OAM- Power User

I am trying to implement power user use case in OAM.
1> Landing login page accepts the used id and verifies that user exists in oam under group Admin. I am using credential mapping plug-in with a filter for the group Admin. Security level for landing page authentication scheme is 1
2> On authentication success, I am setting the headervar powerid=samaccountname and redirecting the user to form login. Security level for landing page authentication scheme is 2.
3> On authentication failure, I am setting the headervar powerid=samaccountname and redirecting the user to secure id login. Security level for landing page authentication scheme is 2
I need to automatically pre fill the user id on form login and secure id login pages by reading the header variable that was set on authentication success/failure in step 2 and 3.
Redirection is working fine after authentication failure and success. But I don't see the headervar in my login pages. I am seeing the headervar being set in access debug log. My login pages are developed in perl. I tried to print all header variables on my login page but I still don't see them.
I was told that when we redirect from authentication success/failure, headervar gets dropped by webgate. So I don't see them. Same thing happens even if I try to use the authorization success/failure. I wanted to know how do I implement this use case? All I want to do is pre fill the user id on the login page by reading it from headervar.
Prasad

The product will not perform both redirect and setHeader in the same action set (within the same rule) (it is considered a security risk).
The usual approach, then, is to perform the redirect in one action and set the header in another rule (perhaps on the receiving authorization rule of the redirect target).
I might approach this by setting your headers on the authorization action for the landing page (which must be a protected resource) following the first credential mapping operation. That landing page probably has no visible UI but I would set a cookie there with samaccountname. That cookie will easily persist until you make your request that invokes the next form authentication scheme. That login form can populate the powerid based on the cookie.
If you have needs around the retaining the originally requested resource, try using passthrough:yes and grabbing it from a header and also converting it to a cookie for short term retention.
I hope that helps.
Cheers,
Mark

  • Can Power Users or Mgt Create and Design Reports Through Query Designer ?

    Dear BI consultants,
    Iam new to BI.
My management has requested me to Train Power users from All Modules(FICO,HR,QM,PP,SD,MM) to Create Queries and Design Through Query Designer.
My question is are we suppose to Give query Designer Access to Power users or Mgt so that they can create Queries and reports by themselves. Please Suggest me wht is the Best Practices.
is it feasable to train power users and Mgt as to how 2 create queries. will there be any side effect on the System or our end.
    Plz suggest.
wht are the advantages and disadvantages of this.
If I train the Power users then is there any risk of my Job.
since they will be creating all reports by themselves.
wht else can a BI consultant do since iam in a support project.
how do i convince my Mgt?
    Plz Suggest.
    Thanks Awaiting

This is common procedure maintained in most of the company's for end users.
There is no issue if you train the power users.you will be the first point of contact if they have any doubts.and more over you are supporting for your client right? this can't be handed over to power user or end user. data is imp for the client so there will not be any problem for you, if any issue comes while loading you need to take care of the errors and fix the.
power users or end user will be familiar with Business requirement not with the Query building logic's not with the BW procedure so no worries for you.
as vineeth said its better to keep control regarding the global and key things at your end so that you will not loose contol on the reports.

  • Non power user cannot execute batch load

Hello all. I have a batch sccript being executed in the AftLoad event script. For a non power user, if they load there file, they receive an error after the load indicating Object Variable or With Block Variable not set. It points to the line in the batch script that is executing the serial batch. I can see that the batch executes, as in the OpenBatch folder the file is removed. However, the error appears and the load never finishes. If I make this user a power user, they are able to process the load without any issue. Any ideas?

The user needs to be granted access to all locations for the batch to work. Batch was originally designed as an admin only utility.

  • Recommended books for Oracle SQL power user

I am an OCA 11g preparing for 1Z0-047 [Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert]. Passing 1Z0-047 is not my sole purpose. I wish to become SQL power user.
What books do you recommend me except that from Steve O'Hearn? I saw there are quite a lot of advanced SQL books on Amazon. Which one a must have without PL/SQL or other programming language?

