Number of secs for TimeZone string

Hello,
I have a query related to date /time.
I need to generate the number of seconds based on timezone string. I need C code for unix(solaris platform). My application gets the input with timezone string. I need to generate the number of sec for the offset with respest to UTC.
For e.g:
I/p = "GMT" -> Offset with UTC is 00:00:00 thus O/p = 0 sec.
I/p = "IST" -> Offset with UTC is +00:05:30 thus O/p = 19800 sec.
I/p = "EST" -> Offset with UTC is -00:05:00 thus O/p = -18000 sec.
Thus for any I/p Timezone string, I need to generate the proper offset number of sec w.r.t UTC
Thanks,
Rajan

Hi,
you can make use of string operation FIND as:
DATA: text1 TYPE string VALUE `A`,
         text TYPE string,
      off  TYPE i,
      moff TYPE i,
      mlen TYPE i.
off = 0.
WHILE sy-subrc = 0.
  FIND text1 IN SECTION OFFSET off OF
       `ABAP`
       MATCH OFFSET moff
       MATCH LENGTH mlen.
  IF sy-subrc = 0.
    WRITE / moff.
    off = moff + mlen.
  ENDIF.
ENDWHILE.

    String st = getString();
    return Integer.parseInt(st);//this is 208 row

    It may be that the code in getString() returns a
    String that ends with a newline. If that is the
    problem, you can use
    return (Integer.parseInt(st)).trim();1. getString will never return a String ending in newline. BufferedReader.readLine strips off the newline.
    2. Even if you had a newline, String.trim doesn't trim newlines.
    3. You would need to trim the String, not the int:
    return (Integer.parseInt(st.trim()));As JimDinosaur said, you are passing bad data (the value of "st").
    In getInt, add this before trying to parse "st":
    System.out.println("###"+st+"###");What does it print?

  • How can I search for a string like a partial IP address in the global search

    When searching for a string like "10.255." the global search finds messages containing "255" or "10" and both.
    This happens no matter whether quotation is used or not.
    When quotation is used it probably will match on the given order as well, but beeing in the timezone '+0100' the string "10" is always found first (in the email headers...).
    Is there a way to tell the global search not to use '.' or any other character as whitespace?

  • How to search for particular string in array?

    I am struggling to figure out how to search array contents for a string and then delete the entry from the array if it is found.
    The code for a program that allows the user to enter up to 20 inventory items (tools) is posted below; I apologize in advance for it as I am also not having much success grasping the concept of OOP and I am certain it is does not conform although it all compiles.
    Anyway, if you can provide some assistance as to how to go about searching the array I would be most grateful. Many thanks in advance..

    Ok, so you have an array of Strings. And if the string you are searching for is in the array, you need to remove it from the array.
    Is that right?
    Can you use an ArrayList<String> instead of a String[ ]?
    To find it, you would just do:
    for (String item : myArray){
       if (item.equals(searchString){
          // remove the element. Not trivial for arrays, very easy for ArrayList
    }Heck, with an arraylist you might be able to do the following:
    arrayList.remove(arrayList.indexOf(searchString));[edit]
    the above assumes you are using 1.5
    uses generics and for each loop
    [edit2]
    and kinda won't work it you have to use an array since you will need the array index to be able to remove it. See the previous post for that, then set the value in that array index to null.

  • Number of characters in a string

    Hi,
    I need to find the number of characters in a string. For instance, i have a string type variable with the value "ABAP". How can i know how many letters "A" there are in that string? Is there any FM that does this?
    Cheers,
    Roberto

    Hi,
    you can make use of string operation FIND as:
    DATA: text1 TYPE string VALUE `A`,
             text TYPE string,
          off  TYPE i,
          moff TYPE i,
          mlen TYPE i.
    off = 0.
    WHILE sy-subrc = 0.
      FIND text1 IN SECTION OFFSET off OF
           `ABAP`
           MATCH OFFSET moff
           MATCH LENGTH mlen.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        WRITE / moff.
        off = moff + mlen.
      ENDIF.
    ENDWHILE.

  • Count the number of char in a string

    hi gurs
    for example ,there is a string "abcdaa", i want a sql that shows the number of 'a' in the string ,in this case,the sql should return 3 cause there are three 'a' in the string, how to write this sql
    thank you very much.

    As an alternative or if you're using 9i or below you can use this:
    SQL> with t as (
      2  select 'abcdaa' x from dual union all
      3  select 'AbcdaA' x from dual)
      4  -- end of sample data
      5  SELECT x, length(x) - length(replace(x, 'a', '')) count_chr
      6    FROM t;
    X       COUNT_CHR
    abcdaa          3
    AbcdaA          1

  • Number of repeated characters in string array

    Hi,
    I m trying to get number of repeated characters in string array. I couldnt figure out where am i doing mistake.
    thank you,
    For example: count({"alpha, beta,"}, 'a')
    a is repeated 3
    l is repeated 1 etc.
    public class Test
    public static int count(String[] stringArray, char c)
    public String [] str = new String [2];
    int count = 0;
    str[0]
    str[1]
    for(int i = 0; i<str.length(); i++)
    if (str.charAt(i)
    count++;
    return count;

    There is a difference between a String and a String [].
    A String [] is an array of String class objects:/*  Traverse_Array_Of_Strings_1.java */
    public class Traverse_Array_Of_Strings_1
      public static void main(String [] argv)
        /* here is an array of Strings */
        String [] s = { "hello", "how", "are", "you" };
        int i, j;
        System.out.println("s.length = "+ s.length );
        for (i= 0; i < s.length; i++)
          System.out.println("s= <"+ s[i] +">");
          for (j= 0; j < s.length(); j++)
    System.out.print(s[i].charAt(j) +", ");
    System.out.println("\n-----");
    }output:java> javac Traverse_Array_Of_Strings_1.java
    java> java Traverse_Array_Of_Strings_1
    s.length = 4
    s= <hello>
    h, e, l, l, o,
    s= <how>
    h, o, w,
    s= <are>
    a, r, e,
    s= <you>
    y, o, u,

  • Logic for correcting strings with different barckets

    can any one tell me the simple logic for correcting strings with different barckets
    suppose say for eg.
    (<{abc}>defgh) should evaluate to TRUE
    (<{abc>} should evaluate to FALSE
    Things to check is
    1. number of opening brace and closing brace
    2. Their position are correct or not
    If the above two conditions are met than it is TRUE else FALSE
    i guess string function with decode and lenght function or case should do but bit difficult to develop this logic in with sql
    Thanks,

  • Search for a String in a list of files

    Could anyone please send me a java sample code which searches for a string from a list of files and returns me the filename and the line in which the Search String was found ?
    Thanks in advance
    RR

    Simple solution would be -
    1. Traverse a directory for each file.
    2. Read each file using Buffered Reader.
    3. Use readLine() method to read a line.
    4. Use String.indexOf to see if the data which you are looking for is there in the line or not.
    5. If its there then store the line number and file name.
    6. When the loop will end you will have list of file name and line number where the data which you are looking for is present.

  • Validation For Date,String and Date in a reports Region

    Apex 4
    Good day to all apex users How do I validate a apex_item.text if the value is string the user can only input a string value if it is number then the user can input numbers only and if it is a date the user can only input a date values?

    APEX_ITEMS are not part of the default apex gui... In fact they are just functions which returns html.
    You can however do some stuff with the attributes parameters. You can find some cool stuff over here: Re: Validation For Date,String and Date in a reports Region
    If you want apex validation you need to create a page validation and loop over your apex_items with apex_application.g_f0x
