    Hello there,
Tried to go from version 1.3 to a new 1.4. Downloaded and unzipped .rom file. Copied the file to a Corsair usb memory flash drive, restarted the machine to BIOS and through M-Flash tried to reflash it. It found the file on the memory drive, said "the computer will restart in 5 seconds. It did so, started flashing, the progress bar went to 87% and then it just stopped. I let it sit there for an hour thinking that I just bricked a BIOS chip somehow. After restart I got a black screen .. Switched to a another BIOS chip (dual BIOS rock) started a PC normally.
Here is what I tried to do: Reformated the flash drive, redownloaded the 1.4 .rom file. Booted to a working BIOS, then switched to a bad BIOS, selected the .rom file on the memory stick, it said the same thing, 5 sec, reboot .. to a black screen. Tried this a few times. I also tried the Live Update utility in Windows, it reports that BIOS is up to date, while the switch is in bad BIOS, I guess it reads the BIOS info from somewhere before I switch the BIOS.
I bought this mobo with BIOS v 1.1, then using the same method successfully flashed it to 1.2 and 1.3, never touching the BIOS switch.
My question is: is there anything else I could try to recover bad BIOS chip? I dont want to RMA the board because of it, it works, and I can't afford the down time. Thank you for the input.

  • The activex control for flash player could not be registered.  Please help!

Can't install flash player.  Keep getting activex control for flash player could not be registered.  I have tried all of the solutions provided on this forum.  Running windows 7 32-bit running IE8.
    Please help.

Hi, Did you use the Administrator Account? If you received that message it is usually a Permissions Issue.
We have had several reports this past week of a Virus(AntiVirus8 or AV8) that can set a Kill-bit on the very Registry Key that FP uses for that ActiveX Control.
You may want to look and see if this is perhaps the problem. This needs to be ruled out first before we proceed, because if that key has the Kill-bit, then it wouldn't matter what you do.

  • Adobe Flash Player will not Start on IE 11

I am having a problem with the Adobe Flash Player plugin for IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Whenever I try to use the desktop version of IE 11 and try to load a page that has flash content on it, I get the following warning:
Whenever I click "Allow", the page refreshes, and instead of loading the flash content, I am asked once again if it is okay for the add-on to run. I do not know why the message the add-on request does not properly display the name. This issue is not limited to a single page, but rather happens anywhere where there is flash content. Whenever I disable the "Shockwave Flash Object" add-on, flash content still does not load, but this message does not appear.
As far as the Windows 8 version of IE (the "app version"), flash content does not load at all and I do not receive any prompt to allow it to load. What's causing this problem and how can I fix it?
So far, I have tried using the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" thingy to reinstall IE. I have done this multiple times in multiple ways. Sometimes I restart, sometimes I do not. Sometimes I uninstall Flash fist, sometimes I leave it installed. I have tried the IE refresh from the Internet Options and this also does not work. I am currently using Adobe Flash Player v14.0.0.125.

The test tree and clouds work fine for me as well and I have found that on some sites Flash will work but not on others.  Luckily, flash works fine on Google Chrome which I find I am using more and more requently rather than IE11!  Best work-around so far is to not use IE11 if consistent results for Flash are desired!

  • TECRA 9100 - power light flashes and will not start up system

my laptop will not start up - all I get when I push power on button is the power LED flashing the following sequence. S-S-S-S-L-L-L-S(S=SHORT, L= LONG)
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS CODE INDICATES.
The only thing I might have done was to put a screw (b8 which is 12mm) into the network card locking switch slot on bottom of laptop that says MAX 4mm .
Any info would be appreciated to [email protected]

    Hello
Unfortunately here is no public document about explanation of those hexadecimal codes and I can not tell you what it means exactly. The fact is that power supply electronic has detects some malfunction and sends code.
Sorry but I dont believe that you can do something alone. Try please to contact service partner in your country and explain them the situation.

Hi, zokszo. Welcome to the Discussions.
While the following Adobe tech note applies to Flash Player, you may find some of the steps therein helpful:"Troubleshooting Adobe Flash Player for Intel-based Macs."
    Otherwise, I suggest you:
    • Search Adobe's Macromedia Flash Support Center

I don't mean to send you somewhere else, but whenever one has problems with third-party applications, the first place to start troubleshooting is with the application's documentation, then vendor's web site. • Hp Pavilion Tx1000 Bad Bios Flash

