Number field displays differently on two systems.

I have a ColdFusion front end/Oracle backend application I inherited from the company that lost the contract to my company. In one screen, there is a field the customer wished to increase from NUMBER (10,3) to NUMBER (10,8). After researching and conferring with the Gov't DBAS supporting the production and test systems, it was suggested that I just alter the field to plain NUMBER, I did so on my Development system and changed the CF code to allow for proper display. It worked quite well. I had the Gov't DBAs change the field in the production and test databases to match. I then FTP'd the CF code to the test system. It allows for entry and initial display of the new field size, but upon saving it (unlike my Development test) truncates/rounds up (i.e.- 123.87654321 becomes 123.87700000). I have ensured the proper code is there and verified with the Gov't DBAs that the databases matches my Develop database. What things could cause this problem? It has me baffled. All the instances are identical and the code on Development and Test is identical. Any ideas?

There are 2 different concepts of number here. You should not mix them up.
With Number, there is no explicit precision and no explicit scale. That is, there are no arguments p, s. In that case, Oracle stores a number in the form d * 10^s, where d is a number that can have up to 38 digits and s ranges between -84 and 127. This is similar to the so-called scientific notation.
However, your original question is about 123.87654321. You want this number to differ from 123.87700000. These are decimals, which imply you require precision and scale. The number 123.87654321 requires the type Number(11,8). You had allocated Number(10,8) to it, which falls short.
I also notice that the conversion 123,87700000 has a comma. If that is indeed so, and not just a typing mistake, then it means two things: (1) The conversion already occurred, even before the database, in a locale in which a comma is used as decimal separator; (2) the database column is not of numeric type.

% DB increase differs for two system from the same landscape

I have done upgrade and then unicode conversion for the two system- sandbox and development from 4.6 C to ECC 6.0 with oracle 10 G and AIX 5.3
On sandbox % db( used db size in DB02 ) increase is 60 to 80 which is as per SAP figures after unicode conversion however on dev it is almost 150 % .
Has anybody faced the same problem before or can you suggest somthing for this tremendous data growth
Also what I have observed is threre are 7 tablespace on sandbox and 8 on Dev with "PSAPSR370" as the additional one on DEV ( PSAPSR3700 is different )
Please help me on this

the database growth depends heavily on the content. Which languages do you have installed in your system and which modules are used by your company?
I think the normal growth should be in a range of zero to 30 percent. The lower end comes from the reorganization effect due to the migration and 30 percent comes due to the fact that most data is normally numeric and numbers are the same with or without Unicode. But in rare situations it could be possible to see much higher values. The reason is, that Oracle, and also DB2, are using UTF-8 encoding if you're running your system as Unicode system. In UTF-8 a two byte Unicode character could be encoded in up to four bytes. That means if your systems contains lots of double byte characters it could grow much more than 30% but it seems unusual to me.
Are you sure that nothing was wrong with your migration?

Smartforms output different in two systems

Hi Gurus,
I've a smartform in Q and Prd. Versions are same but the font and style look different in both systems. In Q, the form is in bold, but not in Prd. Is it related to printer settings? What to check in SPAD? Both systems use LOCL printer. I also noticed the device type in SPAD is different. Does it impact the font?

     1) If you have used smartstyle for font, check if it is transported to PRD. It may still be in QAS.
     2) Get the smartform backup from PRD and upload it in DVT and transport to QAS.
     Now check the output in QAS.

Same font appears different in two systems

The problem principally lies with transaction MM03 (Material Master - Display). The material description in "Additional Data" tab in any Material View is appearing to be of different fonts in two different client systems.
Upon checking, I found that both systems use the same font (Arial Monospace for SAP) with fotn size of 9.
Hence, I am not able to understand the difference in appearance of the two.
I have tried comapring I18N settings of both the systems. Please suggest a way to get rid of this problem.

