Numeric values range

HI all,
I am facing a problem when enter more than 11 digit in the numeric field. On exit the field, the value change to some other
number.
Also noticed , this behaviour is pdf reader dependent as version 8 and version9 behave differently for the numeric fields.
Pls suggest if there is any solution for this.
regards,
JN

This may be an effect of the IEEE 754 standard used in XFA forms.
If the numbers have more than 16 digits the are rounded automatically (more details can be found in the XML Forms Architecture (XFA)
Specification and FormCalc User Reference.
Another reason may be a pattern you set for the numeric field or a script you use for calculation.

  • JMS Queue XML numeric value out of range

    Hi
    I have an interface that process the root element of the JMS message.
    It is failing on the step Load JMS to XML. The error states: numeric value out of range.
    I've analysed the message and determined the exact data item which is 11 digits long.
    The JMS model only accomodates for numeric(10,0). I tried changing it, but still get the error.
    Any idea what I need to do so that this step will process that data without error?

  • Numeric Value Out Of Range Error in Callable Statement

    I keep getting an error whenever I try and pass in a value greater than 9000 into my stored procedure. The procedure call looks like this:

    CallableStatement call = objConn.prepareCall(sSelect);
    call.setString(1, "TEST"); //DB TYPE = VARCHAR
    call.setInt(2, 4); // DB TYPE = INTEGER

    // execute stored procedure
    call.execute();
    // retrieve value

    val2= call.getDouble(7);
    I keep getting a "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Numeric value out of range." error.
    I'm using MS SQL server 2000. The error only occurs when I pass in values > 9000. Since there's no direct mapping between java data types and SQL MONEY data type, I've tried passing every possible type into the procedure with the same result (e.g. float, long, double, int, BigDecimal). If anyone has come across this problem and knows a solution please help!!
    Thanks.

    knows a solution please help!!Modify the stored proc so it takes a varchar. In the stored proc convert the string to the correct type. In java use setString() to pass in the value.

  • Numeric value out of range (null) - Inserting a double

    Allright,
    I can't figure this out to save my life.. I am refusing to put my code up because I am trying to insert into a DB Table with 140 some fields, so I will explain as best I can.. I am trying to insert a double into my DB.. I have been getting a numeric value out of range error on insertion. Just to see if it was a db problem, I shortened my query to 4 fields and two of them being the doubles for insertion. They inserted fine. So needless to say, i presumed that my insert statement for the 140 fields query was off. I double checked it and everything seems to be in order. I still get the error. I can assure that everything matches up.. my SQL string looks like this :
    SQL = "INSERT INTO TABLE 1 (VAL1, VAL2, VAL3 ... VAL146) VALUES (?, ?, ? .... ?);
    and my preparedStmt :
    ps = con.prepareStatement(SQL);
    ps.setInt(1, val1);
    ps.setInt(2, val2);
    ps.setString(3, val3);
    ps.setDouble146, val146);
    ps.executeUpdate();
    Please help me solve this..

  • Value Range for numeric field

    I'm fairly new to LiveCycle, I've used it to make forms for a bit, but am now hoping to make the forms much more advanced.  I'd like to know the best way to set a value range/parameter for a numeric field? I want the filler to be restricted to a range of $300 to $10,000 and if they try to enter below or above that value they would receive an error message.  I've looked at all the beginner material and am trying to get introduced to FormCalc and/or JavaScript but not fully comprehending the best/complete method (any guidance on where to start is also greatly appreciated).
    Thanks, Ed

    if (((300 < this.rawValue) && (this.rawValue < 10000)) || (this.rawValue == null)){
       true
    } else {
    this.rawValue = null;
    app.alert("Please enter a value between 300 and 10.000")
    I changed some things though... ^^
    If you want 300 / 10 000 to be true too then set <= instead of <.
    You can also change the app.alert message as you want.
    If you don't add the null in the beginning you might get an error message if it's on the validate event. If it's in the exit there shouldn't be a problem...
    Though this is just a little different from Paul's original solution.

