OAS as service on win2000

Hi everybody
do anybody run oas4.0.8.2 trial version as service? Is it feature or bag for OAS server?

how 2 execute this command for deploying icon(gif)?

the commad to execute in this directory is
<oracle_home>jdk/bin jar -cvf myappIcon.jar *.gif
HOW TO EXECUTE THIS COMMAND FROM D:\myapp\icon directory?
i try this
D:\myapp\icon cd d:\oracle_home\jdk\bin jar -cvf myappicon.jar *.gif
it gives error
file name ,directory name, volume lable syntax incorrect
Please give me commad example for this

In responce to ur reply what i have done is ..
1- I have add the directory "D:\frs\jdk\bin;" to the PATH variable.. (!it works Dear 422828 thanks 4 this)
2-i have created the .jar file using following command
D:\myapp\icon> jar -cvf myappicon.jar *.gif
This myappicon.jar file was created in D:\myapp\icon directory
then i 'CUT' this myappicon.jar file from here and copy to the
D:\frs\forms90\java directory
3-then i stop all component in oas10g(form and services) AS control page
4- then i open formsweb.cfg and edit this as following..
[myApp]
â¦
archive_jini=f90all_jini.jar,myAppIcons.jar
imagebase=codebase
and save it.
5-then i start all component in oas10g(form and services) AS control page
6-then i edit my form's button's icon name property
some button to "save" and some button to "save.gif"
7- then i start the form by giving the following URL in the Browser
http;\\mymachine.com:7778/forms90/f90servlet?config=myapp
then the browser show this message
"java.lang.classNotFoundExcption:oracle.forms.engine.Main"
Note! i have tried "Entering The Fast Lane" in ur white paper
Now what i should do or what are the error or what i missed please mention or guide me
Now should i try the "BEST PRACTICES" on ur white paper?

Problems starting reports service on win2000

Hi,
I am getting an error whenever I try to start the reports service on win2000. I have tried changing my tnsnames (all of them) to add:
Rep60_SCHALLIG.WORLD =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
(HOST = schallig)
(PORT=1949)
#following line already existed
REP60_SCHALLIG.WORLD = Rep60_SCHALLIG.WORLD
But it still seams to give me the same error. I have also tried changing the portnumber.
Originally, I installed 9iasEE and forms server worked. Then I installed forms developer (in a different home) and reports server does not work!
To make things even more interesting, 9iAS http server and forms server run fine....

Windows could not start Oracle Report Sever on "Local Machine".... return service-specific error code 186.
This is 100% about tnsnames.ora. May be you have more then one tnsnames.ora on your machine. For example one for Developer2000 and one for Oracle816.
1) You have to set TNS_ADMIN in registry
2) If previous doesn't work then check tnsnames.ora file for the Reports server description. May be servername is worng. It hase to be the same as your NT Service name for reports server. For example if in NT services you see
Oracle Reports Server [WebRep] then in tnsnames.ora you have to see
WebRep,WebRep.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=your_host_name)(PORT=1949))
Check also if in sqlnet.ora you use DEFAULT_DOMAIN=WORLD

OAS Reports Services in 11g ?

We're using Oracle Reports. Trying to assess if OAS Reports Services is an viable option for output/distribution to printers/email/fax. Currently using 10g R2 and will be for a while. However, need to confirm that Reports Services is a go forward component of 11g. Is it? If so can you point me to the documentation.

Oh I get it. I agree it is not very explicit but the reference of Reports in above mentioned SOD is not just for Reports editor/designer tool but for the full Reports product which includes Reports Service as well.
Also note that next release (11g) of Oracle Fusion Middleware that will includes Reports and Reports Service 11g has not yet been released. It is expected to be GA sometime within current calendar year. So what you will find right now is just those SOD type docs. Once FMW 11g that has Forms/Report and other components like OHS, Web Cache, Portal etc. goes out, the 11g version of the doc you mentioned will also become available.

OAS - Forms Service

Hi
I have my App running under OC4J locally, now I wish to move it to OAS.
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2), but the Forms Service appears to be missing from the install
Can you tell me whether this is included in 10.1.2.0.2, and I have just missed it, or is there a seperate download for running Web Forms on OAS.

Well OAS - Oracle Application Server is a different download from the developer suite although you only need the developer suite for running and testing.

Can't start 9iAS-Management server service in Win2000 pro

After install 9ias, I can't start Management server service. I got error emssage 'Could not start the OracleOra9ias_HomeManagement server service on local computer. Error 1053: The server did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion' Please assist me how can I do. Thanks in advance.

I can do now by reinstall 9iAS with select management server.

Unable to start Web Cache service on Win2000

Hi,
I am unable to start the Web Cache service.
On startup the service errors out with the error as follows
"The OracleiSuites_homeWebCache service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
I tried reinstalling 9iAS but still get the same error.
Please let me know how to resolve this.

Could be a file descriptor limit problem. But this is the least of your problems. The biggest issue is that the version of Web Cache you are using is over 3 years old. You should upgrade to the latest 9.0.x version or simply download the standalone install from OTN. The URL is http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/devuse.html
This version is backward compatible with prior versions of iAS.

How to install j2sdk1.4.0_02 as a SYSTEM SERVICE on Win2000

My Sun platform j2sdk1.4.0_02 won't launch unless I log in. How to make it work as soon as Win2000 has finished boot-up (without anyone having to log in)?

