how to solve error 1015

That means you have a jailbroken phone.  Thus you can't get any help here per the term of use of the forum.
Good luck.

  • Can not restore data files from backup set

    I am trying to restore Server A's backup data to Server B (they are all oracle11g) using rman. The restore commands is below:
    rman target /;
    shutdown immediate;
    startup nomount;
    restore controlfile from '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/ctl_xxx'
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    For the first time, it works. But when i tried to restore another backup data by the same way:
    rman target /;
    shutdown immediate;
    startup nomount;
    restore controlfile from '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/ctl_xxx'
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    The second time, i found that rman restore the old backup data, which means that it restore the data file under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/' instead of '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/'.
    So I run 'list backup of database summary' to see the backup set lists in control file.

    there's no backup set 945 at all. that's why i could not restore data file under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/' at the second time.
    So, why two backup list is different ? how can i restore datafile under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/' ?
    My backup script is below:

  • Iphone *4S* in recovery loop able to toggle dfu but WILL NOT restore....

    I APPOLOGIZE THAT THIS POSTED QUESTION OF MINE IS SO LONG. HOWEVER, IT IS A NEED TO KNOW BASIS FOR YOU ALL IN ORDER TO ASSIST/HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER THANK YOU FOR READING.... First of all i highly appreciate all of you taking time to read this question as well as all of your efforts to assist me in this matter thank you.... Here is the issue.... My 15 year old brother purchased an iphone 4s from ebay at $75.00. The description and status of this iphone 4s stated that it is "STUCK IN DFU MODE" we knew nothing about the dfu situation. (or how highly difficult it would later be) So he asks me if he should buy it, well i said yes thinking that this problem sounded legitament as well as easy/simple to bypass and or repair. Therefore he purchased it thinking we could bypass this dfu problem, and he would finally have a fully functional iphone 4s as he has been anticipating to own one. As He knows more about idevices than i do and owns alot of them from ipod touch all the way up to this stubborn iphone 4s. He began to work on this iphone 4s project trying to get it to boot up and work correctly for a couple of days, and hours at a time, it wouldnt no matter what. I then took over the project, and i have to say, this particular iphone 4s, is very corrupted/damaged as far as something software/firmware related within this iphone 4s. So for several hours at a time for almost 3 or 4 months into this grueling project this morning included i have been putting all of my effort into fxing this iphone 4s. I couldnt/cannot get it to restore on itunes (of which we both have the most recent update of itunes) in recovery mode and in dfu mode. I toggled our firewalls to allow the itunes update server. I as well as i toggled our anti-virus programs into disabled mode for the times of which we have been trying to restore and update this iphone. It did update, however, as usual it will not restore with itunes it *ALWAYS* responds back to us with itunes the cannot restore this iphone, the following unknown error has occurred,error (9). I then proceeded to searching online for a solution to the problem(s). As well as this error code (9) itunes continuosly states, After it shows a loading bar under the white apple logo/boot screen on the iphone 4s. It soon there after tries to restore it then responds back with the afformentioned error code (9). The thing is that ive researched, researched, and researched on youtube, bing, and other forums. As i did not know about this apple support community until this morning. Ive spent about 2 and a half hours searching the community here. So yes, i have searched the support community thoroughly. However i have yet to find the solution to the iphone 4s errors we are facing with this potentially irreparable iphone 4s. I am in great hopes that it cant be completely useless, static shocked, or "bricked" because it turns on and registers on itunes etc. Ive went so far as opening the iphone 4s as well so as to see if it would happen to be a hardware issue. Yet everything on the inside of this iphone 4s, is in perfect order as well as new just as the outer casing and the screen. he ordered this iphone 4s from some seller profile of which was a cell phone store/seller (or so it said) on ebay. So my thoughts on it now are if they couldnt get this iphone 4s to boot up and fully function. Then im not sure if i can either, as i know nothing about idevices period. However i have learned a whole lot about them now. in conclusion all i can say about this entire situation with my brothers iphone 4s is that, i hope that i can get it repaired  by myself with the proper assistance through the community from you all... But right now i feel sad for my younger brother because i cant seem to get his iphone up and running of which he is excited to have working and he is relying on me to get it fixed....
    P.S.-  I think that this iphone 4s has probably been dropped and something inside is loose causing it to have all of the issues it is having im not to sure though.... its just a thought i had about this iphone, also maybe it got too hot and it is therefore malfunctioning? and if that is the case then theres got to be some way  to fix the hardware inside of this iphone by soldering or just simply unplugging something and then plugging it back in? again these are just some thoughts ive had about this whole situation. I mainly think, that this iphone 4s somewhere along the lines, was corrupted/damaged by the person(s) who has had it/owned it in the past. They had to of tampered with the iphone 4s by jailbreaking it or attempting to do so. Or they may have damaged it by improperly updating the ios, improperly attempting to restore it, or downgrade it, etc. And  the only "SOLUTIONS" i found online, were various programs to fix all of the problems/problemthis iphone is having trouble with. NOTE: these programs i knew absolutely nothing about or how to use them. Only by following youtube tutorials etc. i eventually learned my way around them. Anyway EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE PROGRAMS FAILED VERY MISERABLY in repairing this iphone 4s. I found all of the following programs and attempted to use all of them with my brothers iphone 4s they are all up to date and are as follows: redsn0w, ifaith, tinyumbrella, ireb r7, sn0wbreeze, bluefreeze and recboot. these were all reffered to me by youtube and other forums to "help" with an iphone 4s. i do not know anything about these programs as far as if i should have used them. However, like i said they were on youtube and such so i got them in a desperate attempt to fix my brothers iphone 4s and again i appologize this posted question of mine was very long however majority of this information is a need to know basis in order to help/ assist me in this matter THANK YOU ALL....