Discoverer Report: A number field displays # when open in Desktop Edition

I have created a folder in Admin Edition. I set Default Aggregation to Detail for Numeric fields.
I have created a workbook in Desktop Edition. When I open workbook(report) it displays # in numeric fields.
ANy idea why?

Any format change you make inside the EUL will generally only apply to new reports.
If the report already exists it will have picked up the format as it was at the time. You will have to manually adjust the format of the column inside the report.
Before you do this these is one more thing to check. Just grab the edge of the column and make it bigger just in case this is the cause. Desktop will not display part of the number so if the width of the column is not big enough to display the number Desktop will insert # instead. If this is not the case then right-click in the column and select Format Data. Using the Number tab increase the setting.

Colors display differently between two files

I've created two billboard files; one is 96" x 48" and the other is 48" x 48". Both files were created one right after the other with identical graphics. There is one rgb jpeg of the sky, and a vector graphic with a Pantone fill. The vector graphic has a drop shadow and is in a layer above the jpeg.
The 96" panel appears fine.
The jpeg in the 48" panel becomes noticeable darker when I apply the drop shadow to the vector graphic. Before the drop shadow is applied, the jpeg is quite saturated in appearance. Once the drop shadow is applied the entire jpeg becomes noticeably darker.
If I export both files as jpegs, from InDesign, the results are completely different. All of my color settings are identical for both files.
If I turn on Proof Colors in the view menu, both files darken to the appearance of the 48" file.
Why does the 48" file darken when I apply a drop shadow, and not the 96" file?
ID CS4 6.0.4, iMac G5, OS 10.5.8

Transparency Blend space is cmyk; Flattening was low but I've changed it to medium. The Pantone fill is a spot color. Final output will be jpegs exported from ID and sent to a sign shop.
Working spaces are Adobe RGB (1998) and US Sheetfed Coated V2. The image in the files is a jpeg with an embedded Adobe RGB (1998) profile.
Right or wrong, both files have identical settings so why was one displaying so differently from the other?
I recreated the offending file from scratch and it is now behaving as I intended it to. I have a lot of these files on the go and I'm wondering if one of the them might have been created in CS3 and the other in CS4. Perhaps there is an issue with a legacy file being upgraded to CS4 as opposed to being created in CS4.

Last changed date different between two systems after transport

Hi, first of all, I am not from basis background and just want to make sure whether is this something correct or not.
I found that the "Last changed date" and "username" are not same between the original system and the target system. Is this something configurable?
And the "username" field is totally empty. However, the program code's version is identical in both systems.

I think I misunderstood your question. You are referring to the system Transports not the connections between systems. If the Transports are not transferring all the contents, you really should talk to your basis folks and tell them which items are not being reproduced correctly.

Filter on a field displayed differently than stored

I want to filter a table on a field which is an IP address but represented as a single number in the database and not xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt.
but for user friendlyness, it's better to input the field as an IP on the jsp page.
but i don't know how to do that ? where can i do this transformation nicely ?

Why does the text display differently on two different computers?

I created a Keynote presentation on my G5 which contains some slides with type. I copied the presentation to my MacBook Pro, which I use for presentations, and the text moved! I had some that was fine, but some where the whole text block moved and some text that reflowed. I did not get any font error messages and both computers are using the same fonts which I control using Suitcase Fusion. Any suggestions?

Number field does not display trailing zero after decimal

I have a Text Item of type number with size set to 6.
if the database value = 19.10, the
number field displays 19.1
I want to display the complete 19.10 in the field.
How do I do it?

SET FORMAT MASK property of text item to 990D00.
If the value is just "10" ie without decimal, displayed will be "10.00".

Your Skype number is displaying differently on your caller ID?
I'm also having the same issue, for weeks now.
Either it would say I'm calling from a private number, or a number completely diffferent than the phone number I'm paying for.
Here's what you do to fix it:
Step 1: Log into your Skype account here: https://secure.skype.com/account
Step 2: On the Call Phones tab, click the Caller identification link, then click select a pre-saved number (to change it back to normal, or enter a new number, i.e your own cell phone number to be displayed)
Step 3: Choose your Online Number from the drop-down list and Save. Your Online Number is now set as your Caller ID.

