Null Datasource context

i'm getting the data source context as nulll.....
what may be the reason and how to get rid of this?
I'm previously working with this datasource.
thanks in advance

Thank-you all very much for replying!
To gypsy617, we're both using Tyrex. At least I noticed we both had Tyrex jar files and not the other sort. I assume this means that they don't have an LE version of Tomcat?
To patreck, I did set the datasource in the context section of the server.xml file, but I'm pretty sure that's what you're supposed to do and works on my machine. Or are you talking about the driver location. I've put this in the $CATALINA_HOME/common/lib directory, which also works on my machine.
To duffymo, why is this so different to the JNDI Resources HOW-TO?? Very strange. I've found it really hard to get access to the main server (annoying!!) but will this afternoon - I'll let you know how it goes. Also strange that I'm using Tyrex on my machine without everything they mention in this document and it works fine! But I'll give it a go anyway!
Thanks very much to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Louise.

    HI,
    I have been trying to generate service and client from WSDL using Jdeveloper11 and im unable to progress on this particular WSDL, i was succesfull in creating the client and service for a sample Apache WSDL using the Jdeveloper. If anyone can point out the issue in this WSDL or is there a bug in Jdeveloper when handling complex type? i attach the WSDL that i used, now note that the WSDL calls for another WSDL import witin it, if i comment out the import and its bindings im able to proceed,

    And the error i get is [fatal error] null databinding context encountered when creating service.
    Steps i followed:
    1. Created a new project in Jdev
    2. Right clicked on project to expand Business Tier - Web Services nodes. Selected the Java web Service from WSDL.
    3. Selected WSDL to convert
    ---Says it is Fetching WSDL
    ---then says building model
    --and pops error : [fatal error] null databinding context encountered.
    Any suggestions? I'm unable to get this issue fixed for a long time.

    Hey guys,
    I couldnt get this fixed in jdeveloper, i finally gave up on using Jdeveloper for Web service creation.
    I went back to my eclipse3.2.2 and used the Eclipse WTP 1.5.4 and guess what, it had no issues generating the service and client for my WSDL.
    I am not sure Jdeveloper can compete with Eclipse functionality and ease.

  • Null connection context using java wrapped wwsec_api

    How can I specify my OID connection information when using the PL/SQL wwsec_api with java wrappers?
    I am getting a null connection context, and I assume that it is looking for the directory connection information (OID host,port,user,password).
    Is this somehow specified in the .properties file?
    The java was created with Jpublisher per the Jdeveloper help instructions. Following is a code snippet using the java classes created.
    String userName = "username";
    WwsecApi anWwsecApi = new WwsecApi();
    WwsecApiRowtypeSql3 userInfo = (WwsecApiRowtypeSql3)anWwsecApi.personInfo(userName);

  • SQLException: found null connection context

    Using JDeveloper, I set up a connection with success. However, running the program generates the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: found null connection context
    The error persists even when I use [contextNameFromtheConnection] with #sql{...};
    Thanks for your time.
    null

    You need to set your connection at runtime in your program. For example, to set the default connection:
    oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle.connect("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl","scott","tiger");
    Or, if you have created a JDBC connection conn you could reuse that as follows.
    oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle.connect(conn);
    Hope this helps. -- Ekkehard

  • JNDI datasource context LifeCycleException

    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to set up connection pooling in Tomcat 4.1.27 on Linux using MySQL. I followed the directions from Jakarta here http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/printer/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
    And I put the mysql connector .jar file in Tomcat's common/lib directory.
    However, when I start up Tomcat, my webapp doesn't load. There is no error message in the logs or on the console at startup. It just silently fails. Then when I shutdown Tomcat this error appears:

    Yeah, I've got those all set up.
    However, now the application is working, connecting to the DB and everything. The problem was that the deployed .war file was not expanding. The JNDI context specifies and directory with the app name, but there was none because the .war file was not expanded as it usually is automatically in Tomcat.
    So I manually expanded it and now the app works. However, I'd like to know why the .war archive was not being automatically expanded.