    If you have the latest version of iTunes you should not have to download the ipsw file separately as jalp suggests. iTunes will download it automatically.
    This error (9) most often means that your antivirus or firewall (or router) is blocking access to Apple's servers. In rare instances it can also mean that the phone was hacked (or "jailbroken") to unlock it. If this is the case you must do a DFU restore, not Recovery Mode, as follows:
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall. If you has Kaspersky you may actually have to uninstall it, as it can never be turned completely off.
    Connect the USB cable to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. DO NOT connect the other end to the phone
    Disconnect all USB devices except for mouse, keyboard and iPhone cable.
    Launch iTunes
    On the phone hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for EXACTLY 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. The screen should be black. If it has an Apple logo this means you held both buttons too long. Release the HOME button and do it again.
    While holding the HOME button connect the free end of the cable to the phone.
    After a short while iTunes should recognize a phone in "recovery mode" (iTunes doesn't know the difference between DFU and Recovery modes, but the phone does)
    Release the HOME button and don't touch the phone or the computer until the process completes or you get an error message. Ignore any displays on the phone.
    If the error recurs the phone was probably messed up when it was hacked. This is not a hardware problem, or if it is, it isn't one you can fix.
    You can try repeating these steps with a different computer and a different cable. If that fails also the phone is probably not repairable.

  • I updated my phone but it will not restore so I have a bunch of apps that wont open and all my music and videos are gone.

    I updated my 3GS and it will not restore. All of my apps are ther but will not open and all of my music is gone. Everything is on my itunes but it will not let me sync. It just says to retore from backup or start as new iphone.

    Depending on what iPhone you have when you get to the connect to wifi you should be able to activate your device over cellular data. Try doing a hard reset by holding the home circle button an power button until an apple pops up and the  go through the setup again and when you get to the wifi part a option should be setup with cellular data iPhone 4 and above should give this option sometimes doesn't like showing up that's why u have to do a hard reset first

  • I changed my iPhone lately but i can't restore my last backup since it keeps saying "itunes could not restore backup because the password was incorrect" but I don't know where to put the password to make it happen... Any suggestions?

    Hey guys,
    I just bought a new iPhone but i can't restore my backup files beacuse it keeps saying "itunes could not restore backup because the password was incorrect" but I really don't know where to put the password to restore it. I really have some files that are meaningful for me so I really need help. Any suggestions anyone?

    Select your iDevice in the iTunes.
    Choose the Summary screen (tab) and scroll to the bottom of the screen.
    Then un-select Encrypt iPhone backup.
    iTunes will then prompt you to “Enter the password to unlock your iPhone backup”, enter the password you set originally.

  • My iPad 2 will not restore using iTunes. It keeps telling me - the iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknow error occurred (4) - I have tried every suggestion I could find so far. Any ideas as to what I can do?

    My iPad 2 will not restore using iTunes. It just quit a week or two ago and showed that I had to connect to iTunes.
    When I do the "restore and update" it does not complete the "verifying iPad restore with Apple" and then shows the following message:
    The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (40).
    I have tried it a number of times. Also turned of anti-virus and firewall. Tried on different computers. All resulted in the same message. The iPad is only 2 1/2 years old, so I hope it can be fixed.
    Does anyone have a solution?

