NW04s SR2 Install error on Linux Fedora 7

Hi
I've solved the problem ! It was not related to the port number but some sort of shared memory segment size that was not big enough. Thank you for your help.
Btw, I'm getting into another problem: the installer got stucked at stage 30
"Install Software Unit" and seems not being able to start 'process server0'.
I must admit I really don't know where to look for. Here is the Log Browser trace :

  • Install 9iDB on Linux Fedora Core 3

I expected a problem when I try to install 9iDB on Linux Fedora Core 3, the installation takes a long time and nothing is working, it stays at 0%.
    Have you any idea?
    Thanks

    Rajeev,
this is not a good link because FC1 has 2.4 kernel. and old GLIBC.
But there is serious problem to install 9i on OS with 2.6 kernel and GLIBC 2.3.
My advice is install older OS version such as RH 7.2 - 9 or Suse 8,9, FC1
Or simply dongrade the kernel to 2.4 version and also downgrade the GLIBC

I am installing Solution Manager 4.0 SR2 on Redhat Linux and Oracle for the x86_54 hardware.  The install failed on 18.  The error is on the execution of the R3load -testconnect.  The return code is 127 - libsapu16.so no such file or directory.  I can't find the file in any of the directories.  This appears to be a unicode file.  Has anyone encountered this problem before?  Where should the file be?
    Thanks,

Peter, since when is there an InDesign version for Linux?
That's where I was headed. There is no linux version of ID, but there are, apparently, windows-like front ends that can be used in Linux that are not actually a Windows virutual machine. I don't know how far the installer might get in such a situation before quitting becasue of the unsupported OS.
I don't expect a call to customer service would get a lot of help in this situation, either, but I suppose it's worth a shot. My suspicion would be that they would say something like although it should work, we don't officially support installations on virtual machines as the configurations can vary from the real thing.

Sorry to revive this thread, but i had this problem a few moments ago and found the solution...
the problem is the DNS/rDNS for the client is missing in the server.
AFAIK, when the webutil is called, somehow the server is trying to to resolve the client IP or hostname and fails to do it, throwing the connection down.
After i confirmed that the client could resolve its own IP (via /etc/hosts), i created the DNS and rDNS for the client. After that the client could connect without any problem.
hope this helps someone in the future.

  • Installing Linux Fedora

Hello, I had Installed win 2003 and 98, and I also had Linux fedora on another partition, when I format my windows systems and install only win 2003 and when I try to repair the boot options the linux instalation gives me the followinf error:
unable to align partition properly. this probably means that another partitioning tool generated an incorrect partition table, because it didn't have the correct bios geometry. it is safe to ignore but ignoring may cause (fixable) problems with some boot loaders. I ignored it, and the installation finished.
I deleted my linux instalation, so when I try to install again it gives me the same. can anybody help me!!!!!!
    thanks

There is bug in parted and there are many solutions or workaround for that.
    The simplest ever is:
Go to BIOS and change the "access mode" from "AUTO" to "LBA".
If this will notwork then check for further solutions here:

I'm trying to install jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin on a Linux(centos 5.1) system. I get the results at the end of this post after accepting the license agreement. I haven't found anything on the web or the bug database that has been helpful. I'm really at my wits end and could use a helping hand.

    Hey Eran,
I guess, you can find the solution to your problem here:
It works well on Ubuntu, but since the error on Ubuntu looks exactly the same as on Centos, I think it should work for you as well.
    Cheers,
    Georg

    Hi,
I think that Feedbak forum is not the best place for this problem.
    You should ask this into
=> Installation Forum : Database Installation
    or
=> Linux Forum : Generic Linux
Anyway, you can find an install doc here :
    http://ivan.kartik.sk/oracle/install_ora9_fedora.html

10gR2 is de-supported - plus CentOS is not a certified distro, so things may or may not work - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15668/toc.htm#BABIAECC
