OBIEE 10g - Office Add-in - MS Office 2010

We have all users on MS Office 2010 and our BI app is on OBIEE 10g. Unfortunately the OBIEE 10g Office Add-in doesn't install with MS Office 2010 (It works with Office 2003 and 2007 only). Does anyone knows how to resolve this?
Other options I tried is to install Office Add-in from OBIEE 11g - It gets installed with Office 2010, but I am not able get OBIEE 10g reports.

I got the solution. Thought I should share it. The add-in available with latest version of OBIEE 10g i.e. 10.1.3.4.2 works with Office 2010.

  • OBIEE 10g How ADD new report and use outer join

    Hi,
    I have to add a new report that use a new view...(just created in db)
    I'm new in OBIEE.. can you explain how can i do it?
    Actually:
    1. I opened administrator tool and import new view (and created an alias) in physical
    2. I built a logical table in BMM
    3. I built a new presentation table in presentation
    problem: the table in BMM have yellow icon like a fact table.. why??
    can you explain me what i have to do?
    thank you
    Edited by: 1006028 on 15-mag-2013 2.54

    By default OBIEE 10g considers a table as fact table that is dragged from physical to BMM layer. That's why you see the yellow color icon.
    If it is a dimension table, you will have to join this table with a fact table in BMM layer. After this the yellow color icon will go away.
    Pls mark correct/helpful.

  • Virtualizing an Office add-in with Office 365 installed - possible?

    I've just attempted to virtualise an Excel add-in by sequencing the add-in and providing a special shortcut to launch Excel in the bubble with the add-ins enabled.
    This normally works fine when Office is locally installed, but in this case my client has deployed the Office 365 click-to-run package, and when Excel is launched it cannot see any of my virtualised files.
    When I run listdlls.exe on Excel.exe, I see:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Application Virtualization\Client\Subsystems\AppVEntSubsystems32.dll
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\AppVIsvSubsystems32.dll
    Since Office 365 is based on App-V technology, I assume these two dlls are conflicting, and my solution going forward is to either get them to put Office down locally or convert it to a full App-V package.
    Before I do this though, does anybody know of any tricks to get it to work with the basic Office 365 package?

    Our story is if you want to combine virtual Office 2013 with virtualized plug-ins, flatten the package into the full App-V format and use Connection Groups.

  • Office Add-In Not Working After Installing Office 2013

    I just installed Office 2013 on my Windows 7 Pro desktop with Acrobat X Pro installed and all of the Office Add-In's went away.  I find them very useful and would like to know how I can get them working again. Thanks.

    I wonder why Acrobat X is not compatible with Office 2013. Acrobat X was released late 2010, Office 2013 ca. two years later.
    I think you answered your own question.
    I don't want to buy an update to Acrobat XI for compatibility reasons only.
    While you may not want to buy an upgrade for compatibility reasons, this is one of the main reasons why people do pay for upgrades. After all, you paid for Office 2013! Does this mean that only Microsoft should get money for software, everyone one else should run around to support their incompatible changes for nothing?
    I just want that I can call the PDFmaker out of my Office applications. What is the problem?
    Isn't it clear?

  • Can't get Office Add-in to allow drill in Excel.

    In 11.1.1.3, I have an Analysis pivottable that I can insert into Excel via the OBIEE Office Add-in.
    However, you can't use hierarchical columns with the add-in, only attribute columns. Nonetheless, attribute columns like "Per Year Name" are drillable in dashboards and analyses. The Add-in ribbon help states this: "Pivot Table view - displays data in the grouped format defined in the Answers analysis. You can drill up and down and add Excel formatting to the inserted view."
    For some reason I can't drill. Does an analysis have to be enabled for drilling like a dashboard. Or can only pivottables within dashboards be drilled?
    Any help or pointers to Add-in tutorials (they seem hard to find) would be appreciated!
    Thanks, Russ.

    As the event log indicated, this is due to acrobat pdfmaker office com addin doesn't work well with Microsoft Word.
    I would suggest you go ahead and try to upgrade your Adobe product to the latest version and see if issue persists.
    Or contact the support of Adobe and see if there is a known compatibility issue or not.

