Numbers was uninstalled. How do I reinstall?

It came pre-installed with my MacBook. I updated it last night before updating my OS, but when I turn on my laptop, I found that my Numbers had been uninstalled. I checked the App Store and it makes me pay $19.99 to get Numbers. How do I reinstall it?

Hi Jerome,
It came pre-installed with my MacBook
Which version of Numbers was pre-installed? Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) or Numbers 3.x?
I updated it last night before updating my OS
What version of OS X did you have before updating OS X?
Try these steps one at a time.
1. Under the Apple Menu, choose Software Update (instead of opening App Store). It may be that updating Numbers before updating your OS now requires an new update of Numbers!
2. Use Spotlight to search for Numbers. Perhaps you will find two versions of Numbers:
Numbers '09 in a folder called iWork '09 within your Applications folder; and
Numbers 3.x within your Applications folder (not a sub folder).
3. try this User Tip on working with different versions of Numbers:
Wayne Contello has written a User Tip for working with the old and new versions of iWork.
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6991
The trick is to drag icons for both versions to your Dock. Right click or control click on each and Options > Keep in Dock. That puts you in charge of which version you launch.
Here is a screen shot of both Numbers icons on my Dock.
Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) on the left with a three column graph.
Numbers 3.2 on the right with a four column graph.
Both versions will run happily together. Just be sure which version is opening your document.
Instead of double clicking the document, run whichever version of Numbers/Pages/Keynote suits and use File > Open.
Please reply if you need more help (or if I have misunderstood your question).
Regards,
Ian.

  • How do I reinstall OS X after HDD - SSD change?

I am looking at switching out my HDD for an SSD, and I was wondering, how will I reinstall OS X after having switched out the HDD for the SSD?
Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro, so there were no installation discs or anything. So how do I do it?
    Thanks!

You have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. 2010 and newer Macs are compatible with Internet Recovery, a feature included in the firmware which allows you to start in OS X Recovery even if you haven't got Recovery HD on the hard disk. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
To start Internet Recovery, hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your MacBook Pro is starting. Then, select the option to reinstall OS X and follow the steps. If you can't install OS X in the hard drive, close the installer, open Disk Utility and create a partition formatted in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Also, make sure you make a GUID partition table on your SSD. Read > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

What in particular didn't you like about Firefox 6?
You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.

Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    *Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • How do I uninstall safari 7 and reinstall safari 6 (snow leopard)?

How do I uninstall safari 7 and reinstall snow leopard? I was on pinterest and it said I needed up to update my browser, so I did and now safari won't open for me since I have 10.6.8. How can I get safari back on my computer? I didn't know that my computer isn't compatible with the new software before I downloaded it and I can't figure out how to uninstall it so I can have my previous version back. Thanks!

Classic Mac operating systems don't run Safari.  I've asked this thread be moved to the appropriate forum.

  • Front Row Uninstalled itself - How do you reinstall it?

Like some of the other posters here, I had FR working on my MBP. I probably last used it at the end of August. It is now no longer on my computer and I did not uninstall it.
I have checked that the problem is not with the remote, but no, the remote works fine, the application is no longer on the machine. I have checked the System folder mentioned in other posts.
Front Row is not available on the Apple site as a download anymore so can somebody tell me how I can reinstall it please. I found a link to FR 1.0 on the web and tried that, then a software update. The update downloaded 1.3 and I installed it but this does not work either, although I do now have FR in the system folder again. It is not started when the machine starts and I have tried repairing permissions etc.
    Your help is appreciated.

I was pretty convinced mine was gone, too. But as I learned in the other thread, Front Row is apparently like no other application. (I'm guessing because it actually controls other applications it's implemented differently.)
I think it was changed somewhere in OS 10.4 upgrades. I'd have sworn it was a plain old app once upon a time. But then, my memory's not what it used to be.
I was just glad to see it again!

  • I was having problems with a 7-month old version of office for mac 2011, so I completely removed it from my computer. How do I reinstall it?

