Not using TNS entries correctly

SQLDeveloper Version 2.1.1.64. I have created TNS aliases to connect to individual RAC instances in my TNSNAMES.ORA file. From SQL*Plus, when I use the TNS alias to connect to a particular instance, I get connected to the correct one. When I use the same TNS alias with SQLDeveloper, it connects me randomly to any instance in the cluster.
I have correctly defined the location of TNSNAMES.ORA file in the Preferences. I am specifying just one server name and SID in the TNS alias so there is no way that TNS entry can connect to any other instance. I have only one TNSNAMES.ORA file on the entire computer. Oracle client version 11.1.0.7. The TNS alias for each instance is unique in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
Any ideas on where SQLDeveloper is getting the wrong connection information from?

Actually the driver used depends on the
Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced -> Use OCI/Thick drivercheck-box; when you select TNS connection having this unchecked, SQLDeveloper parses your TNS file and then uses the Thin driver to connect.
I guess since in your situation this does not behave as expected there may be a bug in the thin driver, or in SQLDeveloper interpretation of the TNS file, so try to check the property i mentioned and see if it works OK.

Login Using tns entry takes more than one minute

Hi all,
I have created one 11g R2 database. I am trying to login to the instance and it works fine when I login using just the username and password. But when I try to login using tns entry its taking too much time to login. Also when I try to connect from a remote machine using Toad or any other client its getting timed out or takes too much time to login. Once I get connected everything works fine.
The Database is installed on Rehat Enterprise Linux Server relase 5.3

Can not use overlapping entries?

I am using a WRT110. I use MAC address filtering and when I initially setup the list I had no problems. Now I am trying to add another MAC address to the list and when I click on save, I get an error window stating "You can not use overlapping entries." Other than that everything is working fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey make sure you are using the same MAC address its very important it should be in the same format & make sure you are connected properly through the router also do a complete network power cycle!!!

Not using Blog Entry as part of the URL

FSCM 9.0: COBOL Process GLPPPOST does not post Journal Entry correctly

Hello. I am workin on FSCM 9.0 General Ledger module. "Edit Journal" is AE program that works correctly. But "Post Journal" is a COBOL program that does not works correctly.
COBOL process GLPPPOST posts only debit accounts of a Journal entry into table PS_LEDGER but does not post credit accounts of a Journal Entry into table PS_LEDGER. When run the Ledger Report, the report has only column headers and has no data.
Does FSCM 9.0 have a problem or COBOL process does not work correctly ? Can any folks help me ? Thanks.

Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.
I linked my Ledger Group RECORDING with my Business Unit BU01 using "Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Business Unit Related > Ledgers For A Unit". Then linked UserID VP1 with BU01 in User Preference. I have checked all information about the 3 concepts (VP1, BU01 and RECORDING) and don't see anything wrong.
I suspect the problem is in the Journal Line page because its Chartfileds belong to 2 SetID (SHARE and FEDRL) and 2 Business Unit (BU01 and BU02).
When define Chartfields value using "Setup FSC > Common Definition > Design Chartfield > Define Value", I see Chartfields "Fund", "Class" and "Program" with SetID "FEDRL", and other Chartfields with SetID "SHARE". The 2 SetIDs are default in the system.
Because one Business Unit (BU01) can link to only one SetID (SHARE), I create one more Business Unit BU02 and linked with SetID "FEDRL". Thus, when create a Journal entry using "General Ledger > Journal > Create Journal ", we type in Business Unit (BU01) and Ledger Group (RECORDING) in Header page, but in Line page, some of Chartfields link with SetID SHARE and BU01, and some of Chartfields link with SetID FEDRL and BU02. The journal entry indicates "Inter/Intra Unit Journal". When select "Edit Journal" and click "Process", the message comes up as follows:
"Ledger Group RECORDING is not valid for Business Unit BU01. Ledger Group defined for this journal is not valid for the Business Unit BU01".
My question is: That the Chartfields in Journal Line page link with 2 SetIDs and 2 Business Units causes the above error ? Can any folks help ? Thanks.

This sounds like an Oracle issue not a Java one. Does the connection string you're using work from SQLPlus? That error means you've got a bad SID by the way.

