Not closing the JDialog causes the application to freeze???
Dear all,
I am developing an application that contains dialogs.
if a user does not close the dialog and opens one of the
other window applications, e.g. Outlook Express, then clicks on
the application again by clicking on
the reduced window/icon at the bottom of the screen,
then the dialog is not displayed anymore (since it is at the back of
the main application window) and the application is frozen!?
My code looks something like the following:
JDialog totalCostDialog = new JDialog();
totalCostDialog.setModal(true);
totalCostDialog.getContentPane().add(new GrpTotalsDialog());
totalCostDialog.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter(){
public void windowClosing(WindowEvent we) {
totalCostDialog.dispose();
totalCostDialog.setLocation(700, 300);
totalCostDialog.pack();
totalCostDialog.setResizable(false);
totalCostDialog.toFront();
totalCostDialog.setVisible(true);
I thought the to.Front() piece of code would solve the problem,
but apparently it does not?
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Kanita
Rather use the JDialog constructor that passes in a JDialog or a JFrame. That way your new JDialog will be connected to a base in your application.

At times, the type in the bookmarks toolbar as well as the tabs changes to white with a drop shadow on a white background, making it very difficult to read. I do not know what it causing the colors to change. Is there any way to fix this?
quick test based on screendump from your picture
1: hue & saturation : master sat -100
2:levels : input white=67
OK ? -
The bookmark tab went from the right side to the left side. I did not change that. what cause the change from the right side to the left side? Also the the Mozilla Firefox tab on the upper left hand corner changed.
Its was a red colored tab and now its blue in color. I did not change any thing!Hey jimmiet,
There were some recent ui changes around the downloads manager. What version where you on before? Anyway, you can customize things in Firefox really easily. Take a look at [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars|this article on customizing Firefox]] for details. Should be a piece of cake to move the bookmarks button.
As for the color of the button, you might be in [[Private Browsing - Browse the web without saving information about the sites you visit|Private Browsing]] mode. That changes the color of the button from orange to a purplish color.

hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing or upgrading the OS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)
How long are you leaving it on the charger?
Are you connecting it directly to an electrical outlet or trying to charge via USB? USB may not provide enough power to adequately charge the device if the battery is that low.
If none of that helps, then the only option would be a warranty replacement as either the battery or system board is bad. -
Error message is not telling which field causing the issue!
Hello
I am developing the Adobe Interactive Form and launching this form from WebDynPro ABAP application, fine.
This form has tonns of dropdown fields, mandatory fields, greyed out fields. Fine.
I am filling the list the drop-down fields from webdynpro ABAP, but, i am filling list for only 80% of the drop-down fields, rest 20 % is not filling at all (bcz, business want to have those 20% dropd-owns on the form by thinking going further they require, this moment they dont need so they dont want to fill the lists)
Now the form is launching on the browser, fine. But when user submits it i am getting the below erro:
The Entered Value Is Not on the List of Valid Values. (I am guessing this error is talking about the DROPDOWN fields only)
I hv tonns of drop-down fields, so, its very difficult for me to go and trace each and every drop-down fielld!! But, i checked all the populated/entered values in the drop-down fields, they are all fine. Sone dropd-down fields are GREYED OUT, they are defaulted from webdynpro ABAP
Pls. let me know How can know which field/drop-down is causing this issue? Wht are the possible causes for this error? Error is not telling which fields is making issue?
How can i trace and how can i fix it, pls. let me know
Thank youThank you for your tips.
But, as of my knowledge every thing (case sensitive, list box entries) are fine, not sure, why am getting this error! I will double chk again.
But, thing is.... actually, i have 4 pages, depending on the logged in user, i will HIDE the pages (say, for me the 3 rd page will be hidden), i am hiding the pages by using JavaScript in the form.
So, this error is not coming if i execute/launch all the 4 pages, but, its coming if i hide any page for any user!!
By chance, do we debug to figure out which FIELD is CAUSING issue/this error?
From where this message is coming, i mean, from the SAP's JAVA stack? Wht is the message ID and #?
or is it Adobe's/Form's error?
Thank you -
JPopupMenu in one frame is not closing while clicking on the another frame
Hi friends,
I have a web application which is manily applet oriented. I have two frames in the page on which i have loaded separate applets. One on the left side an the other on the right side. I have implemented a popup using JPopUpMenu in the left hand side applet in response to mouse pressed event. But when i am clicking on the right side frame which is having the other applet loaded the pop up still remains the same in the first frame. It's not going away. How can I solve this issue ?
Pls help me out in this regard.
