and haven't had any problems before, yet now itunes has the names of my music and films yet it can't locate the original file. any ideas on how to get this fixed? i don't want to buy all my music and films again.

ThanksDid the original files actually transfer? They would be in Music>iTunes>iTunes Music. You may just need to rebuild the library if the files are in that folder.

Not able to use SRW.USER_EXIT in oracle forms.

Below is my requirement in oracle forms:
I have a query form, which has Inventory Category Set field and Category 'From' and 'To' fields. Based on the values selected by the user for Category Set, possible combinations for Categories should be displayed in Cateogory 'From' and 'To' fields. Upon clicking the 'Find' button, only the items which belong to this category set and the range of Cateogies selected should be displayed.
Note that 'Item Categories' Key flex field should be used here. Number of Segments for each Category set will differ. To acheive this, I have attached the Key flex field to the Cateogory 'From' and 'To' fields.
In the PRE-QUERY trigger of the datablock, I have to use where condition to filter the items based on the category sets and categories. This where condition should be generated dynamically based on the search criteria.
In oracle report, we have provision to use the below USER_EXIT to get the where condition to append to my PRE-QUERY statement.

You can write an ON-error trigger that will trap any DB error messages

You can use Dbms_Error_Code & Dbms_Error_Text for trapping the Error. -
My iMessage is not signing in after I used the migration assistant
I used the migration assistant to transfer my stuff from my old mac, after I deleted my trash and tried logging on to iMessage. It won't log on and just keeps spinning the wheel. How do I get my mac to work?
I suspect you are not connected to the internet.
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then reconnect.

I have transferred a load of files from my PC to my iMac using the migration assistant. The message on both machines say that the process was successful but I can not find the files on the mac. Any ideas?
When you use Migration Assitant it creates another user account and puts your files there. Please log out of your normal account and log into the new account. Had you use Setup Assistant when it asked if you were migrating that would not have occured. You have a couple of options, combine the two accounts (not recommended) or start over, use Setup Assistant and have everything in one user account. Where do I find in my iMAC the files I tranfered from my PC using the Migration Assistant. I could not find a setting to what folder I could to set to transfer it before I started to transfer.
Migration Assistant creates a new user on your system and puts the files in that users home folder. Setup Assistant would transfer the files into the user folder of the user account created when originally setting up your Mac. Setup Assistant is what runs when you first turn on and setup your Mac and Migration Assistant is in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder.

I used the migration assistant to transfer my photos from PC to mac. The photos were not organized at all. They were in the all files section in my finder. I just clicked and drug the pics file to iphoto and the are just in there in a big bunch. Was there a way I could have had them transferred over in there folders from PC?

Do you know where the actual photo files are located on your laptop? If so, you can transfer them to the Mac over a LAN or by saving them to an external HDD, thumb drive or burning them to a disk. Then you can import the photos to the iPhoto app that came on your new Mac.
It would be the same process for the videos, however, it would depend what type of video files they are, as to which Mac app might allow you to view them.
BTW, since your Mac is new you need to Accept the iLife apps; iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie into your Mac App Store/iTunes account. Open the MAS, sign into you account, go to the Purchased pane and accept the apps. -
Forms Migration Assistant Usage
Hi all,
I am not able to understand the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant yet.
I have seen in Forums that Forms 6i applications can be migrated to 11g just by recompiling the forms and running it on 11g.
If this is the case , whats the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant?
Is it meant to be used for some complex Forms built on 6i or 9i ?
When do we use migration assistant instead of just recompiling the forms and running it on 11g ?
Can anyone help me out ?

RamIt does some changes; for example when you have calls to run_product for reports this get's replaced by rp2rro.run_product, the rp2rro library is attached and the reports object is added to the form. You also get notified if you have calls to get_file_name in your form as this built in is deprecated.

I recently bought a new macbook pro and set it up using the migration assistant from my mac mini. I can't get the text message forwarding feature to work with both computers. It keeps saying that I only have 2 devices setup, my iPad and my macbook pro. When I mess with the setting on my mac mini, it goes from saying that that is one of the devices to my macbook pro being the 2nd device. I think that something happened as a result of my using the migration assistant and now it thinks that my macbook pro and my mac mini are one and the same computer. Any ideas?

The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.) -

I am using Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 and I want to migrate some forms from Forms 6i to Forms10g.
I edited the search_replace.properties file in order to change the TEXT_IO calls to CLIENT_TEXT_IO, however after i ran the forms migration assistant, the forms are not changing.
I have the following line in my search_replace.properties file:
Replace24=TEXT_IO|CLIENT_TEXT_IO
What is the correct way to use the search_replace.properties file ?

Forms Migration Assistant - Forms Path?
Hi,
I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm attempting to use the Forms Migration Assistant and I'm having problems getting it to recognise attached libraries etc. Is there some sort of path that I can set to tell it where to look? I'm using 10gR2 developer suite and I'm using the assistant in wizard mode. I have tried setting the forms path in the registry and in the default.env file but this doesn't seem to make any difference. The only time I have had this working is if I modify the shortcut to the assistant to "Start in" the same folder as all of the libraries and forms which is less than ideal for our situation.

Apparently, the regular forms_path should be picked up by the migration assistant however there is a bug with the GUI version of the tool that prevents this from happening. If you use the command line version then apparently the tool works fine.
However, if like me you intend to use the GUI version you can manually edit the frmplsqlconv.bat file to include your forms_path. There is a metalink note about this, the doc id is 454053.1