  • Flow of DataSource, Context, ctx.lookup

    Im having problem understanding how my web app worked.
    Im using this example
    http://localhost:8080/tomcat-docs/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.htm
    i started to change the names in the server.xml, web.xml and DBTest.java for my own web application.
    My question is are the following correct places to look at/change to make the connection work? Is there anything i missed?
    server.xml
    <Context path=................
    <Resource name="jdbc/TestDB" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource" />
    <ResourceParams name="jdbc/TestDB">
    web.xml
    <resource-ref>
    <description>DB Connection</description>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/TestDB</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    DBTest.java
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/TestDB");
    Changing TestDB to something else.

    yes. this is the correct sequence. got it working finally.

    On Note 557738.1 - Export/Import, Section 5 Step 4, I executed "perl dpost_imp.pl dpost_imp.drv" on the source server and created the required driver. Moved to the target and when applying with adpatch, it failed with:

    I opened an SR yesterday and after many hours, I was told to:
    a) backup current file dpostimpl.drv
    b) edit driver file dpostimpl.drv and made the following change
    # dpost_imp.drv generated by dpost_imp.pl
    begin aru fix_postimp
    compatible release 12.0.0

    begin bug au fix_postimp
    begin actions
    c) Save and re-try apply driv dpostimpl.drv via autopatch.
    I did the changes, ran adpatch and the error is still there:
    adpatch logfile=dpost_imp.drv2.log patchtop=/EBS_12i_downloads/patches driver=dpost_imp.drv workers=8
    AutoPatch error:

    Has someone got knowledge of what is needed here?You are applying an 11i patch (as you are following [ID 557738.1]) so the "compatible release 12.0.0" line is not correct and it should be "compatible release 11.5.0" instead. Are you sure you are referring the steps in (Export/import notes on Applications 11i Database 11g [ID 557738.1]) not the steps in (Export/import process for R12 using 11gR1 or 11gR2 [ID 741818.1]) or (Export/Import Process for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 using 10gR2 [ID 454616.1])?
    Have you already updated the SR with the outcome of their change?
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Datasource null within ServletContextListener

    I'm using Tomcat 5.0.18 with jdk 1.4.1_05. I have a class in my webapp which is a ServletContextListener. The aim is to put a Datasource object in the application scope when the context is started/ended.
    Now, a datapool is defined in the <DefaultContext> section of the server.xml file as normal.
    I have an application-specific context in the server.xml file also which defines if my app is reloadable and the path to my codebase.
    Now, before I used to hit a servlet specially to cache the datasource in the application scope each time. So using this method it should cache the datasource upon context initialization automatically.
    What i get is a null Datasource and says something like "jdbc is not defined in this context" - something on those lines. I'm baffled as everything is defined in <defaultcontext> and so lookups in java:comp/env/jdbc/blah should work.
    Do you think because I add an application-specific context in the server.xml it ignores the <defaultcontext> ? This is only a temporary entry because i don't like to put app specific lines in the server.xml. I like to have a "global" datasource defined as I have in <defaultcontext>
    Is this a bug with Tomcat ?

    ..and yes, I have defined the listener in the web.xml
    (i use http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=494937&forum=33&message=2335813 as a reference) but I think it's not helpful to me - because from the init() section of say a SimpleServlet i can "get access" to the jdbc source thru jndi naming without problem. I just can't get it from within a ServletContextListener. What's different ??

