OBIEE 11g Time Hierarchy with YTD function problem

Hi all,
Platform: OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0.
We have a Calendar dimension (*time dimension*), that includes the usual time hierarchy (Year > Semester > Quarter> Month > Day).
Creating a Pivot Table with a YTD measure, using also the Calendar Table hierarchy, everything works fine, and we can drill up & down always getting the right YTD values.
But, if we add to this analysis, a year and month prompts (filters), we only receive true YTD values, at the day and month levels of the hierarchy. Above this, values will sum up instead of getting the right YTD aggregated value.
YTD logical column definition = TODATE(Table A.Measure B , Hieararchy.Year)
Example of pivot values returned:
*2011*=1192812 (Sum of the 3 Semester not the YTD value)
Semester 1 = 377305 (Sum of the 4 Quarter not the YTD value)
Quarter 1= 107460 (Sum of the 3 months not the YTD value)
Jan = 18507 (YTD value)
Feb = 35223 (YTD value)
Mar = 53730 (YTD value)
Is there anything that we might be doing wrong?

Ricardo,
You might be aggregatign values twice either at RPD level or at reprot level. Please check on that.

We are testing the migration to OBIEE 11G.
We are currently in 10.3 version
We have a problem on AGO / TO_DATE OBIEE functions that returns null results on existing reports.
In 10.3 version, these functions work properly with the actual TIME dimension.
Here is how we designed time Dimension:
TOTAL -> Year -> Quarter -> MONTH -> WEEK -> DATE_KEY, FULL_DATE
DATE_KEY is a number and referenced as a foreign key on our fact table.

Does a month have always the same number of week and begin with the first day of a week ?
If it's not the case, your dimension is not good when you make a report on the week grain for a year ago for instance.

Can anyone explain what is the exact functionality of 'Reset' Button in any OBIEE 11g Dashboard Prompt.

This is the functionality of Reset button,
Reset will go back to last applied values. It does not clear values. Currently the Reset button works in the following ways:
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) reset 4) it should go back to blank.
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) apply 4) reset. 5) it should NOT to back to blank. actually it does not change anything.
if 1) the prompt is blank 2) select some value, 3) apply 4) change any values 5) reset. 6) it should undo any changes in step 4.

OBIEE 11g and SSO with Browser Cookie

In OBIEE 10g we were able to configure the Presentation Server to accept a browser cookie. The cookie value would be passed to the BI Server as the :USER variable. A BI Server Repository Initialization Block would execute a SQL SELECT statement which would return the PeopleSoft username based on the cookie value.
We added the following to the 10g instanceconfig.xml:

The Initialization Block SQL is:

mGetTokenUserid is a PL/SQL function which invokes a PeopleSoft web service. The web service simply returns the username for a valid PS_TOKEN cookie.
The Initialization Block works fine in OBIEE 11g.
Unfortunately the instanceconfig.xml settings from 10g do not work in 11g. There is also nothing in the OBIEE 11g documentation which discusses how to tell the system to use a specific cookie value for authentication.
Any guidance as to where in the Fusion Middleware or WebLogic security documentation we might find details on how to get the system to pass the PS_TOKEN cookie to the BI Server in 11g?

Time Capsule with Milti Function Printer/Scanner

I am using my time machine with a Brother DCP 135C. Printing is fine, but trying to scan, the Computers say that they cannot connect. Now I understand that the computers will only connect to the Brother when there is something to be printed. But is there any way around this? I am using an iMac 2.1G 1 G RAM, and a MBP Unibody 2.4, 2 G RAM.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations, including the Time Capsule (TC). In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.

I am talking about object permissions in the catalog (eg. Folder permissions..). This is in addition to the permissions for the data source.
You need to be able to view the folders from where you can select the analysis as a data source in the BI publisher report.
Here is an excerpt from the Guide:
For a role to access an object in the catalog, the role must be granted Read permissions on both the object and the folder in which the object resides. Permissions can be granted at the folder level and applied to all the objects and subfolders it contains, or applied to individual objects.
To grant catalog permissions to a role:
Navigate to the Catalog.
Locate the folder or object on which you wish to grant permissions and click More. From the menu, select Permissions. Alternatively, you can select the folder and click Permissions in the Tasks region.

Time capsule with internet connection problem

I have connected time capsule with my Airtel India Broadband modem. I am not able to access internet. When i see them in Airport utility Time capsule blinks in yellow and internet in stable yellow. Help required!

Open Airport Utility and select the Time Capsule. What does the Status show?

The website may not run properly on a mobile device. You can try another browser (search the App Store) but it may be hard-coded into the website itself.