Hi everyone, I recently bought and hp pavilion tx1000 series (tx1030la) it has the common overheating problem in wich the GPU chip desolders, I fixed it with the help of some youtube videos (the penny fix) and everything was working perfectly until I decided to update the BIOS, I downloaded the latest bios for the machine from the official hp webpage, ran it and everything was going ok, then suddenly the fan started spinning like crazy and the computer shutted itself down, I knew that bios update had possibly failed and waiting for the worse I turned the computer on, It did nothing other than beeping in a pattern of 1 long beep then two short beeps, after trying the CRISIS method for recovering the bios without luck I read somewhere that the beep pattern exposed by my machine has something to do with a gpu failure, I tried the Fix I did the first time to solve it with no luck, and now I don't know what else to do as there is very few information regarding to the tx1000 Bios failure, there are much people fixing a bad flashed BIOS in DvXXXX models but none on txXXXX models, right now I'm desperate and I need the computer so bad, I tried The CRISIS fix with an usb stick as I don't have an USB floppy and the process reaches a point at where the computer starts to making a buzz sound and then a beep, buzz sound beep, and it keeps on doing it but never really finishes the flashing procedure, it seems to be reading the usb drive on the beginning but nothing happes, if i hold the windows key + b or Fn key + B makes no difference, the computer does the same if the Usb stick is connected and has the files for CRISIS recovery, but if the usb is not plugged the computer keeps on its one long two short beeps, please some help me i really need the computer, is there any chance to recover it by CRISIS!?, I can also buy a damaged tx1000 motherboard and take out the bios chip and replace it in my machine, you think that this will work!?

I think the gpu has failed again, if the bios was dead you would get no beeps, it is the bios that generates the hardware failure beeps.
Home brew reflows generally do not last too long or can cause more damage.
The reason the gpu comes loose on most of that vintage was due to 2 problems
    1. Overheating
    2. Poor quality solder used when the gpu and other motherboard components were flowed at the factory.
Reflowing it does not always work because of the quality of the ball solder they used, also you only get one reflow attempt, doing more than one weakens the original solder even more. Most likely the seller reflowed it shortly before selling it to you.
Proper repair is what is called a reball (solder replacement) of the gpu, not may repair facilities have the equipment to performed this, and is usually expensive procedure depending on the motherboard design.

  • 1.9 bad bios Flash - yes again

I updated my bios through Live Update to 1.9 and ended up with a corrupt bios. I followed the instructions here for recovering from this but have had no success. When I put the floppy in and turn on the power the screen flashes with "Award Block Bios Ver 1.0 - Bios Rom Checksum Error - Detecting Floppy Drive A Media - Drive Media 1.44MB and then it just shuts down. I pretty sure I followed the instructions to the letter so I am really stumped. The one thing that may have a bearing is that my file system is NTFS but i don't know. What I did
I formatted a floppy ticking "Create an ms-dos startup disk", this was my boot disk.
I then copied the award bios program and bios file to this floppy.
Then I created an autoexec.bat file as per the instructions, it was simply "awfl859G w7030NMS.190". I then used this disk to recover the system/bios with no luck. I am beginning to think I am sunk and would appericate any assistance on what else I might do or indeed if I am missing something. My mobo is a K8N Neo Plat and had Bios 1.7 installed previous to this.

Here is what Syar said today in an other thread:
"To try to boot properly and do a reflash :
Turn off , remove AC .
Disconnect drives from the controller(s) , any usb devices , use a ps2 keyboard and only one memory module in slot1 .
reset cmos with a minimal hw setup (do a long one with battery removed , give it 15 minutes )
Revert the cmos jumper to "keep" mount the battery and restore AC .
Try booting to a startup msdos floppy .
Problem with liveupdate is that it doesnt update/flash bootblock .
With some bios - bios versions this gives bad results as perhaps some dependency is broken .
If it wont work you need the bios chip reprogrammed some other way (eprom programmer/hotflash/badflash.com service etc)"
The only thing I would add is maybe it could work if you created a windows 98 floppy boot disk with cd rom support plus a cd with the flash programs (flash utility and old bios that worked before) on it.  Boot with the floppy and once the cd is recognized copy the flash programs to virtual ramdrive c: and then run the flash program with the correct switches from ramdrive c:
Don't know if that will work as Syar says (with or without floppy-cd combination) but please post back and let us know how it goes.  Good luck.
EDIT- In case you are too young to know dos - The dos commands to get programs from cdrom drive d to virtual drive c and then to flash from drive c would be as follows:
    D: [enter]
    copy *.* c: [enter]
    c: [enter]
    then type [the flash program] [the bios file name] /py /sn /wb /cc /cd /cp /f /e [enter]

  • Acer Aspire One -- Its protected against bad BIOS Flashes

I found on the site http://macles.blogspot.com there is a way to flash the system bios of the netbook should something go wrong. It involves a flash drive, renaming a bios bin file and pressing function and escape on bootup.. You might want to go to that site and check it out , this trick has come in handy for those who had their 120 gb  version of the AA1 with the monitor going out. This trick restores the monitor.

What can i doo??? Im 15 so i dont have money to go around buying motherboards! How can i fix my rig? Please help

POST is the initial checkdowns prior to the point the OS initiates and the UEFI/BIOS can be accessed. Boot is the actual entering into the OS and desktop.
In your manual, it should explain the location of the clear CMOS button or clear CMOS jumper location.
If nothing helps, the choices are few. Have a shop in your area that has an SPI flash programming device fix it for you, or send the board to an MSI Service Center after submitting and receiving an RMA authorization.

