Now shuffle wont work or controls to go to next song or previous

Anyone run into this issue - my controls wont work on my itunes - running latest version. just plays the song i pick but wont go to next one even if I press next or previous. Also shuffle wont work. Any ideas? I downloaded 7.2 again and pressed fix and also restarted machine and nothing. If I un-install itunes will that get rid of my library _ I have over 46 gigs music and dont want to lose it but I can use itunes like this. Or can I switch back to old version of itunes which worked fine. Thanks for help

its ok - found that i had inadvertenly unclicked all the check buttons so it wasnt going to next song

That and when I plug the shuffle in to the comp iTunes doesn't reconize that the shuffle is pluged in.

I'm having the same problem! My good-for-nothing brother has formatted iPod shuffle through "My Computer" and now it won't work. Neither iTunes nor iPod software updater recognise the thing. To be honest, neither application even start when the shuffle is plugged in! And now I've just read that apple says you "SHOULD NOT FORMAT" shuffle. What am I to do? Have I lost my iPod for ever?

k, so I tried installing the new update for itunes and now it wont work at all. it says that the mobile device isnt installed. i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 4 times now.

Yes I'm aware of that. The procedures are also for trying in cases where iTunes can't be reinstalled due to a "Could not start Apple Mobile Device service" message.
If you're getting a different error message relating to the Apple Mobile Device Service (or Apple Mobile Device Support) when you try to reinstall iTunes, post back to let us know what that error message says. (Precise text, please.)

it wont even turn on, it keeps going back and forth between the black screen and then the apple mark pops up for a few seconds, and then turns back to the black screen again... and that just keeps going on...

Seems like ios6 isn't any good for any of their devices. I have an iPhone 4 and recently updated to ios6 and have had all the wifi problems and apps getting hung up on load screens. Restore is your best bet and downgrade if you can back to ios 5.1. If restore doesn't help with a fresh install of ios6 then call every Apple support number you can find and be heard like the 1,000s of other people like us with ios6 problems demanding support. There doesn't seem to be any quick fixes for ios6 other than an update from Apple.

First of all, try resetting the iPod. It may take several attempts and is best done connected power.
Then download the iPod Updater, install this to your computer, restart the computer, run the Updater, then connect your iPod when prompted (not before), then follow the set up procedure.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Keep trying. The update server is overloaded. You will eventually get through and your update will continue where it left off.
I got the error message about 12 times before it finally connected and continued.

You know, It's kinda rediculous...
Apple used to be known for it's quality control... now they are letting things like this happen on a regular basis.

I have reset last night now it wont work HELP!!!!

I have reset 'Erase All Content and Settings' and now my phone wont work, I have tried to put it into recovery, that worked but turn it back on again and it stays on the apple and the loading circle doe nothing else, I dont know what to do, it the goes blank then does it all again

Do the following:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
