Not Very Pleased With Zen Mi

It worked fine for about a day (two days actually), updated to firmware .0.03 battery life is maybe 5-6 hours even after update. I got two batteries with it so I have tested battery life on both batteries. Well today after I drained battery I put the fully charged battery in and the player froze 5 times. Each time the battery was put in the player auotmatically turned on ( I guess thats normal) and then the rebuilding library screen popped up. It went to the last song that was playing and froze. Repeated this 5 times before the player would respond. Once it unfroze I pluged in the USB cable (normally this would autolaunch Creative Play Center) now the player will not auto connect. I am afraid that I am having hard dri've error issues as well. I wish I would have know that this player had so many issues before I purchased it. Unless someone at Creative can help me out this player is getting returned and I plan on purchasing an Ipod Mini.Message Edited by godawgs on 2-3-2004 2:35 AM

Godawgs,
They will certainly honor the warranty on it. If you contact support they will be able to set you up with an RMA (Repair/Replace). The only downside to this is that they are closed tomorrow for the Holidays and won't open until Monday morning and there is nothing I can do at this point (I am typing this from home...wanted to check on my forums before bed). If you call Monday morning someone will be able to help you out.
Overall I understand your feelings as I too have been on the not so fun end of a product that doesn't work. The one thing I do know is that the support advisors that handle these things really do care about setting things right. It's one of the advantages of having a support team that is 00% in house. There is also an email option if you would rather not call. If you do email, include a link to this thread explaining that you have already troubleshot the player and it was recommended by the Moderator that you get an RMA.

I have just got my iPad2 and am very pleased with it. I have a question regarding the monthly (recommended) battery full charge.  Should I let the battery completely die down to nothing at all before I plug in to recharge or would this complete drain be bad for my iPad?

It's not bad for it - on this page www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html it says :
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • I not as pleased with my apple tv.

I not as pleased with my apple tv. First, my movies from my computer load very slow or I get an error and try again, sometimes this does the trick. Second, I cannot see any other computer on the system. Third, my iphone 4s won't mirror. I have tried everything I could read about these issues, but all together they very confusing. I realize that the problems can lie in different devices, but again I am confused. Please help.

Slow loading off the local network can be caused by network interference. Check istumbler (mac) or netstumbler (pc) to verify.
What other computers are you referring to? Is this related to home sharing?
    If so

Is it iPhone 4S or 4? Are you accessing the mirroring option via control centre?

  • I'm VERY pleased with my 1st MacBook Pro!

Often people post to complain about issues. i just wanted to post a message stating that i am very pleased with my MacBook Pro w/ Retina and 8GB RAM.
I switched from a Windows based system to my first Mac in December.  I use my laptop every day. I have not had a single issue with the MacBook up to this point.
I was able to print using my old Canon printer and even found a little app for my Omron BP Monitor which only comes with Windows software.
The MacBook Pro is a beautiful piece of technology.  Hopefully, it continues to be a smooth ride for me.

    Enjoy it.
    Best.

    Try going to the following
    Tools->Web Developer-> Page Source.
You can also access this by way of keyboard shortcut Ctrl + U
The View Page Source option is also available via the right-click menu by just right-clicking inside the page window & it will be the penultimate menu item.

  • Very Pleased With Book Quality

Just received 17 copies of a 32 page hardback book (modern lines theme) of digital photographs my students at German Swiss International School in Hong Kong put together a couple of weeks ago. Used Aperture 2.1.2 and had been just a little concerned about what the quality might be like after reading a few posts in this forum...but I'm really very pleased with them all! The books look exactly as I had wanted and I'm sure the students will be delighted.
Will definitely be using this service again and will be encouraging staff and students at the school to do the same.

I happen to chime in and notice that there are some discussion related to Blurb BookSmart and Blurb book.
Here is my advice... be cautious. To produce a better book outcome, be SURE that you have calibrated your monitor. Or the output looks misery.
Also, be sure to download the ICC print profile for Blurb's outsourced printers that use HP Indigo printer and be sure to soft proof the images in Photoshop. I know it sounds like lot of work involved, but the dividend pay off nicely... along with time, effort, patience.
For those who prefer to use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop to do custom full-bleed design, it can be done with Blurb. The catch is that you need to use Blurb Booksmart app to import all of finished full-bleed layout design you created in InDesign and Photoshop (or even Illustrator).
There are lot of pretty nice helpful information and pointers with frame of references all over at Blurb Forums as well.
    Hope that helps.