  • Could not restore iPhone after 7.1.2 update

    As a number of other people have posted here, I've encountered some problems with the iOS 7.1.2 update on my iPhone. Unlike most of the others, I've tried a number of possible solutions before resorting to asking here, and I have details of my efforts to share. My experience with this problem over the past twenty-four hours suggests that the standard advice I'm seeing given is insufficient for those of us having this issue.
    This started around 1 am EDT last night (this morning) when I did a standard sync of my 16 GB iPhone 4 in iTunes 11.2.2 in order to install a couple of newly updated apps. I will point out up front that it was not my intention to update to 7.1.2—I was still on iOS 7.1.1 and intended to remain there until I'd seen reports of others' experiences with the update. (I've been burned before by issues with an iOS update, and I tend to be cautious about them now, as it is a one-way trip.) In fact, my iTunes had not yet notified me of the 7.1.2 update; I knew of it from it having appeared as a notification on my phone itself.
    At the end of the sync, however, iTunes told me that it could not install one of my updated apps because there was not enough space. I normally try to keep about 1 GB free, so this seemed odd, especially considering that I had not added anything sizeable since my last sync earlier in the day. I was surprised to see that iTunes reported only 300 MB free on my iPhone. The culprit appeared to be the opaque "Other" category, which had since the prior sync ballooned from less than 1.8 GB to nearly 2.5 GB for no apparent reason.
    (Side note: Apple's insistence on not defining the contents of "Other" to users and not providing any reasonable means of cleaning it out continues to be an issue, which is compounded by its tendency to grow over time. Is it too much to ask that some housekeeping be enabled for this?)
    I have in the past had fairly consistent luck with purging old, outdated data from "Other" by doing a full reset and restore on my iPhone, so I set out to do this. Unfortunately, iTunes downloaded and installed iOS 7.1.2 instead of the installed 7.1.1, and I had no opportunity to change that. I was annoyed by this—a system reset should not force an OS update—but I didn't expect any significant problem from it.
    Once the reset completed, I got my first sign of real trouble: an error saying that my iPhone "could not be activated" and that I needed to call Apple. As it was roughly 2 am EDT by then, this was not an option at the time. After I accepted that error message, however, iTunes showed my phone with its correct name and information, and began the process of restoring the last backup (which had been made during that sync attempt an hour earlier). After several minutes, I got another error message saying that this backup could not be restored because it was "corrupt" or "incompatible".
    I was, at this point, prepared to simply accept that I would have to redo everything, and so started setting things up in iTunes so that I could pack it up and go to bed. I soon discovered, to my dismay, that while iTunes gave no indication that anything was wrong with my phone at this point, the phone itself was stuck on the pre-activation screens, demanding to be connected to iTunes to complete activation. iTunes itself revealed no options I could readily locate for initiating activation manually, and if I proceeded through the setup screens on the iPhone for the option of restoring from a backup, I simply ended up back where I was before after several minutes, with the phone demanding it be connected and iTunes saying the backup couldn't be restored.
    I gave up around 5 am EDT and went to bed. Later this morning I tried working with it some more. This time, I retrieved several of the last few days' mobile backups from my Time Machine backup (from ~/Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup, using Tri-Edre's Back-in-Time) and fed them into the phone, but each one returned the same "corrupt or incompatible" error. This included backups dating as far back as a week ago, prior to 7.1.2 becoming available.
    At this point I tried running setup on the iPhone as a new device. Fortunately, all the key information is tied to my Apple ID, so it was suitably reactivated with my carrier, and it knew which apps, music tracks, videos, pictures, and books were to be synced to it, so I didn't have to manually re-add them all. But it of course does not have any previous settings or local data stored, and my 178 apps that had been meticulously arranged into folders were now spread across 12 pages in alphabetical order. I'm still slowly going through everything to reset those missing settings and folder structure.
    Ultimately, I haven't lost anything of real importance besides time. Besides my iTunes backups, all my "real" data is kept in apps that sync with their OS X counterparts in some form (like Evernote and Dropbox). I had recently downloaded photos, so I have not lost any of those either, though since I don't save them to iCloud (for several reasons), those which I had retained on the phone in Albums are no longer there and will need to be re-collected and synced. Primarily, the only things that appear to be irretrievably lost are my call and SMS logs (iMessage history is still in OS X Messages, and voice mails are stored by my carrier), and saved data from games that don't link to Game Center. Not a big loss, to be sure—I'm still weighing whether it's worth paying the $50 to register iBackup Viewer Pro, which appears to be the only tool which claims to be able to extract data from encrypted iOS backups, in order to restore that data to the iPhone.
    My purpose in posting this, then, is not to ask for solutions to get my phone useable again—I already have that—but rather two other things. First, I wanted to present as much detail as I could about this issue to the community, since the other threads I've found here asking about this problem have yet to get past the initial "reset and restore from backup" advice, and my experience indicates that this isn't necessarily going to help, but resetting and setting up as a new device, then resyncing with your Apple ID/iCloud/iTunes can at least make the device functional again. I'll also point out that unless you encrypt your backups (which I do, because, well, duh), there are several utilities available, some of which are completely free, that can extract your data from your backups. Some of them even claim to be able to return that data directly back to the device. Given that this "corrupt or incompatible" error appears to not be stating the situation accurately, it's likely that your data is still intact in your backup despite the error message—iTunes just can't restore it directly to the device. (If you do encrypt your backups, the only utility I've found that claims it can extract anything from them is the aforementioned $50 iBackup Viewer Pro.)
    Second, I want to find out where this problem comes from: I had at first assumed that the "incompatible" message came from having a later version of iOS on the phone than had been present on the backups (though the official line has always been that while you could not restore a backup to an older iOS, there shouldn't be an issue with restoring to a newer one), but what I've seen on this forum indicates that this seems to be a problem in 7.1.2 itself being unable, in at least some cases, to accept backups from a previous iOS. Is this a viable hypothesis, or is there another factor at work here? If it is something specific to 7.1.2, is fixing it a priority?