Difference in the display/rendering between two 7.4 portal systems

Hi everyone,
At this moment we are faced with a difference in the display/rendering between two 7.4 portal systems (see red area’s in screenshots). Both systems are green field installations.
At our LAB system with EP-BASIS 1000.7.40.7.0.20140421205300 and EP-RUNTIME 1000.7.40.7.0.20140414131600 the portal is rendered as follows:
Our development system DEV is based on EP-BASIS 1000.7.40.8.7.20141217073700 and EP-RUNTIME 1000.7.40.8.13.20150106224500. The portal is displayed as follows:
Both portal systems use the standard SAP Gold Reflection theme.
The expectation was that the DEV portal would have the same view as the LAB portal. Unfortunately, it appears that the DEV portal falls back to the older standard SAP Tradeshow theme when displaying (for example) the Portal Content Studio or the UWL. Different stylesheets (CSS) are loaded. There is no unified rendering and in our opinion this is not correct.
SCN provides much information about the various rendering problems that exists in the use of Internet Explorer in combination with the SAP Portal. However, it is unclear to us where to start with the analysis of this problem.
Answers / suggestions to the following questions will be highly appreciated:
Is it correct that the portal by default should make use of UR when the SAP Gold Reflection theme is used?
Is the difference of rendering caused by the difference in the versions of the EP BASIS / EP RUNTIME? (DEV portal has higher SP/patch level than LAB);
How to investigate this issue further and finally solve it?

Regarding the GOLD Reflection theme from a general perspective this is supported only alongside the UFP framework.
SAP Gold Reflection supports only Unified Rendering Lightspeed
In relation to your two other queries. Could you kindly clarify which particular version of IE you are presently running and also if compability mode is presently enabled/disabled?

Trying to developing SRM Co-Exist/Global strategy, based on the following scenario:
1. Two different SRM client systems, each at DIFFERENT SRM Version/Release Level. SRM system "A" runs in Stand-Alone and Extend Classic Scenario mode. SRM system "B" runs in Classic Scenario mode
2. Two different R/3 back-end systems, each with SAME R/3 4.7 Version/Release Level.
Question 1: Can the two (2) different SRM client systems be connected to one (1) of the R/3 back-end systems?
Question 2: Are there any Basis Plug-In (PI_BASIS) issues/difficulties to consider from either the SRM client or R/3 back-end side?
Question 3: Does each SRM client need it own unique transaction document type(s) and number range(s) definitions?
Question 4: Are there any other difficulties, for example, with RFC and Partner Profile related definitions and what are the steps to address/resolve difficulties?

Make sure that you have unique consumer entries for Middleware for Material replication, RFCs etc

Yes you need to have them.

Don't see any difficulties as long as the a structured approach is followed.

Yes you can have same number range for different fields by using the same domain to the data elements that are user to your two fields.
To see the range:
Go to SE11,Type table Name open it-->double click on the DataElement adjasent to the field name ,You will get Domian ,Double click on Domain You will get Domain.There See Value range option .Value range cam also be defined by Value Table which will also at the Doamin level.

Having one field display the text of a different field in a statis form

Hi All--
My goal is to pull back a single value and display it in two fields, using a static form and formhandler. When a co-worker had both fields with the binding used to retrieve the value, he found that the population for the field was getting garbled, and not displaying what we needed or had pointed at. My proposed solution is to retrieve the data once using a binding, then have the 2nd field populate basedon what content is in the first... but I don't know how to do this. Any assistance would, as always, be appreciated. Thanks!

Certainly binding two fields to a single value in the data is acceptable. I have done that many times without issue. Can you try it and verify that you are having an issue? If it is still happening can you provide the template and a sample data file?