  • DV6815NR Bad BIOS Flash

Trying to repair an afore mentioned CD/DVD Drive problem, I thought that maybe an older BIOS might have some effect..
So I flashed with F22....  No luck...
    So, I flashed with F25..
    DISASTER strikes!!
When I powered up after the flash, I get just a blank black screen.  Indicator lights are on, and the fan is spinning quite heavily, but nothing else.
Did I just create a PARTS machine???
    Michale

    Just following up on this...
I have since got a USB floppy drive and here is the procedure I use to try and flash this DV6815nr
    1. Take the battery out of the laptop.
    2. Hook up a USB floppy drive and insert the Crisis Recovery Disk.
    3. Hold the WINDOWS and 'B' keys.
    4. Plug the power adapter into the laptop.
    5. Push the power button of the laptop.
    6. Once I see the floppy disk being accessed I release the WINDOWS and 'B' keys.
    7. After about 30 seconds, the laptop starts random beeps. I have since learned that this is normal.
    8. The Floppy disk is accessed and the laptop beeps for about 2.5 minutes.
    9. Once the beeps and the disk access stops, I let it sit for another couple minutes.
    10. Power down the laptop.
When I power it back up, it just sits. All the LEDs are on, the HD accesses a couple times real quick at the start and then.... Nothing.
I have tried 3 or 4 different BIOS files (both A and B versions) and I have also tried several PHLASH16.EXE versions.   All with no luck.
Can anyone confirm whether or not this DV6815nr CAN be flashed??  It appears to go thru all the right motions.  It beeps and accesses the floppy drive like it's flashing.
I am really at a loss here and this is such a nice laptop..
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
    Michale

  • MSI K7N420 - Bad BIOS Flash - HELP !!!

I recently tried to install v2.70 of the K7N420 BIOS ...
i booted up my computer .. all was going well .. until the last section of the progress indicator.
my system hung at this point for a LONG time.
so i assumed maybe the BIOS was done flashing, and i really had no choice at that moment.
    well it didn't post.
so i slapped in a PCI vid card and i got it to post.
says something about Award BootBlock ...
im guessing this is the "recovery" BIOS.
it asks me for a system DISK so i put one in with it to automatically flash the BIOS.
problem is .. it says that the bios is "write-protected" and to check my jumpers.
well ... i checked the manual, only reference to BIOS and jumpers is the one to clear CMOS, i tried that and no luck.
i also tried the /Wb command during flashing to write to BootBlock and again no luck.
anyone know maybe where these "jumpers" are or what i can do ???
i REALLY need to get this computer up and running.
    Thanx!

well i tried what gfilitti suggested... twice actually ... the second time leaving the battery out for over  3 hours ....
yet no luck ... ill detail EXACTLY what happens when i turn on PC.
Mainboard without pci gfx card (using onboard) = NO POST
When i insert my old ATI 3dxpression+... computer boots up (shows spinning ati logo while video BIOS loads)
then my mainboard loads and this is what it says:
    Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
    CMOS Checksum Error
    Insert System Disk.
so i insert a bootable disk i made (also tried using win98se bootdisk and placing bios files in RAMdrive)..
goes to the BIOS update screen...
    says this:
    Erasing Flash - 0FE00 ok
then the progress indicator loads and then i get an erroe msg as follows:
    Flash ROM is write protected
Please make sure whether lockout jumpers is set to
    correct or not
    Warning: program chip fail
PS-> i CAN'T access BIOS menu by pressin DEL like before.. all i get is the BootBlock v1.0 screen.

  • Bad Bios Flash Z77MA-G45, anything I can do?

First of all I wish I would have read this forum first before following MSI's instructions on how to flash the bios because I now have a dead board. So yesterday I decided to update my bios because I got some new RAM and since the latest update said it improved memory compatibility I figured it was a good idea just in case. I downloaded the latest 1.B, copied it to a FAT32 formatted USB drive, used MFlash to backup the current Bios and then selected the option "Select one file to update BIOS and ME". It went through the flash process and after a few minutes all I had was a black screen. I waited at least 20 to 30 minutes before powering off and back on the system and now it turns goes through a loop of powering on for a second or two and off.
I followed the directions to clear the bios by removing the power cord and shorting JBAT1 which didn't help so I removed the battery with the cord unplugged and waited at least 30 minutes before trying again which of course didn't help. I did some research about restoring the bios and tried putting the bios on a usb drive, removed all cards and disconnected all the SATA ports and plugged it into a rear USB2 port and nothing helped. I also tried doing this with a PS2 keyboard plugged in and hitting CTRL+Home that I saw mentioned somewhere and it didn't help. This method seems to be the only option to fix the board without sending it in for RMA and I want to make sure I have tried everything including following the correct process to restore my bios. I read something about USB geometry which I never heard of setting before and it being picky about USB drives. Any help that can be provided will be beyond greatly appreciated because I really need this system backup and running.
    Quick edit
I forgot to mention that I tried removing all the ram except for one stick which I tried in both DIMM 1 closest to the CPU and DIMM 2. Also when trying to recover the BIOS I tried the USB stick in every single USB 2 port on the back of the board and none helped. Also if it will help with diagnoses I can shoot a quick video of what the system is doing and upload it to youtube.

There may be something useful in this thread, but I do believe your board needs to go in for service.