  • Defining BI Power User Role and Authorizations

We are looking for information/best practices/guidelines pertaining to defining BI Power Users and the appropriate authorizations to attach to this role.  Our Power Users are asking for approval to access several transactions within BI, specifically within RSA1. I am curious to know how you define your power user role(s) and to what extent they have access to BW itself (i.e. BEx, Web Designer, direct access to BW transactions such as listcube, RSA1, RRI, ability to update custom tables, ability to access the data model structure, etc )? Do your power users have access to develop production queries in DEV and test in your QA environment or are they restricted to ad hoc queries in Production? Have you seen any best practices or guidelines from SAP surrounding appropriate authorizations for Power Users? Any information you would be willing to share with us would be most appreciated.

    Hatem,
You have an option to use the old method however it's recommend to use analysis authorizations going forward.
Take a look at the sap wiki for analysis auth for more info or search the site for other good info.

  • Launching Labview as Power User starts installer

I installed Labview 6.1 as admin on a Windows XP SP1 machine. I gave 'everyone' full control to C:\Program Files\National Instruments.
Labview launches fine when I log in as an admin.
When Labview is started when logged in with a Power User account, it launches Windows Installer and starts to give error messages it can not find the required package.
When I make sure the LV CD is in the PC at that time, Labview does not give these errors, but starts to install something (doesn't say what). However, each time LV is launched: same installer messages.
How do I get rid of these messages? It speaks for itself I can not leave the CD in the CD drive.
    Thanks,
    David.

    Hello,
I have the same problem with LabView 7.1 under Windows 2000!!!! I installed LabView 7.1 with admin-rights and every time a power user starts LabView, it trys to install something and says "Please reboot ....." After the reboot nothing has changed. The power user has to click "no" about 10 times to prevent LabView from rebooting. After that it runs fine.
Another problem occurs when the power user trys to restart or shut down the system. This takes about 3 minutes! I figured out that there is a LabView-task appearing and disappearing every 10 sec. in the task-manager during this ~3 minute period preventing the computer from shutting down (sounds strange?! - yes it is). I tried the previous hints about reconfiguring the windows-installer settings but nothing has changed!
    Anyone has an idea???
    Thanks
    Holger

    Hi,
Can you post a screenshot for this situation?
Sometimes, the third party credential provider would lead to some issue like this, I suggest you check the
current credential provider via the following path:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\SessionData\x\LastLoggedOnProvider
You should compare the result with the values in the following path:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\credential providers
If the current value is third party credential provider, try to disable it:
To disable the provider add a REG_DWORD value "Disabled"=1 to that provider’s CLSID subkey.
The provider will be disabled on the next session creation (sessions are created when you log off, switch users, or reboot.

  • New to Mac OSX and I want to be a power user

I hope this doesn't sound wrong but I'm a lifetime Windows user and I got my y. Mac Book about a month ago and I'm still learning but I feel like I'm doing the long way for certain actions and I'm sure there are shortcuts. I used to know Windows backwards and forwards and I feel like I'm doing everything the slow idiot way. Like for example switching windows in Chrome I hit F3 and select the Window. There's gotta be a faster way. and is there a redo and undo for numbers? a shortcut. I want to be a power user for mac and I can't find anything. I mean do I have to buy a book and learn that way?

I suspect you are going to get in trouble using Windows Network share to backup your Mac data.
The two main options for backing up your data on the Mac is to use Time Machine and a clone backup. Just like a seat belt and an air bag protect you in different ways when driving, you need both Time Machine and a clone for full protection.
Format the external drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - Partition Map Scheme: GUID
If a drive is not GUID, it's not bootable.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.
    SuperDuper! http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    CCC http://www.bombich.com/download.html
DropBox is a good option to share files on both Macs and PCs.
To get you started, be careful about how a drive is formatted.
Format that drive with Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Partition Table of GUID or format it exFAT.
exFAT if you plan on using that external on both Mac and Windows computers. Mac Extended (Journaled) if it will only be used on Mac computers.
If you format it exFAT do that on a Windows computer as Mac screws up the formatting and it then can't be read on Windows computers. Doing it on a Windows computer it can be read and written to on both Win and Mac.
A FAT32 formatted drive you can't store any file that is larger then 4GB (actually you can't store/save any file that is 4GBs. It has to be Slightly smaller then 4GB).

  • Power users

    Hi,
It took me less than two months to become a Power User. And if I wasn't so addicted to Counter Strike, it could have happened in a week!
Power user, my arse! People may get the impression I'm knowledgable or something... It's time to raise the threshold, methinks. It should take at least a year I reckon, > 1000 posts.