OBIEE 11g Time Series Function

Hi All,
I am trying to compare this year to date sales to last year to date sales and this code is not working:
TODATE(<Measure>,<Time_Level>) For bellow syntax we are getting an error Formula syntax is invalid.
TODATE("Fact - Sales Order Lines"."Net Ordered Amount", "Time"."Enterprise Year").
Is the above example wrong?. Please provide one example for Time level value.
Actually what should be the value for second parameter (Level)

OBIEE 11g - formatting hierarchy levels

Hi, I'm playing with the new hierarchy functionality in 11g. I've found in the criteria tab where it's possible to give the dimension members different formats based on what level of the hierarchy they are at (using the "Hierarchy Level Properties" dialog). This formats the dimension lables appropriately, But I also want the associated numbers to inherit the same formatting. Is there any way to do this?

Ok, that's too bad. No way to format individual items, we're talking about thousands of accounts in an account hierarchy. I'll put in an enhancement request for this feature. I guess one related question, is there any way in answers to add a column that returns what level of a hierarchy the given row is at? If I could do that, then I could format the measures conditionally based on that column?

First time dealing with Greenshift/Gamma problem in Quicktime/Safari

I've been editing video on a Mac and in Final Cut Pro since version 2 (I am transitioning to Adobe Premiere Pro so don't judge )and this is the first time I've had a huge problem with a shift in color from what I see on the canvas to what is exported - and the first time I've noticed that that problem/shift only happens when the footage is viewed in an Apple program (Quicktime or Safari when uploaded to Vimeo). Opening the footage in VLC or viewing the upload on Firefox? Looks gorgeous. But on Safari or Quicktime? Colors are muted and have a greenish cast.
In doing some research, especially on various Adobe forums, I've learned that this is a scarily widespread problem (and learned the term 'QuiRktime') so I'm suprised I haven't had this problem before - it may be due to the lovely taupe/grey outfits, skin tones, etc that I got to shoot.
The footage is for website/computer usage so looking at it on my monitor should be a good indicator. And I've had others look at the Vimeo upload and some have commented on the green cast (so are probably Mac people too...).
So I'm not sure what to do - how best to give it to the client.
Workflow: footage is ProRes HQ, shot in 1080, shrunk to 720 to make 'artificial second cam close-up' (don't ask...). Edited in Final Cut Pro, but I've been going back and forth with it in Adobe Premiere Pro to try and tweak the picture color and contrast, as I've been liking the filters in Premiere better than FCP lately, but had some pre-built items I needed to use in FCP as I haven't gotten around to re-building replacements in After Effects.
I've exported it as ProRes and used Adobe Media Encoder to compress (been using both the Vimeo 720 preset - and tried upping the bitrate, setting quality to max rendering - and the Broadcast 720 preset).
Only time I've gotten it to look good when opening on Quicktime is when I export it as Animation versus ProRes, but the resulting file is 12X (and thus 12GB) so too large to upload or burn on disc (and compressing it for web usage from that file gives identical results to simply compressing the ProRes file in the first place or exporting directly from Premiere Pro to h.264)
So my question is...what is the best way to export this footage to get the right color cast in Quicktime based computers and non-Quicktime using computers.

It actually doesn't matter where the footage will end up. The idea is to see the image accurately while grading, and for that you will need a calibrated, external TV. You just can't use a normal computer monitor or software media players for this.

Oracle 11g EUS Configuration with Novell Edir problem

Environment: Oracle database 11g; OVD 11g, connected to Novell Edir 8.8.2
I have followed the document to configure the Oracle DB 11g for EUS (Enterprise user security) against an OVD 11g instance, which is connected to Novell Edir 8.8.2.
The steps mentioned are successful. But when I do sqlplus to authenticate, it gives an error ORA-28030.

I've heard from some people that there's a bug in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 that prevents integration of OBIEE 11 security with EBS 11.
I'm trying to find anyone who actually succeeded to get the thing done.
I used the DeliverBI document as well as the official guide.
Is there any way to "debug" my settings? How can I know - what's wrong?

YTD function problem

Hi,
I got error when I try to calculate YTD sales by using "TODATE" function.
TODATE("Facts - Contract Value"."Total Value USD","Dim - Contract Date"."Fiscal Year")
[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 27037] Unresolved level: "Dim - Contract Date"."Fiscal Year".
How can fix it? Is there another way to get YTD?

metric 'Total Value USD'->fx->Filter button->select 'Fiscal Year'
Add button>SQL Expression then use YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)
just in case if you get any datatype issues then
you have to do something like below
FILTER("Total Value USD" USING cast("Fiscal Year" as int) =YEAR(CURRENT_DATE))
