OAS - Tomcat

I'm developping a jsp application with JDev3.1.
I use Tomcat 3.1 for deployment and Oraclei 8.1.5. (with Microsoft NT 4.0)
I experience some errors when I want to delete or edit records. For some
reasons (integrity constraints in the DB, ...) I could'nt update these rows.
So I get an error.
But the lock don't get off on these rows.
I thought I didn't have to take care of these locking problems but ...
Is it a problem coming from my deployement on Tomcat?
Do I have to deploy to OAS?
Thanks.
Jean-Marc.

Besides the obvious things like memory and CPU (load), just make sure that you don't get any port conflicts and you will be ok. (at least, you will be on unix. I don't know much about Windows, so can't help you with that one).

    any direction given will be appreciated. i have a flex 3 app up and running on my localhost. i'm using a local install of tomcat(6.0.18) and i'm also using blazeds(3.2.0.3978). this combined java/flex app is using remote objects connecting to a back end oracle db on a diff host. as i mentioned... this app runs fine on my local tomcat server. i'm looking for docs or direction to port this over to an oracle app server(10.1.3.4). i have exported my project as a war file... deployed it error free on my OAS 10.1..3.4 server. the app loads but fails to do any remoting with [RPC Fault faultString="Send failed" faultCode="Client.Error.MessageSend" faultDetail="Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Status 404: url: 'http:/*****/messagebroker/amf'"]. i'm not sure if there are config changes i need to make before export or after deployment on oracle app server.

    All jars are inside war so no need to conf, look inside oracle all server logs for error

    let me take a step back... i have not done any initial config of this oracle app server for this particular application. do i need to get blazeds.jar and ojdbc14.jar over there first? then deploy?

  • OAS and Apache Tomcat on same machine

    Hi guys,
    I have a server for "Business objects XI/MS SQL server" which uses Apache TomCat 5.
    I want to install RDBMS 10g and Oracle Application server on this machine. Is there any conflict possible?
    What measures I may take to keep both applications running on same machine.?
    thnks in advance

  • [ OAS 10.1.2.0.2 ] Convert J2EE 1.4 webapp to J2EE 1.3

    Hi,
    I have a project nicely running under tomcat 5.x and OC4J standalone 10.1.3 ...
    Both rely on J2EE 1.4 accroding to what i understood ...
    But production environnement is OAS 10.1.2.0.2 ... relying on J2EE 1.3 :(
    Deploying the war don't work of course.
    So i've made lots of search to find a way ... i have made a few steps forward but i think i need help now :s ...
    Correct me if i'm wrong, to deploy J2EE 1.3 web app :
    - java classes can be compiled with jdk 1.4.2_x but not 5.0,
    - servlet api 2.3 and jsp 1.2 are needed,
    - jstl can't be higher than 1.0.x.
    So i refactored my code to make it compile with jdk 1.4.2_13.
    Regarding servlet api and jsp, i suppose webapp is using the jars provided with OC4J.
    Do i need to do anything else ?
    I also made little customization of my web.xml :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    Hi,
    Some good news, JAAS was easily configured using web console.
    I can navigate through my first forms.
    I still got some errors, i think it is related to the way jsp and taglibs are mixed.
    It may be different from jsp 2.0 ... i've read some docs about EL expressions ...
    I'll deepen this :)

  • Deploying web application on OAS

    Hi,
    I have created a web application in eclipse.
    It is up and running in tomcat and OAS server on my local system. The host address is given as : localhost
    We also have a development server which is also runs on OAS.
    I have the dev server address/username/password
    I would like to know how to put the web application in the dev server, so that anybody can access it.

    User,
    Nope, not yet.
    Have a look at the release notes for the details.

  • How to handle oas parameter in the URL

    Hi,
    I am very curious about the oas parameter in the next URL how to form the value:
    OA_HTML/OA.jsp?_rc=<..._LAYOUT>&_ri=275&addBreadCrumb=RS&<...Id>=<param_value>&_ti=2094430068&oapc=3&oas=l305LKdSwzg9iJqy8q00ew..
    If I use String createURL() or setForwardURL() then I can make some value for oas parameter. My issue is that the by these methods made values are not correct I would like to manage this value by myself. How can I manage this value, put, set, get anywhere?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cafer

    Hey,
    Thank you all for your replies. Actually i forgot to say something to you professionals,
    In my Pc, already, i have Oracle Web server which listens to 80, thats why for tomcat itlself i set 8084
    as port number at the time of installation, since giving 80 failed to run. Without keeping this in mind, i blindly
    changed the port 8084 into 80 in server.xml file, stopped and while starting i get " *The port 80 is already in use*"
    Is there any way to skip this 8084?
    i use tomcat 6, Waiting for your suggession!
    Thanks ,
    SRI.