  • Error when using OC4J Datasource

    Hi,
    A customer is using a Servlet to run in an OC4j instance and is using EJB's for data DML.
    To work around the possibility that XMLTypes are not supported we do an update in the DoPost.
    public void ejbPostCreate(String mediumnummer, String inzender, String inhoud, PrlBerichttypeLocal prlBerichttypeLocal)
    OracleConnection oconnection = null;
    OraclePreparedStatement opstmt = null;
    CLOB tempCLOB = null;
    try
    oconnection = (OracleConnection)getConnection();
    String sql = "";
    sql += "update prl_xml_berichten SET ";
    sql += "INHOUD = XMLTYPE(?) where id = ?";
    opstmt = (OraclePreparedStatement)oconnection.prepareCall(sql);
    System.out.println(sql);
    System.out.println("username : "+ oconnection.getMetaData().getUserName());
    tempCLOB = CLOB.createTemporary(oconnection,true,CLOB.DURATION_SESSION);
    Writer writer = tempCLOB.getCharacterOutputStream();
    writer.write(inhoud);
    writer.flush();
    writer.close();
    opstmt.setCLOB(1,tempCLOB);
    opstmt.setLong(2,id.longValue());
    boolean test = opstmt.execute();
    tempCLOB.trim(0);
    if (!test) System.out.println("Succes !!!!");
    else System.out.println("Failure!!!");
    // connection.commit();
    catch (Exception exc)
    System.out.println("Fout bij inhoud update ");
    exc.printStackTrace();
    finally
    try
    if (opstmt != null) opstmt.close();
    if (oconnection != null) oconnection.close();
    System.out.println("create dopost gedaan...");
    catch (SQLException sqlex)
    sqlex.getMessage();
    System.out.println("Fout bij afsluiten dopost");
    When they are using the getConnection from the Datasource:
    private Connection getConnection() throws NamingException, SQLException
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext();
    DataSource dataSource = null;
    // Look up data source object in directory service using JNDI
    dataSource = (DataSource)context.lookup("jdbc/prlDS");
    // Establishing db connection
    return dataSource.getConnection();
    The following error occurs:
    username : PRL
    create dopost gedaan...
    com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: javax.ejb.EJBException: java.lang.AbstractMethodError: oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection.unwrap()
    java.rmi.RemoteException com.evermind.server.ejb.EJBUtils.getUserException(java.lang.Throwable, boolean) EJBUtils.java:263
    java.lang.String CheckIn_StatelessSessionBeanWrapper8.checkInMessage(java.lang.String[]) CheckIn_StatelessSessionBeanWrapper8.java:126
    When we change it to the connection setup with a hard string it does work:
    private Connection getConnection() throws NamingException, SQLException
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
    return DriverManager.getConnection(Receiver.DATASOURCE);
    Does anybody have an idea what the difference is with the direct connect string or the datasource from OC4J.
    I attached the full error and the datasource.xml.
    Regards,
    Remco

    Hi Remco,
    You may not be aware of this, but the "Connection" returned from a "DataSource" is not necessarily the same as the one returned from "DriverManager". If I remember correctly, there was a similar question to yours posted to this forum, not so long ago. As I recall, Steve Button mentioned that there are emulated and non-emulated "Connection"s. I saw no mention in your post regarding which version of OC4J you are using, so I will assume the latest, stand-alone, production version (9.0.3). The Data Sources chapter of Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE Services Guide has more details.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Error while retriving the connection uisng JNDI and DATASOURCE

    hi guys,
    i had a specifed data source in the the data-sources.xml of CONFIG folder of my application
    <data-source class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl"
    connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" location="jdbc/OracleDS_native"
    name="OracleDS"
    password="abc"

    what might be the problem??
    regards
    Phani

    Phani,
    From the contents of your "data-sources.xml" file that you posted, it looks like you are using a pre-10.1.3.x version of OC4J (stand-alone?), so Jason's link may not be helpful.
    Nonetheless, as Jason mentions, you do need to set some properties that need to be passed to the "InitialContext" class constructor. Probably something like the following.
    [Note that the code is uncompiled and untested.]
    Properties prp = new Properties();
    prp.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
            "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    prp.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://oc4j_host");
    prp.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "user");
    prp.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "password");
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(prp);
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) context.lookup("jdbc/OracleDS_native");And replace "oc4j_host" with the name of your OC4J host machine as well as "user" and "password" with the appropriate values.
    Note that you can probably use the OC4J admin user's details.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