  • I require a TIMS database add in for office 2013

    The add in for that was available for Office 2010 and 2007 edition. I am on a 2013 office edition. I cant seem to find the add in version for 2013. Is there a work around for that?

    Hi UDIT,
    From the description, you want to find a TIMS database add-in for Office 2013 and the add-in only available for Office 2007 and Office 2010 edition.
    I suggest that you contact the vendor of this add-in to see whether there is a new version works for Office 2013.
    Best regards

  • Need to use Office 97, XP, 2003 and 2010 on the same PC

    Hello there,
    I need to use different versions of office product on my PC, a winXP Sp3 box. I used Office 97, XP and 2003 so far without any trouble.
    Now I installed Office 2010, taking care of the "leave previous Office versions" enabled during installation and to place the 2010 files in a "Office10" folder rather than the default one. Each Office suite has its own folder too.
    From now I have this problem: starting any XP or 2003 application will show up the windows installer reconfiguration window, and this takes a lot of time until the application effectively starts. If then I wish to use a 2010 app, launching it will show
    the office 2010 setup-reconfiguration window, so another couple of minutes of elaboration is needed until I can use my app.
    Please someone can help me with this issue?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Multiple versions of Microsoft Office software can be installed, if you install earliest version of Office first. Following order of installation should allow error free usage of multiple Office software versions.
    First - Microsoft Office XP
    Second - Microsoft Office 2003
    Third - 2007 Office suites and programs
    Fourth - Microsoft Office 2010 suites (32-bit versions only)
    Above order applies to installation of whole Microsoft Office suite and also individual Office programs on single Windows PC.
    In your case, you have installed these apps successfully, but Windows Installer Appears Every Time when you start office XP or 2003, try this:
    Open the Group Policy Editor by selecting Run from the Start Menu, and typing
    gpedit.msc. (If the file is missing, run mmc.exe instead. Then, select
    Add/Remove Snap-in from the Console menu, click
    Add, and double-click Group Policy. Click
    Finish, then Close, then Ok.)
    Expand the following branches:
    Local Computer Policy \ Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Windows Installer
    Double-click Disable Windows Installer to your right, click
    Enabled, and choose Always from the list. Click Ok when you're done.
    The change will take effect immediately. If you added a snap in, as described above, you don't need to "save changes to the console."
    Note: If you encounter an error about the Administrator Policy the next time you try to install an application, you'll have to re-enable the Windows Installer temporarily.
    Also you said "If then I wish to use a 2010 app, launching it will show  the office 2010 setup-reconfiguration window". To work around this issue:
    Open Run (Press Windows key + R) copy and paste the following commands one at a time and then press ENTER.
    reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
    reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
    reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Options /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1
    NOTE: You should back-up the registry using the steps given
    here before modification.

  • Office Add-Ins : Langauge mismatch

    Hello
    I installed on Wondows XP
    OBI EE 10.1.3.4.1
    and
    Ms Office 2007 (english)
    After installing and configuring Oracle BI Office
    (like explain in OBE : Using OBI Office Add-Ins with OBI EE ...)
    I tried to insert data in Excell from Oracle BI Catalog
    I received this error message "Langauge mismatch"
    For loging I used English or French language with the same result.
    Have you got an idea ?

    FYI
    The error occurs due to a mismatch between the Regional Settings between the client PC and OBIEE Server.
    I don't know how to change the Regional Setting for OBIEE.
    For this reason I changed the Regional Settings on the windows client machine from the Language French to English (US).
    After restart It works

  • Install Office Add-on pre-determine 64x or 32x

    Good afternoon all,
    I am looking to roll out a Microsoft Outlook add-on through group policy, there are two versions of the client, x64 & x32.
    Unfortunately my estate houses a number of 32 bit & 64 bit Office installs, and the add-on is dependant on the version of office.
    I require a script to carry out the following
    1. Check if the remote machine is running x64 or x32 office
    2. Install the relevant add-on depending on the outcome in step 1.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Hassan.