The JRE used is JRE 1.4.2

AKIf you dont find anything specific, a lot of the problems i
encounter like this are because one little thing is spelled wrong.
like it doesnt match whats in your php file, ect. my suggestion,
though a long one, if you know its supposed to work, and theres no
syntax error, re type it, not copy and paste, and just be careful.
keep tripple checking. you might not even find what was spelled
wrong, but it might fix the situation, -
I cannot log-in to accounts on other websites e.g. eBay, Amazon, for starters. I get messages that I need to turn on cookies. They are on and I can see the cookies in the cookie file but the programs are not making the connections and not finding the cookies. I've found that I have the same problem with Safari and Camino. Could something in the OS be interfering and if so, how can I fix this? The problem only exits on my Mac with OS 10.5.8 On my new Windows 7 laptop Firefox has no problem logging into any of my existing accounts.
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

How do I make the clickpad cause the size of my desktop icons to change?
As I work through the day, something I do to the clickpad seems to cause my desktop icons to suddenly grow larger, or shrink smaller. I have noticed that the icon change happens as I sweep my regular clickpad finger across the clickpad. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the other hand at the same time, but I seem to be touching the clickpad's left button area at least part of the time. The sudden increase in size of icons causes them to rearrange themselves into an unfamiliar pattern, i.e. a mess. So I then must take time to rearrange about 40 icons, thereby becoming vastly less efficient with a computer than I would be if using pencil and paper. I am not able to reproduce this action at will; it only happens while I'm working normally well, concentrating on other things.
If any of you know exactly how this occurs, and what the feature is called, please tell me the name and, much more importantly, please tell me how I can stop this from occurring. I've searched HP's instructions for the clickpad, searched for a newer driver, and searched the forums to no avail. The notebook computer is a Pavilion DV7-4280us (a quick-ship model). The offending clickpad is, apparently, being beta tested on unsuspecting consumers who, choose to believe the HP tech support and sales folks instead of the numerous previous consumers who have complained about these clickpads in customer reviews. Overall, this computer really is terrific; but I sure could use some help to prevent these undesirable scramblings of my desktop icons that suddenly outgrow the space allocated to them. Thanks in advance for your help.Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# In the Firefox menu select Preferences to open the Preferences window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
If you have it set to the above but it is not remembering the tabs, the file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt.
# Open your profile folder, for details of how to find it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
# Close Firefox
# In the profile folder delete sessionstore.js
That file will be recreated when you next start Firefox -
Is it iTunes or the Podcast causing the problem?
I download many differnet podcasts via iTunes and recently started seeing a problemwith several of them.
All of the podcasts I have this problem with come via the 'Radio Nostalgia Network' but only a few of their programs are affected. An example of what I am seeing can be found by downloading the September 22 'Big Band Serenade' found at: http://bigband.libsyn.com/.
This file, when iTunes received it, show a play length of 3 hours, 57 minutes but in reality plays for about 30 minutes. But that's not all! If I play it with iTunes, the counter moves as it should and ends after the 30 minutes. If I start it again, at the 30 minute mark, it starts back almost at the beginning of the podcast. Scrolling it up past the 3 hour mark, I'm closing in on the end of the podcast.
The files I am having problems with seem to be larger then they should be, running 45-55MB rather then the more typical 10-15MB, so there is something else going on.
Is anybody else seeing this problem?Bummer that it didn't work. Wonder if you upgraded to OS X 10.4.10 would make a difference? of c ourse, having written that, I see I'm still listed as running 10.4.2 rather then 10.4.10 like I really am, so expect your in the same boat.
I'm really surprised that iTunes would freeze up so fast with no internet connection. With my system, if there is no connection, everything stops and I can delete the problem file so it doesn't try to download it when I turn my connection back on.
I don't think you would need to remove all of your tunes BUT I do highly recommend having a full back up of them just in case. You know that if you do have a back up replacing iTunes will go off without a hitch BUT not having a back up, everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong.
With that said, I would just delete the iTunes program, as well as the 'com.apple.iTunes.plist' file from ~/library/preferences then reinstall your most recent version of iTunes. Upon launching iTunes it should read in the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file which, if I u nderstand it correctly, is the DB holding all of your iTunes information loke playlists etc.
Have you had any luck finding an email/contact method for Mr Humphreys? I did give some feedback on a show last year (they played part 1 but never did play part 2) and while at least one other listener also voiced a complaint, nobody ever did anything. As such, that clearly isn't a way to get a message to him.
The Freudian slip wasn't intentional but guess it might serve a purpose so I shall save it in case I need it again sometime. -
This is my second power cord and it is now not charging either. Is this a coincidence or is my computer causing the power cord failures?
Hi T,
I would bring it to an Apple Store or AASP to have it checked out. If it's under warranty, it's their problem, not yours. -
My HD's like to go to sleep on the job - Causes one **** of a freeze
PPC G3 Blue & White 400 MHz, 640 MB RAM, 13.6 GB HD (Primary) 6 GB HD (Secondary Storage) on same IDE chain. Primary Dev - 0 secondary dev - 1. Running OS 9.2.2. If you need any other details, ask, and you shall receive...
System boots up fine, no extension conflicts as per first thing I tested.
