OAS 4.0.8.2.1 and Reports Cartridge
We configured OAS, Reports Cartridge and the Report Server 6i all in the same machine, but the cartridge can not communicate with the repserver. Is this possible? If somebody knows how to do it please give us a clue. Thanks.

OAS 10 to Fusion 11 - Forms and Reports Integration
We have an existing forms and reports application developed in version 10. The database is now 11 and we are getting ready to install Fusion with the portal, forms, reports and discoverer version (11.1.1.4). Although we feel that our future install should go OK, we'd appreciate any suggestions, tips, tricks, etc. The clients are Win XP and the database is on a UNIX server.
More important than the install would be comments on the coversion of version 10 forms and reports into Fusion. I expect that the conversion process is not 100% meaning that one cannot install Fusion and have existing version 10 forms and reports properly run without modifications. What is involved in the conversion of forms and reports? What changes did you have to make to have your old version 10 forms application run in Fusion?
I am new to developing in Oracle but am quite familiar with the MVC design pattern so the new development environment should be fine for new work, but the issue here is the older version 10 forms that clearly do not subscribe to the MVC design pattern.
I am looking for your experiences and insight from those who have performed this conversion.
SteveWell, I believe you can upgrade to 11g and then compile all the forms using frmcmp..

Forms and Reports 10g run on the other client machine
Dear Sir,
Please tell me how to run forms/reports which is compiled/build in ORACLE 10g.
I mean that I have build some forms and reports in Oracle 10g now I want to run them on another client machine without creating oracle application server. Is there any way to run
As example in oracle 6.0 i we only install forms and reports services at client machine and ours froms/ reports are running. Can we do so in 10g also ??

Ghulam Yassenwithout creating oracle application server. That is not possible. Forms 10 only runs in web mode, so you need the OAS with the Forms and Reports sever (OAS Enterprise Edition) or the Forms and Reports 10g stand alone server.

Now I have upgraded OAS to 10g release 2 .
1.what are the steps are needed to deploy the forms and reports in that newly installed OAS ?
2.Do I need to recompile all fmbs / mmbs / plls etc.,
4.Do I need to set any files like conf file ,env file ?

How to change the Forms and Reports's NLS_LANG character set on OAS
Hi,
I'm having problems with the OAS10g's actual character set, when displaying a report made with Reports Builder 10g who has the letter "ñ" it displays "ñ " with a blank space at the final so i need to change this character set for one that suits this requirement.
which file or files should i change ??
could this change affect something else, for example another product in my OAS ??

OAS 10G Forms and Reports Forms - Removing old sessions
I am currently running Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports Services Install.The problem that I am experiencing is that some users don't log out of our application and after 8 hours of inactivity our DB logs the users out of Oracle. This leaves forms sessions attached to the application server. Is there a way that I can remove these connections without having to manually log into Enterprise manager and disconnect them? I was hoping to be able to run a script at night and disconnect all sessions that have been connected for x number of hours or better yet find an option that I can configure in my forms setup to limit connect_time to a certain length of time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Have you modfied the timeout parameter ? This will help to exit the application when there is no activity

Application Server : Forms and Reports Services

Currently I have a three tier architecture in production for a client, running an forms and reports applications called HREF
1. client browser with Jinitiatior,webutil running 10g forms and reports app,
2. a 10g OAS with forms and report services and infrastructure components installed
3. a 10g Enterprise Edition Database Server running a 16gb db.
There is a new dev environment to be made on a much smaller scale with the same HREF application but it will only be about 2GB of data at the back end.It has to be much more cost effective, so I am looking at both reducing license costs and scale throughout.
So could I use........
1. The same client browser with Jinitiatior,webuti running 10g forms and reports app, -- running fmx and rdf can that be free?
2. Do I need a separate appliaction server install ? -- is OAS necessary , what is the most cost effective option (just install forms and reports services?)
3. Can I use Oracle Express Edition 10g -- free to use

Planning ,Business rules and Reporting Analysis Backup

Currently we have migrated our Hyperion Planning EPMA 11.1.1.2 applications from TEST to PROD on windows 2003 Server (2 boxes).Essbase Server on UNIX and Application Server is OAS.We need to take backups on daily basis for Hyperion planning, BR's ,Reporting Analysis , Financial Reporting and Essbase , Open LDAP.
But now We are taking only backups for Essbase and Open LDAP by using maxl script and Backup.bat file (Scheduled in Windows Scheduler)
As per the documentation we are going to take the backups for the Hyperion planning, BR's ,Reporting Analysis , Financial Reporting also.
Our concerns are
1)Is there any BAT files for planning , BR'S and Reporting like open LDAP Backup.BAT
2) If doesn't have how can we move ?(not manually, Using Windows Scheduler)
3) Is there any necessity to create new Batch scripts for this action?
Could you please any one help me out.

There are no other batch scripts I am aware of, you will have to create any new ones.
In regards to backing up with business rules and planning, that would be mainly be backing up the repository.
You can also use LCM to export your objects and this can be called from command line.

You can see at the subject that I want to combine Forms 6i and Reports 10g.
Why? 6i does not support html interpretation and unicode.
So what do you think about the kombination with old (Forms) 6i and new 10g (Reports)?

ps: sorry for my bad englishReports in WebForms needs OAS (Oracle Application Server) to be published, they are viewed over the net in a browser.
It's a very bad idea to combine them and most of the things will not work, even if make them work it will cost you lot more than just simply, migrate your application to Froms 10g.
It would be easier for you to migrate your whole application to Forms 10g

Deploying existing application (forms and reports) over the web
Hi I do have the following environment:
1) Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 on HP-UX.
2) Application written using oracle forms6i and reports6i on NT (Client-Server environment)
I am looking to deploy this existing application over the web using 9iAS, sure I don't want to rewrite my application. I did that in the past using OAS 4.0.8 and forms server and reports server.
1)Does 9iAS support that, which one should I install the standard or the enterprise.
2)Do I still need forms server and reports server.
I stopped using the OAS because it had problems and the performance was not that good, I found CITRIX and Tarantella do better, performance wise.
3)Does 9iAS has improved that.
Any feedback regading these many questions is highly appreciated

KhaledSounds like the ideal 9i As environment (although you might want to consider either upgrading or patching the database - 8.1.6.0.0 does have patches)
You'd be pleasantly surprised with the performance and stability improvements of 9iAS over OAS.
Deploying reports & forms over the web (pure web access, not terminal services like citrix) require some form of web server, reports server and forms server. I believe that 9i AS is totally compatible with the reports and forms developed in 6i tools, so there should be no rewrite at all.
If you have the time, strongly recommend you check it out. -

Copy data models and reports from BW 3.1 to NW 2004s

Our client has two BW servers: BW 3.1 and BI 7. BW 3.1 contains lots of data models and reports. And the BI 7 server is newly installed.
Now we want to copy these data models and reports from BW 3.1 to the new BI 7 server. Are there any solutions for this?

Sounds like a cross version transport is needed.
This is a solution we have used to do what you want to do:-
Create and release a transport as per normal.
Copy and transport the files from the source system (BW 3.1) e.g /usr/sap/trans/data & /usr/sap/trans/cofiles to the same folders on the target system.
Basis help is needed here.
From here onwards using stms_import should help you in the normal manner.
Works a treat.
Have transported the following all correctly appearing as 3.x data models in NW2004s.
DSO objects.
Cubes
Transfer/Update rules
Reports.