Office for Mac 2011 worked fine until yesterday, then I started having problems. I know I completely deleted the trial version, so please do not suggest that as the cause. I also know that I bought a legitimate full version online from the Microsoft store 7 months ago, and I still have the product key. But since I don't have any trace of Office on my Mac anymore, how do I reinstall it? I tried looking on the Microsoft website, but it wasn't helpful. The only other thing I can do is contact Microsoft customer support, which will probably take forever. So, to respond to this post, please: do not mention trial versions for Office, do not mention Microsoft website. I tried posting another question on this topic, but the people who replied did not seem to understand that their suggestions were not relevant.

I see you had another post for this same issue where you clearly explained your problem.  There were important details in your other thread that would have helped us in assisting you.  You started this new thread, understandably frustrated.  None of us are mind readers.  You started right off telling us not to mention the only two things that would resolve the problem you had mentioned here which was simply that you had uninstalled office and you were trying to reinstall it.  Reading your other thread, it's clear why you made that comment.  It's generally not a good idea to open multiple threads for the same issue as anyone reading this thread would have no idea what steps you have already taken and what suggestions have already been made.

  • I uninstalled safari on my macpro? How do I reinstall it without a browser?

I Uninstalled Safari to clean malware attack. How do I reinstall Safari without a browser?

Backup, backup and just why not check how to disable whatever the issue was first to begin with rather than "throw the baby out with bathwater" approach. Often a browser extension or other means to remove whatever the problem was works. And surprised to see a system with only one web browser.

Access another system, even Windows, and download Firefox, and download the OS X combo update.
There is a forum for Safari, another one for OS X (Yosemite? Mavericks? no idea what you are using) and this even is not the home of MacBook Pro Community.

  • I accidentally uninstalled aperture from my dock and computer how do I reinstall?

I accidentally uninstalled aperture from my dock and computer how do I reinstall on my MacBook Air?  I was removing Aperture from my DOCK.  Later when I went to search for it in my applications it was no longer available.  I searched trash and applications.  How do I reinstall?

I was removing Aperture from my DOCK.  Later when I went to search for it in my applications it was no longer available.
When you remove an application from the Dock, it will just vanish from the Dock and not be deleted. Either the application was already missing, or you removed Aperture from the Launchpad. Removing from the Launchpad will uninstall an application completely.
If you hold down on an app, until the "x" appears and then tab the x, the application will be removed from the Applications folder.
    How do I reinstall?
That  will depend on your Aperture version and system version. What are they?
If you bought Aperture from the AppStore or are using Aperture 3.5.1, sign into the AppStore with your AppleID and download Aperture again from the "Purchased" tab.
If you bought an earlier version of Aperture, you need to use the installer disk image or installer DVD that you originally used. Do you still have the media and an optical drive for your MBA?
If you cannot run the installer, restore the Aperture application from your backup.

  • How do I reinstall Numbers?

I accidentally deleted Numbers 3.2 from my MacBook Pro. How do I reinstall it? The App store says it's already installed. Background: I was addressing a separate software issue involving Quicken Essentials and support had me drag my Numbers app icon to the trash to deactivate the program. I was supposed to drag it back to the apps folder but I absentmindedly emptied my trash before dragging the Numbers icon back to the apps folder. How do I download and reinstall the program if the App store says it's already installed?

Thanks Wayne, but that didn't do it. Here's what happened.
    1. I dragged the Numbers 3.2 icon to the trash
    2. I emptied the trash by mistake.
When I go to the App Store and check Purchases, it says Numbers is still installed. (see image).
Perhaps the reason it is saying this is that Numbers '09 is still installed as well. Here's what I'm seeing on the app store....

  • I was no longer able to click on my Firefox icon and open . I uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled and I still cannot get Firefox to open. It says that the download was successful. What should I do?

I attempted to open Firefox as usual and when I clicked on the icon nothing happened. I uninstalled Firefox and then reinstalled. It said that the download for Firefox was successful but it still does not open. When I click on Firefox it now just says to upgrade Firefox. What should I do to get Firefox up and running again. I have a Mac and my Safari is linking me just fine to the internet so Apple says it is not a Mac problem but a Firefox problem.

I notice you turned off the setting that diverts new windows to a new tab. Since the new window will open in front of your current tab, it may appear that the current tab was closed, when in fact it is behind the new window. This hard to explain in words.
Do you want to switch the setting?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
Check the box for "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
    Does that help?

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.