Performed Disk First Aid from OS Install CD ROM. THe 6 GB HD registered PEOF error, and could not repair. Isolated the problem, backed up files, and initialized the HD zeroing Data.
reformatted to Mac OS - Extended, and now sits empty waiting for storage.
Problem = during operation they system has a mild freeze as one of the HD spins up (Similar sound as during boot of system) and can usually resolve itself in a few minutes. Then after a while, the system completely freezes,and the HD's do the same sound, I can't even move the mouse, and takes hours to resolve. As I have a USB MP3 player, the computer treats it as a disk to mount, and if I improperly remove it, I have this same sort of freeze. It's almost like the HD's unmount, then try to remount when needed. Any one have any IDeas as to what may be happening?
I will be troubleshooting further this weekend. I will be trying to isolate which HD is giving the problem. I will be Installing OS 9 on the 6GB, and will try running the computer with only one HD at a time. Whichever one freezes, is gonna get da boot! It won't be a worry to get rid of, as I will be installing a 30 GB next month.
If anyone out there has any other ideas / suggestions, your help would be greatly appreciatedFIrst thing, Grant, I hate to be the one to tell you this but my Blue & White G3 Hackintosh does in fact support Cable select on the hard drives, and does so quite well I might add.
Anyways, the issue is solved, and thank you to all who submitted their suggestions. The original config by physically designating Master / slave set up caused nothing but PEOF errrors on the disk. This weekend, I attempted to run the hard drives individually to see if one was experiencing physical problems. Once it was determined that both Hardrives function properly, I tried reversing the master slave setup and physically designating Master / Slave with the jumpers. Again, problems. I then shut down, removed the HD's and set the jumpers for both to be cable select. I first booted from the OS disks and performed a full initialize on both HD's, zeroing all data, and a clean OS9 went into my now master 6GB hardrive. After establishing the startup disks, I shut down crossed my fingers, and booted from HD.
Voila! Success. The unit booted fine, and is accepting new software. My backed up files have been integrated to the 13.6GB HD and apps are installed on the 6GB. There hasn't been a single freeze, and the computer has been in a testing mode for 72 hours straight. All functions have been tested thoughroughly, and by the end of the week, I should have everything restored.
After the testing cycle, I ran a performance diagnostic, and found that the system is running at optimum, which is the first time since the whole resurrection process started a month ago. -
How to find out the column causing the error while doing update or insert
I'm getting the below error when attempt to update or insert a long string that is more than its defined length in the DB2. For example in table the column length is defined as 50, however from UI the data for that column is more than 50 chars.
{color:#ff0000}**Caused by: com.ibm.db2.jcc.b.SqlException: DB2 SQL error: SQLCODE: -302, SQLSTAT**
**E: 22001, SQLERRMC: null**
**at com.ibm.db2.jcc.b.hh.b(hh.java:1369)**
**at com.ibm.db2.jcc.b.hh.c(hh.java:1356)**{color}
The above issue can be fixed by setting maxlength in the UI itself. However in my case, there is a backend program trying to insert or update load of records. If the exact column name causing the error is known, it will be helpful to load the data properly in the next attempt.
I have worked around it using SQLWarning and DataTruncation, but couldn't find the solution yet.
Any help on this issue will be really appreciated.Medraf wrote:
what is validator? Is it like validation.xml in struts? Are you suggesting like defining set of validation rules in the xml and apply the same for each record before doing any update or insert in DB? If so, then I could implement this validation logic in my backend code, however it may take more time to complete the batch prcoess.
How you implement doesn't matter.
However given a schema generating code for such validation is trivially simple at least for field types and sizes. Relationships are harder but those can be handled via custom rules.
Alternatively I'm looking for some kind of API in JDBC or Hibernate which gives the detailed sql exception message containing the error info like the column name and the reason for failure while update or insert. If not possible, then validation logic needs to be implemented.Having seen something similar in Oracle years ago I seriously doubt that you are going find it magically appearing in JDBC/hibernate. There might be warning on the SQLException (see the java docs for SQLException) but I wouldn't count on it. Other than that the only possibility is making some sort of call in db2 itself that tells you the error. Only problem with that is it might require the context which might not be available once you see the error (presuming, especially for performance, that you are using batch processing.)
As a start figure out how to find out using only db2 (docs and/or db2 forums.) -
To All: Yes, Yes, the battery causes the trackpad to go haywire.
I've had my MacBook Pro for 5 yrs & have left it plugged into power while in use with the battery in.
I've used it ~ 8-10 hrs daily this way for the last 2 yrs without unplugging it at night, I just put it to sleep.
Thought it might have been an altitude problem but I came from Florida to Colorado last yr w/out problems.
I now believe that constant use w/ battery in & plugged into power 24/7 for the last 2 yrs didn't help.
It would get hot, the fan would go on & I'd elevate the back to help circulation.
But it is 5 years old, a longevity for a battery I hear. I must say a swollen battery causes the trackpad to go haywire.Not at an Apple Store, and if the iPhone is no longer under warranty, there is a cost.