    Hello,
    Try exporting in the 'fully formated grids and text'. It shouldl give you the 'member alias' used in the report.
    Looks like if you export in the 'querry ready grids and text' it will show the 'member name' as in database although the report may have used the 'member alias'.

  • Numeric value to letter grade equivalent?

    What formula would I enter if I wanted to convert a numeric value (summation or average) into a letter grade? For example, I would like to create a formula that would look at a numeric value, determine its range, and then assign a simple letter grade. Thus, if Cell C3 (with a numeric value) is between 70-79 then input "C", if Cell C3 (again with the numeric value) is between 80-89, "B." Any advice would be much appreciated.

    you should use a lookup table to achieve this.
    Create a small table (called "Grades", the table on the right) where the first row a is a header row and the grades are entered as show:
    To use this table enter some grades (like I did in the column "Average", column B), then enter the formula:
    C2=VLOOKUP(B2, Grades::A:B, 2, 1)
    this is shorthand for select cell C2, then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:
    =VLOOKUP(B2, Grades::A:B, 2, 1)
    now select cell C2 copy
    select cells C2 thru the end of the column, paste

  • Numeric values longer than 32bit?

    Greetings,
    I'm an EE student currently working as a LV instrument driver developer
    for a well-known T&M equipment manufacturer here in Munich.
    My problem is the following: Is it possible to handle numeric values
    longer than 32bit in LV? Specifically, one of my instrument driver VIs
    needs to supply an initialization value to the Wideband CDMA "long code"
    configuration menu of a versatile vector signal generator. This value
    can range from 0x0 to 0x1FF,FFFF,FFFF (which accounts for 41 bits, if
    I'm not mistaken). The instrument expects this value in hexadecimal
    form.
    A quick and dirty solution could be either to split up the control range
    in 32+9 bits, i.e. place two controls on the front panel, or to use a
    string control an
    d have the user specify the hex value as a string. Both
    solutions are not very desirable though, especially since instrument
    driver VIs are meant to be used as sub-VIs in customer-specific programs
    and for that reason aren't usually accessed from their front panels.
    So, are there any other, more elegant solutions than the ones mentioned
    above?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    FORMING THE 41-bit STORAGE
    You can create any arbitray numerical data length by using a binary
    array. This is the best and most direct solution to your needs.
    Just remember, LabView allocates binary arrays in multiples of bytes,
    so a 41-bit array will be rounded up to a length of 6 bytes or
    48-bits; however, LabView knows to return only the first 41-bits to
    you upon request.
    GENERATING AN ARRAY OF 41-bit VALUES
    The next issue is that you need an array of 41-bit numbers. You simply
    define this as a 2-dimensional array of binary values. When
    initializing this array, be certain you order the dimension indices
    such that the fastest moving index has a size value of 41. The slowest
    moving index will then be for the actual numerical size of your array.
    If you transpose the index definition, nothing will work right! Be
    careful!
    When your array (above) is defined, it should be shown in LabView as a
    brown wire, which deplicts it as a binary 2-dimensional array. If it
    is instead shown in a magenta color, then you instead defined and array
    (cluster) of 41-bit binary numbers. That will work okay too (and will
    even be easier the used), but it will take more storage and will take
    LabView longer to handle. However, if you're more confortable will the
    latter choice, I can understand that. It does have the feature of being
    able to address each 41-bits number directly. With the 2-dim approach
    I initially outlined, you'll need to slice out each 41-bit number from
    the 2-dim array each time you access (read/write) it.
    FORMATTING BINARY INTO HEX
    Formatting your storged numbers is an entirely _separate_ issue and
    your 41-bits numbers only need to worry about formatting when you
    send them to an output device. For a LabView control panel, simply
    open a binary array control, then select the appropriate options so
    they are displayed in base-2, octal, or hex. LabView supports all
    three display formats with any binary indicator.
    If you need to format your numbers to a hex string (for an output
    device), try the "To Hexadecimal" or "Format & Append" function.
    Again, if you're using the 2-dim binary array apprach, you'll need to
    slice out each 41-bit number indivdually. If you're using the cluster
    (array) if 1-dim 41-bit array approach, you can skip that step.
    Frankly, I'm not sure how well LabView's formatting functions work with
    1-dim binary arrays, but in principal they should. If they don't work
    directly, no big deal. Just cast the 41-bit arrays into U8 numbers
    (bytes) and have the formatting function format those numbers into hex
    strings; simply one more step.
    One question: Why on earth do you want to format the data going
    into your instrument in the first place? Almost all instruments will
    take binary input _directly_ without formatting it into ASCII (octal,
    hex, etc) first. This is much faster because the ASCII of all this
    hex stuff requires many more bytes to transfer to your instrument.
    Moreover, the instrument then needs to convert the ASCII (hex) back
    into binary before it can use any of it. You should investigate
    skipping the formatting step altogether. The exception might be
    if you're using an RS-232 connection to your instrument where raw
    binary isn't allowed. Newer interfaces like GPIB, 1394, etc will
    allow binary transfer directly.
    COMMENTS ON STRINGS
    Don't use strings in LabView. By default, each string get a minimal
    memory allocation of 2K. If you define a 100 element (array) string,
    that's 200K of memory just to hold those strings. Not a big deal, but
    when the memory manager starts doing garbage collection (which is
    required with string manipulations), things will really slow down.
    String are important, but data should always be stored in a binary
    form within any computer, not in ASCII formatted form (hex included).