Windows DBConsole Service doesn't start after Install OAS F&R-Services
Hello,
we have installed:
WINDOWS Server 2003 with SP 2
Oracle 10.2.0.1
OAS F&R Services 10.1.2.0.2
after Install DBR2 EM / DBConsole did work
after Install OAS F&R-Service
the windows-service for DBConsole
doesn't start, return with an Error Code 2
see below
the file named emdbconsole.nohup from output log
is not to find
the ias_console does work fine
OAS F_R-Services do work too
whats may be wrong ?

1. Stop the DBConsole. (set ORACLE_SID first & ORACLE_HOME)
cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bin
emctl stop dbconsole
2. Update the <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emd.properties file.
Change line from:
tracelevel.main=WARN
To
tracelevel.main=DEBUG
Decomment this line, so that the line becomes :
EMAGENT_PERL_TRACE_LEVEL=DEBUG
3. Update the <ORACLE__HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emomslogging.properties
Change line from:
log4j.rootCategory=WARN, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
To
log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
4. Remove/backup all log files from ORACLE_HOME/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log
5. Start the dbconsole and upload the output of each command
- start the dbconsole: "emctl start dbconsole"
- issue "emctl clearstate"
- status the dbconsole: "emctl status dbconsole"
- check the status of the agent until it comes up: "emctl status agent"
- force an upload: emctl upload
6. Check If you are able to view the dbconsole Page & login
check below logs may be you can see the close error messages to solve the issue.
<ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log directory
<ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties
Otherwise re-create the DBconsole using the metalink doc 278100.1 : How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database. (Please check the steps from Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, if you want to re-create)

I am trying use OAS Form Server Service,

25 PC 95/98 users Using forms and report 6i, connecting via Net8
This solution is working...!
We have a new NT Server to OAS Form Server Services.
What I want?
I need connect some people via web to use my application, but
I am not sure how make it..!
I am not need Portal or another services from OAS, I only
need Forms & Reports Server Services (I think..!).
Questions:
1) Is necessary install a Oracle Database On the
OAS Server that will be runing Forms &
Report Server (NT Server)?
2) What services must be installed on the NT server to
run Forms & Report Server?
3) When a End User use IE 5.0 to access my application from the
Web
He access to a Form Server, and this service start the
.fmx form, and this form use the Net8 to connect to DB, is
true?
4) If my form developed in form 6i run ok using Oracle 7.3.
I can use OAS Form Service to connect to the same database?
5) Is mandatory make a migration to 8.x on the
Sun Server (my app database server)?.

OC4J Standalone is for use by development and small-medium scale production deployments. Specifically, OC4J Standalone supports HTTP and HTTPS natively without the use of Oracle HTTP Server. It does not have support for load balancing, clustering, or management through Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g. To use those features, customers must install one of the Oracle Application Server installation types, such as J2EE + WebCache. The standalone version is supported in a single instance, single JVM, and single machine configuration.

Can't start reports server on win2000

I'm having a trouble with starting reports server service on win2000 advanced server. I'm getting this message from Event viewer:
The Oracle Reports Server [Rep60_HAL-OraHome6i] service terminated with service-specific error 186.
And I can't find any information about configuring server and errors. Can anyone help me

check ur sqlnet.ora file also. If there is any error in that file u will get a same error.

OAS 10.1 3.1 0 OC4J JDBC Connection/Timeout settings

I am fairly new to OAS, and am trying to resolve a intermitent issue,
I have an OAS 10.1.3.1.0 with a deployed EAR file I was provided by a supplier containing mainly PL/SQL based logic, which configured the OAS to ask a middle tier for a an external to pass data to it via Stored Procedure and then usiing the deployed package connect to an external Oracle DB and insert the data.
Oas is running on a Windows 2003 platform that has no problems or connectivity problems, how ever intermittenlt the OAS stops uploading data to the external Oracle DB. Some custom external logging details this as a communication at the time it occurs, how ever there are no comms issues. A quick restart of the OAS windows service resolves the issue.
Apart from upgrading OAS to patch set 5, the only other thing I considered could be causing the issue is how OAS is handling the session timeout or connection pool.
I can see the following settings for the JDBC connection I am using, I wondered if anyone could advise anything that could be changed? I am not sure the implications on setting the validate connection to True and also not sure why maximum number of connections is set to -1?

Graphics Server - CGI or OAS?

Is it possible to avoid using OAS when running Graphics Server?
Both Forms-server and Reports-server may be run using separate
services and enabled via CGI, but I haven't found any
information about running Graphics Server "outside" the OAS
(separate service instead of a cartridge within the OAS).

For Reports 6i, the CGI is probably the most reliable across web listeners and it performs quite well. The servlet is available as an alternative, but performs no better (and potentially worse) than the CGI.
For the next major release (Reports 9i), the architecture has been revised and the servlet performs much better than the CGI.

How to start olpa service of 9i on windows 2000 platform

I can't start olap instance manager in dba studio .it is said in the error message I have not started the olap service.But I can't start them in control panel-->service.It is said in the 9i doc that two programs must be executed manually under linux to start olap service,but I can't find them in windows2000.How can I start olap services under win2000?