Duplicate calendar entries on iPhone, but not in iCal (NOT using mobile.me)

I've had a problem for a while (since iOS 3) where I get duplicate events on the iPhone (3GS and 4). It seems to happen for events that have been edited/deleted - they are not edited on the phone, rather a duplicate is made. It seems as if what is supposed to happen is iTunes deletes the old one, then creates a new one, only the old one is not being deleted. This is very annoying, especially for recurring events that get edited several times!
I have found several posts about duplicate contacts and calendar entries but they all seem to be pointing to a conflict with mobile.me which I do not use. This is a simple sync between iCal and iPhone using iTunes.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I used to have this issue on my original iPhone (the 2G from 2007). You have to reset your sync data. This should help you; http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627?viewlocale=en_US BUT don't shoot the messenger on this as I did a quick Google search.

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information. Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection. Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

'You Are Not Using The Correct Type of Phone Cord' Error

Having a issue with my fax on my HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless. Tried to send a fax, it received a send error. I ran fax test and it came back with "You are not using the correct type of phone cord". Nothing has changed since I last fax'd but I check the lines and connection, everything appears ok. Phone jack is connected to 1-line and Officejet '2-ext' is connected to the phone. I use a dedicated phone # and the Officejet is set to auto answer. I can call out and receive calls on the phone connect to the Officejet. My assumption is that since I can use the phone without issue there is nothing wrong with the phone line. Any ideas?

I was having the same problem. I'm using a the 2 wire phone cord provided with the printer and still getting this error. Turns out that it related to have a phone extension plugged into the printer. If I unplug the telephone form the extension jack on the back of the printer, then the fax test passes. I was even using a 2 wire cord on the phone extension but it seems that simply having a telephone plugged into the extension jack will cause this error.
Run the test without a telephone plugged into the printer's extension jack and you should be fine.
Worked for me!

Mail does not use correct outgoing server

Problem
Mail in Mavericks (and also IOS6 snf 7) does not use the outgoing smtp server associated with the account being used. This results in either a failure to send or mail being put into the wrong "Sent" folder.
Background
I have most of my non-icloud mail pulled down to a home server from which my laptops and ios devices access various accounts using imap. The local home server also provides smtp and relays all mail to my ISP. Recently I have been switching from an old home server (Mac Mini) to a new one (Raspberry pi running the debian Raspbian version with fetchmail, Dovecot and postfix setup).
While making the changeover I had access to both the old server and the new server enabled on my laptop. Naturally the majority of the settings (Name, email address etc) were the same although the name and address of the server to be used for both incoming and outgoing mail were different. This seemed tp work fine for incoming. However when I tested outgoing mail the copy that should appear in the "sentt" box went missing. This usually indicates some mistake in the setting of the sent mail folder on the accounts but this all checked out.
I eventually found the missing outgoing mail intended to go through the new server in the sent box on the old server. Further trials showed that no matter what I did the outgoing would always default to the old (and therefore first set up) outgoing server.
Deleting the old account and the old outgoing server of course should cure the problem and will eventually be the solution for me when I kill the old server. But i wanted to get to the bottom of the problem in case it reappeared in other contexts. Checking the "use only this server" box produced failure to send rather than the correct result.
Trialing various alterntaive settings showed that the problem occurs when there are two outgoing servers with the email address in the settings and the user name on the outgoing server name being the same. I had assumed that changing the description field would distinguish between the various settings; however this did not work. Changing the Name Field did work eg by putting (O) after my name.
It appears therefore that mail selects the outgoing server on the basis of email address (with the full name included) and user name (trrespective of the actual server or the Description that shows in the smtp server listing. In some ways this is logical but it produces problems in the context I have described and would also be a difficulty if you wanted to use an alternative server when in a different location.
I have trawled support and elsewhere for any thing similar. Lots of mail problems (don't get me started on the way icloud loses outgoing each time you edit the list!) but I have not found any posts on precisiely this point.
IOS devices seem to have similar problems, but a quick attempt at a similar solution does not work, and I cannot be bothered to test the options. I will simply clean them out and put in the new accounts.
Advice
Grateful for any comments or advice from people who have encountered similar problems and whether my diagnosis if correct. Have I missed any obvious corrections that would clear this up. I do not know whether this is a Mavericks issue or also appears in earlier OSX versions.

Where ever the Sent and Trash folders show in the Sidebar, highlight first one, and then the other, followed by clicking on Mailbox in the Menubar, and choosing Use This Mailbox For, and choose the function.

After loging, when I tried to "SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL;" I am getting the following error.
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

Not able to connect remotely via TNS entry

I need to do clone, so wanted to have remote connectivity to my test database. I brought the test database in nomount. Put the right entries in tnsnames.ora file of the same, yet when i login directly it shows it is in NOMOUNT but when remotely it shows connected to IDLE instance.
Please help me out.