  • Photoalbum on Tomcat 5.0

    In our case we are not using Jedeveloper or OAS. All work is done on notepad/command line. Doing Photoalbum JSP application my understanding was once I copy all JSP and change CLASSPATH of Tomcat 5.0 to include oracle provided zip in sqlj and ord/lib folder the application should work. I get errors seems Tomcat can not compile
    orcale custom classes. Anyone with this problem?

    The follwoing is the error:
    I copied all jsp files in jsp-examples directory of tomcat and copied orcale supplied jar files listed in earlier email in common/lib and copied PhotoAlbumBean.class in WEB-INF/classes directory. This is all is needed to do deploy application in Tomcat. I am using jsp-sample folder as I am really developing/learning capabilities of Intermedia at this time and will create seperate application later.
    Let me know any thing I am doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Oracle ADF and OAS licencing

    Hi all,
    I have been doing a research on JSF component, ADF and ADF Faces for our project. I have found some intresting things that
    ADF faces(donated to Apache by Oracle) is free but it is only for front end (not complete) as of ADF.
    ADF is more promising and good frame work. ADF is free to be deployed on OAS. but i am unable to find pricing for Oracle Application Server is it free ?.. and what is the price for Deploying ADF on Tomcat or other Open source Servers...?.Can i get this information I need it urgently. Thanks..

    Hi,
    the Oracle AS licence depends on the edition you want to use. I suggest to get in touch with a local sales office to get the pricing information.

  • Tomcat servlet/JSP container default files on 10gAS(10.1.2.0.2)

    Hi Friends,
    I am using Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on windows
    I have the Vulnerability: Apache Tomcat servlet/JSP container default files.
    and the fix is Review the files and delete those that are not needed.
    i would like to know the location of the files to review and delete.Please suggest?
    Regards,
    DB

    Apache/Tomcat is not related to OAS, where did you get this info? OAS is based in a Orion Web Server and Apache HTTP Server, not Tomcat.
    For this kind of problems there are the CPU you may want to check in Metalink for them.
    Can you clarify also what default files?
    Greetings.

  • OAS 10G WAR file deployment error (Errors in named queries)

    Hi again,
    I setup a 10G 10.1.3.1 Application Server and tried deploying my WAR file. In tomcat the WAR file deployment works fine. however in OAS I get this error and currently I'm clueless as to what causes the error.
    [Oct 24, 2007 6:03:37 PM] Operation failed with error: Error creating bean with name 'entityManagerFactory' defined in ServletContext resource [WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.HibernateException: Errors in named queries: Book_List_By_RegisterDate ... (other named queries)
    My ApplicationContext.xml file contains this
    <bean id="entityManagerFactory"
    class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean">
    <property name="persistenceUnitManager" ref="persistenceUnitManager" />
    <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="BookStudy" />
    <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource" />
    <property name="jpaVendorAdapter">
    <bean
    class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.vendor.HibernateJpaVendorAdapter">
    <property name="database" value="ORACLE" />
    <property name="showSql" value="true" />
    </bean>
    </property>
    </bean>
    And a sample named query in the hbm.xml file is this
    <query name="Book_List_By_RegisterDate">
              from BookData
              where to_char(regdate, 'MM/dd/yyyy') = to_char(:regdate, 'MM/dd/yyyy')
              order by Author.author_name desc, bookname desc
    </query>
    Thanks,

    Uncomment, or add, the following line in your application's orion-web.xml file:
    <web-app-class-loader search-local-classes-first="true" include-war-manifest-class-path="true" />

  • OAS Standard or EE

    Do I need OAS EE for APEX or will Standard edition work?

    Hi UserXy,
    you can choose between several methods:
    1) use Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) - only in Oracle XE or Oracle DB 11g
    2) use Oracle HTTP Server (which is the minimum deployment of Oracle Application Server)
    3) use (still in Early Adopter release) APEX Listener (which you can use with e.g. Tomcat)

  • Get client ip address from Web Service hosted on OAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
    Can anyone advice how to get the client IP from a web service (java) hosted on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.
    The below code works if the web service is hosted on Tomcat.
    MessageContext msgCtxt = MessageContext.getCurrentMessageContext();
    String IP = (String)msgCtxt.getProperty("REMOTE_ADDR");
    This code is causes built errors on the OAS 10.1.2 since it needs Axis and many other Jars. I tried to insert the jars needed but unfortunately when i was able to compile it returned a java.lang.NullPointerException.
    Is there a way to get the IP address of the client that calls this web service ?
    Or is there a way to read the SOAP request maybe i can retrieve the client IP from it.
    Thanks for your support,
    regards