    thanking u all.

    hi,
    A domain defines a value range. A domain is assigned to a data element. All table fields or structure components that use this data element then have the value range defined by the domain.
    <b>The value range of a domain is defined by specifying a data type and length (and number of decimal places for numeric data types).</b>
    The value range of a domain can be restricted by defining fixed values. If all the fields or components that refer to the domain should be checked against a certain table, this table can be defined as the value table of the domain.

  • Can anyone suggest a method whereby I can calculate a numerical value that gives the total or average power between two stated frequencies of the AutoPowerSpectrum?

    Using Measurement Studio (Vis. Basic), I'm trying to calculate as a numerical value the total or average power between two stated frequencies of the AutoPowerSpectrum. The PowerFrequencyEstimate Method gets me part of the way there. Using appropriate values of the input variables SearchFreq and Span, I divided the range between my two frequencies into 12 segments and let PowerFrequencyEstimate find the frequency and its power at the highest point in each segment. Then I added the 12 resulting powers. Since these are power values at several peaks, not average power over a given frequency range, it's not exactl
    y what I want. Do any other approaches occurr to anyone?
    Thanks.

    Most people here won't do your homework for you. If you make an attempt yourself and get stuck then post your code (wrapped in code tags for easy reading), include any errors you get and what line they occur on and most of all ask a specific question. Don't just say "It doesn't work".
    However, your assignment mentions that you are not allowed to use inbuilt C/C++ functions. This is a Java forum. Although the languages are similar and some here have C experience, try posting in a C forum.

  • Given a string, how do you find the numeric value in sparse ring?

    Situation: I receive the string value of the sparse ring, and a control reference to the same type of control, but not the control that sourced the string. How can I convert the string, into the actual numeric value of the ring? For example:
    Using the "VISA Select Event Type" ring (Functions -> Instrument I/O -> VISA -> Advanced -> Event -> Select Event Type.ctl), lets say I get the string "ServiceRequest" how do I convert that into 1073684491, the actual value of the ring?
    This is a rework of an existing function that worked fine with "normal" rings.
    Thanks.

    Unfortunately this method will not work, its a generic routine that must be able to take any ring, so I can't hardwire the cases to known outputs. And, of course, searching the array of Strings[] will just find me a useless index.
    My interm solution is this:
    1) pick a small, but likely range of possible values for the ring
    2) iterate through these values, assigning each one in turn to ring
    3) read the RingText property to see if it matches the passed string
    4) if it does, then exit. If it doesn't keep looping.
    5) if no value produces a matching string, declare defeat (raise an error or produce other output that indicates a match could not be found).
    The routine only runs in the UI so I am not too concerned about the time delay this method will i
    mpose, but I would greatly appreciate a smoother solution.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