    Pardon me for a moment while I (politely) rant in your general direction...
    This type of response is not just unhelpful—it is the antithesis of helpful.
    This is a support forum. Its purpose is helping to resolve people's problems. Sometimes those problems are going to require long explanations or lots of information. That either comes out in the original post or over the course of several back-and-forth replies; the former produces long posts but takes less time overall than the latter.
    If you don't have the patience to read through a long post, then just move on. Posting a "too long, didn't read" comment adds nothing beneficial to anyone. All it does is reveal that the person who made that comment thinks it's important to tell everyone that their attention span is too short for anything longer than a tweet.
    Yes, my post was long. Had you read it, you might have understood why it's so long. I'm trying to provide information that people searching these forums about this problem might find helpful. I did this because when I searched for info on this problem, I found lots of people with a similar problem, but no answers that went beyond "restore from backup". Since that advice wasn't the solution for me, I decided that more information might prompt someone with more knowledge and access than I have to investigate. Since you couldn't be bothered to read it, you clearly aren't the kind of person whose attention I was hoping to catch.
    Certainly I could have made the post shorter, but I think putting it into a narrative like this makes it easier to follow and provides a context that a terse recitation of bare facts does not. If you disagree, that's your prerogative, but please don't waste everyone else's time by posting a comment just to say that you didn't read it.
    I find it appalling that someone who's able to reach Level 6 on these support forums would post a "tldr" comment. That does not reflect positively on you or these forums.
    End of rant.

    You can access iCloud.com on a computer to turn it off.

  • I have locked myself out of my iPad and can not restore unless I go onto the iPad and turn off FindMyiPhone, how do I sort this out?

    After installing iOS7  I was prompted to make a passcode, I did so and stupidly forgot and now continually am disabling my iPad, ways in which I have read you can sort this is restoring your iPad, however I can not restore without iTunes telling me I need to go onto the iPad and turn off FindMyiPhone! How else can I sort this? It is logged into my apple account and everything! This is an iPad 2 also ASAP help!!

    Hello shanefox,
    This can be done by logging in at iCloud.com and removing your device via the Find My iPhone web interface.

  • Iphone4 would not restore Error -50. I have tried to restore and it restored it to the point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out.

    Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Is there a way to call apple and get a step by step of how to restore from another restore point? Does anybody have a solution????

    It tells you to go to Error 13 and 14 if you receive error (-50).
    Here is what I have tried...
    Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
    Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting. I have moved it around to different ports.
    Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.
    There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.Used the Microsoft fix it.
    Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online. Doesn't matter.
    Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this.

  • My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?

    My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
    I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
    What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
    So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

    iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
    Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

    tried defining the iPad as new - the same problem. started it in recovery mode - the same

    The definition of insanity.....
    Does it ask for the old device by name?  How do you know it isn't restored?   Have you completed setup and checked on the device?
    Are you using the same iTunes account and Apple ID?
    On your iTunes account, Open preferences, go to devices tab
    Look in the box for a backup of your old device.    Is there a backup?
    If there is no backup, you have nothing to restore.

    I have 2 iphones registered under same account, but both phones had different contacts in them, somehow icloud duplicated, exchanged them, and I turned off the icloud on one of them, while doing that it asked me if I want to keep them on my phone or not. I pressed the one saying not to keep them. I deleted all of them and could not restore the contacts, how do I restore it? when I sign in to my icloud account online it only shows the contacts that were on the other phone. plz help

    I access a personal iPhone and iPad, and a business iPhone with the same Apple ID.
    The iPhone's passcode lock feature is completely separate from another iPhone or iOS device.
    All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. If some apps were downloaded with one Apple ID and then a new Apple ID is created, in order to download an app update that was installed with the original Apple ID requires using that Apple ID and password.

    Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.