  • After install Windows 10, the texts in Skype are not very neat, with low definition

After  install Windows 10, the texts in Skype are not very neat, with low definition. This has happend just with Skype. Do you know how I can fix it?

I HAVE FOUND A FIX! Searching through the support blogs paid off in a big way. A minor registry edit is all it took and my drive is working like new! Here's the fix. My system is Windows 10 64-bit.  Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, go tohttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run box. (or right-click on windows icon in lower left corner)
Type regedit in the Run box, then press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
Right-click atapi, point to New, then click Key.
Type Controller0, and then press Enter.
Right-click Controller0, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value .
Type EnumDevice1, and then press Enter.
        Right-click EnumDevice1, click Modify....
Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
        Exit Registry Editor.

  • Very Dissapointed with Zen Micro Customer Serv

I sent my daughter's Zen Mico to be repaired (unsure as to whether it was covered under warranty, so I sent the $40 just to be safe). It was received by Creative on October 4, and sent back out on the 9th.
When I received it on October 25th, it was the wrong product! I IMMEDIATELY called, and was told that this would be escalated to supervisor status and someone would get right back to me. No one did. I then e-mailed on 0/27, and received a reply stating that they were sorry,(escalated meant a response by the next business day-I must have been misled), and was assured that someone would get back to me by the end of the day. Again, no one did. Additional e-mails were sent 0/3 and /2. Finally, I got a call on November 7th, with a message stating that they needed my credit card to send out another Zen, or else wait for a new RMA and shipping label to be sent to me, then I could return the wrong item and wait for them to mail me a Zen. They left a phone number (not toll-free), which I called, and was placed on hold for 20 mins!
After once again explaining to the Rep what had happened, and that this was my daughter's only Christmas present and how dissapointed she was, I was told once again that I needed to provide them with my credit card. This was NOT MY error! Based on the way this situation has been handled so far, I did not want to give it to him. Asked to speak to a supervisor, but was very politely told no. So, I gave them my card, and of course-was assured that I would receive an e-mail telling me what would happen next. Well, there has been no e-mail, and when I input the new RMA number, it said product has not been tested yet. What product?!? They lost the original player and battery! When I asked them if at least my daughter would be getting a brand new one, they couldn't confirm. "More than likely a reconditioned item" would be sent.
To top it all off, IF and WHEN this thing arri'ves, I then have to take a return label for UPS, travel several towns over, and mail back the wrong item or my credit card gets charged $200.00!
I'm sorry, but that is just poor business practice. Every day my daughter comes home from school looking for her player-too bad I have nothing to give her except more bad news. Young teens are a big part of the market these days-and I truly thought that getting her a Aen Micro would be a good thing, rather than an Ipod. I am now regretting that decision.
Thanks for letting me voice my frustration, but there is no one else to contact to get any satisfaction!

You are not alone in receiving this level of "service" from Creative. Last month I sent my Zen Touch in for repairs after it suddenly refused to turn on. It was received by Creative on Oct 20, and a replacement was sent out on October 3. Already I was a bit disappointed with the day turnaround, but when I received the shipment on November 8, I found I had been sent a Zen Xtra by mistake.
I immediately called Customer Service, and was pleased with the response from the rep, who apologised for the error and told me she would have the correct player sent out immediately with a prepaid return so I could send the mistakenly received player back to Creative. Problem solved, or so I thought.
Nine days later, on Nov 7, I received a call from Creative, asking for a credit card number so that they could ship me an advanced replacement. I told them I was shocked to learn that nothing had been done with my case for 9 days, and that I had expected to be receiving the replacement any day now, based on my last conversation with customer service.
After being told that I had to give them a credit card or ship back the mistaken shipment before they would ship me the correct player, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was put on hold for several minutes, and told that the supervisor was on another call at the moment, and he would call me back as soon as that call was completed. I'm still waiting, and after reading through these forums I'm beginning to think I'll have to reinitiate contact if I want to get anything resolved.
This is my first bad experience with Creative's customer service, and I have probably a dozen or more Creative products that I've been very happy with. However, I've never had to make a warranty claim with Creative before, and if this is any indication of the type of warranty service I can expect, I don't expect I or anyone I know will be sending much business their way in the future.

  • When ever I launch my safari, it will stay on for about a minute and then quits on me. It has a "safari quit unexpectedly" dialog box with a bunch of codes that I can send a report to apple. im not very good with this kind of thing, plz help!