  • OAS 10.1.3 isn't detecting /WEB-INF/lib jar files within WAR file

    Hello,
    I have been developing and testing a simple non-EJB web application on Tomcat 5.5 with no class loading difficulties for the past several months. All of the needed JARs for my app are located under the WEB-INF/lib directory. My next task is to deploy the WAR file containing my webapp on the Oracle 10g (10.1.3) application server.
    The problem I am having when trying to do this is that when I deploy the WAR file from Oracle Enterprise Manager, the WAR file will expand correctly but at runtime OAS doesn't appear to be detecting the JAR files in the WEB-INF/lib folder of my WAR file. I have confirmed that the JAR files are indeed being expanded in the directory that OC4J expands the WAR file into:
    appserver/j2ee/home/applications/appEARFile/MyWebApp/WEB-INF/lib.
    But when I run the application, from the Firefox browser I immediately get the following 500 Internal Server Error:
    "Servlet error: Error instantiating servlet 'reports'. Servlet class org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet not found in web-application MyWebApp"
    (The IE browser just gives me the 500 error without additional elaboration.)
    But my spring.jar where that class is located is in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Does anyone have an idea what the solution is--how can I get OC4J to read the spring.jar (or any jar) in that lib folder? (Or is there a way I can configure logging to better pinpoint the problem if that isn't it?)
    Thanks,
    Glen

    Glen,
    You said:
    IE browser just gives me the 500 error without
    additional elaborationTry unsetting the "Show friendly HTTP error
    messages".
    From the "Tools" menu of Microsoft Internet Explorer,
    choose "Internet Options".
    (You should then see another window entitled
    "Internet Properties" displayed.)
    Select the "Advanced" tab and search for "Show
    friendly HTTP error messages".
    Excellent--that worked. Thanks! I was afraid that I would have to be debugging on Firefox exclusively.
    I also suggest setting the
    "search-local-classes-first" attribute, of the
    "web-app-class-loader" element, in your
    "orion-web.xml" file to 'true' (if it isn't
    already).
    That did it. My orion-web.xml file was of the old DTD-based version, I believe that was causing the problem.
    The following document:
    Oracle® Containers for J2EE
    Developer’s Guide
    10g Release 3 (10.1.3)
    Part No. B14433-01
    has a chapter (3) entitled Utilizing the OC4J
    Class Loading Framework which contains a section
    entitled Troubleshooting Class Loading-Related
    Problems in OC4J.
    Thanks for the link, I went through it thoroughly in trying to fix my problem.

  • Remote Debug in oas 4.0.8.2 using JDeveloper3.1

    Now I can do remote debug using JDeveloper3.1 in Tomcat or WebLogic!
    But I can not do remote debug in Oralce Application Server 4.0.8.2.
    Who knows how to remote debug in OAS, mainly for how to configure OAS to support remote debug, please tell me as quickly as possible!
    I appreciate ... very much!!!!!!
    We are using JDeveloper3.1 and OAS for our business application. So we must know how to remote debug in OAS with JDeveloper3.1.

    In the JAva Environment settings for your OAS Application you should add the remote debugging name-value pairs using
    X_OPTION
    X_OPTION
    runjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000
    X_OPTION debug
    X_OPTION noagent
    JAVA_COMPILER NONE
    INITIAL_HEAP 32m
    MAX_HEAP 32m
    After adding the configuration start the OAS and try to connect to remote OAS VM for JDeveloper

  • Install OBIEE in a Tomcat server

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to install Oracle Bussiness Intelligence in a Tomcat server under linux, but I'm having some trouble to make this because I'm not sure about the structure of this application. I see that it's split into several applications (bioffice, analytics), and I want to upload the neccesary applications to my tomcat server.
    I need to know which .war files should I upload, if I need to configure anything, and, if possible, where can I donwnload directly those wars. I have installed OBIEE under a linux, which installs an OAS, and then copied the .wars included there. But that didn't work for me.
    Please, if anyone can throw some insight into this matter, I would appretiate it.
    Regards

    analytics is the one that you need to provide Answers and Dashboards. You don't download it, it should be in your OracleBI home /web directory (eg. /app/oracle/product/obiee/web)
    Check out the documentation for how to do the deployment & config here: [Oracle Business Intelligence Infrastructure Installation and Configuration
    Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/b31765.pdf] p.150 onwards