    To check if Office version installed is 32-bit or 64-bit, you can validate through a key created by the office installation -
    Article :
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee681792(office.14).aspx
    Powershell -
    #OFFICE 2013 BITNESS
    $bitness = get-itemproperty HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook -name Bitness
    If($bitness -eq "x86"){
    #DO 32-BIT STUFF
    elseif($bitness -eq "x64"){
    #DO 64-BIT STUFF
    This is definitely not a turnkey script, but should at least get you started.  Some things to consider are if there is more than one version of Office possible - 2013? 2010? 2007? - That registry key will be different for each version, so be sure to
    check what version is installed.
    JRV also gives you the method to grab the system architecture as well if necessary.  Hope this helps you.

  • How to add MS Office add-in from inside a Thinapp 5 virtual application to a MS Office 2013 suite that is installed on a base image

    Hi,
    We have the following solution:
    VMware Horizon View 5.3.1
    Non-persistent Linked-clone pool with delete VM after logoff
    Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise 64 bit
    MS Office 2013 32-bit installed on image
    Thinapps registered for each user from logonscript with thinreg.exe command. Thinapps is located on a network share
    Native Windows roaming profiles with appdata/roaming, appdata/local without appdata/locallow(persona management does not support Windows 8.1 in View 5.3.1)
    This is our issue:
    We have a 3rd party application with a couple Thinapp entrypoints(exe files) and in the Thinapp package process we also installed Office addins. We tested that the Add-ins was opened inside Outlook, Word and Powerpoint before post installation scan.
    The problem is that the add-ins is not added to Office 2013 before or after the Thinapp is started on a test client.
    I have tried several changes in the package.ini and virtual filesystem attributes(no registry changes yet):
    Package.ini:
    ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=WINWORD.EXE;EXCEL.EXE;POWERPNT.EXE;OUTLOOK.EXE;
    ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=External
    ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions=excel.exe;outlook.exe;powerpnt.exe;winword.exe
    ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault=Virtual
    VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM=0
    DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged
    RegistryIsolationMode=Merged
    I have also read that you could make entrypoints to the locally installed Office 2013, but I get errors on the build process. ref. link: http://edwinfriesen.nl/content/?p=105#comments
    The best thing would be if the add-ins were added in the logon process together with thinreg.exe, but if that is not supported, the add-ins must be added to Office either in a custom Office shortcut/entry point or after starting the Thinapp virtual application.
    Remember that the application needs to registered every times the user logon, because we use a non-persistent View pool.
    I would really appreciate if somebody could tell me how to add Office add-ins from inside a Thinapp virtual application/package to a locally installed MS Office 2013 suite on a Windows "base" image?
    We do not want to add the whole Office suite to the Thinapp virtual package and not add the add-ins trough GPO,SCCM etc.

    What about the COM object parameters in package.ini ?
    We can live with scripting in logon or changed logon scripts etc.
    And you don't no need to lock in the project files.
    From package.ini documentation:
    ObjectTypes Parameter
    The ObjectTypes parameter specifies a list of virtual COM object types that are visible to other applications in
    the physical environment. You can use scripts, such as VBScripts, to call objects that start captured applications.
    An object type is registered to only one native or virtual application at a time. If you install Office 2003 on the
    native machine and want to use a virtual Office 2007 package, you must determine whether to have the virtual
    or native application handle the object types.
    If you want the virtual Office 2007 to handle the object types, you can leave the ObjectTypes setting in the
    Package.ini file, build the package, and register it using the thinreg.exe utility. If you want the native Office
    2003 to handle the object types, you must remove the ObjectTypes setting from the Package.ini file before
    building and registering the package.
    You cannot add random entries to the ObjectTypes parameter.
    You can only remove entries that were generated by the capture process.
    Example: Starting a Virtual Application When a COM Object is Created
    If a script or a native application creates an Excel.Application COM object or other COM objects listed in the
    ObjectTypes parameter, ThinApp starts the virtual package.
    [Microsoft Office Excel 2007.exe]
    ObjectTypes=Excel.Application;Excel.Application.12;Excel.Chart;
    Excel.Macrosheet;Excel.Sheet; Excel.Workspace