Im not very good at troubleshooting, but I have played around with the system preferences. My airport connection is fine as well as the ethernet. Firewall says its not connected, (im not sure if that matters or not?)
I have subtracted my network from the list, restarted, and then put it back and and restarted...nothing seems to be working. Iam in the middle of a correspondace course and i really need my internet back...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    Then GULP, check for this...
Flashback - Detect and remove the uprising Mac OS X Trojan...
    http://www.mac-and-i.net/2012/04/flashback-detect-and-remove-uprising.html
In order to avoid detection, the installer will first look for the presence of some antivirus tools and other utilities that might be present on a power user's system, which according to F-Secure include the following:
    /Library/Little Snitch
    /Developer/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode
    /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.app
    /Applications/iAntiVirus/iAntiVirus.app
    /Applications/avast!.app
    /Applications/ClamXav.app
    /Applications/HTTPScoop.app
    /Applications/Packet Peeper.app
If these tools are found, then the malware deletes itself in an attempt to prevent detection by those who have the means and capability to do so. Many malware programs use this behavior, as was seen in others such as the Tsunami malware bot.

  • Not very happy with warranty replacement

I am not trying to get something for nothing when I make the statement that I am not happy with the replacement touch that apple sent me for my almost out of warranty touch that completely stopped working. I am happy with the customer service, the easy return and very quick replacement. I am not completely happy with the touch that was sent to me. I can't say that is broken, it is just doggish and seems to have a really short battery life. It really seems slower then my previous touch and has seems to do odd things often, like I open a simple app (like the calendar)and it opens for a second and closes immediately or the response to touch is very slow at times. There is nothing really wrong with it but this is the 3rd own I have owned and it is by far slowest and least responsive. Does anyone have any opinion on if I have any recourse?
Also, When I put in the serial # of this replacement, which I received on the 1st of this month, Apple website tells me that the warranty has expired. I know this to be wrong because of the paperwork enclosed with the replacement said thae warranty is 90 days or remaing period, whichever longer.

Send it (or take it to an Apple store with all the relevant paperwork) and get another one.
I bought 3 Touches in the middle of January for my kids and the youngest one's was similar; slow, bad battery life, wierd backlight glitch, apps crashing. Took it to the local retail store and they replaced it with no hassle. I didn't even have my receipt. It was a 4th gen so obviously was less than a year old.
EDIT: I are a gud spellar

  • Very pleased with New Macbook

Hi Everyone, I just recently (August 4th) bought my very first Mac. I was researching and brousing laptops for about 2 months and being an avid PC user I wanted to try something different and refreshing.
I was looking for a laptop for college. Mainly because my first year at UC Santa Cruz I dished out most of my summer job savings on a Gaming\Media PC and was left labtopless for an academic year. Now a new summer job is in session and I saved up enough cash to purchase a laptop for my second upcoming year at my Univeristy.
The new Macbook definitely caught my eye. It was perfectly priced and since I attend a University that free iPod Nano and educational discount was a sweet deal. I'm glad I held off one year to get a labtop, it totally paid off. Though it was kinda a pain to not have a laptop durring college, I managed very well with my Gaming PC, doing essays and late night coding and programming assignments. Hehe..
The Mac's OS is pretty sweet with all the visual eye candy and its super user friendly setup - its hard not to fall in love with it. Even though I still use my PC for HD Media and Gaming, (I love my PC to death since I built it from scatch) I find my self using my new Macbook for email, work, school, iChat, brousing the net, etc.
My new Macbook is simply amazing. I've had it for about one week and I've had absolutely no problems with it what so ever. It runs cool acording to this forum's standards, currently 41 C at room temperature and 35 C in my air conditioned room. Initially the mouse button on the trackpad would get stuck for a fraction of a second when you pressed it dead in the center but that little annoyance fixed itself as soon as I started using my Macbook more and more often and now it works perfectly. The battery works fine. All the app's run great. No crashes, no random reboots, nothing... yet. Though I will be dual booting Windows XP Pro soon.. See how that goes.
It really hurts to see so many people getting frustrated with their Macbooks.. I really wish that their situations would turn out to be more like mine. My compassion and sympathy go out to you all and I hope that soon, real soon, Apple fixes and irons out all the problems and that you become happy and satisfied with your Macbooks.
As a first-time Apple product user, it kinda worries me to hear and read about all the neglect that some long-time Apple users are receiving from apple care and public relations. I really hope this doesn't reflect the whole company as a whole. It would really dissapoint me if at this time of becoming a new Apple user, the Apple company started giving the cold shoulder and becoming disconnected from its customers. In my eyes Apple seemed to be that loving and customer caring company that tried its very best to become near and dear to its customers by providing unmatched quality products to it's loyal customer fan base. I really hope they don't veer away from this mind set.
Anyways the upshot is, I just wanted my first post to reflect how I feel about Apple and my Macbook and restablish some confidence in the Macbook. From my experience it's a great quality product and I hope to enjoy it for a long time. You guys will definitely get any updates as I use my Macbook and be hearing from me more often.. I've been reading a lot on this particualr forum but have been quiet untill now. Thanks for reading..

  • Help needed please with zen nano p

Hi all I got a new zen nano plus last week and have had a nightmare ever since. I was told that it was very straight forward to use (just cut and paste from windows media player into a bubble!) and I liked the extra features it had over the ipod shuffle. However, I loaded on the software and it loaded on okay, but the media source player went all strange and started to play music at a super fast bitrate. I stupidly thought if I unistalled it and started again, the problem would be solved. It got worse, 5 hours later and after losing loads of music I resorted to a sytem recovery. today i have spent a similar amount of time trying to reinstall the mp3. the player downloads okay however when I put a cd into rip it tells me I have an error and won't play. i have noticed when I do install it it goe's from about 20% to 99% and seems to miss out the rest. My compuetr also dosn't seem to like the fact that the media source won't download properly. however I don't seem to be able to completly uninstall in the control panel . it tells me that setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. anyone got any ideas please - cause i am being dri'ven insane

I use the free version of Music Match(www.musicmatch.com) to get music from CDs to mp3s on my hard dri've. If you want to transfer protected wma files(those purchased one at a time, not subscription music. The player doesn't support subscription music) to the player then use Windows Media Player 0. To Transfer mp3 files to the player, use Windows Explorer(right click on start, then click on explore). Use Windows Explorer to set up folders on the player (File, new, folder) then use Windows Eplorer to drag and drop files to the folders on the player. For music quality almost indistinguishable from the CD use 256 kb
    ps.
That will give you around 9 hours of music on a gig player. If you want 8 hours of music but lower sound quality then use 28 kb
    ps.
96 kbps is between the two. I use 256 kbps for my music.

  • Very Pleased With My Apple Books

Just wanted to post and say how pleased I am with my recent Apple book order. Last week, I received 2 copies of a hard cover book that I spent over 3 weeks working on and I couldn't be more pleased, especially after reading of all the issues folks have had lately.
It was photos from a terrific 2 week trip to Sicily my wife & I took in September with our sister-in-law & her husband. Both couples were celebrating wedding anniversaries along with my birthday, so it was a very special event for us to say the least. We traveled all over the island and I wanted to make a book for us to remember it.
I have done books in the past - from 2003 on using iPhoto 3 thru iPhoto 6 for numerous vacations to national Parks, family events but I have to say this was simply the BEST.
The details of the book were 42 pages with 130 photos in many different page layouts using the Travel Theme. After working on it for several hours, I would save as a Print To PDF and then review my work in the 2 Page up mode to make sure the travel theme, placements, picture selection and text was satisfactory.
For the record, the quality of my digital images going in was excellent as pictures were shot on a 10 MP Sony A100, in RAW format, used Aperture to edit down to a total of 130 for this Sicily 2007 Book.
We had them delivered in time for the family to see at Thanksgiving and everyone was completely blown away by the quality etc. Since then we have taken it to show friends and folks who were interested in Sicily, photography etc and they are very impressed.
I had looked at Ritz & others after reading of the many issues others but decided to stay with iPhoto 8 and Apple for this one and extremely pleased I did. Now on to creating several other books that were in the pipeline!

No, you cannot do this with iPhoto. You'll need an external editor to do this:
    Acorn
    Graphic Coverter
    Photoshop Elements
are three - the first two have generous trial periods before you need to purchase, so you can check them out thoroughly.

  • I am not very familiar with iMacs. When I turn this iMac (g5 i think) on you hear it start up but no visual besides blank grey screen.

Then a tiny folder with a face and a question mark flashing comes up. It will not read the discs I was given for Software Restore. I was wondering a few things:
    1. How can I find serial number? The foot does not have it because its broken. I cant get it to start up, so how can i get this info?
2.What Software Restore disc do I need to use?
    3. Is there any way I could restore it from a USB flash drive? How would I do this?
Please help I know I sound pretty stupid but I want to learn since i am unfamiliar with iMac.
    Thank You!!

It sounds like it can't find a valid operating system.  How old is this computer?
To boot from optical disc typically you insert the disc, then power up while holding down the C key.  If the discs still won't work we'll need more details about the computer and disc.
    G5s won't boot from USB.
